Summary: I like Zongi. You won't hear that from too many fans of Escaflowne.
While I like Dilandau and the Dragon Slayers, Zongi was for me was the
most tragic character. It was too bad they didn't reveal more about him
and the Deceptant race. I thought they were a unique touch. A poem from his POV.

I am the nobody
I travel by night
When morning comes
I shrink from the light
No soul of my own
No true face I possess
They all turn away
From my icy caress
Tattoos of a warrior
Etched on my skin
A constant reminder
Of my race's sin
To die in the fight
On the field all alone
I have no one to turn to
No place to call home
I am the Doppelganger
With the chameleon smile
In the filth and the blood
I find peace for a while
But oh to turn to the sun
But it's not where I belong
The blood of my people
Must keep me strong
Yet no one will cry
If in the battle I fall
In fact the event of my death
Shall mean nothing at all
