A/N: Just a little note, this chapter goes well with listening to the song Chasing Cars by Snow Patrol. I listened to it while I made it and it really sets the mood.

It had been a long week for both Harry and Hermione. Ron continued to not talk to them. Harry and Hermione both attempted many times to try to speak with him, but he simply walks away from them. They both felt terrible about it, and wished that it had never happened. Then again in a small way they were glad it happened. They got the chance to share a kiss with each other, yet ever since that kiss their worlds have been falling apart.

Although Hermione had stopped having dreams, Harry began to have terrible nightmares. Each night that passed they intensified. The last one Harry had he just heard Voldemort's voice. He uttered many things to Harry, but he only could remember one phrase that Voldemort said to him. It stuck with him, because it truly scared him the most. In the dream it was complete darkness until one moment. At the very end of the dream there was a flash of Hermione and then Voldemort uttered a terrible phrase.

Because of you Harry, she will die.

When Harry woke up from the dream he was trembling. He didn't even notice Ron's glares over to him. Harry decided it was time he talked to Dumbledore about the situation. He had to talk to someone about it. Maybe Dumbledore would help him.

Harry was at Dumbledore's door just waiting. He didn't know why he hadn't knocked yet, but he just hesitated. He slowly brought his arm up about to knock on the door. For a moment his hand just waved back and forth not knocking on the door. Finally Harry brought himself to knock on the door. He knocked three times and awaited Dumbledore to come to the door.

He waited for only a moment or two until the door was finally open. Dumbledore saw Harry and then nodded to Harry.

"Hello Mr. Potter. What are you doing here? Don't you belong in class," Dumbledore asked Harry with a puzzled expression on his face.

"I know professor. But I needed to speak with you," Harry requested.

"Oh of course Harry. Come on in," Dumbledore said opening the door wider and stepping out of the way for Harry.

Harry made his way in to Dumbledore's chambers. He remembered the many times before when he visited this place. Not all visits were good. Not that he was in trouble with Dumbledore, just weird conversations. Hard conversations. Sad conversations.

Harry took a seat at Dumbledore's desk and the headmaster took a seat across from Harry. Dumbledore sorted through some things on his desk before looking up to Harry. Dumbledore took off his glasses and cleaned them with his shirt. As he put them back on he met eyes with Harry and nodded to him.

"So Harry, what is it that you needed to speak with me about?" Dumbledore asked sitting back in his chair.

"Well sir…I've been having some nightmares as of lately," Harry admitted to the headmaster.

"I see. What are they about Harry?"

Harry hesitated not knowing if he should tell Dumbledore about everything that has been going on. He looked down to his feet and was silent for a moment. Dumbledore tilted his head to the side.

"Harry. Know that you can be honest with me. Whatever you tell me shall stay in this room. Please Harry. What are your nightmares about?"

Harry then looked back up to the headmaster and took a deep breath. He still hesitated for just a moment more. "Well…I must tell you what led up to this dream."

"Alright. I am listening."

Harry then went on to explain about how Hermione was having dreams. He then continued on to the moment down at the lake and how Harry had grown feelings for Hermione that were more then just friends. He shared how Ron had caught them and how they had been fighting ever since. The whole time Dumbledore simply nodded and stroked his beard as Harry continued on with his story. Harry then began to tell him of his nightmares. How they became more terrible over time. Then he got to the dream he had just the last night.

"In the end of the dream there was a flash of Hermione…And Voldemort said something. Something I can't shake from my mind…He said because of me…Hermione would die."

Dumbledore stood up from his desk and paced around the room. Harry looked at Dumbledore with concerned eyes. Harry's eyes just followed Dumbledore around the room awaiting the headmaster's reply. For a little while the room was left in silence. Dumbledore was in deep thought about the situation. Harry was eager to hear what Dumbledore had to say about the situation.
"Professor…" Harry whispered still following the professor with his eyes.

Dumbledore looked over to harry and frowned. "Well Harry…"

"Should Hermione leave the school? Would she be safer at home?"

"No. I'm afraid not Harry. Here at Hogwarts is the best place for Hermione right now. If we send her to her home and Voldemort finds out where she is, she will defenseless. We both know she is a smart wizard and a strong one. But not strong enough to take on him…"

"So what should we do professor?"

"Well Harry…I am unsure. Have you told Miss Granger of these dreams?"
"No I haven't told her anything yet sir."

"Good. Don't tell her anything. At least not yet. As of right now Harry, I want you to report back to me if you have another nightmare like this one. In the meantime I will have to talk to some of the other teachers about the situation. Don't worry I won't tell them of the incident down by the lake. I'll just tell them of your dream. But as for now I want you to be quiet about this Harry. Don't tell anyone Harry. Understand?"

"Yes sir," Harry said nodding to the professor.

"Alright Harry. Well it seems you have missed your morning lessons. Lunch is going to be starting in a few minutes. You best head down and eat."

"Okay professor," Harry said standing up and walking towards the door.

"Oh and Harry," Dumbledore said drawing Harry's attention back to Dumbledore.

"About the situation with Ron, I'm sure things will work out in the end. In time he will talk to you."

"Thank you professor," Harry said then exiting Dumbledore's office.

Harry began his walk down to the Great Hall. On his way down he encountered Ron along the way. Ron looked over to Harry and grunted moving ahead of him faster. Harry ran up to Ron's side and grabbed his shoulder and spun him around so he was looking at him.
"Ron enough of this already! We need to talk," Harry exclaimed in frustration with Ron.

"There is nothing to talk about Harry. You betrayed me. That is it," Ron said then trying to move away from Harry again.

Harry grabbed his arm and spun him around again. "Well if your not going to talk to me then at least talk to Hermione. She didn't do anything to you!"

Ron just simply didn't answer Harry and continued to walk ahead. Harry shook his head and then walked behind Ron. Soon they were in the Great Hall. Ron saw Hermione and simply walked by where she was sitting and sat several students away from them. Harry took a seat next to Hermione as she looked over to Ron with a frown. Harry saw Ginny walking in. He waved her over to an open seat across from them. She took her seat and looked to the two of them.

"Are you two okay? You look sad," Ginny inquired looking from Harry to Hermione.

"It is your brother. Can you talk to him? Try to get him to maybe talk to us. He hasn't been talking to us for over a week now," Harry explained to Ginny.

Ginny looked over to Hermione who was simply just looking down to her feet with a frown on her face. "Well…Harry I don't know if he will even listen to me. When have you seen him take any of my advice?"

"Well can you at least try?" Hermione asked looking up to Ginny with the frown still planted on her face.

Ginny slowly nodded to Hermione and Harry. "I will try my best."

Ginny looked down to the other end of the table seeing Ron sitting with some of his other friends. She then looked to the other end of a table were some of her friends were waving her over.

"Alright you guys. I'll talk to him after lunch. Right now I'm going to move down the table. Okay?"

Harry simply just nodded to Ginny as she stood up and left Hermione and Harry. They ate in silence for most of the lunch until Hermione looked over to Harry with a sad look still stretched across her face.

"Harry…Maybe…This event is trying to tell us something," Hermione whispered over to him.

Harry looked over to Hermione as he swallowed a bit of food that remained in his mouth. "What would that be Hermione?" Harry inquired.

"Well…Maybe this event is trying to tell us we shouldn't be together. Maybe we just aren't meant to be."

Harry looked down to his feet gritting his teeth together. He kept his eyes glued to the floor slightly agreeing with Hermione, although he didn't want to believe it was true.

"I'm sorry Harry…" Hermione mumbled before standing up and leaving the Great Hall. Tears began to build up in her eyes again. She wiped them away as she moved along. Hermione continued to walk as far away from the Great Hall as she could. She made her way up to the Gryffindor common room and once she reached it she hurried in to the girl's dormitory. She collapsed on her bed and clasped her face in her hands still trying to fight the tears. So far this year at Hogwarts had gone terribly wrong. She was losing one of her best friends, and the relationship with her other was slowly falling down hill. On top of all that she was having these dreams. She never knew what they meant, but they seemed as if they were looking in to the future. And what a grim future it was.

As Hermione sobbed in her room she heard someone yelling her name down in the common room. She slowly raised her head from her hands recognizing the voice. It was Ron's voice. She jumped up from the bed and hurried downstairs to the common room seeing Ron standing there with his hands at his side.

"Ronald…"

"Hi Hermione…I just wanted to say I am sorry. After thinking about it…I never should have yelled at you. You did nothing wrong. You didn't deserve to be treated like the way I treated you. Now Harry on the other hand," Ron's voice trailed off as he mumbled several things under his breath.

"Now Ron! Harry is your best friend. He wanted to keep that promise. But when he told me he had feelings for me I couldn't help it…I kissed him first Ron."

Ron looked to Hermione with a little shock in his eyes, but that slowly faded away.

"But he promised me Hermione."

"And he is keeping that promise. We aren't going on from here. We are seeing this as a sign that maybe we don't belong together. Maybe we aren't meant for each other."

"Well I can't say I totally agree with that," Ron stated looking in Hermione's eyes.

"What…What do you mean Ron?" Hermione asked a little surprised by what he said.

"You two are perfect for each other. I always wished that you and I could be as perfect as you and Harry are for each other."

"But Ron…" Hermione was at a lose for words. She really didn't understand what Ron was saying right now. He thought they were perfect for each yet he hated them for wanting to be together. "You don't make any sense. You hate us wanting to get together yet…"

"I know right…I shouldn't be mad at Harry. I can't hate him for loving you. I mean after all, how couldn't he."

Hermione blushed slightly from Ron's remark. She touched her cheek and looked away from him so he didn't see her blushing. Ron smiled to himself and then set his hand down on her shoulder.

"Your wonderful you. You deserve to be happy. If Harry makes you happy, then I shouldn't hate you for wanting to be with him. If he makes you happy then be with him. Whoever said love came along without sacrifice. Besides, I know there is someone out there for old Ron."

Hermione turned around and smiled to Ron. She didn't know what to say. Finally, Ron and herself were okay again. That is all she wanted. Not being able to talk to Ron was killing her and now that they were speaking to each other again she couldn't be happier. Hermione wrapped her arms around Ron and held him close. Ron laughed and wrapped his arms around Hermione.

That night Ron was sitting in his room awaiting Harry to come inside. Soon Harry sluggishly made his way in to the room. Harry looked over to Ron and hung his head as he made his way to his bed.

"Harry. Can I talk to you?" Ron asked.

Harry looked over to Ron in shock. For the first time in a week Ron had said something to him that didn't involve him yelling at him or insulting him.

"Of course Ron," Harry said sitting on his bed across from Ron's bed.

"Well…I talked to Hermione today and after talking to her I realized…I can't hate you for what you did. I knew you were growing feelings for Hermione. I shouldn't hate you for that. And I shouldn't hate Hermione for any reason at all for that matter."

"Listen Ron, Hermione and I talked about it today at lunch, and we just decided…"

Before Harry could finish Ron cut him off. "No! Hermione told me about your deal as well, and I hate it. You two belong with each other. Don't say that you aren't meant for each other. That is rubbish."

Harry was shocked by what Ron said, and thought he could get with Hermione now, but then his dream flooded in to his head. Voldemort's chilling words rung in his head as if they were on a loop. Harry looked down to his feet sighing.

"What is it Harry?"

"I had a dream…I can't tell you much about it but…"

"What is it Harry? Please tell me."

"I can't be with Hermione. I might be putting her in danger. If Voldemort were to find out about my feelings for Hermione, then he would use them against me." Harry didn't tell him about the dream where Voldemort already knew of his feelings. He probably was already plotting something. Harry inside was still frightened about the situation.

"Harry…Love protected you before. You lived through the killing curse because of love. Maybe if you and Hermione love each other enough then love will protect you."

"I can't take that chance Ron. I can't take the chance of Hermione getting hurt."
"Harry, just being friends with Hermione can be putting her life in danger. I mean remember our second year. She was hurt. Third year, she was hurt again for being with you. For being your friend. So if you want to protect her then you can't even be friends with Hermione. And you and I both know you will never do that."

Harry knew what Ron said was true. Harry sighed and looked down to his feet. They talked about it for a little while more before they both went to bed. Harry tonight for a change did not have a nightmare. Which was a good thing for Harry.

Hermione on the other hand was now having another dream. Crucio! Suddenly Hermione was back in the inferno with Harry and Voldemort. Voldemort was pointing his wand at Harry as he yelled Crucio. Harry squinted his eyes in pain and fell to the ground twitching and turning on the ground in pain. He made grunts of pain as he tossed and turned on the ground. Hermione wanted to do something for Harry, but she was frozen in sheer terror. All she could do was begin to cry again. Tears were building up in her eyes and soon began to stream down her cheek. Before Hermione knew it someone grabbed her from the behind and drug her out of the inferno. Hermione looked to who it was. It was Ron. Hermione looked back to the inferno and tried to run back and help Harry, however Ron continued to hold her back.

No Hermione! You can't go back! Ron shouted holding her back as she screamed and cried. Suddenly Hermione saw Dumbledore run in to the inferno. Hermione could still hear Harry yelping in pain. Soon Hermione heard people talking within the ring of fire, but with all of the chaos around her it was too hard for her to hear what was happening. Hermione collapsed to the ground crying. She clasped her hands over face as she sobbed. Ron knelt down and wrapped his arms around Hermione holding her close to him trying to comfort her.

Hermione was trembling and shaking in terror and in pain. Hermione then managed to look around. She saw Ginny, Fred, and George with their wands drawn fighting a deatheater. Hermione then looked farther along seeing Professor McGonagall and Professor Snape fighting another deatheater. Hermione then continued to look around seeing more students fighting. She saw a girl she just met this by the name of Luna Lovegood also fighting a deatheater with Neville and Seamus by her side. Everything was in chaos. A battle had broken out at Hogwarts. Hermione wanted to help them all, but she found herself incapable of doing anything. She was frozen in place with Ron holding his arms around her.

Suddenly Hermione heard someone behind her. Her eyes traveled behind her seeing black shoes and a pair of rugged pants. Hermione expected it to be a deatheater. As her eyes continued up the person who was standing behind Ron and her she noticed it was not a deatheater. She hadn't seen this person since third year when she helped him escape from his dark fate. It was Sirius Black.
