December 3rd - Robin
"Well, it's not a partridge in a pear tree, but I reckon it's festive enough," Cameron quipped, gesturing at the thorny bush in which a happily chirping robin was perched.
"Maybe it's one of the four calling birds," Sam suggested cheekily.
Daniel shrugged. "Actually, the original line is colly birds--meaning 'coal-like'. It probably referred to blackbirds or ravens. 'In a pear tree' is thought to have been une perdrix, which is French for 'a partridge'."
"To-may-to, to-mah-to," Vala grinned, sharing a "the Tau'ri are so strange" glance with an equally-amused Teal'c. "I just want the five golden rings."
