'Hello?' I blink, not expecting the colder Russian to pick up. I can hear an annoyed tone in his quiet, well-reserved voice. 'What is it? If you want to say something than speak,' he growls out softly. He seems a bit pre-occupied.

I nearly scream in joy, knowing now that at least 2 of my three close friends are alive. "Bryan! What's been going on? There's been a detective questioning what happened to you and everything! Where's Tala? And where are you?" I cry out into the phone, all the worry from the last few days escaping into my voice. The other line is silent for a little while. "Bryan, you still there?"

'Err…yeah. I am,' he mumbles out. I can barely catch the nervousness in his voice. I quickly put the call on speaker and start recording it, suspicious. 'Tala decided to try to fix our differences and pulled me out of the city. We're in a forest and he says we can't come out until we work things out. He's trying to catch some fish. It hasn't been working and he's in a real bad mood. And I don't see why a detective would be wondering where we are...' he comments, clearly lying. There's a certain tone that sneaks into Bryan's voice whenever he's lying. After a year or so you begin to be able to pick it up and it's clear in this conversation. 'Relax, Ian. We're fine. Perfectly fine. Nothing is wrong, I'm just a little ticked off still.'

"I…alright, Bry…" I mumble, listening to the distinct click as he closes his phone, hanging it up in the process. I press stop on the recording, more suspicious than ever.
