(Mai's POV)
I walked down the long path, knowing exactly where I was going. The tall trees shaded my face from the summer's sun. After a few minutes I finally reached my destination. There in front of me, not six feet away, were my parent's graves.
I walked over and knelt down on their combined grave. My right hand placed a bouquet on the ground as my left hand reached up and ran across the names on its surface. My wedding band glistening in the sun as it traced the letters.
"Thank you so much for having me," I whispered and brought my hand down and onto my swollen stomach. "You're going to be grandparents. Naru and I are expecting twin boys. Hehe, I remember when I told Naru the news a few months ago; I don't think I've ever seen him so happy. I'm expected to give birth in November, and I'm sad you wont be here to hold them when they're born, but don't worry, I'll be sure to tell them lots of stories about you," I smiled and a tear ran down my cheek. I wiped it away and my smile grew wider.
"I have to go now. Naru is waiting in the car; I told him I wanted to come here alone but he insisted on at least driving me. I'm sure you would love him. He's very caring towards me and is going to be an excellent father, I just know it! I've decided I'm going to name one of our children Gene, after his deceased brother, but don't tell Naru that because it's going to be a surprise. I'll visit you guys later, okay? I love you both."
I felt a light breeze rush around my face seeming to say 'we love you too.' I stood up and started walking back, leaving my parent's graves behind.
Naru was leaning against the passenger door, awaiting my return. He walked towards me and pulled me into a loving hug. "How'd it go?" he whispered into my ear.
"I told them they were going to be grandparents. I bet they'd be happy," I told him in return. "Can we go get something to eat? I'm starving!!"
He laughed and let me go, opening my door for me. "You're always hungry."
I just nodded happily and we drove off down the road.
(Normal POV)
As their car disappeared, the sun shone brighter on the Taniyama's grave. The bouquet of fully bloomed white roses Mai had left portrayed her everlasting message to her parents: Thank you. Thank you for this life you have given me.
(A bouquet of bloomed roses means 'gratitude' and 'thanks'/ white roses mean 'love' and 'you're heavenly')
