Inside Her Mind.
"It's not fair," Sharpay Evans sobbed into her personalized pink handkerchief. All her life Sharpay was the star, snagging the lead role of every single school production with ease. She was the star in the theater, and Troy Bolton was the star in basketball. He was in every way hers, hers, hers. Who was Gabriella Montez, an ugly freak with the brain of Einstein, to steal Troy away from her like that? How dare she steal the spotlight of her school production, when she didn't even audition? Even with the school year over with, and the play finished, she couldn't believe she'd let that insolent girl overcome her.
And what's worse, now she'd have to face them all over summer break! Sharpay felt like running Mr. Fulton over with her four-inch stiletto heels. She'd specifically asked him to hire Troy Bolton, the gorgeous basketball player, to work at the country club at whatever costs. But the entire student body, including that idiotic Gabriella Montez, working at the club? Nauseating. Intolerable. If she'd have to watch Gabriella and Troy nuzzle their noses every time she went outside, she'd end up puking all over her new summer wardrobe.
Which brought her to yet another reason to feel sorry for herself, and another reason to murder Gabriella in the night. Sharpay had spent her freshly earned bucks, (okay, she'd gotten the money for her birthday, but they were still new) on an entire new wardrobe for summer. She'd gotten designer bikinis, the trendiest clothes, and the hottest accessories, for Troy. She worshiped this guy, bought all the hippest clothes and shoes, cheered him on at basketball games and cried over him when he didn't notice her new ensemble, and how did he repay her? By making kissy faces at Gabriella! Sharpay knew that girl was trouble from the start, but now she was stuck. What could she do to ensure a Troy-filled summer, deleting Gabriella Montez from his memory permanently?
And then an idea struck her, so wonderful, so glamorous; she could've hugged her loser brother Ryan and not have been repelled by his clueless state. Troy loved to sing. Sharpay loved to perform. It was destiny, and she'd make sure Troy took her seriously. The club's annual talent show is, as always, going to be held this year, and Sharpay, as always, would win. Screw her bro Ryan—she would make Troy her partner. How could he resist her when she spent nearly every day rehearsing their songs, their choreography? And then, what with the golf and all, she could spend even more time planning ways to get Gabriella fired and out of her life. Out of Troy's life, to be specific. Who cared if the rest of the East High student body was there? She was, after all, practically the owner of the country club. She shouldn't be worried about those poor idiots all day long.
Sharpay knew it was her time to shine. Not only would she make Troy hers at last, but she'd also have a little fun with little Gabby over summertime. She would make her suffer, just as she'd done for the last year. When the summer was over, Troy would be saying, "Gabriella who?"
