"La-lala-la-lala-la . . ."I sang to myself as I did the laundry. Edward is gone for the day, so Angela's coming over soon. Hey, I need an excuse for getting out of constant shopping and make overs with Alice. I planned on making cookies. Hmm . . . sugar or peanut butter? Sugar cookies are really good. But you can't go wrong with peanut better. Peanut butter, definitely.
Ding-dong . . . ding-dong.
I half ran to the door, making sure I didn't trip. I unlocked the door to greet an Angela, but what surprised me was, I didn't get an Angela. I got an Alice.
Oh no. Shopping? Make overs? What now?
"Bella!" Alice said, over-excitedly.
"Hi Alice. You know, Angela's coming any minute and — "
"I know, so I decided to take you both shopping! Isn't that great?"
". . .Wonderful." Note the sarcasm"
Just then, as if on a cue, Angela stepped out of her mom's car, saying a quick goodbye to her mom.
"Hey Bella, hi Alice," she said, "what's on the agenda?"
"We're going shopping!" Alice said before I could say anything. She pulled us both toward her car and I sat in the back, Angela in front. Alice made a conscious effort to drive the speed limit.
I sat quietly in the back watching the usually blurred trees pass by slowly, not paying attention to their conversation. Time passed slowly. How long had it been? 45 minutes, I'm guessing, since I could see the outskirts of Port Angeles. I wonder where she's taking us, I mean she just . . .
"Bella. Bella!" Alice called, from outside the care, I should add. When had we gotten here?
Whatever. I stepped out the car and froze in shock of what I saw in front of me.
"VICTORIA'S SECRET"
"Alice, no. I refuse"
"Come on. It'll be fun!" Alice said, pulling me toward The Store From Hell.
"Yeah, don't be such a party pooper, Bella," Angela agreed, "Plus, Edward will like it."
I stared at Angela in pure shock, ignoring the nodding Alice still dragging me into the store. I finally gave up, putting my free hand up as a sign of surrender.
"I give." I said, and they squealed with excitement.
I went into the store, full of pink and red, white and black, with every color in between. Angela drifted off to the bra sections, while Alice pulled me toward another. Thongs. OK . . . Wait, rewind . . . THONGS?! Was she completely out of her mind? I'm already in here. Isn't that enough? No. No way. Nope. Not happening. Not ever.
"Bella . . . it'll come in handy, trust me." She said, tapping her forehead.
I already surrendered, no turning back now.
Sighing I said "what color?"
"This one," she said, holding up a light blue, lacy thong. I have to admit, it is pretty, and it is the color that Edward once complemented me on.
"Fine."
"Yay! Oh, and, you and Angela can have your cookies that you planned on making later. Hey, choose the sugar cookies, not peanut butter. The Peanut butter ones burnt."
"Thanks for the vital piece of information." I said.
"You're welcome" Alice said, though she hid her sarcasm well, I could sill hear it.
Angela walked over, armed with 3 bras. "Did I hear something about cookies?" she asked.
"Yes, we're gonna make some later," Alice said before I could think of a reply.
"Really? I love to bake! What kind are we making?" She asked.
I've never seen Angela this excited. I could honestly say that I wasn't used to it. Was Jasper here, making her all jumpy? I searched around, looking for the little rascal.
No dice. Nothing. Maybe it's Alice, who knows?
"Bells? You gonna buy something else" Angela asked me.
"I think so," I said, simultaneously shooting a very dirty look at Alice, who was nodding.
"You'll thank us later," Alice said, still nodding.
