Disclaimer: I don't own Bleach - never have and never will.

A/N: This is my first foray into this fandom, so please be... um, friendly? I was actually working on another fic of mine when, instead, this came out. Ah, enough talk - here's what you came for... hope you enjoy!

Petting Zoo

Gin thinks Kira Izuru is a walking zoo. A walking petting zoo. Izuru reminds him of so many animals - like the way he looks at him with those doleful eyes, like a lonely puppy. The way he shys away from a sudden sound or touch, like a skittish colt. Or a rabbit. A rabbit in the headlights. A different kind of rabbit to his friend Hinamori Momo (who is cute and adorable) – he's twitchy, ever so twitchy (it's funny).

Yes, Izuru plays the victim ever so well (so naïve). Too naïve, just like a little animal. Animals are so amusing to play with. That puppy, bounding over with its tail wagging, satisfied with a mere pat on the head. The colt can be easily tamed (and oh, is he the master of this foal). Rabbits submit, are meek and mild, so easily scared (Foxes like to eat them, y'know). Izuru, like everyone, has a beast inside of him... but Gin has it soundly caged. So muffled it's hard to remember it even existed.

Caged. Izuru is completely caged. When Gin (regrettably) has to leave Izuru'll still be caged, never to be wild, never venturing outside that box. Gin has complete control of his pet dog. He wonders how many times it'll take, how much he has to kick this puppy before it ceases to come crawling back to him.

Gin doesn't know, but he looks forward to finding out.

A/N: That's it. :) It'd be great to get some constructive feedback on this, especially on the characterisation. Thanks for reading!
