Hi everybody!! As you may already know, my name is Crystal and this is my 3rd fanfic. Since my story about Rosalie isn't turning out to be much of a hit, I decided to write one about Alice instead, since she seems to be a much more popular character. It will also be fun writing about her, since we learn almost nothing about her in the books.
Disclaimer: I do not own any of the characters. I only own Alice's awesome pre-vampire life :) :) :) :) :)
Prologue
Alice POV:
My name is Mary Alice Brandon. I was born on a small island off the coast of northern Maine in the year. When I was five years old, my father took a job as a lawyer in Ontario, Canada. We moved their immediately, leaving behind everything I had ever known. And that's where it all began….
One day, when I was around five and a half years old, I was sitting on our front porch reading a book when a man approached me. He was wearing an old fashioned tailcoat and a white wig. I didn't really reflect on the fact that this was odd; I merely smiled and waved at him. He smiled back and bowed, taking off his top hat and waving it at me.
"Good day, madam," he said in a deep voice.
I giggled.
My mother, who was outside with me, gave me a funny look. "Is anything funny, Mary?" she asked me in a confused voice.
I pointed. "Look at the silly man, mamma!" I giggled again.
By then my mother looked more than a little concerned. "Mary Alice, there is no man over there! Now finish your reading and get back inside!"
I pouted. "But mamma, there is a man over there, and he's wearing a funny coat and hat!"
"Mary Alice Brandon, go to your room!" My mother shouted.
I was shocked. Why did my mother think I was making this up? Couldn't she see him, too? Angry, I stormed off to my room and slammed the door. I sat on my bed, trying to figure out why my mother had been so angry. After a few minutes, I heard my mother talking quietly to my father. Curious, I pressed my ear into the wall, listening.
"She saw a man in the front lawn, Peter!" she told my father in a frantic whisper.
"What's wrong with that, Alexandra?" My father sounded confused. "Were you afraid he would try to hurt you?"
"No, no!" I could practically hear my mother shaking her head. "There was no man, Peter! There was no man in the yard!"
I backed away from the wall, more confused than ever. How could she say that there was no man? I saw him with my own eyes, walking down the front path. Shrugging, I lay down on my bed and resolved to ask her about it in the morning.
Alexandra POV:
I woke with a start at around midnight. I could hear a sound coming from Mary's room…. Suddenly I realized that it was the sound of loud sobbing. Jumping out of bed, I rushed into her room to see what was wrong.
"Oh, sweetie…" I said in my most soothing voice once I arrived at her bed. "Tell me what's wrong."
Mary Alice looked up at me with tear stained eyes. "I hear voices, mamma," she told me softly. "I hear voices in the dark."
Well, how to you like the first chapter?? PLEASE review!! I am dying to know what you think of the story!!
