Chapter 5: Yusuke vs Rando: 99 Attacks

Previously:

He chuckled, "I promise. No altering the ring. I was referring to giving you a second ring." She looked confused, "I want to mate with you. That's a demon thing. But you're a human, so I thought we'd have a small human ceremony at Kaede's village. We can even let the old Miko to officiate."

"Really?" She smiled as she snuggled into his arms one more, "Softy."

"Only for you."

"There you are."

They looked up to see to female demon stand in front of them, "You're not hiding from us, are you Yoko?"

"I assure you, Hiei, it is not too late to join our ranks. Prostrate yourself before my master and he shall give you power and fame beyond what you could have tasted." Seiryu said as smoke was started slowly coming out of his foot and filling the room.

Hiei smirked, "Is that all you have to say?"

"Hmm?" Seiryu said.

"They're last words, you know."

"Fine! So that is your choice! Then you shall meet your death with the other weaklings!" Seiryu shouted. "Ughhhhh!" He shot out smoke at Hiei, who used his sword to slice through it. The smoke went around the group and blasted two large holes in the wall.

Kuwabara stared at the hole just to the right of him,"Hey! Be careful!"

"Try blocking this!" Seiryu shouted, power up his fist again.

"That freeze technique! Run!" Yusuke shouted.

"Ice Dragon!" Seiryu shot the ice out and Hiei jumped up and flipped over the Beast. "I'm sorry, I had forgotten of your impressive speed. Now let's try again!" Seiryu shot out another Ice Dragon attack and Hiei sprinted away.

It was almost like a game of tag. Every time Seiryu would shoot out an attack, Hiei would dodge. They ended covering most of the room in ice.

"He's gonna turn the whole room in to an ice hokey ring." Yusuke said as he wrapped his arms around a shivering Kagome, "Are you okay?"

"I hate the cold."

"It's not just the room." They looked over to see that the the top of Kuwabara's hair was frozen in ice, "Man I wish I had my jacket now." He stammered as he crossed his arms, shaking from the cold.

"Hiei!" Kurama shouted.

They looked over to see that Hiei's left leg had turned to ice while he was jumping in mid air. He put his hand out, used it to stop himself and sat in kneeling position.

"Hey, he's okay." Yusuke smiled, looking at the scene.

"Yeah, don't scare us like that." Kuwabara grouched.

Kagome shook her head, "No, his leg! He won't be able to run anymore!"

"Hmm. You see, no one ever escapes. Only beg for mercy. With your leg frozen, you can't possibly move. I suggest you start groveling." Seiryu said as he started powering up again.

"What can he do?!" Yusuke freaking out.

Seiryu punched his fist out, "Ice Dragon!" Hiei put his sword in front of him and leap at Seiryu. "Now you end!" The shorter demon made it to the other side but his other leg and left arm had been frozen.

Yusuke said, "Hiei!"

"Ha! You have escaped, but you are wounded." Seiryu mocked. Hiei let out a chuckle, "Why are you laughing?"

"So what if your ice trick can kill your wounded friend. It won't work on me." Hiei made a fist with his arm and shattered ice around it. The same thing happened to his legs.

"That's impossible! I shall give one final blow!" Seiryu said, but all of the sudden, blood started seeping from his hat.

Hiei smirked, "I don't think so." Slash marks started appearing all over Seiryu's body. The Dragon Demon screamed until he was swallowed up in smoke and died.

"Damn." Kagome laughed, "He's faster than I thought he was." She ran up to Hiei with Yusuke and nodded in appreciation, "Well done."

"When did he attack?" Kuwabara asked, confused.

"Don't feel bad Kuwabara," Kurama consoled, "I couldn't see it either after the initial hit." He smiled and joined the others.

"Shorty's a lot cooler than I thought!" Kuwabara laughed before following.

Yusuke said,"You made french fries out of that guy!"

"Hiei, how many times did you cut him?"Kurama asked.

Hiei shrugged, "Only sixteen."

"Sixteen?" Yusuke complained with a pout, "Dammit. And here I could only keep track of seven or eight."

"I knew I missed some." Kagome nodded, "I got up to ten hits."

"Impressive." Kurama smiled down at her, "After the first hit, I only saw flashes of light. Your Reiki is a lot stronger than you give it credit."

"Oh, well, you know…" She shrugged, trying to hide a blush.

"I couldn't even see the flashes of light." Kuwabara said pouting.

"Man, this isn't good." Yusuke smiled, "If you use those moves the next time we fight, I'm screwed."

"Maybe." Hiei said, walking away to retrieve his cape.

Yusuke stared, "Hiei?"

"I thought for sure he would have said, 'Well of course, you fool'." Kuwabara said looking at Hiei's back.

"Hiei's going through a tricky change." They looked over at Kurama, "It appears he's beginning to like you."

They all started running up the stairs, hopefully to the final Beast, when Kagome and Kuwabara stopped in their tracks.

"What now! Got cramps?" Yusuke said.

"I'm going to ignore that sexist comment," Kagome growled, "as I'm too freaked out to beat on you."

"My whole brain just felt like an ice cube." Kuwabara said, nodding at Kagome, "Something bad is happening, I think back on Earth. We can both feel it. It's not good."

"No telling how long we've been here, the beasts have already probably started counter attacking using the Makai." Kurama said.

"Only one more, let's not waste time." Hiei said.

The group nodded and started running again.

After getting up the stairs, they came to an large open bridge that connected to another tower.

"Hurry it up!" Yusuke yelled.

"Shut up!" Kuwabara replied. Lightning flashed lighting up the whole area, making them pause for a moment.

"What the hell is that thing?" Yusuke asked.

"The watchtower." Hiei answered. "I'm sure that's where he's hiding."

"Fine! Then let's drag him out," Yusuke said. They resumed running when Yusuke's communicator rang. "What is it now?"

"Small problem," Botan said, popping up on the screen with a girl.

"Keiko?!" Yusuke said loudly.

"I had to pick her up from school, Yusuke. It seems as though every infected person in the area's looking for her." Botan said. Yusuke stopped and the others followed suit. "And I don't think they want to talk. I'm almost certain they mean to kill her."

"Did you say kill?!" Yusuke exclaimed.

"So, that's what Kuwabara and I were feeling." Kagome nodded, "The last Beast must've used the Makai whistle to change their orders. Is Souta there?" She asked, looking at the screen.

"Right here, sis." A hand waved in front of Botan, "Things have gotten worse. You guys need to hurry as fast as you-" They were cut off and the communicator went blank.

"Souta?!"

"Botan?! Are you there?! Botan!" Yusuke yelled.

"I don't have a good feeling about this!" Kuwabara said, shaking.

"Right there with you." Kagome looked at her cousin, "Yusuke."

"We've got to smash that whistle as fast as we can!" He pocketed the communicator with a sigh and looked at the group.

They paused as they came to the foot of the watchtower and stared up.

"Okay, guys, that is a spooky watchtower." Kuwabara grumbled.

"The last beasts should be on the top floor." Kurama nodded grimly.

"Then let's climb some stairs," Yusuke said as he started to move, but Kagome grabbed his shoulder to stop him, "What's up."

"Something… gross. That's the only feeling I'm getting from there." She pointed over to the doors next to the watch tower base and out came the green creatures that looked like they were decaying. "What are they?" She stepped back as more and more came out and blocked the entrance.

"What ever those guys are, there sure are a lot of 'em!" Kuwabara said. "It's gonna take us about a year to beat 'em all!"

"Yes, considering our time restraints, this could be a real problem," Kurama said, none to happy about the situation.

"I've had dealings with Cultivated Humans before." Hiei said, "They do not feel pain or fear."

"How twisted do you have to be to turn humans into monsters like that?!" Kuwabara yelled. "I think Keiko's in some serious trouble."

"Like Hell she is!" Yusuke yelled. "Stupid monster humans trying to slow us down! I'm blowing them all away with my shotgun."

Kurama put a hand on Yusuke's shoulder. "Let's use our heads."

"What? You want me to head butt them?" Yusuke asked.

"Don't be a dimwit." Kagome sighed, "He meant think."

"It's not wise to waste your Spirit Power," Kurama smiled, "The more impatient we are, the more mistakes we'll make."

"Well how is heat butting gonna help? My Shotgun's the only way we're going to get passed them!" Yusuke exclaimed.

"You're still a dimwit."

"No," Hiei said, making them turn to him.

"So you've got an idea?" Kuwabara asked.

"Set your eyes on the first tower window. That is your door."

"Well I'm sorry, Mr. Mysterious, but as it turns out, I forgot to bring my pogo stick!" Yusuke said, sarcastically.

"Yeah!" Kuwabara exclaimed, "How do you expect him to jump that high?"

Kagome rolled her eyes, "You're both dimwits."

"Will you stop calling us that?!" Yusuke yelled, getting annoyed.

"Quit being one and I will."

"I'll need you to listen closely," Hiei said and, ignoring their banter, explained his plan quickly.

"How about a little alteration?" Kagome grinned mischievously as she pulled out her Chakram.

"Whatcha gonna do with that funky neck thing?" Kuwabara pointed down as in confusion.

She sighed, "Just watch. I'm pretty sure there's more waiting. Take out some, more pop up. It's going to be a pretty demented game of wack-a-mole. But we need to start with clearing the field and getting Yusuke up to the window. This will help."

Kagome ran at the cultivated humans with the boys following closely behind her. She infused her Reiki into the Chakram and threw it, clearing the path for the guys.

"Just do me one favor you guys!" Kuwabara yelled as he neared the tower, "Try not to dig in with your shoes, okay?!"

"Hey," Yusuke yelled, "shut up and keep running! Kagome can't keep this up by herself for long, so move it!"

"All right!" Kuwabara said, bracing himself against the base, "Let her rip!"

Kurama went first and jumped up on the teen's shoulders. Using the other two as steps, Hiei followed suite and got on Kurama's shoulders next.

"Hurry up, guys!" Kagome yelled, "These things are coming out faster now. I can't keep up!"

Yusuke ran up all of their backs and launched himself at the window.

Due to the momentum of Yusuke pushing off them, the three guys started to fall forwards. Hiei jumped off Kurama, who jumped off Kuwabara… who fell face first to the ground.

"It'll be close." Kurama said as they watched Yusuke sail through the air. He managed to catch himself on the windowsill.

"We did it!" Kuwabara exclaimed as Yusuke pulled himself up.

"Remind me to try out for the cheerleading squad. You guys have fun with the veggie heads!" Yusuke called down at them.

"Don't die on me!" Kuwabara yelled, "Okay?!"

"Be careful, Yusuke!" Kagome called up, "I like having you around!"

He smiled down at her and gave a thumbs up before leaving.

"Typical." She sighed as they were now fully surrounded by the Cultivated Humans. "Great." She put the Chakram away and pulled out her bow, "I'm not very good with close up combat yet. Nothing like a trial by fire."

"Don't worry." Kurama nodded, "Do your best and stick close to me and Hiei. Anymore gadgets on you, I'd utilize them as much as possible."

"I've got a few."

"Good. We're going to need them."

They looked over at Kuwabara's growl, "Poor guys, I'm gonna feel bad kicking your butts!" He ran forward and started punching the creatures.

Kurama used his Rose Whip and Hiei used his sword. Kagome started ducking punches and used her bow as weapon, knocking them away from her.

"If there are demons on my side who doesn't want to get purified," She called as she pulled out an arrow, "you might want to duck."

Kurama and Hiei nodded to each other and, grabbing Kuwabara's arm, crouch down onto the ground.

She notched the arrow and pulled it back, "Are you good!"

"Go!"

She infused it with her Reiki and let loose. The arrow lit up with a bright blue light and destroyed all the Cultivated Human on the deck. "It won't stop them," She nodded as more started to slowly come out, "but it'll give us a little breathing room." She looked at the other three, "I can hold my own, to an extent, so when it gets to be more unbearable for me…"

Hiei nodded, "You'll need to shoot another arrow. Good. Just keep warning us."

"No problem." She looked at the approaching creatures, "Round 2?"

Kurama smirked, "More fun."

Kagome burrowed closer to her mate, "Yoko?"

"It's okay. They won't hurt you." He looked up at the two females and smiled, "You do realize whose property you're on, don't you?"

They hesitated, "Um…"

"I'll take that as a no." He stood up and pulled his new mate up with him, "Girls, this is Kagome. She just agreed to be my mate."

"Finally!" The one with her hair in half buns exclaimed, "You've been dreading asking her for months. I wanted to smother you with a pillow." She smiled big as she walked over to the Miko and shook her hand, "I'm happy to finally meet you. My name is Momoka, but you can call me Momo." She deadpanned, "Just Momo. Please. I hate my full name."

"Um, no problem." Kagome looked at the girl's ears, "You're an Inu Hanyou."

"Very good." Momo had white hair with pale pink streaks in them. She wore a Fire Rat Hakama like Inuyasha's, except it was a pink and black short dress with slits on either side. She had black knee length leggings, black leg warmers and matching fingerless gloves.

"This is my half sister Sayuri, but only call her Yuri. I was already an outcast, being a Hanyou and all, and she left her noble family to be with me."

"Might as well tell her all of it." The sister, a full-blooded Inu Youkai, had long white hair that was braided down to her waist. She was dressed in black Sashinuki Hakama pants that were tied at the ankles, a red sash tied at her waist, a black bodysuit with diamond cut-outs on the sides, a red bolero wrap that had long flared sleeves and tied just under her chest, red slippers and black fingerless gloves.

"My family are technically next in line for the Western Lands…"

"Which we're in." Yoko reminded them.

She sighed, "Right. Wasn't paying attention to that. Um, the old lord was killed by the Dragons of the North, trying to gain more land and power. My father died before Momo was born…"

"My mother was a human servant at their home. His wife kicked her out when they found out she was pregnant and our uncle killed him for defiling our lineage."

"Jackass."

Yuri smiled at the Miko, "Well said. Same said uncle decided we needed to usurp Sesshomaru and take over the Western Lands. Best way to do that? I had to marry the new Lord of the North. Heaven forbid we breed with humans, but dragons are okay." She shuddered, "I refused. The guy creeped me out to no end. I don't mind killing, when necessary, but he enjoyed. I found out that he bathed in the blood of his victims."

"That's sick."

"Tell me about it. Anyways, I ran away and found Mimi."

"My mom." Momo giggled, "She took care of her and helped bring me into the world. Unfortunately, my mom died when I was 15, due to illness. But, Yuri never left my side. We ran into Yoko by accident."

"They tried to steal from me."

"Accidentally." Momo stressed, "Anyways, he saw potential in us, brought us into his little band of thieves and taught us how not to get caught." She shrugged, "I like it. It's a living." She smirked, "I prefer pranks."

"She's really good at them, too." Yuri nodded. She started to speak again, but froze. She grabbed a couple of Sais out of… somewhere, and turning around fast, aiming the point at the throat of the demon who came up behind her, "Oh, crap." She dropped her Sais and stepped back, "I'd bow my head, but I wanna be able to see where I'm going when I start running for my life."

"No need." Sesshomaru smirked, "I knew Yoko and Kagome were here and when I felt two strange Inu Demons near them, I thought I'd check it out."

"How much of our story did you hear?"

"All of it." He frowned, "I know of your family. They're constantly causing unrest."

"Not my problem. I want nothing to do with them. I left all of that behind a couple hundred years ago, okay. Please don't take it out on me."

"I won't." He looked at the ring on Kagome's hand and smiled, "I told him you would say yes. He worried for nothing."

"He's a doofus." She hugged her new mate, "But he's my doofus."

"As long as we're clear on that. Where's my idiot brother?"

"At Kaede's village. He thinks I went home."

"Talk about a doofus."

"I think you've been hanging around me too much." Kagome chuckled, "You're starting to pick up on some of my phrases."

"Just because I'm starting to like you, Miko, doesn't mean I have to be nice." He tried to mock a growl, but it came out as a cough to disguise a laugh,"Rin's been rubbing off on me too much. Not sure if I like it."

"You love that little girl. You just don't know how to show it."

Yoko smirked, "The Ice Price? Love? He doesn't know how."

"I think you'd be surprised by what someone can learn." Yuri chuckled, "After, Yoko learned to love you and he's a right ass."

"Thanks." The fox nodded, smiling down at his mate, "I feel the love from them."

"It's radiating from them."

"I like her." Momo giggled, "Uh oh." They all turned to the forest in concern, "Dog Demon, coming in fast."

"Inuyasha." Kagome sighed, "He must've tormented the truth out of Shippo." She sook her head, "I swear, if he hurt my kit, I'm going to sit him so hard, he's going to end up on the other side of the world."

"Sit?" Momo asked, confused.

"Long story." The was a rustle of leaves as Inuyasha burst into the clearing, furious. "And he's going to rant."

"Look here, wench!" The male Hanyou started yelling, "We have too much to do for you to go running off by yourself. It's bad enough when head home for a couple of days, wasting good Shard hunting time, but now you're sneaking off onto my psycho brother's lands. And with him," he pointed to Yoko, "of all people! I told you months ago that I didn't want him around and that you were to stop seeing him!"

"And I told you that you are not my boss and if you didn't quit yelling at me all the time, I was going to have Kaede teach me how to alter the charm on those beads. Do you really want it to come to that?" They got up in each other's faces, glaring, "Furthermore, Yoko is now my mate!" He stepped back in shock, "Which means you're going to be seeing a lot more of him. So get used to it!"

"W-what? Why would you do that? He's a thief!"

She sighed, "I love him, Yasha. I told you that. And, I'm sorry, but I don't need your approval. I would like your blessing because he's going to joining us more often to help search for the shards."

His fist clenched as he growled, "He's childhood friends of my brother's."

"I know. He's right behind us."

Inuyasha, so focused on finding Kagome, didn't pay attention to the fact that his brother was in the same clearing… as well as two female Inu Demons. "Great."

Sesshomaru had lost his smile when he sensed Inuyasha coming and put on his stoic high-born Ice Prince face. "Always one for words, Little Brother."

Yasha stuttered, "W-what did you call me?"

"Don't make me repeat it." The Western Lord looked at Yuri, quirking a brow, "If you're ever passing through again, stop by the palace. We'll keep a fire warming for you. I travel a lot, so if you ever want to join, feel free to beat up on Jakan. He doesn't get it enough."

She smirked, "Will do."

Kagome smiled up at her mate, "This is going to be fun to watch."

"Agreed."

To be continued…
