Not Nintendo, or Riordan, I do not own any of this except for my own imaginings of it. As before Fierce Deity's name in this story was NOT created by me I just used it because I couldn't think of one of my own.
Chapter Fifteen
Reunion
Third Person Zelda POV
It had been a week since the evacuation from Camp Half-Blood. A whole agonizing week of not knowing where her husband was or (despite her assurances to her daughter) what condition he was in was causing her increasing stress. The doctors at Camp Jupiter told her that it was very important that she try to avoid becoming intensely agitated or scared for the health of her baby. She struggled to do so, she knew full well that it was the best thing she could do for her yet to be born child, but this time away from her beloved despite the fact that she was so close to giving birth was driving her mad. She didn't want to deliver her baby if her husband wasn't there to be by her side.
Annabeth and Percy had been very generous and graciously allowed her to stay with them. Everyone in Camp Jupiter shared her conviction that her husband would return soon. The other races particularly were insistent on this when it at first seemed like he had sacrificed himself for Camp Half-Blood. As Zelda reflected on the generosity she'd been shown, she again remembered how the day after they'd arrived, Annabeth bought her a couple sets of clothes that were elastic, considering the current point in her pregnancy. Zelda appreciated this greatly as her nightgown was hardly practical attire for anything other than sleeping. She hadn't had the time to get anything from home before they evacuated, it hadn't been important then, not like the lives of her and her children.
This thought led her again to her husband, she looked out over the New Rome skyline. 'Where are you my love?' She asked mentally, although she knew she wouldn't get an answer. With just about one week until she was predicted to give birth to her and Link's next child, she was more desperate than ever to get any information about him. None of the outposts had seen any sign of him, but she knew he was alive, and everyone else believed her because of how they were both connected via their pieces of the Triforce. However, she got a lucky break today. As she was sitting on the porch of Percy and Annabeth's house, people in the streets began shouting and pointing at something out of her sightline.
She looked down at her daughter, Ilia looked back at her, puzzled.
"Ilia go tell Percy and Annabeth I'll be right back, I'm going to go find out what's going on." Zelda informed her little girl.
"OK mommy." Ilia responded before making her way inside.
Zelda walked at a moderate pace off the porch and over to where people were gathering. She suppressed her instinct to go faster, no point risking any kind of injury to herself or the little one inside her. As she approached the gathered spectators of…whatever…she noticed that there were members of the different races here as well. She shouldn't have been surprised by that though, and she wasn't, what did surprise her was what they were saying.
"Hey! Do you see that?" Exclaimed a Zora soldier.
"What, you mean that reddish brown dot in the sky?" Asked a Goron.
"That's not a dot, that's a…what in Hylia's name is that?" A Gerudo warrior started before finishing with a question.
Zelda looked where they were pointing and her heart soared. She couldn't validate such with her eyes, which only registered a little blotch in the sky that was approaching Camp Jupiter. However, her piece of the Triforce was beginning to glow a little brighter and hum slightly. That meant he was coming! Her husband was finally here! It was him! It was her husband! Her knees went weak with relief, Link was almost here!
"Are you alright Mrs. Parker?" One of the Hylians asked her.
"Oh, yes, I'm fine, thank you." She replied quickly.
"Wait a minute!" A Rito captain exclaimed, "That's a Pegasus! And not just any Pegasus, it's Epona!"
All the gathered people became extremely excited upon hearing this. There were many exclamations of amazement and awe, some even started cheering and yelling her husband's name. The noise drew in other people and soon a veritable crowd was gathering as the Pegasus drew closer. The Roman eagles also took notice and began excitedly screeching and circling the Pegasus as it came closer and closer.
Zelda didn't need the sharp eyes of a Rito now to see the rider on the back of the Pegasus. It was most definitely Link, he was maybe no more than about four hundred feet away when he made eye contact with her. Her face automatically split into a huge smile of joy. She wouldn't have been able to wipe it away even if she tried. Her husband gave an enormous grin in return, his eyes never once leaving hers as he landed Epona in the streets. Zelda was dimly aware of how her husband now had a bow strapped to his back in addition to his sword and shield. A quiver of arrows was clipped to his belt near the slate.
She rushed over to his side before the throng of people gathered could mob him in excessive enthusiasm. She took his face in her hands and pulled him into a long, loving kiss, completely unconcerned about the fact that they had an audience right now. After a minute, she pulled away a little and moved to one side of him, taking one of his hands in hers.
"Link! I'm so relieved you're back and unharmed! Wait…you are unharmed, right?" She asked suddenly nervous, she didn't see any wounds on him but what if they were hidden?
"Don't worry dear, I'm perfectly alright, just tired." He replied, sounding utterly exhausted.
She suppressed a giggle at his statement of the obvious, and simply said, "I'm not surprised my darling!"
As she started helping back to Percy and Annabeth's house she turned her head back to the people gathered behind them.
"Take Epona to the stables and get her taken care of." She stated.
"Right away!" A Hylian soldier nodded and began gently leading a very tired Epona away.
Fortunately, everyone dispersed then, giving them some much appreciated privacy.
"So, how have things been here?" Link asked, still sounding tired.
"Oh, they've been good." She replied happily, their destination growing steadily closer.
"Hmmm." He hummed, leaning a little more heavily against her. "Sleepy." He mumbled.
"Hey, no! No sleeping yet!" She giggled softly, "Hold on that until I can get you inside."
"That reminds me, where have you been staying?" He asked, sounding a little more awake but still thoroughly fatigued.
"I've been staying with Percy and Annabeth, they've let me borrow their spare bedroom." She answered.
"That's good." He said simply.
"Oh, and I should probably say there's someone there who's been eagerly awaiting you." She added.
"Hmm, and how is that little angel of ours?" He asked.
"She's doing just fine!" Zelda replied, as they stepped up onto the porch. "She's been asking me every day if you're going to be back soon."
"Well she can stop waiting now." He said, voice tired but warm with affection for their little girl.
Zelda opened the door, Percy and Annabeth both turned to look in her direction at the sound.
"Zelda? What was everyone…?" Annabeth trailed off, noticing Link standing behind Zelda.
"Link?!" Percy exclaimed, sounding both relieved and amazed.
Before Link could even say anything in reply, there was a sudden rush of small footsteps on the stairs nearby. This was immediately followed by a loud cry in Ilia's voice.
"Daddy!" Ilia screamed at the top of her lungs as she hurtled down the stairs and charged towards her father and before Zelda could say anything, was literally leaping entirely off the floor and throwing herself at him, so desperate was she to greet her father again.
Despite his exhaustion, his arms still came up to catch her, clearly on instinct. However, once she was actually in his arms, he seemed to melt with his love for her. He hugged her tightly to him, burying his nose in Ilia's hair and softly telling her how much he missed her and was glad to see her again. Ilia wiggled a little in delight, Zelda hated to break them up but her husband deserved his rest.
"Now, Ilia! Your father's just been through a very tiring ordeal! He needs his rest, you can do whatever after he's gotten enough rest to recover. Now let go of him alright?" She firmly told their little darling.
Ilia grumbled and pouted but complied and reluctantly let go of her father. She sulkily moved over to the side and watched as her mother helped her father up the stairs to the guest bedroom. Zelda got Link into the room and gently but firmly laid him down on the bed to nap after unstrapping his gear from his back and leaning them against the wall nearby. She gently, almost reverently removed the Master Sword last. She was so grateful to the spirit within it, Fi had saved her husband in their last life, and she had assisted him many times in this life. The sword briefly flashed when she touched it and she knew Fi was pleased that she safe as well. Zelda was just turning around to walk out when he gripped her wrist.
"Please, don't go yet." He said, voice bleary with tiredness. "Stay with me, keep me company please. It's been a long week, tell me about what I missed."
She knew what he was referring to, "Well, the doctors here confirmed my guess. We're going to have a son, my love!" He smiled at this.
"Hmmm, that's nice." He said, eyes closed but looked very peaceful.
For the next half-hour or so, Zelda crouched by her husband, just talking to him as he rested. Even if he wasn't sleeping exactly, she was perfectly happy to do this. Finally, his breathing deepened as he sank fully into sleep. She stood carefully, so as not to wake him, pressed a quick kiss to his cheek, and left the room.
That evening when she joined her husband in bed, he was still sleeping, although he had shifted position by this point. She smiled softly to herself as she observed him, it was funny actually, when he slept the word to describe him was not handsome. Rather it was cute, he looked so adorable when he slept. This was because at least as long as they'd been married, he'd had this little quirk about him that she'd never told him about. Whenever he slept he a tendency to suck on his lower lip slightly, so adorable. After she climbed into bed beside him he automatically pulled her against his chest, she happily curled up in his arms. She couldn't erase the smile from her face, there was much to smile about after all, her beloved was back with her again. And soon the three of them would be four, in just a week they would have a son. However, she also nestled herself against him as close as she possibly could, feeling a budding sense of terror of losing him again.

My POV
One month had passed since I returned to my wife and we were sitting outside, enjoying the view of New Rome's skyline. I sat beside her on the couch on Percy and Annabeth's front porch, telling Ilia a story. I don't think Zelda knew which one exactly, as she likely couldn't hear the words I was saying, but that was OK. She was currently holding our infant son in her arms, he was a cute little boy, Zelda and I had decided to name him Michael after his grandfather, my father. It had been Zelda's idea actually, when she'd suggested it, my eyes had watered and I hugged and thanked her, voice thick with emotion. Michael, as expected, was a blend of features from us. He had my wheat-blonde hair and tan skin tone, but his eyes were emerald green like his mother's.
My poor Zelda now frequently woke in the late hours of the night or early hours of the morning in terror after having another nightmare in which something bad happened to me. I did my best to comfort her, to reassure her it was just a bad dream and that I was here and that I was fine as I held her in my arms. I could easily understand why she was now suffering night terrors, she'd almost lost me, that was bound to leave her traumatized. She'd suffered the same thing in our last life together after the calamity's defeat, as she relived the night where I died in her arms. Comfort her as I did, only time would really heal her of course. She was slowly improving now, her rate of waking from nightmares slowly dropping.
I hadn't yet told her how I'd managed to survive that night. She was happy that I did of course…but she was a very curious person though. As far as she was concerned by all accounts I should have been killed…that is with the information she knew. Something else had clearly transpired…if only she knew.
"Darling, there's…uh...something I should tell you." I suddenly broke into her thoughts.
She looked over at me, looking back at her, feeling a little hesitant. She immediately knew what I wanted to say. She told me to wait just a moment and took our children inside, telling Ilia to play inside while mom and dad talked, and placing Michael down for a nap. When she got back outside, I was still waiting for her. I probably looked a little tense and uncertain, because she sat down right beside me and took one of my hands in hers.
"It's OK, you can tell me." She told me soothingly, "What happened?"
"First can you tell me how much you know already about that…" I trailed off, then resumed, "that you already know about that night?"
She tilted her head a little, "You faced down the guardians as the chariots lifted off, then I lost sight of you behind some smoke. When I saw you again the guardians had just fired their beams at you. I thought you'd been killed then Link! But then you were still there and you jumped a hundred feet straight up in the air and crashed down and then there was a huge explosion. I thought you died my love!" She said, voice rising in distress at the end.
My face twisted a little into an expression of shame and guilt for causing her worry, "Yes but that isn't all that happened."
"What else happened darling?" She asked curiously.
"Just before the guardians fired their beams, everything froze. Time literally stopped Zelda, the guardians, the chariots, everything was completely frozen in place!" I exclaimed.
Her eyebrows rose at this, I continued, "Then, they came. The champions, Zelda, the champions came down from the heavens to me."
"You mean…?" She asked, breathless now.
"Yes, my love, all four of them. Revali, Daruk, Mipha, and Urbosa." They all appeared before me and spoke with me." I answer.
"What did they say?" She queried sounding hungry for information on them.
"They each had something to say, Revali apologized for his treatment of me in our last life." I paused, then added, "Daruk told me I had the heart of a Goron."
"And Urbosa and Mipha?" Zelda asked softly.
"Urbosa and Mipha, they…they've been watching over us for years Zelda. They told me how happy they are for us. Mipha in particular said she was glad to see us find true happiness together. I also tried to apologize for not telling her in our last life when I freed her spirit in Vah Ruta that I hadn't returned her feelings for me. She told me she already knew." I state.
"Did they say anything else?" Zelda continues her questions.
"Not exactly but they did each give me something." I hesitated a moment, "They gave me their powers, Zelda. They bestowed their champion abilities to me again."
Zelda's eyes widen now, "Really?" She asks, voice delicate at this.
"Yes, darling, a part of them now lives inside me. I know how much Urbosa meant to you in our last life, but she wouldn't want you to be sad you know. She would want you to be able to continue living in happiness." I reassure her.
"Yes, you're right." She nods and smiles at me softly.
"There was one other thing though." I stop, uncertain if I should really add this last part.
"What is it?" She asked.
I hesitate, Zelda wasn't present when I first encountered Kinshin, the fierce deity. She hadn't been there with me in that strange land of Termina, hadn't experienced the horrifying and nightmare fuel events that transpired there. The onslaught of the hideously evil entity that called itself Majora and resided inside a creepy mask. This mask was very unsettling just to look at, I'd found a replica of it in my lifetime as the hero of the wild and it really gave me an eerie feeling. The mask had no nose or mouth, just two large orange eyes. The mask was also ringed with spines, the whole appearance of it was extremely unsettling. I tried my best to wear it as little as possible.
"Link?" My wife asks me, becoming a little nervous now.
"This is going to sound a little strange Zelda; do you promise to believe me?" I ask hesitantly.
"Of course, my love! I know you'd never lie about something like this." She answers quickly.
I then proceeded to first describe my experience multiple lifetimes ago when I traveled to Termina and found the land in peril of destruction from the Moon crashing down. I told her how utilizing the ocarina of time, I saved the land of Termina. I explained how I had used a variety of masks, but that there was one that stood out above all the others. A mask that was quite an enigma, not much information was available on it, nothing other than a name and short description. The mask was referred to as the fierce deity's mask and that it was described that it could give its wearer the power of a dark god. I explained how with this item I had absolutely thrashed the evil Majora like he was an insignificant insect. How as powerful as Majora was, it wasn't even close to being in the same league as a god. Then, necessary background information given, I began to explain my encounter with Kinshin during the flight from Camp Half-Blood, and relayed everything he said to me.
Zelda took it pretty well actually, she was thankful for Kinshin's assistance, he'd allowed me to come back to her after all. I was immensely grateful to him for the same reason of course. As a side note, as if someone were telling this as a story, I had also returned Zelda's favorite outfit to her when I returned. How it had ended up in the slate's inventory is beyond me as the last time I'd seen it was before the flight from Camp Half-Blood, it was most definitely not there. But oh well, I guess I'll never know. Nine weeks later, when our little son was just about three months old, the leaders or representatives as the case was of the other races informed us of something of great importance.
It was during a council meeting, I was taking notes as my beloved wife was not attending this meeting, as she was looking after our youngest child. I was pulled out of my thoughts of how Ilia had been delighted to have a sibling, she already adored her little brother and it warmed mine and Zelda's hearts to see how much she cared about her brother.
"Sir? Is something troubling you?" A voice cuts into my thoughts.
I jumped slightly, looking at the speaker. It was Cedra, the Gerudo chief.
"Sorry, what was that?" I say sitting up a little straighter.
"I was just saying to everyone that we have important news, you and your wife might find this of particular interest." She responds.
"What is it?" I ask, feeling embarrassed now.
"Well…" she trails off, making eye contact with the representatives of the Gorons, Zora, and Rito.
"We all something that might be of great help in the situation." Prince Ralis speaks up. "We have the divine beasts, and people to pilot them."
I've never actually played Majora's Mask, the information here from that game comes second hand from what I've heard about it.
