Bo and Vex.

The succubus sighed in relief when she finally found the Mesmer. She had been in club after club looking for him. Everyone she asked said they hadn't seen him. It was all starting to piss her off and it still is. Something is going on between Aife and Lauren and it's giving her all kinds of images. The wrong images. Not her mother and Lauren. Hell no. She walked slowly around the bar. Vex hasn't seen her yet. He's too busy talking to a group of men. They look like Lauren and her clique just the previous night. Happy and drinks flowing.

"The succubus is staring at you." A man nodded towards Vex.

"I know. I smelled her the minute she walked in." Vex laughed as he took his drink and moved away from the bar.

"Stop right there, Vex!." Bo screamed.

"I'm Dark Fae, not your freaking human or wolf. I don't have to do a bloody thing that you ask of me." Vex laughed and wiggled his ass in the air.

"I just want to talk, that's all." Bo replied.

"Talk. Talk. Talk. You've been talking since we arrived home. It's getting redundant and tiresome." Vex took a seat and planted his back against the wall.

"Just tell me what is going on between them or what happened between them and I will leave." Bo stood at the head of the table and watched the Mesmer wave people away.

"Be on your way. I won't tell you a damn thing about them or me. We are as thick as thieves." Vex laughed

"It is not funny, Vex. I want to know." Bo clenched her hands into fists.

"It is funny. There is something that you don't know and it is driving you crazy. Crazy because you don't know and can't run and blab to Kenzi and Dyson. Crazy because Lauren won't fuck you relentlessly like your dog will. I watched you idiots gossip about her like she was your dog. Dyson didn't tell you about your mother and Kenzi forgave him. Lauren slept with you because she wanted to and Kenzi hates her. So, fuck off thinking you can come here and damage our clique. Go back to your basic one and leave the genius clique well alone." Vex turned serious. He had been angling to pull strings to get him the Morrigan position but this is much better. Aife is a crazy bitch and he loves it. Loves being on her good side. It has tons of perks and matching prestige. The Elders fear them and it is hilarious. They thought Aife long dead but now she's back and busting balls without ever having to lift a finger.

"Kenzi and Dyson do like Lauren. We all do. I just want to know what's going on so that I can help, Lauren." Bo closed her eyes and opened them again.

"She doesn't need your kind of bumbling help. She's doing well for herself. Should she need help, Aife and I will be right there. Fixing something or kicking asses. We are hers now and she is ours. You made your choice. The human, the valkyrie and the wolf." Vex waved for Bo to be removed. Just as soon as Bo started to say something else, she was pulled out of the bar. The Una Mens stood staring coldly and lifelessly at her. She wishes she could kick their asses but understands their powers would be her powers if she attacks them.

She threw her arms in the air and looked around. It was still early and the sun was out. Going to the Dal is out because Kenzi would have a lot of questions and Bo wouldn't have any answers. Not even bullshit ones. The doctor is probably already elbow deep in her work and Aife, well there is no telling where the succubus is.

Lauren

The blonde yawned and stretched. It was still early and she had one too many the previous night. But being a scientist, she knew how to handle a hangover. Pulling on her lab coat, she opened for business. "Welcome. Those who need immediate treatment will be first in line. Those of you needing to be treated for minor injuries will be treated as soon as possible. Let's get to it." She clapped her hands. Ahh, being a doctor. This makes all those long nights and last minute mental quizzes worth it.

The Una Mens stood outside. They stayed keeping the Fae away and allowing humans inside. It was almost pathetic what the Fae had come up with just to get in. To be the first to say they got past Aife's gang.

The Dal.

The music was low and the glasses were filled. As much money was pouring in, you'd think this would be time to celebrate but it looked like the dullest time in cheers. Everyone knew everyone's names and that was the extent of it. Kenzi sat at the far end of the bar so that she could keep an eye on who comes in and who leaves. She looked to her left and remembered the time Bo and Lauren were flirting. Even though she despised the woman, she knew there would eventually be something between them even if Bo assumed the woman would die. But she didn't. Her science helped her survive rounds with the succubus. Succubus. Bo is cool to have around but Aife? No. She has to be up to something nasty. The last time Kenzi saw her, she was hanging by Bo's hand. Then ripped her own hand from Bo's and dropped to the ground. By the time they made it to her, she was gone. Nothing left but a big ass spot of blood. It didn't drip from that spot. How? How is she still alive? Who saved her? These are answers Kenzi needs so that she can help Bo with whatever her next step is. Trick refuses to make a move and Dyson won't take a step without the Blood King's approval.

"Forget it, Kenz. We can't do anything." Dyson sat beside her and waited for his drink. He looked around the Dal. Not the usual crowd but still a crowd. He hadn't seen the bar this somber since the Queen's funeral.

"They are afraid of Aife and the Una Mens." Trick stepped forward.

"I could take Bo away. It would get her mind off of Lauren and it would get her away from Aife and whatever evil she's about to bring down on the colony." Dyson turned back to Trick.

"No. Dyson. We know what your idea of taking Bo away means. Just stay your ass here or at home and stay out of trouble. We don't know what's coming and I need you to be healthy." Trick leaned forward against the counter.

"So, sit and do nothing. Let Aife tear up the colony that you had to clean up after the Queen died. You had to show up here. Like you were a human. Like you weren't you." Dyson whispered.

"Tone it down. If you make a scene, it won't help. If they find out who I really am, you would have a mess of your own to clean up and would have to bury me." Trick whispered.

"You die? Please and thank you." Aife laughed as she walked up to stand beside Trick. Goosebumps instantly popped up all over him. A cold chill went down his spine. Every imaginable and paranoid terror that can happen to a body happened to him.

"I didn't call you here. They don't know who I am and I can't take the chance of them finding out." Trick whispered.

"Oh, they know who I am. They just don't know where my daddy is." Aife laughed and slapped Trick's back.

"What are your plans for Lauren?." Kenzi asked.

The succubus turned cold eyes on the woman and responded. "Don't you worry your sorry little ass about the good doctor. Your wolf, your free booze and my daughter are available to you but stay away from Lauren. She doesn't deserve the pitiful game you try to run on everyone and it worked on the bartender here." She slapped Trick's back again and it really stung this time. He stood straight up and popped his neck.

"It's a good question. One you have yet to answer. Even for Bo. Doesn't she deserve to know?." Dyson asked.

"She deserves nothing!." Aife's voice shocked the room and they all turned to the bar.

"Quiet down." Trick warned the trio.

"He's talking to the two of you. He knows better than to try and order me around." Aife slapped his back for the third time with her fist and walked away.

Aife and the Una Mens.

"While we have a few minutes, I want security amped up around Lauren's clinic and her home. Vex and I will handle the rest but her safety and comfort is top priority. If someone gets near her that doesn't look right, slice their necks. If someone gets near her house, blow them up at a safe distance. These bumbling fools at the Dal Riata are making plans. You know my plans. Obey my orders and we will all have a long life of fun and kicking ass." The succubus spoke through her speaker phone. When she got a response out of everyone, she dropped the call. Time to check on her own house and it damn sure better be ready.

Bo

Bo sat in her car just across from Lauren's clinic. She watched the Una Mens turn Fae after Fae away. Or she assumed they were all Fae. They looked in her direction with no emotions and went back to checking people. For it to be a clinic, it looked like a bar or hotel. There's even a rope for people to line up behind. Either Lauren or Aife aren't playing around.

One guy clutching his chest was immediately escorted in. She sat there as hours passed by and perked up when her favorite blonde walked out of the building. She smiled at the sight of Lauren smiling and talking to Sara. They looked wiped but rejuvenated. She looked at the time and the clock read ten after noon. She watched them walk into the parking lot and emerge minutes later. Either they are heading home or to lunch. Probably lunch since they were sharing a car.

Lauren and Sara.

"She's back there, you know." Sara looked at Lauren.

"I know. She's been here for hours." Lauren replied as she checked the rear view mirror.

"It's kind of sad, Lauren. She watches you like she's a private eye." Sara drank her coffee and took in the view.

"That's her job and yes, she's watching me." Lauren nodded and stopped for the red light. Bo pulled up slowly behind her.

"You will have to talk to her or we will never be able to have our lunch, peacefully. After a late morning and early lunch rush, we deserve time out of the office." Sara adjusted her seatbelt.

"When I park the car, you can go in and reserve our table. Then I can talk to her while you wait to be seated. It won't be a long conversation. She probably just wants to know when I'm coming back to her." Lauren spoke softly.

"Is she waiting for nothing?." Sara asked. "I'm not trying to poke my nose into whatever that is but she comes with you and you come with work. It won't look good or professional to our patients if you are constantly talking to her instead of treating them." Sara gently waved to a stranger on the street.

"My work will always come first. It is all I really have at the moment besides Vex and Aife." Lauren turned on the green light and after a half a mile drive, they turned into a parking lot.

"Ooo the food here is to die for!." Sara smiled.

"It is. The lot doesn't look jammed so it shouldn't take too long to get a table." Lauren climbed out and stood near her door. Bo walked over to them. She glared at Sara as the woman walked towards the building.

"Hi, Lauren." Bo softly smiled.

"Hi, Bo." Lauren nodded.

"Can we talk?." Bo asked.

"Make it quick, I'm on lunch." Lauren checked her watch. It had only been a few minutes. She pushed her hair over her shoulders and took a deep breath.

"I just want to know what's going on with you, Lauren. I thought you were dead since I didn't hear from you. I know you and Dyson made a plan but he never heard from you either, that I know of. I just want to know what's going on with you. You are so cold, distant and don't seem to give a shit about any of us." Bo wanted to frown but didn't.

"Bo, I'm living my life. That's all that I can tell you. I know you're not happy with it and are probably expecting me to be as submissive as Dyson would be, but I'm not going to fall into your arms. I am building my life. It is nothing personal, this is just me being me. I don't go looking for you like you come looking for me. There's too much shit tied to my old life that I need to break free from. There's Kenzi barely acknowledging our relationship unless I can do something for her. There's Dyson. We all know what he thinks and wants. You don't like how I returned and that's fine but I won't go out of my way to give up any progress that I've made. You want a relationship and I don't. Not one that I get lost in and backburned for. Now, I've stayed out here longer than I intended to. Bye, Bo." Just like that, Lauren walked away. Leaving Bo shocked like every counter she has had recently with the doctor. She smiled knowing Lauren took that long to talk to her instead of telling her to fuck off. She frowned thinking of what she said about Kenzi and Dyson. Perhaps they feel that way because Bo allowed them to do so. She told them she loves the woman but Lauren doesn't feel respected by them. She was right about Dyson because he asked Bo almost hourly to sleep with him when Lauren was gone. Bo fed from strangers but never took them to bed. Her body only aches for Lauren and she feels it most when her body touches her bed. All of that withstanding, she still seethes at Aife claiming Lauren. She doesn't know that answer and Lauren wasn't about to offer any during her answer just now. If she wants to know that answer, she must go to the source. Shouldn't be too hard to find her, all she has to do is...she jumped into her car and sped away. She can't make a scene there and disturb Lauren's lunch. Now that she actually eats lunch. She zipped through traffic and parked again. She ran into the building and didn't stop until she found who she was looking for. With one big fist, she swung.

"What the hell?!." Gordn screamed.

"Get Aife here, now." Bo stood over the man as he held his nose.

"I don't summon her. She comes when she wants to." Gordon stood up and never backed up.

"Then take me to her house. If you know where that is." Bo pointed towards the door.

"Is there a problem, Gordon?." The Keeper stepped forward.

"This bitch is looking for Aife." Gordn replied.

"The succubus is not to be disturbed. If you need something, get it yourself." The Keeper walked over and handed Gordon an ice pack.

"Fine, since you seem emotionless, why did she claim Dr. Lewis?." Bo asked.

"We don't answer those questions. Besides that happened before we came under Aife's employ." The Keeper made Gordon sit down.

"Then it's back to him then. What do you know? Tell me now and I won't kill you." Bo stepped to Gordon again.

"I know nothing. If I did, you would be the last person that I would tell, bully." Gordon stayed behind the Keeper. "Do your job, Gordon. The succubus will leave."

"Gladly." Gordon stood and walked behind the bar.

"Get out." The Keeper walked Bo backwards until she was near the door.

"Meet me now." Bo spat into her phone. Half an hour later, she was still waiting. Trying to goad Aife into meeting her didn't work. She had no idea where the succubus was. She screamed and heard her succubus growl at the same time. She needs to know. It is her only chance of breaking down Lauren's walls. She has to do what is even harder for her to do, wait.

Trick

After pulling some strings, Trick grabbed his hat and exited the bar. Once he was on the street, he jumped into a car and it sped off. Minutes later, the car parked and he climbed out.

"What do you want, Aife?." Trick asked.

"Remember that time you caught me playing in your vault and I came upon a special box? I thought it was a jewelry box of mothers and you yanked it out of my little hand. Well, after some talk with the Keeper, it seems they are looking for this and the Blood King. Every call you make, I will always have ears listening. So, try and fuck with me or mine again, old man, I will hand it to her and say the wicked dick is dead." Aife stood and bounced the box in her hand. Trick watched it like a patient being hypnotized.

Lauren's clinic.

"You know here I thought Bo needed to keep her dog on a leash. Yet, here is her human needing medical assistance." Vex laughed.

"Go away. Oww. Oo. Oww." Kenzi groaned as she limped towards the front door.

"You didn't have that ooo ooo oww oow, until you got close. It's almost time for Lauren to go home. "Get out of here." The Mesmer raised his arms and pushed Kenzi down the street. He smiled and made her run instead.
