I do not own Hetalia okay? I honestly don't have much else to say here, so enough of the A/N, on with the fic!

Alfred sat in the student union, poking at his hamburger looking at his phone. It had taken him all his resolve to focus on the lessons he was being taught. It was for Ivan after all, he had put him onto a new career path he actually enjoyed. However, worry overcame him when it came to if he had gotten home safe. He was told it would be 16 hours, but he had gotten messages of delays in both London and Helsinki. He kept an eye on the weather over Europe hoping he would get home okay. It was winter after all and weather was going to be bad. Just knowing this however, did not ease any of Alfred's concerns. It had been nearly 24 hours since Ivan's plane was scheduled to leave and he was aware of some of the delays Ivan had, but it did not ease much of his concerns.

"Well, I know he wants me to do well and I need to get good grades to get the rest of the degree program..." He sighed. Looking over the book he tried as hard as he could to make sure the words sunk in. At this, he heard a buzz of his phone. Looking over, he smiled. "It's Vanya's phone. Unlocking the phone, he saw the text and read it. "'Dear Fredka, this is Ivan's sister Katyusha. I am happy to tell you that he made it in well and is currently resting from such an exhausting trip. I am glad to see that you have made my malenʹkyy brat so happy. Please call Ivan in a few hours as soon as you can. I know he misses you so much. Wishing you both all the best for the future, Katyusha Braginsky.'" Alfred read to himself. "Well, he's okay then." He smiled. "I should try calling him when I get back. But I have to stick to what I promised." Alfred told himself. Pausing, he typed a response back on his phone. He didn't want to wake Ivan up if he was as tired as his sister had made it seem.

Meanwhile, Ivan woke up and looked around. He was still getting used to time changes from the flight. He noticed his shoes were off an he was tucked in tightly as Katyusha usually did. Looking over at the clock, he had noticed that it was nearly 10 pm. I got in and it was around 4 or 5, have I really been asleep that long? He thought as he got up and looked around. He last remembered his phone in his hand but noticing how he was tucked in, he assumed that Katyusha had taken it and put it on its charger. Mouth feeling dry, he got up and headed to the kitchen where he would get himself a glass of water. Katyusha may be asleep by now, don't want to disturb her…. He thought as he headed into the kitchen and saw Katyusha asleep on the couch in front of the television. Smiling, he headed towards the kitchen, stepping on the one squeaky board he knew was there in the way. Fuck! He thought as he looked up to see Katyusha wake up. "Sis, I didn't mean to wake you." He began.

"Don't worry about it little brother." She smiled. Ivan rolled his eyes. It may have seemed childish he would be upset about it, as he was the younger brother, but he was much taller than she was. "I let your khlopets know that you made it home okay. I saw you were trying to text him when you had fallen asleep." She smiled.

"Thanks." Ivan said as he went to the sink and got himself a glass of water.

"I don't have a problem with it." Katyusha added sitting up. "I think it very adorable." He rolled his eyes. "As long as you are happy, I am happy."

"I don't know how Natalya would react to it." Ivan sighed.

Katyusha paused. "That I am not so sure myself." She had known that Natalya had clung to Ivan growing up and that she would often threaten anyone who got too close to him for her liking. She practically worshiped the ground he walked on until she had gone to University and then gotten her job with the government of Belarus. "But if she is really thankful that you got her out of that gang, then she will just deal with it."

"I hope so." Ivan sighed. "Fredka will come to visit this summer then he wants me to go with him to his brother's wedding in Canada."

"Now isn't that just so sweet." Katyusha smiled back at him. "He seems to have taken a real liking to you."

"And I him." Ivan admit.

"I know it would make the distance between us greater than it is now, but if you do get that transfer to America, I know you'll have him with you and he will make you very happy."

"I won't get to see you as much though big sis." Ivan sighed.

"Well you know how your love would be seen here." Katyusha replied. She did have a point. While it was not as bad as in other parts of the world, Russia was not very welcoming to a relationship like this. "Besides, if things go well with Dimitri and I, then I will be busy on his farm." Ivan looked at her sternly. "He will not make me do all the work. Besides, he has equipment to make it easier. It's a large grain farm after all. You think he would take care of all that by hand? Or even with hand tools? Goodness no! It's the 21st century!"

"There's still remnants of the old Soviet technology left on Ukrainian farms." Ivan said.

"Well trust me, Dimitri upgraded to the latest technology for tractors he could afford. He used some of that and swore never again if he could help it." Katyusha explained. Ivan remained silent. "You know how much I love farming."

"I know." He replied. At this he heard his phone buzz. "That's Alfred's ring."

"Awwwww you customized the ring." Katyusha said. "I know that you two are going to be together forever."

Ivan jumped up and blushed. Sure he heard it from Alfred himself and part of him believed that, but he was still worried. He had many relationships fail before and they were ones that didn't face such a time difference. It was well known long distance relationships were hard. Maybe that's why I didn't do anything crazy like just stay. I mean if Alfred said he could make it so that his band could make it in Los Angles where it is very expensive there, he would make sure that we were fine. Ivan thought. He looked at his phone and saw it was Alfred.

"Oooooooh is it your little darling?" Katyusha said.

"Katyusha..." Ivan said.

"Fine, fine, I will let you have your peace." She said.

Rolling his eyes, he headed into the bathroom where he knew that she would not follow him and sat down, opening Alfred's message. "Good to hear you made it in. Yeah I guess it would be tiring. I was so worried, that I found it hard to focus at school.'" Ivan read. He laughed to himself. Alfred knew well that the odds of anything happening to him was unlikely but also that Alfred was a very clingy type person. He did not mind this one bit, in fact had loved this about him but he worried more than he should when there was other things he needed to focus on. "Your sister seems nice, tell her hi for me." Ivan then noticed a video message was sent. He clicked on it and saw that Alfred was waving and saying 'I love you' in Russian and bemoaning they could not be together much more often. He gave a quick kiss to the screen and then ended the message. Ivan felt his heart flutter. No other person had been so attentive to him. Ivan smiled back and typed that he was now awake and thanked him for the message. Thinking Alfred might be in class, given the time difference, he sent it and then suddenly the phone rang. It was Alfred. "Fredka!" Ivan said. "I thought you had a class."

"Not today. Professor was sick so he just canceled." Alfred said quietly "Oh I'm in the library right now, getting a head start on an essay I was assigned. Might have Dad go over it before I hand it in. He can catch any grammatical error you can think of."

"Are you sure he would?" Ivan asked, he knew all about how Alfred's father was and remembered the first meeting. He had a decent experience with him when he had met him at dinner before he had to leave back to Russia, but part of him had his doubts about the man.

"If he doesn't want my papa making him sleep on the couch again and get a nice little talking to from my psychotherapist brother. He may be quiet but he can really guilt trip you if he wants to. I mean one time we got into an argument and he made me cry." Alfred said as a tense pause filled the air. "I actually don't think I told anyone that before."

"Oh." Ivan said. "Was this before he went to college for psychology or after?"

"I think it was in high school." Alfred said, "As I do think it was before I went to Los Angeles."

"Oh, so apparently he's a natural at that field." Ivan laughed.

"Guess so." Alfred sighed. "God I miss you."

"As do I sunflower." Ivan sighed.

"Anything interesting happen on your flight?" Alfred asked as he looked at the shelves for one of the books he might need for his assignment.

"Other than being stuck in London and Helsinki longer than I would have liked due to snow, not really. My flight out there was honestly smoother. I wasn't expecting much when I had come, just a routine business trip in another country but what I did find, proved to be better than I could have hoped for." Ivan smiled.

"Awwwww, love ya too big guy. Trust me, if not for you, I probably wouldn't be doing any more than the bare minimum. Hell I might have just thrown it all away and tried again. But honestly, I'm done. I mean I'll play and rock out for my own amusement, maybe write you a little something something but do it professionally again? Nah. Especially how cruddy the manager made me look. So not me." Alfred laughed.

"You never did show me what that looked like." Ivan teased. "All I know is that brown hair does not suit you, at least from the dyed parts I did see."

"It doesn't." Alfred sulked. "And trust me, you don't want to see it. I don't even think I still have the photos of it."

"It would save you the embarrassment of me trying to find it myself. Are you sure it was never on anyone's laptop or phone?" Ivan smirked.

"You really want to find it, don't you?" Alfred moaned.

"I do." Ivan said.

"Okay I'll look. I think I have the first album cover saved to my laptop so I'll send you that when I get home, happy?" Alfred sighed.

"Pleased." Ivan said. And I can see if that Lien girl is of any actual threat to me. A greedy voice in Ivan's head thought. He yawned and Alfred perked up.

"Dude, you okay?" Alfred asked.

"Still sleepy I guess." Ivan sighed. "But hearing your voice, it will be so much easier to dream of you."

"Awwwwwwwwwww." Alfred smiled. "I can't wait to see you again dude. I'm just waiting for my brother to get back to me on his wedding date. Can't miss that."

"You will so so handsome." Ivan said. "You clean up nicely when you want to."

"Dude..." Alfred blushed.

"I am honest with you my love." Ivan smiled.

"Just get some sleep." Alfred ordered. "You got work in a few days anyway don't you?"

"That is correct. And if I want my boss to keep me on the expansion project and closer to you, I need to be on top form." Ivan admit.

"Then sleep. I love you and I'm not going anywhere." Alfred said.

"I think I shall." Ivan sighed. "I miss you, I love you."

"I love you so much dude." Alfred said. "It's been like one day and I wish I could hold you in my arms again."

"We have dreams." Ivan yawned.

"Where you're half way there." Alfred laughed at that. "Sleep tight. I love you Vanya."

"I love you too Fredka." Ivan sighed. "Good night and I will call you in the morning."

"I want to hear about what you dreamt about." Alfred smiled.

"I can tell you already." Ivan said. "You."

"Awwwwwwwwwww." Alfred said. "Well, sleep."

"I will. I love you." Ivan smiled.

"Love ya too big guy." Alfred said as he hung up. Ivan hung up and headed out of the bathroom to find Katyusha standing by the door.

"Katyusha?" Ivan sighed.

"Oh, I was waiting to use the bathroom." She said as Ivan raised his eyebrow skeptically that that was her only reason. "Seriously. I did not hear the entirety of your conversation, just that last bit."

Taking her at her word, Ivan replied. "Fredka told me to tell you hello."

"He got the message?" Katyusha asked as Ivan nodded. "Awwwww."

Changing the topic of conversation from his love life to hers, Ivan looked back at her. "I do want to meet Dimitri though. I have a few days before I have to go back to work and I want to make sure that he will treat you right." Ivan said seriously.

Katyusha rolled her eyes. "You are not as worried about that Lithuanian boy who keeps coming into Minsk when there is no real reason for him to that keeps trying to see Natalya. I think she's using him for free housecleaning, which is a bit of a distance..." She said trying to change the subject.

"I am not worried about him. Natalya can handle herself and I had met him once." Ivan added. "Even with her ability to handle herself, I made sure to meet this man. So given the fact you have had less than fortunate luck with men until now, you can understand why I am concerned."

"Fine, if it will get you to stop worrying about me so much. I guess you can meet him in the next few days." Katyusha sighed. "Now go to bed, I really need to use the bathroom." She paused. "Wait" She paused. "You can meet Dimitri under one condition."

"What?" Ivan moaned.

"I get to meet Alfred. He seems like such a nice boy and he cares about you so much. I want to make sure that my little brother's love is not being given to someone who is not worthy of it." She added, knowing the terms he had used with her on men she had dated before. I swear your overprotective side was enough to scare away some of the men I did like and I intend to see if Alfred will stand up to my scrutiny and if he stands by you despite what I, your big sister who practically raised you and Natalya have to say. May have her here too. If he can stand us, he's worthy of you little brother. Katyusha thought.

"Fine, I guess." Ivan conceded.

"Yeay!" Katyusha hugged him. "He seems oh so nice. "Now out of my way and get to bed."

"Goodnight big sister." Ivan said as he headed back to his bedroom, changed into a pair of pajamas and looked at the pictures of Alfred he had on his phone from the whole trip. Looking over at the large Cherburshka plush he sighed, imaging it was Alfred. Someday, hopefully soon. I will have him by my side forever. He thought as he grabbed the plush tightly holding onto it. You will have to do for now dear Cherburshka his mind wandered as he took another yawn, placing his phone on his nightstand after taking another look at one of Alfred's pictures and smiled. He knew that he needed his rest and he was going to have to meet Katyusha's latest boyfriend to make sure indeed he would treat her right. He didn't quite know what to make of him from the picture she had seen, but he was not going to mistreat her if he could help it. Same thing if he had found out that Alfred's family had fallen back to mistreating him or Lien would not leave him alone. He knew what he wanted and so did Alfred. This was their dream that they had to wait to make reality and he was not about to let it go to waste.

So how was that? Good? Bad? Short? Long? Let me know in a review. Yeah I know I didn't update this one as fast as some of my other fics, but I will. Just got to build things up a little more. I don't know how things will go but I will come back to this. Honestly there isn't much else to say here so remember to read (well you just did) and to review. Ciao for now,
