The Chains That Guide a Hero

Chapter 8

And now it's time for the morning after Izuku's little foray into the adult world he's been thrust into. And while it is true that the others of 1-A are in a similar position, it's a bit different when you are a teacher or full professional like he now is. Aside from that, I'll be getting into a new challenge. So to speak. Now then, on with the show.

(No POV)

Midnight woke up first from her dazed stupor to realize where she was sleeping. "Oh. Well I'm not complaining. I had hoped for this somewhat. But I wonder what he'll think when he wakes up~." Nemuri says with a smile. Then gently poking Izuku's sleeping face.

He groans a bit before turning over in his bed. Nemuri is tempted to tease him a bit more but lets him be. Washing her underwear before showering. Only to be surprised by Izuku walking into the changing room once she was done.

"Wait….. Midnight? Or Kayama? No wait I think…. That actually happened?!" Izuku stammered while blushing brightly. Nemuri chuckled before grabbing his shoulder. "Just calm down for now Izuku. We can discuss more later. If you'd like, I can join you in the bath~."

Izuku's blush gets a bit brighter but he manages to regain some of his composure and gently rejected the alluring woman. But he does squeak a bit when she passes him and smacks his butt.

Once her underwear were dry, she asked Izuku if she could borrow some clothes for a bit. "My dress isn't what I'd call the best for talking or cooking after all." Izuku clears his throat and mentions that he had a Neuron t-shirt in the closet. "And there's some sweats I think in the dresser."

Nemuri thanks Izuku and gets the articles in question. And Izuku finishes quickly in the bath. Or rather he calms himself down in the bath. Once done, he spies the older hero starting coffee in the kitchen. So he puts his pants on and offers her a bit of breakfast before she goes.

"It's not much, but I do know how to make a few breakfast things," he says with a slight sheepish look. And while she is tempted to tease him again, Nemuri keeps it simple and thanks her younger colleague. Helping him with chopping up some vegetables to go with the eggs and bacon he made.

After eating, Izuku uneasily broached the topic of what happened next. "Well… nothing if you aren't sure about things. But~. I'm hoping you'd be more inclined to do this some other time~." Nemuri says before noting that they could have no strings attached if he wasn't sure.

Izuku gulped as Nemuri leaned over to him and he could see her breasts under the shirt she borrowed. "I ah… I'm not really sure. I've….. I wasn't ever that interested in anyone when I was younger. Partially because of what happened to me."

He notes that his time on the Ark and before coming there had affected him in a few different ways. "The whole quirkless diagnosis and how people treated me after was the start. And then everything that went down while training to be an agent? I don't know where to begin," he explains sheepishly.

"I understand. And frankly I don't blame you at all. But that is why I mentioned no strings. You can figure out more about yourself as we go. Maybe you'll meet someone who'll be right for you. But in the meantime."

Nemuri asks for his phone and puts another number in it. He already had her and the rest of the faculty, so this new number confused him. At least until he saw the name she put on it. Nemuri Night Time. She gave him a coy smile and said if he was ever interested, give that number a call.

Izuku cleared his throat before mentioning that they had classes to worry about. He walked her out before questioning if she was going to go home to change. "No need. I'll just change into a spare hero costume. I'll bring the clothes back later." Before she left though, she caught Izuku with another kiss.

Backing him the wall and tempting him to forgo classes to enjoy a bit more of Midnight in the daytime. But he shook his head and resisted with a gentle push. He sighed before gulping again and changing for the day.

He put what happened out of his mind to focus on the matter before him. Enforced when he saw Midnight in the office later and she was acting calm and not making a big deal out of what they did. So, he refocused on a special quiz for a little later and requisitioning the training equipment from Neuron for the practical side of the quiz.

Since his classes were in the afternoon, Izuku focused on the other side of his job. That being and agent/officer with the police. Humming while looking over details pertaining to a few of the Yakuza and a few other possible villain or criminal organizations.

"Midoriya! Pay attention to the clock man!" Mic said when lunch was starting. Izuku shook his head before realizing that he almost missed lunch entirely. "Sorry. Thanks man. Got caught up in checking some details on criminals in the area."

He made his way to Student Union to get a quick bite to eat. Chuckling at some of the students discussing their next set of classes. While Izuku was thinking about how to instruct his next class.

'Okay. I'll just discuss a few of the different Chimera types with the class. Open to questions after I've described them. I can do this.' Izuku thought to himself. He stepped into the classroom and looked over all of the students that were attending.

He walked over to the podium and set some of his materials down. "Yosh. Hello everyone. Today, we'll be going over something many of you might not have expected. Types of Chimeras." Izuku started before bringing his Legatus down to hook into the computer.

From both, he projects a few images of the Chimeras that could be a threat to the world. Starting with the most common type, the human forms. First showing the sword and shield Chimera that often attacks in the field and in the Astral Plane.

"Now these are common but they also can grow into larger forms as well. Namely, Laius." Izuku explains before showing the image of the named Chimera. He then notes that it does have something of a pattern to it's attacks but the biggest threat came from the charge attacks.

He then shows how some of them attack from his own experiences. Making a few of the students nervous when the saw one Laius crash through a building and caused it to cave in on itself.

Izuku smirks a bit before noting that, "yes you should avoid that at all costs. We Agents of Neuron though do have a way to fight them. The chain that links us to our Legion is semisolid and can be used to toss a charging Chimera back." Which is illustrated again on the screen.

He then notes that he wasn't certain if it was possible on this side. "But it is worth mentioning. Perhaps one of you with a restraining or similar type of quirk could take advantage of the charge this way." This gets a few who were attending his lecture thinking more about their usefulness when dealing with Chimeras.

He then brings up the Speed type humanoid Chimera next. "These ones will aim for blind spots or attack from multiple angles. Often working in groups. Luckily these type do not have a named version so we can move on."

"Um sir? What do you mean by named version?" a nervous silver haired young man named Shoda Nirengeki asked. Izuku smiled and thanked the young man for the question. "Named Chimera are special variations of chimera. Often exhibiting greater strength, elemental power, or other aspect that makes them terrifying to face."

He then shows a few more images of the named Chimera but stops to refocus the lesson. "Today we'll mostly be going over the Humanoid types of Chimera and not the named ones. We'll save those for later," he said before clearing his throat.

Then asking that the rest of the questions wait until after the lecture. Showing an ice wielding humanoid Chimera and it's attacks. From ice beams and frozen claws, to making a shield when it was low on health.

And then noting it's possible evolved or Named form being Eris. Though instead of ice, this one had satellites that shot energy beams at it's enemies. The ice though made a different member of the class uncomfortable. That being Endeavor's son, Todoroki Shoto. The feminine form of the ice users gave him a moment where he was reminded of his mother.

Izuku opens the floor for questions, but there aren't that many for him to worry about. Momo had stayed a diligent student and stuck to questions pertaining to the lecture. As had, a few of the other high ranked students. Katsuki among them.

There were a few though that were getting distracted or missing the point of the lectures. Namely those who were wanting to know more about gossip, like a fellow greenette named Tokage Setsuna. Asking questions about him and Burnin. Or others who had questions about the Ark.

"Alright that's enough! I'm not here to teach you about the Ark or just being a hero your age! I am here to instruct you on how to deal with the threats of the Astral Plane. Because it is coming, and it will try to destroy the world. If you can't get focused on the matter at hand, I suggest you leave. Now."

The focused glare coming from Izuku made a few of the students unsettled or scared. Though in the case of Momo, she found herself shivering from it. Katsuki was one who agreed with the agent and lambasted the rest of the class with Ida.

"He's seen the Hell these things can unleash and had to save people more than once. So we'd better respect that knowledge, or we'll end up dead," the blonde said. Ida agreed and noted, "we are here to learn to be the next heroes of our nation. And some of that will require us to know about these monsters. So give Midoriya-sensei your respect and regards. Or you don't belong in the hero course."

That statement resonates with quite a few of the students and they look down sheepishly. And when the class lets out, a few even come up and apologize to Izuku for getting sidetracked.

"It's just…. Well you're the same age as us and yet you're a full hero and everything. I guess we thought that….. we could talk to you the same way." Setsuna said while tapping her fingers together. Izuku sighed and admitted that while it may be true, "the fact is, I am your teacher. That means I can't really…. Connect or do the same things with all of you. Not without it being VERY inappropriate. No matter…. How much I may want to."

He said this last bit while looking at Momo and Katsuki. He wanted to joke with them, talk and gossip a bit. But he couldn't because of the difference in status and duty. While Momo may be an adult, the fact he was her teacher could be seen as him taking advantage due to the difference in status.

And with Katsuki, he needed to show that he was the one to guide heroes in training like him. He wasn't the little kid who used to follow him around while playing hero anymore. Now, he was the one leading and instructing his old friend.

Setsuna saw the conflicting emotions in Izuku's eyes and apologized again. "I guess I didn't think about all of that. There haven't been many heroes as young as you for a long-time sir. Not since Hawks." Izuku nodded and thanked her for the apology.

"Do you have a different question related to what we covered?" he asked to use as a segue to dismiss the girl. With Momo and Katsuki being the last ones to leave the lecture hall. "So, it's kind of like that, huh?" Katsuki said with a sad smirk towards his old friend.

Izuku sighed and agreed. "I can't…. do anything that might be seen as inappropriate. I'm not just a new teacher, I'm supposed to be the representative of my organization. I'm a Neuron agent and police officer for crying out loud!" His old friend nodded and agreed on all of his points.

"You even further ahead than I realized or ever thought possible. But if anything, that's a reason to look up to you now. Do what you gotta do, Deku." Katsuki said before putting up his fist to bump. And, while he was wide eyed, Izuku returned it with a light misting of his eyes.

Momo then blushed as Katsuki left and looked at the boy who saved her long ago. 'No. That isn't right. He's definitely not a boy anymore. He's a man and he's trying to be a responsible one,' she thought before talking to Izuku a bit.

First about some other details pertaining to the Chimeras. But then she broached the main topic. "I….. really can't see you right now, can I? At least not as anything more than a teacher or maybe a superior when it comes to hero work."

The agent looked down with a bit of sadness but agreed. "At least for the time being. It may take a few years, but I've heard that the hero track is a bit faster than the average student track," he said to try and build up some levity.

It doesn't work though and Momo can only nod and thank Izuku for answering her questions. Though as she goes, he can see a little mistiness building in her eyes. He sighs before getting ready for his next class.

"As much as we want things to be simple, they never are," he hears from the doorway. And he sees Aizawa and Kan looking in on him. The former congratulates Izuku on staying firm with his duty and being rational in the moment. The latter pats him on the shoulder and offers to help with some lessons to take a bit of stress off.

Kan then says, "it's hard for us heroes to find someone we could love as is. And toss on your duty as agent and the stress is higher. But you have some friends with us. Even if we are all a bit older." Izuku thanks the man as the sophomore classes arrive.

He gives similar lectures to each of the classes before calling it a day. Or he would if he hadn't been called by a different agency to help with a matter. "It's kind of an honor to be called by you Sir Nighteye. But I'm a little curious as to why?":

"A fair question my good man. I'd like your help with a matter I'm investigating. Mainly your investigation skills. I need more information on a group called the Shie Hissaki," the green haired hero explains. He noted that he had many details pertaining to the group, but he wasn't ready to move in on them.

Especially since they had two new dangerous bosses leading the group. "The former is a young man named Chisaki Kai. He's been in charge of the group for a while now. But the other is…. A strange case."

Nighteye brings up an image of a young girl with white hair and a horn. She had a disinterested, yet angry look in her eyes. She looked to be about 12 or 13 and she had an entourage of thugs behind her. Izuku was confused by the girl and asked who she was.

"This is Danna Eri. She's the granddaughter of the previous head of the group. At first, I thought she might be a captive or something for Chisaki. But in recent years, I'm lead to believe that isn't the case."

He noted that the girl had been going to school for quite a few years and after the destruction of some rival gangs, it wasn't Chisaki who was leading them. Instead Eri had been the one who lead the group out at the end of it all. With one Rappa Kendo as her main muscle and Tengai Hekiji being the defense.

"I'm not sure on all of the details, but one of the survivors from her crushing of rivals said that she reversed many of them out of existence or to before they had their quirks. All before being beat senseless or to death by Rappa."

Izuku hummed while looking at the image of the girl with some sadness. But he shakes his head and focuses on the task at hand. "You want me to look into the group more and see what their possible goals or plans could be. Right?"

"Indeed young Midoriya. Thank you in advance for what you do find and if you can get us enough to take them down." Nighteye says with a nod. Izuku returns it and copies the data to his Legatus to research later. Plus it could be kept safer thanks to the mobile closed database that is the terminal.

On the way back, Izuku question what could have led such a young girl to becoming a dangerous member this organization. 'And what would be the best way to stop her and this Chisaki character?' he thought as he rode his motorcycle back to UA.

Did not see that coming did you?! I thought of this after talking with a few others here on the site, but Eri could have become a dangerous member of the Yakuza if Overhaul had been a bit more patient. Her power, made into bullets or not, could be dangerous to quite a few in the quirked world. Heroes and villains.

Add on the possibility of Overhaul using her, not as a renewable resource but guiding/nurturing her to want to destroy the quirked world herself. Well it's another Tomura AFO situation. But different in that, the two involved are equally dangerous. Overhaul may be able to reshape things, but Eri could just as easily rewind him out of existence.

And that is what Izuku, the heroes, and hero students will have to deal with. Please review!
