The opening begins with five familiar silhouettes walking towards the bright light of the end of a stone hallway, the camera slowly zooming away from them until everything goes white.

We then see an extreme close-up shot of Natsu, whose eyes are closed. When he opens them, we zoom out, revealing him standing with his team, Gray, Erza, and two new members, Laxus and Gajeel. As the wind blows, a wave of dust overtakes the screen changing to a shot of the painting depicting the Dragon King Festival as the Fairy Tail logo appears before a wave of flames overtakes the screen.

Now, we see Natsu and Gajeel walking towards the center of the arena side-by-side and then see Sting and Rogue, who are waiting for them, Rogue remaining stoic and smiling confidently. Next, from a bird's eye point of view, we see Lucy sitting in her bed in the infirmary on the right side of the screen. Then, a transparent medium close-up of her fades in from the left, and she turns to the side while glancing up. We then switch to the mysterious cloaked figure from the back, walking through Crocus during the night as the camera rapidly pulls away and tilts up towards a moon and star-filled sky.

We see extreme close-ups of Lahar, Doranbolt, and Jellal in his Mystogan disguise. However, as we rapidly pan out, it's revealed they are images from Ultear's crystal ball as she lets it hover from her hand while she and Meldy stare into it. The crystal floats upward as we follow it before disappearing into the blue sky with a flash. Next, we see a panning medium close-up of the man in armor appearing to be menacing while a short old man looks at him with worry. After that, a close-up of Kagura from Mermaid Heel looks behind her, and as we rapidly pull out, we see that she's standing next to Millianna, both their bodies hidden in the shadows under the light of the moon. Then, we change back to the arena where Wendy and Sherria dash toward each other while leaping, as Sherria shoots past from the left and Wendy from the right.

Now, we see moving shots of the various Sabertooth members before they move to the left or right sides of the screen. First is Rufus, who tips his hat, Orga while wearing his belt, his body crackling with his magic, Jiemma, and finally Minerva, who holds up her hand while employing her magic, the light overtaking the screen. Next, we switch to a shot outside while we pan upward, Makarov and Mavis standing side by side while Ivan and the rest of Raven Stand on a rocky plateau. Next, we switch to a shot of Laxus, who stands with his back turned as his body explodes with his lightning magic while he turns around, and we zoom in rapidly to his right eye. After that, a blade is pointed straight into the air, and while we pan down, it's revealed to be held by Erza, who stands proudly after beating the Pandemonium event, her clothes in tatters. Finally, we see a wide panning upwards shot of all the Fairy Tail members who aren't participating in the games, cheering wildly.

Natsu and Gajeel are seen charging toward Sting and Rogue, who also dash toward them. Natsu and Sting exchange a few blows, Natsu using his fire magic while Sting uses his light magic. Rogue tries to intervene using his shadow magic, but Gajeel cuts him off with his iron magic as the brawl continues. Afterward, we switch back to the crowd, where all the Fairy Tail members hold their hands, performing the Fairy Tail sign and encouraging their two dragon slayers.

Natsu and Gajeel are seen getting up from the ground of the arena, battered but still able to fight. Gajeel wipes his nose while smirking, and Natsu also smiles. Lector and Frosche are seen cheering from Sabertooth's side, their eyes filled with tears. Back on the Fairy Tail's side, the exceed squad is also cheering, Happy having tears in his eyes, Carla looking worried, and Pantherlily remaining neutral with his arms crossed. Then, in an extreme close-up of Natsu's left eye, he opens it while his body radiates fire, and in another one with Sting, he also opens his eye, his body shining with white light, and a white pattern appears across it. We then see Sting and Rogue, now empowered with their Dragon Forces, then Natsu and Gajeel, their bodies radiating with magic. Next, we get a quick shot of the Fairy Tail flag set up on a statue. Then screenshots of the four dragon slayers charging, first from Sting and Rogue's perspective and then Natsu and Gajeel's. Finally, we see a shot of Dormus Flau from a faraway shot as a pillar of brief briefly shines, and we pull back, showing the mysterious hooded figure standing in a rocky landscape gazing towards the arena as the opening ends.
Chapter 208
Ravens Fall and Fairies Rise
"All right! Cana did it!" cheered Lisanna as she jumped in excitement. "She got second place!"
"You bet she did," I said while smiling. "All that training has finally paid off for her. Although, I didn't expect her to destroy the MPF with that spell."
"I don't think anyone expected it," chuckled Tu Chi. "Even I wasn't expecting to see such a spectacle. However, that was a once-in-a-lifetime event, and I am grateful to have witnessed such a beautiful and powerful display of magic."
"You and me both," agreed Sieri. "However, I can't help but wonder if she got hammered on purpose just to surprise everyone or just because?"
"It's a pretty safe bet that it's the former rather than the latter," said Lisanna with a wry smile. "But, that's our Cana."
"After those exhilarating events, we're at the halfway point of day three of the games!" Chapati spoke out. "I don't know about you, but I'm curious about where our teams stand on the scoreboard, so let's take a look!"
The lacrimatron then showed the scoreboard displaying the current standings.
Raven Tail: 36
Lamia Scale: 26
Sabertooth: 24
Mermaid Heel: 22
Fairy Tail A: 22
Fairy Tail B: 20
Blue Pegasus: 18
Quatro Cerebus: 14
"In first place is Raven Tail! Holding onto second, it's Lamia Scale! Dropping down to third is Saberooth! Tied for fourth place are the ladies of Mermaid Heel and the group that jumped up two spots, Fairy Tail Team A! In sixth place is Fairy Tail Team B! And in the other two spots, we have the other teams!"
"All right! Both of our teams jumped up!" I heard Levy cheer.
"Aye, sir!" concurred Happy.
"That's right, you guys, keep it up," I thought while smirking. "Climb up those rankings until we hit the number one spot."
Then, a few guild members turned to leave the box, those being Lisanna, The Thunder Legion, and Bisca.
"Hey, where are they going?" I wondered. "The versus matches are about to start."
"They're going to be scouting, Willy," said Makarov. "There's an upcoming matchup that will most definitely require our supervision."
"Wait, does that mean you know who will fight next, Master Makarov?" I puzzled. "Then, who-."
But at that moment, I quickly realized that there was only one guild in particular that would make Makarov worry so much.
"Don't tell me. One of our teams is fighting Raven Tail."
Makarov answered with a nod.
"So, who's fighting who?" I questioned.
"It's Laxus against Alexei," the old man replied. "Lisanna and the Thunder Legion will keep an eye on the Raven Tail team while Bisca scouts out Ivan." He gave a gritty scowl. "They may have gotten us good on day one, but we will not allow any more of their trickery."
"Well, in that case, I'm going to go over to Team Fairy Tail B's box," I said to him. "If you don't mind, that is."
"You're free to do as you like, Willy," said Makarov. "But remember, your match is coming up, so make sure you're prepared. And make sure you stay on guard too."
"Don't worry. I will," I said to him with a slight wave.
From there, I walked through the many corridors. I'd be lying if I said I didn't have my reasons for wanting to go to Fairy Tail B. But it was mostly because I couldn't stand around while everyone else was doing their part to protect each other. And I may have also wanted to see Mira after a while to see how she was doing while making sure her team saw fair play in the match.
After a while, I soon reached the balcony box where Mira, Laxus, Gajeel, Juvia, and Cana were standing. Mira was the first to notice me as I approached them.
"Oh, hey, Willy," she greeted. "What brings you here?"
"Just figured I'd come and watch the matches with you guys before mine starts," I said. "I have plenty of time to kill, and everyone over at our box is still cheering after Erza and Cana dominated the events."
"Hell yeah, I did," grinned Cana. "Bet nobody expected me to bust out Fairy Glitter. Although, I kinda wish I still had it."
"Hey, Water Boy. You sure coming here to watch was your only reason?" asked Gajeel. "Or did you come here for somethin' else?"
"Well, I'd be lying if I said I wasn't here for specific reasons," I said. "But it's not what you're thinking, Gajeel. I'm only here to watch the matches with you guys. Nothing more. Nothing less."
"Well, you sure could have fooled us," smirked Cana teasingly. "For all we know, you wanted to hang out with us because you missed Mira."
I pretended not to hear her, but as Mira looked across at me, flashing a smile, I quickly glanced away, pretending not to see as I focused my attention on the arena as the first match got underway.
"All right, folks! Let's shake up that scoreboard with some one-on-one battles!" Chapati said. "And for our first match, we have the kitty with claws, Mermaid Heel's Millianna, against Quatro Puppy's towering giant, Semus!"
The two in question then stepped into the middle of the arena. I recognized Millianna back from the previous events but now didn't wear her cloak revealing her attire of strange lingerie. Semus, on the other hand, was a giant, just like Chapati said, dressed in red shorts with a black-sleeved shirt with a hood that had a large yellow X and strange protrusions on the sides of his head.
The match soon started, and Semus was quick to make the first move by spinning rapidly like a top while charging at her. Millianna, using her agility and speed, managed to avoid his first few attempts to hit her and then attacked with a spell, firing the same tube-like tendril from before. However, due to rapidly spinning, Semus deflected the attack with ease as he barreled straight into her sending her flying into the air.
As she landed back on the ground, Millianna unleashed an even more potent tendril blast trying to knock her opponent off balance. But not only was the attack deflected, but it also made Semus spin even faster and strike her with even more power as he bashed into her, sending her into the air again and inflicting more damage. Then, seeing victory in sight as Millianna fell to the ground, Semus spin-charged, ready to deliver the finishing blow.
But then, Millianna got back on her feet, refusing to give up. While Semus charged at her, she fired another tube attack, but this time, when it made contact with Semus, it stuck to him, wrapping around his body as he spun. Semus tried his best to shake it off, but the cat girl didn't let go while she was dragged around the arena until Semus shifted his momentum, causing him to crash straight into Millianna, creating an explosion of dust. When the clouds cleared, Semus was down and out, bound by Millianna's tube, while she sat on top of him, victorious.
"Semus is unable to continue!" said Chapati. "Therefore, Millianna wins, earning ten points for Mermaid Heel!"
The crowd cheered while Millianna waved to her fans, looking pleased with herself as she walked out of the arena.
"Pretty smart move by that Millianna girl," I commented. "She used her opponent's rotation against him and got him tangled with that tube of hers."
"Yeah, but it ain't nothing to write home about," said Gajeel. "I'm pretty sure I could take out that guy with a single punch."
"Okay, now it's time to move on to our second match!" spoke Chapati. "It's Sabertooth's minstrel that sings to the red moon, Rufus Loore, going head-to-head with Blue Pegasus' "Holy Night," Eve Tilm!"
As the two wizards entered the arena, I recognized them as participants in day one's Hidden of the games. Rufus was the guy with the strange hat and mask that dominated using his strange memory magic, while Eve was one of the unfortunate souls that got beaten by him. Rufus wore that same confident smirk as he squared off against Eve, who had a vengeful and determined scowl.
"As I'm sure you all remember back in the Hidden event, Rufus thoroughly walloped the competition, including Eve!" Chapati continued speaking. "But will this be Eve's chance for redemption?"
The gong sounded in response, and Eve was quick to make his move unleashing a powerful blast of snow magic, only the attack to faze straight through Rufus, who reappeared a distance away from him. Eve started running towards Rufus, intending to attack again, but at that moment, Rufus suddenly changed into Ichiya, who was buck nude in a tub filled with bubbles. Eve skidded to a halt in shock, only to realize too late to be another ploy by Rufus, who saw the opening and gave the boy a swift chop to the back of his neck, knocking him flat on his face to the ground.
Then, just like in Hidden, Rufus placed two fingers on his head while a red magic circle appeared behind him as everything grew dark, with only him shining like a beacon.
"MEMORY-MAKE: NIGHT OF SHOOTING STARS."
Several streams of gold light erupted from his body before striking Eve simultaneously. It seemed that Eve had taken severe damage, but as he took the brunt of the attack, his entire body exploded into white snow as he reappeared behind Refus.
"So, he knows a cloning spell using his element, eh?" I hummed with interest. "Not too shabby."
"Not only that, but he was quick to counter after seeing the spell only once," said Mira. "But then again, Rufus' magic is something else, too."
Eve made a magic circle appear in his hand, summoning a blizzard that swept through the area. Then, he quickly whipped his head around behind him and, swinging his arm claw-like, used his other hand to attack.
"NOW GO, WHITE FANG!"
A blast of snow shot forth, whirling in a circular motion before exploding at a spot further away from him. Emerging from the icy cloud, Rufus jumped out, having to have avoided the incoming attack, but remained confident and unfazed. He placed two fingers on his forehead again, using his magic, but this time, the entire arena turned red and grew hotter. At the same time, pillars of molten rock began popping up from the ground, soon having Eve surrounded. Rufus then raised a hand before slamming it into the ground as he unleashed another spell.
"MEMORY-MAKE: KARMA OF THE SCORCHING EARTH!"
A massive explosion from the earth ripped it apart, growing larger and more potent as it surged toward its target. The overwhelming flames sent Eve flying high into the air before falling to the ground with a sickening and thunderous thud. His clothes were wholly burnt, and his white skin all over his body was scorched and black with ash as he lay there wincing in pain.
"And that's the end of this "Holy Night" folks!" Chapati said. "Taking another win for Sabertooth is Rufus!"
Rufus tipped his hat while bowing, enticing a loud cheer from the crowd. Despite not liking the guy, even I had to agree that his Memory-Make Magic was something else.
Rufus and Eve soon left the field, and Chapati announced the third match.
"All right, folks! To keep the ball rolling, it's time for our third matchup! From Fairy Tail B, it's Laxus Dreyar versus Raven Tail's Alexei!"
"So, it's finally my turn to fight," the blonde spoke, his body briefly crackling with electricity. "And against my old man's guild no less."
"Good luck, Laxus! You can do it!" encouraged Mira.
Laxus answered with a nod as he headed for the arena.
As soon as he was gone, Mira turned toward me. "Say, Willy. Be honest with me," she said. "Was this the reason why you came here?"
I answered with a nod. "Master Makarov told me about the matchup and has taken countermeasures in case Raven Tail tries anything again," I told her. "But when I was told about it, I decided to come here and see fair play."
Mira hummed a bit before smiling. "Well, that's very kind of you," she said.
"Well, I owed Laxus after he helped me back on Tenrou Island," I said while playing with my bang. "He did save my life, so this is the least I can do for him."
"That sounds like something you'd do," said Mira. She then gave me a pouty face. "But truth be told, I was hoping that what Cana said was right, and you did miss me. Or do you not care about me at all?"
"W-Well, I, uh, I'd be lying if I said I didn't miss you," I quickly spoke. "But - I mean, it's not like I'm-!"
Mira then snickered before giggling a little. "Calm down. I'm messing with you," she said. "You don't need to be so flustered. No matter how cute you act."
I then scowled in frustration. "I really wish you'd stop doing that!" I sulked.
"Hey, would you two please stop flirting?" huffed Juvia. "This isn't the time for such frivolous things."
"We are not flirting!" I quickly replied.
"Anyway, there ain't no doubt that Laxus'll win this one," said Gajeel.
"He is Laxus, after all," agreed Cana. "He's got this in the bag."
"Yes, but still, I've got a bad feeling about this," Juvia spoke worriedly.
"Juvia's right to be worried," I said as I turned my attention back to the arena. "Laxus may be one of the strongest wizards in the guild, but when it comes to Raven Tail, we can't afford to lower our guard, especially with how they targeted us on day one. Although, I can't help but wonder about their reasoning for doing this. What exactly are they after?"
"Who can say," said Mira. "But for now, all we can do is watch and see what happens."
The two combatants now stood in the center of the arena. Laxus wore a neutral yet glaring scowl while his arms were crossed, and Alexei stood silently, appearing unfazed.
"Last time these two guilds clashed was back on day one, and things didn't go well for Fairy Tail. That is unless you count Willy defeating Fuzen," said Chapati. "But will this be their chance to get revenge, or will Raven Tail achieve another victory?! Let the third battle begin!"
The gong sounded for a third time, and right when it did, Alexei suddenly shot forward with lightning speed, and before Laxus could react, the masked man in armor clocked him square in the face with an elbow that was strong enough to send him flying backward. Laxus managed to flip while landing in a crouch, but Alexei pounced while delivering a swift kick to his jaw, knocking him off his feet again. Then, he followed it up with a powerful blast of dark magic, blasting him right in his middle as he flew, enticing a scream of pain.
"Are you freaking kiddin' me?!" exclaimed Gajeel.
"Laxus is losing?!" gasped Cana.
"This can't be possible!" Juvia also gasped. "How could his opponent have gotten the upper hand so quickly?!"
I couldn't help but also be shocked by what I saw, but I continued observing as Alexei continued his assault.
"What's going on here? Laxus shouldn't be getting dominated like this. There's got to be something going on here. I may have only known him for a short time, but even I know well enough that this isn't how he fights. He would have at least reacted with a lightning attack or have used it to get away from him, and I doubt he's the kind of guy to hold back."
I looked across at Mira, and she did at me. She nodded silently, telling me that she felt the same thing.
"Willy."
"Say no more. I'm on it."
I closed my eyes and used my Aqua Sense, focusing on the arena. I could see both of their magic signatures in my mind, but at the same time, I sensed a couple of other things. Firstly, despite both fighters fighting, their magic signatures were stable, like neither was using their magic. In addition, there was a strange haze surrounding them like a fog.
"What in the world...?" I mumbled as I opened my eyes.
"What's up, Willy?" asked Mira. "What did you sense?"
"That's just it. I don't know what I'm sensing," I told her. "I can pick up both Laxus and Alexei's magic powers just fine, but for some reason, it feels like they're not using their magic at all. Despite their fighting, they're way too stable. Not only that but there's a strange fog in their area."
"A fog?" repeated Cana. "But I don't see anything."
"I can't really explain it any more than I can," I said with a frown. "But either way, something's going on. I can feel it in my gut."
"What? Did he run out of juice or something?" gruffed Gajeel. "And don't tell me that he's got some a cold or-"
Suddenly, the iron dragon slayer let out a sneeze, causing everyone to look in his direction.
"Hey! Say it, don't spray, Iron Boy!" complained Cana.
"Aw, crap. Don't tell I'm coming down with a cold," sniffed Gajeel. "Or maybe someone's trash-talking about me behind my back."
I looked back towards the fight in time to see Alexei grabbing Laxus by the neck, toying with him. But then, suddenly, there was a mighty clap of thunder, making me jump a bit as something shot straight through the two of them and slammed straight into the wall. That something was Alexei, who no longer had his mask, and Laxus stood in the middle of the arena, his body radiating with his lightning. Not only that, but the other Raven Tail members were also down there, all battered and unconscious.
"Holy moly! What in the world happened down there?!" exclaimed Chapati.
I then used my Aqua Sense again. This time, I could sense Laxus' and everyone else's magic power perfectly, the blonde's flaring like a beacon, and the fog had disappeared entirely.
"Now, I get it!" I spoke as I opened my eyes. "The entire fight was an illusion! That's why I couldn't sense much!"
Mato then rushed over to the unmasked Alexei and gasped when he saw him. "I know that face!" he cried. "That's their guild master! Holy smoke! Alexei was Master Ivan the whole time!"
The crowd was now abuzz with confusion and shock, as Chapati explained.
"It would appear that the battle we were watching was an illusion! But Laxus persevered and defeated the entire Raven Tail guild by himself!"
"And not only did all five of their members illegally participate in the match," Yajima spoke sternly. "But also have their guild master partake in the games. A clear violation of the rules!"
"Therefore, by default, the winner of this match is Laxus Dreyar of Fairy Tail Team B!" said Mato. "Let's give him a hand, folks!"
The crowd then cheered. Mira then started jumping and cheering joyfully while hugging me, much to my slight embarrassment.
"As far as Raven Tail goes, after some deliberation, they are disqualified and are banned from the games for the next three years!" added Chapati.
"As they should be," huffed Yajima. "Good riddance!"
Laxus then took his leave from the arena. As he left, several soldiers from the magic council marched to the field and swiftly arrested all of Raven Tail, taking them away. I'd be lying if I didn't think that these jerks had what was coming, but at the same time, I had to give Ivan some credit for his illusion which was enough to fool my Aqua Sense for a brief moment. But thankfully, I could rest a bit easier now that they were out of the picture.
Mato's face then reappeared on the screen. "Sorry about that, folks!" he apologized. "What do you say we forget about this mess and move on to match four? It's the final match of the games, and it's sure to be a good one!"
"It sure will be, Mato!" Chapati spoke, his voice excited, but also had a strange sense of cutesy. "It's going to be Wendy Marvell from Team Fairy Tail A versus Sherria Blendy from Lamia Scale!"
"So, it's the squirt's turn to fight, eh?" Gajeel smirked. "This should be interesting."
"And since Wendy's fully recovered, she'll finally get her time to shine," smiled Mira. "I can't wait to see how she'll do!"
The two little girls trotted their way to the arena, but as they did, Sherria suddenly tripped, falling flat on her face on the ground. Not long after that, as she tried to go over and help her, Wendy also tripped and fell on her face. Believing this to be adorable and funny, the crowd began to laugh.
"Good grief. The match hasn't even started, and they're already flat on the ground," chuckled Cana.
"Don't worry. Wendy may look uncoordinated, but she's got this," I said with a smile. "After all, she's been waiting for this chance, and there's no way she'll squander it."
Wendy and Sherria both got back up and took their stances to fight, and with the sound of the gong, their fight began.
Wendy held her hands at her sides, summoning a pair of magic circles, those circles being her support spells that enhanced her speed and power. Then, she followed up with an attack.
"SKY DRAGON: WING ATTACK!"
She swung her arms while unleashing powerful currents of wind, but Sherria swiftly dodged, rolling and flipping before jumping into the air while generating a spiral of black wind in her hand.
"O, NORTHERN WIND! BECOME THE BREATH OF A GOD AND RACE ACROSS THE LAND! BOREAS!"
She then launched a powerful black whirlwind at Wendy, forcing her to block the attack using her wind magic. As Sherria landed back on the ground, she shot forwards Wendy while using another spell.
"WIND, O, WIND! TEAR THROUGH THE LAND AND ROUSE THE SKY! SPIRAL DANCE!"
She created two streams of wind from her sides and, when she was close enough to Wendy, launched them at her in a spiral sending her flying into the air. Sherria jumped up after her intending to inflict more damage, but Wendy was quick to right herself and countered with a downward kick infused with her magic.
"SKY DRAGON: TALON!"
Her attack struck its mark, sending Sherria to the ground. As the two fell back to the ground, Wendy puffed up her cheeks and prepared to use her breath attack, but as she did, Sherria did so as well.
"SKY DRAGON...!"
"SKY GOD...!"
Upon seeing this, I couldn't help but be surprised.
"Wait a minute!" Gajeel gasped. "Is that what I think it is?!"
"It is! It's a breath attack!" I also gasped. "Sherria's magic is the same as Wendy's! That means that she's a slayer too!"
"ROAR!"
"HOWL!"
Both of the girls released powerful tornado-like streams from their mouths. Both attacks collided, creating a powerful explosion of wind that blew throughout the stadium. As the wind died down, Wendy, knocked off balance, was on the ground staring at Sherria in surprise while she seemed completely unfazed.
"So, wait a minute. This Sherria girl is like you and Gajeel?" Juvia asked Gajeel and me. "I've always thought that there was only dragon slayer magic."
"Apparently not," I said. "And considering that Sherria just shouted sky god, it seems she's a sky god slayer."
"How can that even be possible?" wondered Gajeel. "You expect me to believe that a god trained this girl to use magic?"
"Well, to be fair, hearing how you two got raised by dragons sounds just as crazy," pointed out Cana.
"Either way, it seems as though this fight's going to be tougher than Wendy expected," said Mira. "She's practically fighting against herself. And to make things worse, she's on her own out there."
Wendy got back up, a little ruffled and bruised but still able to fight. Sherria then attacked again, using her Sky God Dance, but Wendy met her with another Wing Attack. The two girls clashed and collided with their magic, each one making shockwaves rip through the arena.
"Look at those two go! This match keeps getting better!" Chapati cried still in a cutesy demeanor. "Not only are these girls ranking high on the cuteness scale, but they're also super powerful! It's a full-force battle of the breezes, but will Shelly-welly blow lil' Wendy away?!"
For the moment, Wendy appeared to be at a disadvantage and out of breath, but she wore a determined look that showed she wasn't ready to quit.
"I wasn't expecting this," she panted.
"I've heard about you from Lyon, who said that there was someone in Fairy Tail with magic like mine," said Sherria. "The thought excited me, but maybe a bit too excited. Sorry if I went a bit overboard."
"No, I'll be fine," replied Wendy. "This is a fight, after all."
"And since we're both here, we might as well have some fun, right?" smiled Sherria.
"Truth be told, I never understood how fighting can be fun for some people," winced Wendy. "But even so, I'll do my best for Fairy Tail and give it my all!"
Sherria then winked. "I like your attitude, Wendy," she said brightly. "Then, I'll do the same for Lamia Scale and love!"
Then, Wendy took a deep breath inhaling vast amounts of air, and Sherria did the same.
"This is the first time I've seen the kid eat her element." I thought. "That can only mean she's about to get serious."
Then, Wendy took a stance as a giant green magic circle appeared beneath her.
"DRAGON SLAYER SECRET ART...!"
A smile then curled on my lips. "So she mastered a secret art as well, eh? And at her age? I should've seen this coming."
A barrier of wind surrounded both girls, trapping them inside. Then, Wendy let out a yell I didn't expect to come out of her mouth.
"SHATTERING LIGHT: SKY DRILL!"
She moved her arms counter-clockwise, and the wind barrier contracted inwards, creating a powerful blast that made the whole arena tremble from its power alone. Sherria, taking the full force of the attack, was blown away, her clothes mostly tattered and severely wounded, before falling to the ground.
Mato quickly rushed over and looked Sherria over, seeing she wasn't moving. "I-It looks like Sheria is down," he said. "Therefore, the winner of this match is-!"
But at that moment, Sherria spoke up. "Wait, wait! Don't count me out yet!" she called out. "I'm still in this fight!"
Then, to the surprise of all, especially Wendy, Sherria got back on her feet. At the same time, all of her wounds and bruises slowly faded away until she was completely healed.
"No way! How the heck is she still after that attack?!" exclaimed Cana.
"Not only that, but her injuries have all healed!" gasped Gajeel.
"So, she can use self-healing magic like me," I murmured. "I didn't see that coming."
"And to make things worse, Wendy looks like she used every ounce of her strength in that attack," Mira spoke worriedly. "This doesn't look good for her."
"The poor girl can barely stand up," Juvia spoke worriedly.
"That was so much fun!" Sherria spoke eagerly. "Let's keep playing some more!" Then, she took notice of Wendy, who was not only still stunned but looked even more exhausted, which made her worry. "Whoa. You're not giving up, are you?" she spoke with a worried frown. "Look, I don't love fighting, but I don't exactly hate it either. It's only going to get worse for you if you keep going because it's obvious that I've won this fight. So if it's all the same to you, maybe you should give up. There's no shame in doing so."
At first, Wendy stayed silent, but then she gave Sherria a determined glare. "No! I can't!" she spoke defiantly. "The fact that I'm still standing here in front of you means that I'm not backing down! I'm willing to give everything for my guild, so thanks, but I don't need your pity! I'm not giving up, so please give me everything you got! Beat me until I fall to the ground!"
Everyone seemed to stare in stunned silence, not expecting such words from the little girl.
"Wendy..."
Sherria then smiled in admiration. "Well, if that's what you want," she said. "I guess it's time for my big finish!"
The God Slayer held out her hands, generating spirals of black wind with purple hues while black feathers danced around her form, rising above her body and her magic power climbing at a high rate.
"That level of magic energy...! Looks like she's got one, too!"
"GOD SLAYER SECRET ART! GATHERING CLOUDS OF HEAVEN!"
The black feathers formed into a wing-like formation as Sherria launched them at her target in a curving stream. Wendy seeing the attack coming for her, crossed her arms across her face, bracing for the impact. However, instead of the attack striking her, it shot past her head, completely missing her.
Sherria was astounded while Wendy flashed a confident smile. I then realized what had happened, which surprised me and amazed me.
"Wait! What the crap just happened?!" barked Gajeel incredulously. "Did she dodge it?!"
"No, it missed her!" said Cana. "But... how? Not one to complain, but she was right in front of her!"
"Sherria's magic can perform self-restoration, but it's limited," said Mira. "It can restore physical damage but can't recover stamina."
"Meanwhile, Wendy's magic does the opposite," I said. "Hers can't self-restore, but it can restore a target's stamina."
"But if that's the case... then does that mean...?" Juvia trailed off, now understanding as well.
"That's right. I don't know when she did it, but Wendy secretly restored and increased Sherria's stamina," I said. "And the increase of it all caused her to lose control of her attack, therefore missing her."
"Well, I'll be damned," Gajeel murmured in amazement. "And here I thought Water Boy was the one who cooked up the crazy plans."
Mira then nudged me while winking. "Looks like our little girl's taking a page from your book," she said.
I could only smile.
Sherria was also impressed. "What a great tactic!" she congratulated. "Way to go! You're awesome, Wendy!"
The two girls then launched themselves at each other, resuming their fight using their bare hands and magic. As the two clashed, I couldn't help but watch the two in sheer amazement, particularly at Wendy.
"What an amazing turn of events, ladies and gentlemen!" screeched Chapati. "Neither one of these girls is giving up as their small fists collide! Are they duking it out just for the sake of their guilds?!"
As Wendy and Sherria continued to fight, I couldn't help but notice how fierce and determined Wendy looked. It made me think back to when I first met her, remembering how timid and scared to fight she was. If the person she was back then met with how she was now, you would think they were two separate people. The mere thought of it made my heart fill with pride.
"What the heck, Wendy? When did you grow up to be such a badass?"
The crowd also began to cheer wildly, encouraging both combatants to do their best.
Just then, the bell sounded, catching my attention.
"You know what the sound means, folks! Times up!" said Chapati. "It looks like this match will end in a draw! Therefore, Team Fairy Tail A and Lamia Scale earn five points!"
Everyone applauded and cheered as Wendy and Sherria remained standing, the two completely out of breath.
"Damn. That kid's something else," said Gajeel.
"No kidding," agreed Cana. "She really gave it her all, didn't she? Her and Sherria."
"Those girls may be small, but they both fought like full-fledged wizards," Mira spoke with a smile. "I'm so proud of them."
I concurred with a hum and a nod as I smiled.
Sherria then approached Wendy while holding out her hands as they glowed slightly. As she did, Wendy's wounds began to heal all at once. "That was a lot of fun," said Sherria. "It's not much, but this is my way of saying thanks."
Wendy smiled. "It's kinda weird, but I had fun, too," she said to her.
"Hey, do you think we could be friends?" asked Sherria.
The little bluenette was taken aback. "Well, I guess so. That is if you don't mind having someone like me as a friend."
Sherria clicked her tongue. "Nope~! That's no way a friend should answer," she said with a wink as she held out her hand. "Let's be friends from now on. Whaddya say?"
Wendy looked at Sherria's hand and then back at her before broadly smiling. "Yes. I'd love to!" she replied as she eagerly took her hand, shaking it.
"Is that not the sweetest thing you've ever seen?!" Chapati said with emotion. "What a match! This will go down as one of my favorites so far! The Games could end now, and I would be a happy camper!"
"Now hold on, we still have a ways to go, you know," interjected Yajima. "And besides, there's still one more match before the end of day three, or did you forget?"
"Oh, yes! That's right!" Chapati realized. "We still have our main event! The finals of the Crocus Fighters Tournament! And you all know who will be fighting in this match, folks! It's Quatro Puppy's Bacchus Groh against Fairy Tail's Willy Falconer!"
"Well, I guess that's my cue," I said as I turned on my heel. "It's my turn to shine now."
"Go get 'em, Water Boy!" rumbled Gajeel. "Knock out that drunk like a sack of potatoes!"
"And get revenge for me!" Cana added a bit angrily. "I still haven't forgotten what he did after that lousy drinking contest! Make him black and blue!"
I lightly chuckled as I started to walk away when Mira spoke up.
"Willy, hold on a minute."
"What's up?" I asked.
Mira now wore a concerned yet firm look on her face. "Listen, I have no doubt you'll win, but you better be careful," she warned. "Remember, Bacchus isn't your normal opponent."
I stared at Mira for a brief moment before smiling. "No need to tell me that," I said. "I know well enough not to underestimate him. Although, I am grateful that you're concerned about me." I then faced the opening leading to the hallway. "But right now, after seeing today's fights, I feel like I can already see my victory. No matter what, I will beat Bacchus and show everyone what I'm made of."
And after saying that, I walked away from Team B's area, heading for the arena.
Willy sets off to face off against Bacchus!
But will he also seize victory as did his fellow members, or will fate have something else in store?
