Chapter 18: A New Mission

Okay. I'm back and the story should be updating more frequently once more every two weeks now that I've finished off the other story I was focusing on.

Apologies if I come across as hateful toward Boruto if you're a fan of that. But I've become a real die-hard fan of Narusaku because of the things Kishimoto said I don't agree with. Though I hope not to become one of the rabid ones.

Guest: Oh I thought for a while you were being hateful about me giving Danzo's son the name Ranzo. I just felt that was an appropriate name since it sounded similar. I considered deleting that review but checking your abbreviations it seems you found it funny so I'll let it slide. Edit: Due to that review being suspected of being made by the same user who criticized the name Orenji as well that review will now be deleted. Get lost hater with bad taste those interactions were completely in character!

Thanks to one other review I know now that Kishimoto didn't make the databooks but regardless it was clear Sakura was developing feelings for Naruto by her blushing and Yamato's unfinished statement of her feelings towards him.

Hope to hear more from you guys reading this. I don't think I'll have much more to create here unless I get any suggestions since we are probably approaching the climax and end. See if I can make this up to 24 chapters or so. That would make this chapter the end of the third quarter.

Oh, and just a word of warning there will be the death of a major character coming up in just a few lines. Sorry to all of you that love this character!

Orochimaru sat at the table with his guest. Indra Otsutsuki looked at him with those all powerful eyes. The man had been here for the past few days and had come with demands, and an offer. Even as powerful as Orochimaru was he knew he could not hope to survive against this man who was the progenitor of all Ninjutsu.

"So, Orochimaru, have you come to a decision?" Indra asked with Ranzo Shimura's mouth.

Orochimaru nodded. "I'll help you. I can hardly refuse when the alternative is death. But my military is not prepared to take on the Leaf by itself, never mind the other four great nations."

"They will be irrelevant once I possess a stronger body with an actual bloodline connected to my own. Then I shall wipe out Asura's legacy. The last Senju's and Uzumaki's. Did you bring her?"

Orochimaru nodded, his smile faltering before he turned to the door. "Bring in the prisoner."

Two Sound Ninja opened the door and allowed another pair to enter. Karin Uzumaki entered the room her hands chained. She shook as she saw the man who her master conversed with. Indra got to his feet as Karin closed her eyes, knowing what was coming.

A shadow rod appeared in Indra's grasp and he shot it at Karin who fell, dead before she hit the ground. Orochimaru watched with wide eyes. Years ago, he would never have batted an eyelash, but being sealed by Itachi had opened his eyes to a degree.

At least her children and ex husband Suigetsu have returned to the Hidden Mist. He thought.

Indra grinned. That was one less member of the Uzumaki clan out there. Now only Naruto and his family remained.

Several weeks had passed since the Uzumaki twins and their Uchiha Teammate had passed their test to become Genin. They'd been on a few missions already. Weed pulling, dog walking, other simple ones. They'd been training as well. Improving their taijutsu and other skills as well. Kasumi had taken an interest in genjutsu as well.

The night that the Uzumaki and Uchiha children had become Genin, their parents got together for a celebratory dinner like they did at least once a month, going to the BBQ area with their old sensei and the Sixth Hokage.

"Well, I'm glad to hear you three passed your test like your parents before you. I think I will have to scold Sakura on letting you in on the details of the test," Kakashi said.

Sakura giggled. "Well I didn't know that they would end up taking the same test like we did back in the day!"

Kakashi sighed. "I suppose we might have to think about changing things up each generation. Well kids how does it feel to be a Genin?"

"Great!" Kasumi said.

"Yeah," Seyatsu said with a nod.

"I still think I should have been put a on a different team. Like with Shikanamu!" Orenjii said.

"Its tradition for members of those clans to be put on the same team," Kakashi said.

"Well like you said maybe we should think about changing things up each generation," Naruto said. "Maybe we can some teams switch members temporarily every so often? I worked in substitute squads myself with the others when I was young remember? Me, Hinata and Kiba worked together. We can do the same thing every once and a while if need be."

"Oh I think I'd like that!" Orenjii said.

"Do you have any idea what type of jutsu you might like to learn next?" Hinata asked the Uzumaki kids.

"Hmm… I don't know. I know how to use Mom's Cherry Blossom impact and both me and Orenjii can use Dad's Shadow Clones," Kasumi said. "Is there anything else you can teach us Dad?"

Naruto chuckled. He could teach them the Rasengan, but maybe in a little while. Things were very peaceful right now. They couldn't need it right away, right?

"Maybe in a little while. I don't think you need anything else from me right now," Naruto said.

He looked over at his youngest daughter who had been silent. She was coloring on the paper and paintbrush left on the table for younger kids. Naruto looked over and saw a picture of their family together. It looked very realistic.

"Hey that's good Hanako," Naruto said. "Maybe you could be become an artist someday!"

Hanako looked up and smiled at him. "Thanks Dad! I do like painting! Maybe I will do that! But I'm still not sure!"

Naruto smiled and patted his youngest's pink covered head. "You do whatever makes you happy Hanako."

"Yes, there is nothing wrong with an ordinary life," Sakura said.

"Yes," Hinata agreed.

"Hmm," Sasuke huffed, silently disagreeing a bit, but it wasn't his place to get involved with his friends family affairs. Coming from a proud clan of Shinobi he felt all members of the Uchiha should be so.

"Well if you want to try something new, maybe you could consider genjutsu," Kakashi suggested. "Sasuke has some powerful ones and I felt Sakura could be a good one when she started out, though she ended up becoming a strong taijutsu and medical specialist."

"I couldn't handle just being on the sidelines and always lagging behind Naruto and Sasuke," Sakura said. "Of course, that never really changed."

"You may not be as strong as them, but you are the best medical ninja in the Leaf, maybe the world," Hinata said.

"What do you think kids? Want to try some genjutsu?" Naruto asked.

"Nah! Illusions are for wimps!" Orenjii scoffed.

"Well, I'll give it a try!" Kasumi agreed.

"Sure," Seyatsu said.

They were now training with Mirai Sarutobi, her Sensei's cousin who had followed in her mother Kurenai's footsteps to master genjutsu. She'd had also inherited her father's chakra nature's as well and carried a pair of chakra blades at her hip that Shikamaru had given her. She'd just become a Jonin a few months ago herself but hadn't applied for a Team yet.

"Blinding Light Jutsu"

A flash of light shined brightly and every had to cover their eyes before they saw it or it would render them blind for a few minutes.

"Good work Kasumi!" Mirai said.

Kasumi smiled.

"Guess you're the winner of this one," Seyatsu said. "I still can't seem to make one."

"It requires a very good amount of chakra control," Mirai said. "Don't worry, I hear that those who have sharingan are able to use genjutsu with their eyes that are much more powerful."

"I'll only have one sharingan though," Seyatsu said. "If I can awaken it."

"You will someday. I know it!" Kasumi said with a grin.

She looked over at her brother who leaned against a tree.

"Orenjii! Get practicing you lazy redhead!" Kasumi yelled.

"You're a pain you know that Kasumi!" Orenjii said.

"And you are probably more Nara then Uzumaki!" Kasumi said.

"I'll take that as a compliment!" Orenjii said. "I didn't ask to come along on this genjutsu training anyway!"

"Fine if you're not gonna do anything walk home!" Kasumi snapped.

"Alright I will!" Orenjii said.

He began to storm off but was interrupted by the arrival of their sensei.

"You guys hard at work?" Konohamaru asked.

"Two out of three of us," Seyatsu said.

"Well, I think we're going to go on a little more difficult mission now," Konohamaru said. "We're gonna take a C rank mission!"

All of his genin grinned at him, even Orenjii.

"Yeah, that will beat sitting around or doing dumb kid missions!" Orenjii said.

"They are not dumb! They are needed to gain experience and provide income for the village!" Kasumi shouted.

"They are dumb and useless! Not worthy of a ninja! You're supposed to be the daughter of the Hokage remember! You say it yourself you want to set a good example and look good! Well I say it looks bad for you to do those missions!" Orenjii said.

"Shut up Orenjii!" Kasumi made to strike her brother on the head.

He blocked and counted with a punch that she blocked as well. They each sent a few more strikes out before Konohamaru stepped in and pulled them apart.

"Alright that's enough you two!" the sensei said. "I need you to put your sibling rivalries aside! This could cause problems for us while we are on a mission. You showed good teamwork in the bell task but division is still prevalent for you. When times are tough we can't afford to be fighting amongst ourselves."

Kasumi took a few deep breaths and nodded. "You're right Konohamaru Sensei. I'm sorry."

"Good now Orenjii, I admit I disliked the D-class missions. They are very boring not a real challenge. But your sister is right, they do give income that's needed for the village and allow us to build other skills before we are ready to go on the more dangerous mission."

"Hmph! Fine," Orenjii stated with crossed arms.

They walked to the mission room in the Academy where the Uzumaki siblings saw their father at the table with Iruka, Shino, and Shikamaru at his side. Sakura was currently working in the hospital and Sasuke at the rebuilt Leaf Police Center. Sasuke had worked long and hard in the past decade to preserve the peace in the leaf and the villagers now made an effort to be respectful toward him. Hinata meanwhile had retired from ninja life and worked a set of part time jobs to occupy herself. She taught young kunoichi how to press flowers as she enjoyed the activity in her spare time and ran a bakery as well. Even though she was a member of one of the wealthiest clans in the Leaf and married to Sasuke, not working would be boring and she wanted to contribute to her village in whatever way she could.

"Alright so you guys are headed out on your first C-rank mission huh?" Naruto asked as he saw his kids and Seyatsu (whom he considered a nephew of sorts).

"That's right Dad!" Kasumi stated with a grin.

"I say its about time," Orenjii stated.

"We'll do our best, Uncle Naruto… or Lord Hokage," Seyatsu said.

"Seyatsu, we're as good as family. No need to be formal with me," Naruto said with his carefree smile.

"Uh, okay," Seyatsu said.

"So, what's our mission?" Konohamaru asked.

"A group of thieves is raiding a mining town a few days out," Naruto said. "They've been making off with the metal there that is sent here and other places to make weapons like kunai and shuriken. We need to stop them and recover the missing metal."

"Understood Boss," Konohamaru said before correcting himself. "I mean… Lord Hokage."

He then turned to his Genin. "Get your supplies ready, we have a long journey for the next couple of days."

The Uzumaki and Uchiha children nodded. Time for their first mission outside the village.

Okay, now the kids get their own higher ranked mission. Will they have to deal with a rogue ninja on the way? Maybe… NOT! Yeah lets just have an ordinary C-rank mission cause why not? Though maybe it can be involved with the larger threat somehow (Indra). Maybe he's been building an army secretly with bandits and other organizations. What do you guys think.
