This chapter is another set up one. I am doing some things that were set up in previous chapters and now paying off now.
Chapter 29 book 2 chapter 2 An Immortals feelings
The hunt along with Artemis, Naruto, Apollo and Yugito were about to head off to another adventure when Yugito stopped with a thoughtful expression.
"Yugi-chan? Is something wrong?" Naruto asked using a close and personal honorific now it was only his family around him.
Yugito shook her head before a sweet and warm smile appeared on her beautiful face.
"There isn't anything wrong Naruto-kun. Its just I realized I left something in the air. Its only right I make it correct before it lingers." Yugito claimed as Naruto tilted his head in confusion.
Artemis turned to Apollo with a raised eyebrow who looked thoughtful as he starred at Yugito lips for a moment.
'Is Yugito really going to?' Apollo thought as he suppressed the urge to cheer.
Yugito walked up to Naruto before she bent to his level with a beautiful smile that made Naruto heart fluster.
'This isn't cool! Here Yugito wants to talk about something serious but all I am thinking about is how nice her sweet scent is in close range and how pretty her face is when she is smiling!' Naruto thought as a small blush appeared on his cheeks.
"Its only right I pay back my hero. I appreciate you going Tailed Beast Mode to protect me. Thank you, my Naruto." Yugito said in a sincere and grateful voice. AN2:
Naruto shuddered as she bent down so her warm breath caressed his face and before anyone could stop her Yugito pressed her soft and warm hand onto Naruto's chin. She then pulled him forward to plant another warm kiss using her luscious red lips onto his left cheek. She left her lips on his cheek for about 5 seconds before releasing him with a giant smile.
Naruto felt his face burn as he swore his hair was on fire as Yugito relatively innocent actions made his heart flutter and his body shudder with pleasure. It didn't help the close contact allowed him to discreetly take a whiff of Yugito hair which like her good lucks made men and women turn their heads when she walked by.
The Hunt was shocked with their jaws reaching the ground with Zoe narrowing her eyes in annoyance at this beautiful woman trying to 'defile' her little brother. Artemis had to be restrained by Apollo who held her wrist with one hand with a smirk.
Artemis was leaking killer instinct that would have made the Great Zeus himself hide in a corner but Apollo own power was cancelling it out. Artemis would never admit it out loud by since assimilating with Kushina and Minato respectively she could not honestly say she was certain she could defeat Apollo in an all out fight anymore.
"Relax. Yugito is just expressing innocent gratitude. Its not like she is inviting our boy to her bed or anything." Apollo stated as Artemis huffed in anger.
"I know! Its just a 'thank you' is also a great way to show gratitude! She doesn't need to place her lips on out baby cheeks every time she wants to thank him!" Artemis hissed in annoyance.
Naruto did not help his case to Artemis being 'unaffected and not tempted' by the pretty blonde when his hair flicked to red again and his eyes flickered from silver and blue.
"Uh… You're welcome?" Naruto stuttered as the warmth of her lips still lingered and it didn't help Yugito giggles sounded musical in his mind.
"So sweet. I might have to thank you more in the future if you have this kind of reaction every time I reward you. It might be worth it." Yugito teased with a wink that would have made most men beg her.
Artemis eyes flickered with silver light as she restrained her anger especially when Apollo turned around to stare at her in the eyes.
"Artemis. Don't. This isn't about our own wants and desires in controlling our son life or who he is close to. We want him to be happy. Don't make him miserable by chasing any girl that our son considers a friend even if that friend may one day share his heart." Apollo told her sternly.
This serious look actually made her anger go away as she was shocked by Apollo words. Artemis took a breath before a warm smile appeared on her face.
"Sometimes I forget you care about our son as much as I do. I am used to you taking a backseat when it comes to our son and what is best for him. It is nice to know you are thinking about his wellbeing even when I am sometimes blinded by my overprotectiveness." Artemis admitted as she was pleased at Apollo assertiveness.
Apollo gave her a smile in return as he glanced at Naruto from the corner of his eye.
"Our son, our mother and you are the three most important beings in my life. Nothing comes before you three. The hunt is a second but if our son is ever in danger I would put my life on the line to protect him." Apollo declared and the look of pure determination made Artemis eyes widen.
"Apollo… I…" Artemis stumbled a rare loss of words.
'Is Apollo really only Naruto's father to me? Or perhaps…' Artemis thought uncertain as times like this made her uncertain what Apollo meant to her.
'Before he was my annoying little brother who was far too brash and did not think of the future but now…' Artemis thought as her silver eyes flickered in confusion.
"I am the same. You three are my most important people too." Artemis mumbled with her cheeks a shade of gold for just a moment.
At this moment every woman Apollo seduced or bedded seemed insignificant compared to the Goddess standing in front of him looking down shyly. AN3:
'No even Aphrodite… can compare to her…' Apollo realized at this moment that Artemis was his other half.
Luckily for the two immortals everyone else was two concerned with the flustered Naruto and amused Yugito to pay attention.
"Apollo…" Artemis whispered as looked like she wanted to say something.
Apollo stopped her by gently placing a hand on her shoulder making her look up at him with surprise.
"I waited since coming here and didn't say anything. I can wait as long as you need. Forever if I have to." Apollo stated as Artemis felt a throbbing of her heart, she never experienced in her immortal life.
"…. Thank you… I just…. Need some time…" Artemis stated as Apollo encouraging smile made her smile.
'That's right… He is mine… No other woman can have him ever again…' Artemis decreed in her mind. AN4:
'I am not ready to be tied down by labels like marriage but we are a family…' Artemis thought realizing Apollo declaration to never have demigods again made her heart jump with joy.
'You and Naruto is all I need.' Apollo thought as he glanced at Artemis with love before it returned to the playful expression she was used to.
Apollo vanished and appeared so fast no one besides Artemis noticed.
"Don't worry. I would never force you to break your oath for my sake. Our son is already born and he is everything we need. I don't expect you to be in my bed. All I want is to be your side forever and to have people eventually know we are each other happy ending along with our son." Apollo whispered as Artemis eyes widened.
"Yes… I want that too…" Artemis whispered back as Apollo took a moment to hold her hand before he vanished back a 'safe' distance a few feet away.
Meanwhile Kurama and Matatabi were having a conversation in the mental plane where Tailed Beasts could communicate without interruption or anyone listening in.
"Nibi. What is your host doing to my partner?" Kurama asked sternly as he glared down at the amused blue two-tailed Tailed Beast.
"Despite what rumours have been spread about her. Yugito is very innocent in romance. She doesn't understand what she is doing could be considered romantic. To her this is what she should be doing to reward her hero. Naruto-kun is very dear to her and that is all Yugito sees." Matatabi explained as her two tails wagged lazily behind her.
"Tch. Your host is making my partner confused and that is not acceptable. Anyone who harms Naruto will pay the price." Kurama warned as he growled crossing his arms.
Matatabi continued to look rather amused as Kurama was acting more like an protective parent then a grumpy Tailed Beast.
'Hmm… so perhaps Naruto-kun is the one who Hagomoro Tou-san prophesized? He is not part of the world like we were lead to believe but perhaps he could be the one who saves it? A blue eyed boy who frolics with Tailed Beasts and shows us the correct path still could apply to Naruto-kun…' Matatabi mused as she closed one eye pretending to sleep as Kurama ranted at her for Yugito's 'annoying' actions.
The Hunt glared at the blonde female Jinchuuriki for 'defiling' their little brother innocence but the fact Naruto himself was willing to defend her made them reluctantly not shoot her with hundreds of arrows.
Yugito stroked his cheek once more giving him an amused giggle as Naruto blush subsided but he did look rather cute when he tried to look away.
Naruto remembered his promise to Hades as the stone is his pocket seemed to grow heavy.
"Mom! Dad!" Naruto shouted urgently as his parents rushed over to check up on their son.
"What is it Naru?" Artemis asked him as she bent down to look at him in the eyes.
Yugito wisely chose to step back to let Naruto's mother have a chat with him.
"I made a promise to contact Lord Hades when I had a chance." Naruto explained as he showed the black stone which now emitted a black glow.
Artemis and Apollo frowned as they looked at the stone skeptically as Naruto waved his hands when he could tell his parents were going to overreact.
"Its nothing bad! I just told him in exchange for releasing Ms. Jackson after we got his Helm of Darkness back I would contact him!" Naruto added.
"Hmm. Our uncle despite having a very depressing domain does keep his word." Artemis admitted as despite her father disdain for his older brother she could admit her uncle was more misunderstood then hateful.
"I agree! He didn't seem like a bad guy when I was in his domain and seemed lonely to me." Naruto noted as he remembered the look of sadness when Hades complained about Hestia not visiting.
The Hunt was silent as they didn't really have anything to say but they silently vowed they would send thousands of arrows at the Lord of the Dead if he made Naruto do something dangerous.
"Hmm Hades huh. So its this world's Death God or rather Lord of the dead as Thanatos is the one who actually reaps souls. Pretty different then the Reaper Death God from my world." Yugito mused.
Yugito smiled when Naruto laughed while Artemis, Apollo and even Kurama shared a grimace at the mention of the Elemental Nation Death God. Zoe frowned when her little brother appeared to be rather close to the beautiful young Yugito.
'I have to trust her since my Lady and my Lord have spoken of her character but I will still watch her. She definitely has the looks and charms of women who have lead men astray and I will never let that happen to my little Naruto.' Zoe thought possessively not realizing she was at least abit jealous of Yugito outwardly more mature figure and the fact she could in theory date Naruto without any sort of consequences.
When Chloe gave a look of confusion Artemis waved her hand as the air surrounding her turned mist and created an illusion. What could describe as a monsterous creature appeared with a knife in its mouth was shown. The hunt gave looks of disgust at the creature while Apollo and Artemis frowned at it.
Kurama gave it a middle finger inside Naruto's seal as he sweatdropped.
"Lady Artemis was kind enough to show it us when Naruto-kun asked during our training in the Elemental Nations." Yugito added as Naruto had begged his parents to show him the being that sealed Kurama inside of him. Artemis and Apollo were not pleased but Naruto used the infamous 'puppy eyes' jutsu and they relented.
"How does Lord Thanatos compare as he is the Death God here?" Yugito asked politely.
Artemis resisted giving a snappy response as she was still a tad annoyed that the beautiful young woman held such a connection with her baby boy but relented when Naruto looked curious. She waved her hand as the Elemental Nation Death God transformed into Thanatos.
The Hunt was silent as they swore off men but Zoe nodded her head at Thanatos appearance. Yugito whistled in appreciation.
"Hmm. Not really my type but hey I can understand the appeal." Yugito mused as Naruto looked at her confused.
"This is one God you do not want to meet. Unlike most gods he is 100% committed to his job. He makes no exceptions on reaping your soul. Once its your time he will be there to end your life." Apollo warned darkly as Naruto gulped.
"Not that you have to worry Naru! Papa will protect you from everyone!" Apollo assured him as he picked up Naruto to cuddle him as Naruto chuckled nervously.
Yugito laughed at Naruto father while the Hunt gave their nods of approval for Apollo's actions.
"Thanatos might look handsome but he is truly one of the most focused Gods. Even if you do him a favour do not expect one in return. He treats everyone equally besides Uncle Hades himself." Artemis added with a frown.
"Naru. Bring the stone and say Uncle's name. The stone will do the rest." Artemis told him kindly as Apollo let Naruto get back onto his feet.
Naruto picked up the stone and looked at it before nodding.
"Lord Hades. I ask for your time." Naruto stated clearly to the stone.
The stone glowed before mist leaked out and took the appearance of a circular window. The window solidified before an imagine of the Underworld appeared and it changed to Hades throne room where Hades was sitting with an impassive expression.
"Ah Naruto Uzumaki. I am glad you remembered to call me." Hades stated with a surprisingly warm tone and a smile much to everyone surprise.
When Hades appeared to see Naruto was not alone his expression changed back to a more neutral one.
"Oh course. I should have expected your parents to be there." Hades stated neutrally.
"Artemis. Apollo." Hades said simply with a nod of his head.
"Uncle you look well." Apollo stated with a carefree smile but everyone could see he was on edge with his hands clenched.
"Uncle. Why have you asked my son to call you?" Artemis asked sharply.
"Always straight to the point Artemis. That hasn't changed about you despite your son." Hades mused as Artemis frowned.
"Fear not. This is just an opportunity I have not considered before until your son came into the underworld." Hades stated as his expression softened when Naruto looked at him.
"What opportunity my Lord?" Naruto asked as he bowed to a knee with Hades nodding in approval.
"I can sense my sister Hera impart you with some of her powers so you can be her champion. I am not sure what schemes she might be planning but it is a rare oppunity for a God to give representation in the mortal world outside of their own children." Hades noted as he rested his cheek on his hand which was laying on his throne.
"Champion? Hera did that to Naruto?!" Zoe shouted in concern as the Hunt looked equally concerned.
"Zoe! Compose yourself!" Artemis warned raising her voice slightly.
Zoe and the Hunt bowed their heads as they realized it would be rude to shout in front of Hades when he was a guest at the moment.
Hades waved them off as he nodded to Naruto.
"Show me your arm Naruto." Hades asked kindly as Naruto blinked and nodded.
"Of course, my Lord." Naruto responded as he put his left arm out which glowed.
The Peacock symbol appeared above his arm showing that Naruto was indeed the champion of Hera. Zoe was suspicious but Naruto smiled at her and shook his head showing he was fine.
"Despite favouring that mortal Jason, Hera never branded him her champion. As far as I am aware Naruto is her first and only champion or at least one that has been giving some of her divine power." Hades mused as Artemis and Apollo nodded in agreement.
"Yes. Hera in declaring Naruto her champion in a snese saying Naruto is her son in a way. If father did not like Naruto already Hera would have not made such an attempt." Artemis noted with a sour expression at what Hera was implicitly declaring.
"No no no! Lady Hera told me to call her Aunty not mother!" Naruto blurted out trying to reassure his mother.
Naruto covered his mouth when he realized her blurted out information that Hera probably intended to be private.
'Please don't be mad Aunty Hera!' Naruto prayed but he only heard an amused chuckle from his Patron which sounded musical in his ears.
'Worry not my little one. I will not be mad at a slight slip up. It was only natural.' Hera assured him as Naruto mentally sighed in relief.
Apollo and Artemis shared a look when they realized Naruto was having a mental conversation with Hera but chose to let it go.
"Hmph. I suppose Aunt is fine. She just better remember who Naruto's mother is. Patron or not I am still his mother first and foremost. Not her." Artemis stated grumpily as Apollo just chuckled.
"Can I have a word in?" Hades asked drily as everyone turned back to the God of the Underworld who looked bored.
"I am sorry we lost track Lord Hades." Zoe stated with a bow as the rest of the hunt, Naruto and Yugito followed suit.
"Zoe Nightshade. The Lieutenant of Artemis hunt. Yugito Nii. The infamous Jinchuuiki my nephew and niece brought back from that other world." Hades acknowledged with a nod before he turned back to Naruto.
"Rise Naruto." Hades told him as he stood onto his feet.
"I would like to make you my champion and gift you a portion of my powers in return." Hades stated bluntly as Naruto looked wide eyed and the Hunt looked incredious.
Yugito shrugged not getting the big deal.
"Are you serious?" Apollo asked seriously with his eyes narrowed as Hades turned to him.
"Why is this such an issue or concern?" Hades asked flatly.
"Cause no mortal has been the champion of two different Gods in history!" Artemis retorted as she looked at protectively. AN5:
"Your son was already the champion of Two Gods before I asked!" Hades revealed as Artemis and Apollo looked surprised.
"What are you talking about! Hera so far is Naruto only Patron!" Apollo declared as Artemis nodded in agreement.
Hades scoffed and moved his occupied hand drily.
"Sister Hestia gave Naruto some of her power when you two declared her Naruto's God mother. It might not be as formal but Naruto became a pseudo child of her as a result and fulfilled the requirements of being a champion/Patron relationship. My sister might not see it that way but in the most basic of ways Naruto is already a champion of two Gods." Hades revealed as Apollo and Artemis looked at each other.
"I suppose you are technically correct but what does that have to do with you wanting Naruto to be your champion as well?" Artemis asked as she looked back at Naruto who smiled at her.
"Naruto Uzumaki was one of the first mortals in centuries if not millennia of years to try to understand my point of view during the little incident with the Symbols of Power. He did not instantly judge me as guilty just because I rule the underworld and unappreciated by Olympus!" Hades snapped as Artemis and Apollo looked away unable to dispute his words.
'Wow I am kinda feeling bad for the guy. His job does seem needed but I can understand people shying away from someone who has deal with death on a constant basis' Yugito thought.
Zoe and the Hunt looked uncomfortable as they couldn't exactly say they appreciated Hades either.
Naruto looked up and bowed.
"I understand it would have been wrong to judge you guilty without hearing your side. Plus it seemed odd to me the evidence especially when you would have gained nothing from a war with Lord Poseidon and Lord Zeus." Naruto stated confidently as Hades nodded in approval.
"Well said! My sister herself judged him to be fit to gift her powers to him so I will to." Hades stated as he looked at Naruto expectantly.
"Now my boy. Will you accept my power and act as a representative of me?" Hades asked as her sat up and put his hands and fingers together.
Naruto was surprised as he looked back at his parents.
Apollo sighed as he looked at Naruto.
"Hades has always kept his word and he does seem to truly wish our son no harm." Apollo stated.
"I suppose our boy having more allies is not a bad thing." Artemis admitted before she turned to Naruto.
"It is your choice. We won't force you to make it and if anything happens know we will always be on your side." Artemis told him gently.
"I know. I love you both too!" Naruto replied with a wide grin. His parents smiled softly at their child.
Naruto thought it over before nodding.
"Lord Hades I humbly accept your offer and promise I will make you proud!" Naruto declared as Hades had a small smile and nodded.
"Very well. Simple phsycial contact will be needed to seal the pact." Hades stated as he stood and up and prepared to snap his fingers.
Naruto blushed as he remembered when Hera kissed his forehead and let him feel her mature body up close when they sealed the pact but quickly regained control of his face.
Artemis and Apollo were about to object to Hades appearing in the camp before Hades raised his hands in surrender.
"Very Well. I Hades swear on the River Styx to not harm or allow harm to happen to Naruto Uzumaki, his parents or anyone at the Hunters camp during my stay there. No monsters or any of my servants will accompany me while I do the contact needed to seal the pact between myself and Naruto Uzumaki!" Hades swore as there was distant thunder showing that the Styx heard his oath.
Artemis and Apollo let a sigh of relief and nodded. Hades snapped his finger and instantly appeared in the middle of the hunters camp. The Hunters resisted the natural urge to draw their bows as they bowed. Yugito bowed as well resisting the urge to sweat when she could sense the power oozing from the Eldest of the Big Three.
Hades smiled at Naruto and put his hand on Naruto shoulder in a fatherly motion as Naruto gasped as Hades symbol appeared above his forehead in a pseudo claiming.
"Make me proud champion of Hades." Hades told him as Naruto nodded quickly.
"I will… Lord…" Naruto stated before Hades shook his head.
"You can simply say my name. You represent me after all." Hades stated as Naruto nodded.
"Very well. I will make you proud Hades." Naruto stated as Hades smiled.
"You can pray to me whenever you need or simply speak to the stone. Its enchanted to always return to you and only respond to you alone." Hades added as he walked away.
Hades gave nods to Artemis and Apollo before snapping his fingers and vanishing in a puff of black smoke.
"Our uncle is always busy so I suppose he is not much for chitchat." Apollo told Yugito who nodded in understanding.
"I didn't think my baby would be a champion of Hades but I suppose its not the worst thing. If anything, it will only help him in the future." Artemis stated with a sigh.
AN2: Yugito in this context doesn't realize that people could interpret this in a romantic way. She has been pretty constantly lusted after so she doesn't have much if any interest in romance. But Naruto is special to her not just because they are jnchuuriki. Later on when Naruto is older and not just 'cute' to her she will start to realize a relationship beyond kinship is what she wants.
AN3: Apollo did show outright jealously and protectiveness all the way back in chapter 3 with Ares trying to hit on Artemis and he did admit for a moment Aphrodite (who instinctively change appearance to the viewer 'ideal' look) did look like Kushina and Artemis for him. Its just he never acted on these feelings and subconsciously suppressed them as Artemis was too important to him to 'force her' to love him in a romantic way.
AN4: Artemis has actively thought of Apollo being the father of her child as being something simple but this chapter made her realize that she doesn't just want him to be the father of her child. She wants Apollo to feel like he matters to her more then a 'sperm donor' but someone she loves to.
AN5: This context implies that Gods declaring and gifting champions is rare in the first place but having two different gods declaring the same champion is unheard of,
