THE FOLLOWING MORNING
I stir awake feeling Hinata fingertips along my skin. I smile before rolling over. Hinata is asleep. His hand stops moving resting on my side. I enjoyed that more than I should. I can't help it that he looks adorable laying on his side, hair is a total mess. Something I clearly helped with. I don't want to leave him alone. I grab my clothes from the floor putting them back on. I need to shower but I will wait until Hinata is awake. Just in case he needs me I want to be here when he wakes. I creep back into my room quietly not wanting to wake anyone else in the house. I grab my current sleeping attire knowing I will be showering later. I'm going to want some fresh clean clothes to change into. My phone chimes distracting me.
Akaashi: I made it home safely
Akaashi: I guess Hinata has you busy
My face flushes as I remember Hinata and I was busy last night alright. I mutter to myself covering my mouth fighting down my arousal as I remember what his mouth felt like. I shake my head clearing my mind.
Kageyama: I'm sorry I am just responding. Glad you made it home okay.
Akaashi: Hey, I know your hands were full. How is Hinata?
Kageyama: Still sleep
Akaashi: I bet he is. I have never seen him drunk. It was rather amusing.
I chuckle because Hinata is certainly a happy drunk. My face falls a little as I do know that something was stressing him. I didn't know he was so hands on though. I certainly didn't mind last night. Makes me wonder how has he been dealing this whole time? I get changed into my PJ's getting distracted when I hear Tsukishima and Yamaguchi. That's unusual.
"I'm trying to nap," drones Tsukishima.
"Nap!" exclaims Yamaguchi. "It's noon! You never nap. You're running from me."
"I'm not running for you," he replies. It's strange because even I can hear something is off. Tsukishima tone is not it's usually confident self. If I noticed I know Yamaguchi noticed.
"So now you're going to lie to me?" questions Yamaguchi. "What's wrong with you?"
"Nothing," replies Tsukishima. "I'm seriously tired."
"Fine," snaps Yamaguchi. "I'm not doing this with you." I hear the door slam. Wow….I have never seen them fight. This is strange to say the least. I pocket my cell phone before grabbing my laptop peeping into the hall. Tsukishima room is now silent. I make my way back down the hall to Hinata's room. He is bawled up with his face in distress. That makes me feel sad. I'm really hoping he does tell me what is bothering him. I open my laptop logging on.
I see that I got a few more interview offers. Nice to know those people see something in me but I am already off the job market. I rub my chin lightly deciding to work on Hinata's resume. We both only ever worked at the bookstore. I will need to add our college and his current GPA. Lucky for us we aim for high marks because we needed it for our scholarships. Not to say we would fail but we certainly wouldn't have been busting ass. Hinata surprises me when his hand reaches out draping over my stomach. He snuggles into my side making me smile. My phone buzzes distracting me.
Akaashi: What are you up to?
Kageyama: Working on some stuff. I really should be getting ready for my new job. I can get to that later this week. God I have to buy clothes for the office.
Akaashi: lol, you sound very unhappy about that
Kageyama: I love my active wear. I am not the dress up kind of guy. I had some stuff at home but I am sure I have outgrown it.
Akaashi: I love shopping. If your cool with it, I would like to come with you
Kageyama: That would be great, thank you. Um how about next Saturday. Not this upcoming one as I am still working at the bookstore.
Akaashi: Sure. I can meet up with you following work. I want to look up any sales going on. Let's do what we can to save you some coin
Kageyama: Much appreciated
Akaashi is thoughtful. I text with him back and forth for a while working on Hinata resume. I just finished his cover letter when he finally wakes. Hinata's eyes flutter open. He rolls on his back stretching a little.
"You're awake," I say quietly. Hinata slides his right hand into his hair nodding his head.
"What time is it?" he asks.
"It's after 2pm," I reply.
"After 2!" he exclaims sitting up. His hair is flying all over his head as he looks around. I don't know why he is panicking. Nothing major is going on.
"Relax," I reply. "It's not like you have anything to do today."
"I do need to wash my bedding," he says. "I need a shower….."
"Same," I reply. Hinata glaness at me. I can tell he is thinking about last night. He clears his throat.
"How long have you been up?" he asks. I shrug.
"A few hours," I reply. "Doesn't matter."
"It does," replies Hinata climbing out of bed. Damn he looks good. I can't help it as I stare at his naked form. "Why didn't you shower?"
"You needed me," I admit. "I didn't know when you were going to come around. I wanted to be close by just in case. I also didn't want to be clean getting back into the bed we….you know…." Hinata blushes looking away from me. "You can shower first."
"Are you sure?" he asks looking over his left shoulder.
"I am," I reply standing up. "I will head to my room so you can get your bedding put in the wash."
"Good idea," he replies standing up. My eyes drop down to that ass. Hinata walks over grabbing his robe. I cover my mouth looking away. I need to distract myself. I can't stop thinking about what we did.
"Are you hungry?" I inquire.
"I am actually," he replies. "I'm thankful I didn't vomit up my soul last night."
"You are very lucky," I reply closing my laptop. I thought he was going to because he looked pretty far gone. "I have things to discuss with you. Nothing too important. What would you like to eat?"
"I need the fuel," he replies thoughtfully. "But I also need something a little light."
"Ramen," we say at the same time. We both begin to laugh. Hinata grabs his shower walking over to me.
"Thanks Tobio," he replies. "I'm not ready to talk yet but you being here for me means a lot." My hear flutters hearing him say that. I don't know how to tell him I appreciate him being honest with me. He showed me how he felt last night. At least I was able to leave him in a better mood last night.
"I know," I say softly. We stare at each other before I follow him out of his room. Hinata heads into the bathroom while I go into my room. I can hear Hinata running back to his room to strip his bed. I can't wait to shower. I think it is best he goes first. I know Hinata has a lot on his mind. I am hoping to lift his spirits with this food. I spend my time looking for jobs that I think would be a good fit for him. The hard part is finding entry level. Working at a college bookstore doesn't appeal to most hiring managers from what I see. It's why I worked so hard on his resume. My phone alerts me to our order arriving. I head downstairs to see Tsukishima with the bag in and drinks in his hand. "Thanks."
"Welcome," he replies. "It was simple since you paid for everything up front." I stare at Tsukishima remembering the conversation I overheard this morning.
"You doing okay?" I inquire. Oddly enough I am slightly worried.
"Why wouldn't I be okay?" he asks coldly shifting his eyes away from me. I walk to the kitchen knowing I need move our items to the ramen bowls we own.
"I'm just checking on you," I reply. "We were teammates and now roommates."
"I'm fine," he replies folding his arms. "Should you and Hinata be eating that?"
"We are in off season now," I reply. "We can enjoy ourselves. We could have ordered way worse."
"Um hm," hums Tsukishima. "I will take it the outing last night went well." Every time I think about last night I can only think about what Hinata and I did. It felt….great. It's not anything I will forget anytime soon. I find myself wanting to do it again, even now.
"Yeah, it went okay," I reply. "Not a fan of the bar really. It got too crowded around midnight. I hate when places are crowded." I walk to the kitchen with Tsukishima behind me.
"I can't even imagine," he replies. "I wish I had joined you all last night." This catches me off guard because I know Tsukishima is not a bar or club person. He like me in a sense. I know he usually prefers to avoid the crowd.
"You could have come," I say pouring the broth into the ramen bowls.
"You sure?" he asks. "It's a gay bar right….." The way he says that has me look at him. He isn't trying to offend me. I feel there is more to that statement. However, I will tread lightly.
"It's bar for gay and bisexual," I explain. "I'm sure anyone can go to that bar if they want to. Akaashi said Bokuto goes there with him all the time. He is heterosexual." I begin adding the fixings to the ramen. Tsukishima is so quiet I glance at him. "You can go there if you want. That is all I am saying."
"Whatever," he mutters. "I need a drink." Say what? Tsukishima goes into the fridge grabbing a beer. He doesn't even like beer. Tsukishima disappears back upstairs. I have to agree with Yamaguchi he is acting strangely. Tsukishima doesn't care about what others think of him. I know if he was gay or bi he wouldn't hide that. Something else is going on. I am going to mind my business though. I finish fixing up our bowls carefully traveling up the stairs. I head into my room setting the bowls on my desk. I had to go back downstairs for the sweet tea I ordered along the ramen. A knock at my door has me turning around. Hinata is there in his comfy shorts and tee with freshly washed hair. I can't help but smile.
"Looks like that shower did you some good," I reply. Hinata chuckles.
"It did," he replies. "Please go and take yours since you couldn't last night. I know you must have hated that."
"I was spending time with you so it's fine," I reply. Hinata blushes causing me to look away.
"I will eat when you get back," he replies. "Although I am going to drink some sweet tea!" I laugh closing my room door. I remove my shirt.
"You can eat if you want," I reply. "Don't forget to check on your bedding."
"Right!" he exclaims taking a sip of his tea. "I'll be right back."
"I will be in the shower by then," I reply.
"Uh huh," says Hinata walking out of my room. I remove the rest of my clothes putting them in the dirty clothes. I put on my robe grabbing my shower bag. God I can't wait to clean this filth off me. Smelling like cigarettes and sweat is getting to me. I walk into our hall bathroom feeling the moisture left behind. I remove my robe hopping in the shower. My mind wonders to Akaashi. I wonder how things will go when we go shopping together. I mean is this a date or are we just hanging out? I would like to think if it was a date Akaashi would have just said so. I need to stop overthinking this. It's hard not to since I have never dated anyone. I sigh feeling so slow as most people have experience in the dating world by now. I head back into my room surprised to see Hinata on my computer. He glances at me in awe.
"I know you're not snooping," I reply. "What's going on?"
"You created a resume and cover letter for me," he says standing up. "It looks so much better than what I have."
"I know it is," I reply. "I figured I would do what I can. Can't leave my best friend alone at the bookstore. We have to grow together right." Hinata smiles nodding his head. I remove my robe stepping away from him to get dressed.
"I'll reheat the ramen," he says suddenly. I'm looking in my draw as he goes to do that. Is it just me or did that feel weird? His tone sounded….I don't know different. I push the nagging thoughts down grabbing me some comfortable shorts and tee shirt to wear. Yeah this will outfit will do just fine.
