Hi guys and gals, This is my first attempt at writing a story so any advice and help would be appreciated. If i mess up what characters call each other let me know so I can fix it in the future. Feel free to offer suggestions as well for the story.

With all fanfiction I dont own Naruto or any characters in it.

Naruto ran through the forests of Konoha with a large scroll attached to his back thinking about all the things he could do once he learned one of the techniques in the scroll. He was actually going to be a ninja after all this time. "That damn clone jutsu always failed me but now all I have to do is get one of these down and ill officially be a genin". Naruto said to himself as he hopped from tree to tree. The clone jutsu was the bane of his existence ever since he entered the academy.

Naruto stopped running and stopped in a small clearing 'this looks like a place good as any'. Naruto set the scroll down and unrolled the forbidden and secret techniques of the village hidden int eh leaves and his mood dropped as he read the first jutsu he saw. "Gah, Another clone jutsu." His nemesis, the clone jutsu. He had failed the academy 3 times thanks to this damn jutsu. This one however was different, it was made of wood. Naruto narutally had decided toskip that day in class where they discussed Kekkai Genkai, so he had no idea that it was only available to a select few. "Well whatever now's not the time to be picky" Naruto sat down and began to study the scroll intent on getting it down.

Meanwhile in the village almost the entire shinobi force was combing the village looking for Naruto and the scroll that he had stolen. Ninja searched his house everywhere he frequently used when hiding from them after one of his famous pranks. The Hokage had told them that the beast child, Naruto, had stolen the scroll and run away. Certain ninja licked their lips, this was the excuse they needed to do what needed to be done, even the Hokage couldnt fault them if the brat died after what he did.

But Iruka had an idea where he was. As he ran through the forest his thoughts were fighting in his head. 'I can't believe Naruto could have done something like this. He has always been a prankster but even he should know that this is taking it too far'. After what seemed like an eternity of worrying for the state of his student of he didn't find him first, Iruka heard woops and cheers that sounded just like when Naruto successfully pranked someone and laughed at them.

Iruka landed in the clearing and let loose his voice "NARUTO!" Naruto stopped his celebrating and knew that with that tone he was definitely in trouble.

"Naruto what the hell were you thinking stealing that scroll? Why? Why did you do it Naruto?" He asked pleadingly hoping that there was some way to explain this that might not end badly for Naruto.

Naruto looked at his teacher as if he had grown an extra head "What do you mean Iruka sensei? I learned a technique from the scroll so that means I pass right?"

Iruka looked at his student in the same way he was looking at him "Who told you such as thing as that Naruto?"

"Mizuki of course, he said that if I could learn a jutsu from this scroll you would pass me." Naruto jumped in the air and threw his first to the sky "And guess what, I did. So, hand over my forehead protector already" Naruto said unaware of the extent of his actions.

The second the name of his assistant was uttered from Naruto's mouth Iruka's mind went into overdrive. Why would Mizuki tell Naruto that? What was the point of making him take the scroll and try to learn one of the forbidden techniques? But before he could think of any reasonable answer another figure stepped into the clearing.

"Great job Naruto, now hand over the scroll and you pass" Mizuki revealed his location carrying 2 large shuriken on his back.

"Naruto get behind me." Iruka commanded putting himself in front of him between his assistant. "Don't let go of that scroll okay Naruto" Naruto nodded and clutched the large scroll in his arms worried that his sensei went on alert at the arrival of Mizuki.

Mizuku shook his head and unstrapped one of the large shuriken from his back " Now Now Iruka, would you especially of all people protect him? He's done more to hurt you than anybody."

Iruka pulled out a kunai and readied himself "He's my student, now why the hell did you send Naruto to steal the scroll for you?"

"Power of course, when I give that scroll to lord Orochimaru he will give me all the power I could ever want. Now step aside and let me kill the little monster."

Naruto could be called dumb and idiot, but his mind started to connect the pieces of what was going on. "You tricked me into stealing the scroll for you. I'll never let you get it." Naruto tightened his grip on the scroll.

Iruka knew he was in trouble. He couldn't protect Naruto and fight Mizuki at the same time. At least not with the 2 shuriken he was carrying. Once he let those fly, he could dodge or it would hit Naruto. "Stand down Mizuki, this can still all stop right now, and we can all go back home."

Mizuki looked at him and laughed "There's no stopping this now Iruka, all I've got to do is get through a teacher playing ninja and monster who couldn't pass the academy 3 times in a row. I think you might wanna step aside and walk away."

Iruka stared him down but didn't move an inch and pulled another kunai out of his hip pouch.

"You would really protect the monster of the village. I'm ashamed of you Iruka, The little runt has the ky-"Mizuki ducked as one of Iruka's kunai sailed where his head was a second ago

"Shut up Mizuki, Naruto is my student and ill protect him from the likes of you" Naruto looked up at his teacher with tears shinning in his eyes. No one had ever said anything remotely that nice to him.

"Fine, die with him if you want to" Mizuki launched the oversized shuriken at Iruka. Iruka fell to one of his knees under the weight of the attack and saw another headed not towards him but towards Naruto. He pushed Mizuki's first attack away into a surrounding tree and jumped towards Naruto to stop the other shuriken.

Naruto saw the first attack but never saw the second. He was frozen in place and closed his eyes as he was sure he was going to die. Only the attack never hit him, he looked up and saw Iruka was pinned to the tree next to them with the large shuriken through his forearm pinning him in place.

"Now that he's down give me the scroll you little beast" Mizuki ran towards Naruto intent on getting the scroll for himself.

Naruto looked from his teacher to teacher and dropped the scroll "Iruka!" he screamed. Naruto threw his hands into a seal and pushed his chakra to create the clone.

Mizuki stopped dead in his tracks as he saw what unfolded. The dead last student who never could do anything right had what looked like a tree trunk growing from his back. Iruka could only stare from the tree he was stuck to as the wood coming from his student took shape. From Naruto came dozens of clones made from the fabled Mokuton kekkei genkai, a bloodline limit not seen since the founder of Konoha, Hashirama Senju.

Mizuki fell on his ass as the child who he had purposely failed for 3 years in a row multiplied into hundreds of clones made from the strongest clan jutsu in the world. "Wha-What in the hell is going on?" He stuttered in fear as he was grossly outnumbered.

"I wont let you hurt Iruka-sensi anymore, lets kick his butt" Naruto yelled as his clones cracked their knuckles. Mizuki had come this far, he was so close to the power Orochimaru promised him. He must have faked it, there was no way he actually made wood clones. Once he got rid of the fakes he would kill the brat and make his escape, this was a snag but nothing would stop him.

He took out 2 kunai and wielded both in his hands but before he could get anywhere the mass of clones converged, beating him senseless and into a pulp for his actions.

Scene break

"Hokage-sama Naruto is very sorry for stealing the scroll, Isn't he" Iruka emphasizes bearing down on Naruto.

"IM very sorry Hokage-sama I won't do anything like that again." Bowing his head "though can I learn some more jutsu, the one I have down is awesome."

Hiruzen raised his eyebrows and took a puff of his pipe "What do you mean 'more jutsu' Naruto?" He knew Naruto had the potential for greatness and to achieve his dream of being hokage. But the techniques in that scroll were both dangerous and near impossible to learn as a child.

"I mean old man, could I learn more of that wood style stuff? It looks super strong. Upon hearing this Hiruzen choked on his pipe.

Hiruzen coughed to clear his throat "Naruto do you mean to tell me you performed a Mokuton release?" He fell back into his chair after seeing Naruto nod his head yes as he thought of the implications for this news. He had only seen the later part of the fight in his crystal ball and assumed that he had made shadow clones, not Wood Clones.

"I can vouch for Naruto Hokage-sama, he did indeed perform the Wood style: Wood Clone jutsu" Iruka beamed proudly because this after all was his student that achieved the impossible.

Hiruzen 'The Professor' Sarutobi could barely believe what he was hearing. Naruto possessed the wood release, no one since Hashirama had ever had it since. What would that mean for his parents he thought. It's a bloodline style so Naruto must be related to the Senju clan in some way in order to be able to have the kekkai genkai. He thought back to his own teacher Tobirama, the younger brother of Hashirama, he couldn't recall any extra child from anyone in the now almost extinct clan. Tsunade never had a child, wait what did that mean for Tsunade Hiruzen pondered. She might come back with this news, but that was something for a later time.

"I'm very pleased to hear that Naruto, now the good news. Since Mizuki was the person behind the theift and he has been captured you'll be pleased to hear that you are off the hook for that" Naruto sighed in relief "This time." He added. "Also, since you failed at the academy because you couldn't perform the clone jutsu, it has been decided that you pass by performing a harder clone jutsu congratulations Naruto" Hiruzen pulled out a forehead protector and put it on his desk towards Naruto.

Naruto could no linger contain his excitement and jumped up and yelled out "Yes! I passed get ready to hand over that hat old man believe it! Oww" Iruka hit his head

"Stop calling the Hokage that Naruto."

"Yes Iruka-sensei"

Hiruzen spoke up again "Naruto be back at the academy in 1 week to meet your sensei." And with that Naruto and Iruka left the office to celebrate with some ramen for passing the exam finally.

Scene break

Naruto walked home patting his overly large belly filled with the food of the gods content with how the day had gone. He was now an officially ninja of Konoha and could start his journey to become Hokage. He knew that he would probably have to go back and see the old man for some help with jutsu. From how him and Iruka talked and what Mizuki had let out his new wood style was supposed to be rare and strong. It made him feel good to know that he had something that everyone else in the village wanted and with that he was special. Maybe once they found out he had wood style they wouldn't treat him so bad. Probably a long shot but hey a guy could wish.

He entered his small run-down apartment and sighed. After he failed his exam, he kind of trashed the place in anger and sadness and now it was a mess. Just to be able to sleep tonight would take forever. But wait, he grinned, now I've got clones to do it for me. "Wood Style: wood clone jutsu" he shouted as 2 clones emerged from his back.

"Wow, that's a weird feeling" It felt as if eggs were running down his back where the clones emerged but he shook it off. "Alright you two start cleaning this dump up" He put his hands together at all the possibilities that came with clones that could actually do stuff.

"lucky original" he heard the clones mutter as they began to clean up his apartment. For one thing he knew was that chores were going to become infinitely easier and faster. Naruto smiled as he rested his head on his freshly found pillow and fell asleep knowing he would never have to do a load of dirty laundry again.

Scene break

Naruto walked through the village heading towards the old man's office to ask him some questions about his new jutsu. As he talked through the streets he noticed that the glares today were especially bad. It was getting close to the anniversary of the kyubbi attack, oddly the same day as his birthday, and the glares were always bad as that day came around. The day that was supposed to be a great day celebrating his birthday always turned into a lonely night hiding from the glares in his room.

He shook away that thought and continued towards the tower. Once he entered and passed the always mean receptionists he asked the question that he had meant to last night but forgot. "Hokage-sama, what's so strange that I would have the wood release? I mean I can understand it's a rare combination of elements but why were you so surprised."

Hiruzen thought about what to tell the child. He didn't want to bring up the tailed beasts to hint towards the kyubii like Mizuki had almost done the night before but he had to tell him something to explain the gravity of it. "Well Naruto for one its strange because as far as I knew, you weren't a part of the Senju clan"

Naruto perked up "This means I'm part of a clan now?" He was on the edge of his seat hoping that he could have somewhere where he belonged.

Hiruzen knew how much Naruto wanted to be a part of a family and have people who were close to him like that so he took great joy in relaying it "Yes Naruto, because you posses the Senju clans's unique bloodline limit, it means that someway you are related to the Senju clan by blood." Naruto beemed, he had a family. He wasn't alone anymore.

"Who is still a part of the Senju clan hokage-sama?" Naruto hoped there were many.

Hiruzen rubbed his temples "Im sorry Naruto, but as far as I'm aware you and the sannin Tsunade are the last of the clan alive. Didn't you pay attention in school?"

Naruto had the sense to look a little ashamed "Kinda" he sheepishly replied. "Is there any chance I could meet her?" Naruto was looking forward to meeting his last living family.

A grim look covered the Hokage's face as he thought about his student. She had left the village after seemingly everyone she cared about died. She had lost her fiancé Dan and her younger brother in service to the village and he could blame her that she left. But with Naruto now the newest Senju member, she might return because of it, but only time would tell. "She left the village many years ago and hasn't returned since, she even stopped answering letters addressed to her. Maybe when you are strong enough you can search for her to reunite the remaining senjus'."

"Okay" Naruto lowered his head, he was so close but so far away at the same time. "Oh yea, I remember why I came here, can I go through that scroll again for more cool jutsu." Naruto hoped he would say yea and let him try out more of the legendary wood style.

"Unfortunately, not Naruto, those jutsu are a little to dangerous for you right now, but how about this. Ill tell your new sensei that when you are ready, he can teach you a new wood style technique how about that?" He knew Naruto wasn't ready for some of the techniques Hashirama invented but with time and control he could eventually show them to him.

Naruto puffed up his chest "You better believe it old man. I'll surpass you in no time with this jutsu believe it."
