Away
Bandit was sleeping in his tent. He and the workers had just arrived at the campsite. They were digging up the ground for the spinosaurus Bones. So far they have found nothing. Bandit was moving around in his Bed, Having a horrible dream.
He was walking through a cemetery. It was dark. He had a flashlight but it was barely shining. He walked up to where Chilli's mum was buried. He then shined the light on The burial area where chilli was put in. But there was a hole in the ground As if something had dug its way out.
"BANDIT"
He quickly spun around to Chilli. She was malnourished. Missing a few teeth and had a gap between her eyes. Where he had shot her, She crawled on all fours, In a slow but steady Circle. But she was limping. Blood flowed from her mouth and wounds.
"Having a nice life without me Bandit". She said with a rusty voice.
"I see you left Bluey and the Little Red shit. With my Whore of a sister, Not even 2 months. And you've already replaced me".
Bandit was frozen and he couldn't move. "I-I would never replace you Chilli, I loved you".
Chilli stopped crawling, She then sat down like a dog. "Loved me huh, You couldn't have left our daughters with the purple fat ass. Or what about Wendy, She was my Friend".
"THAT CUNT CALLED THE COPS. IT WAS HER FAULT THAT THEY KILLED-
"THEY? Who's They Bandit, It wasn't the Cops…..It was you". She started to crawl up to him. "You wanted to replace me for the whore. You didn't think I was good enough, did you? You just wanted to get rid of me, But yet when you did end my life, You even took my hand. So that you could fuck it whenever you had the Chance.". She said as she showed him her missing hand.
"I thought you were better than that Bandit," She said as her bones began to expand from her Body. Her skin started to stretch as she got bigger and bigger. She was now 4 times his size, Her whole body was stretched out, Making her body look lanky. The Red Heeler had four huge tentacles slithering out of her Back. Bandit tried to run away, But chilli stabbed him in the back, With one of her appendages. She brought him up, In front of her face. She opened her mouth as her pupils rolled into the back of her skull. Small skinny tentacles came out from her gigantic mouth. A good amount of them entered Bandit's mouth. She clamped Her mouth
"CHOMP"
Bandit woke up to a cold sweat, He was back in the Tent. He heard the rest of the workers leaving their tents. He got up and put his sun hat on. Morocco was hot, And it made working under the sun. Harder for all of the working dogs. A lot of big machines were digging up holes. Trying to find Dinosaur Bones, Bandit got out of the tent. "Morning Bandit" Marcus said, He was a white and Brown beagle with glasses. He was drinking coffee And had one more mug for Bandit. "Thanks, Marcus," Bandit took a long sip from the Mug.
"Have we found anything besides a bunch of dirt"? Bandit said as he gave the Mug back to Marcus. "No, But the boss said he is more than certain, That we'll find the Fossil". Marcus took a sip from his coffee. "BONES" yelled one of the workers inside the many holes they dug up. All the workers ran up to see if it was true. Surrounding the large hole.
"Ey move aside you lot". Said a small pug wearing glasses. He was the boss, An 80-year-old dog. That should have retired, A decade ago. "Jimmy, Bring me down there" He yelled at one of the workers on the digger machine. She moved the giant machine near the boss. He jumped inside the claw of the machine.
The worker gently placed the claw on the ground. The boss walked up to where they said. To have found the bones. Even though they found the fossil. They still had to make sure it was a spinosaurus. The boss moved the dirt gently off the old Bones.
He took out a small spinosaurus fossil he kept by his side for 40 years. It was his lifelong dream to find the entire skeleton of a spinosaurus Since they are considered to be very Rare. He sniffed up the scent of his own Fossil. And then he began to sniff the one on the Ground. Everyone on top of the hole waited eagerly.
"IT'S A SPINOSAURUS"
The boss yelled out, after all these years. They found a Complete spinosaurus fossil. It was a discovery of a lifetime. Everyone began to cheer, Even Bandit.
"Can you Believe it, Bandit? Come on, we have to go get the tools '. Marcus said as he ran to grab his tool Box. Bandit ran back to his Tent to grab his equipment. He was about to leave when he remembered about his daughters. He stopped himself And thought about them.
Since he was in Africa there was a 10-hour difference. It was 8 am in Morocco, meaning it was 6 pm in Australia. Sadly he didn't have time to video call them. So he q took out his phone. And send Brandy a quick text.
"Good evening Brandy, how are the kids doing? Just checking up on them"
He sent it, But he looked at the last text Brandy had sent her 5 years ago. "I'm sorry," it said. Bandit looked at it. Thinking about what Chilli had said in his dream. He shook his head And ran to the stairs that lead into the hole. Where all the workers began to dig up the Bones.
BRANDY'S HOUSE
"AAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHH"
Bingo yelled as she dug the piece of glass deeper into her hand. She didn't want anyone to know that she bites herself. So Bingo made it look like an accident.
Brandy slammed the door open. Bingo holding her arm and crying with a shard in the back of her hand. "OH MY GOD," She yelled as she ran to grab the toilet paper. And wrapped it around her Wound. It was the only thing she could grab. She picked Bingo up and ran downstairs.
"What happened to Bingo". Bluey yelled as she followed Brandy. She opened the door and ran to her car. She opened the door quickly, But gently put her on the Seat. "Bluey get in the car Now," She said as she got in the driver's seat. Bluey quickly got in and put on her seatbelt. She saw Bingo bleeding.
"SSSSSSSCCCCRRRSSSSSHHHHHHH"
Brandy quickly turned the car and headed down to the Hospital. It was the first day of taking care of the kids. And something horrible already happened.
3 DAYS AGO
"How could you leave your own Daughter overnight"? Wendy said as she parked the car near the Daycare. Both adults got out and headed to the Building. It was small and a bit run down, But it was still taking care of kids.
"Well by the way I was acting at the funeral. And the 3 and a half bottles I drank, I'm pretty sure it's self-explanatory". Wendy then looked back at the Car. "You forgot your daughter inside". She said to the Blue Heeler. "GOD DAMMIT" Stripe yelled at the sky. As he walked back to the Car.
The Trio entered, To see a small Pug at the front desk. She looked up to see Stripe and Wendy, And she scowled at the Blue Heeler.
"What the Hell is wrong with you?" She said in a Chinese accent. "You were supposed to pick up your daughter yesterday afternoon. I had to take her back to my house and feed her". She said as she took out a calculator. And she showed him the Amount of money he owed.
Stripe looked at the Calculator and cringed. "I'm sorry Ma'am I was busy all night. And I couldn't get…Her". Stripe lied to the Pug.
"What about her isn't she your Wife, Couldn't she have Picked her up"? The pug pointed at wendy.
"No I'm not his wife, I was driving him here because he was intoxic-"
Stripe nudged her on her shoulder. Not enough to hurt her, But enough to let her know to shut up. "Ow,'' she said, holding her Shoulder. "I don't care, Your daughter is in the playroom". The pug pointed to the left side of the Building.
"Hey, could you go and get socks for me. While I pay the kind lady". Stripe said sarcastically as he took out his Debit Card. Wendy just scowled at him. And went to the playroom, There were only a few kids in there. Playing with their toys, and Others were playing with pattycake. And then there was a caretaker teaching the kids their letters. But socks was nowhere to be found.
She then noticed a small lego castle in the Corner. It had a badly drawn X on it, Wendy walked over to see socks cowering in the Corner. The little Heeler had a gap in her teeth, Where Chilli had tried to force-feed her the glass. She whimpered when she saw Wendy. "Hey there Darling, I'm here to take you to your father". She said, smiling at her. When the Chow Chow went to pick her up, Socks started to whimper.
Wendy stepped back And had to think of a new way to grab the little Heeler. "Your father and sister are waiting for you". She said as she put her hand near her. Socks was at first hesitant, But she started to get closer to her. "Your father is a mess right now, But he needs you. You're going to see your mum Today". When Wendy said that, The Blue Heeler started to get excited.
But then she remembered what happened to her. She was starting to Think about the horrible traumatizing event. Socks started to cry, Wendy tried to grab her again slowly. She didn't resist, And even started to cry on Wendy's shoulder. Wendy patted her back as she walked out of the playroom.
When Stripe saw her come out of the room. He ran up to his daughter, Wendy gave her to him. "Socks, I'm sorry I left you, I'll never do it again". Socks started to wag her tail. She had to stay with the Pug last night. Thinking she was abandoned by her father.
Muffin was beside Stripe looking a bit sad, So wendy got down to her level. "What's wrong my dear, You're looking a bit down".
Muffin held her arm, She was starting to get attached to the Chow Chow. "I miss my Mum, I haven't seen her in this many days". Muffin said, showing all her six fingers. She was however wrong about the time.
"Oh……well your father says you're going to go visit her". Wendy said patting her back
"You're gonna go visit her too, you know". Stripe said, Putting Socks on the floor
"Why, I wanna go back home". Wendy complained, "Well that's my wife's car, And we're 20 minutes away from the hospital. So come on, I don't want to be late". Stripe said, walking to his wife's car, As Socks quickly followed him.
"I fucking hate you". She whispered under her breath. She felt something grab her hand. It was muffin, "Is it ok if I call you Aunt Wendy"? That surprised the Chow Chow. The little time she had spent with Muffin, Was one of the best things that had happened to her recently. Even if she was forced to help Stripe. Wendy sighed and walked outside of the Building. "Yes dear you can call me Aunt Wendy"
PRESENT: BRISBANE HOSPITAL
Bluey and Brandy were outside the room where Bingo was getting stitches. Brandy was looking through the message on her phone.
"Good evening Brandy, how are the kids doing? Just checking up on them"
Brandy didn't know what to say, So all she texted was to call her later on his break. She turned off her phone and smacked her hand on her head. Bluey however was looking around the room. Thinking in her mind. She tapped on her aunt's shoulder. "Aunt Brandy, Why did Mum go crazy and….killed". Brandy had told Bluey that Chilli did kill someone in the hospital. She even told her that she had hurt Nana and aunt Trixie. But before Brandy could explain why They heard the mirror crash.
The red Heeler looked around the hallway, She was remembering the day Chilli had cut her arm. Brandy was rubbing her now healed arm, She wanted to believe that everything chilli had told her was a lie. But deep down she knew it was the Truth. "No Bluey, We shouldn't be talking about this, At Least not now". Brandy patted The Blue Heelers' back. "But it wasn't her fault, The tumors mentally Broke her. She was supposed to pass away a day later, Before the whole incident". She said
Bluey looked down, At the ground, She hated the idea that her friends were right. But now she felt horrible that she punched her best friend in the face. Bluey grabbed her aunt's arm. Right now she was the closest thing that reminded her of her mum. Brandy felt the heeler's arms around her. She used her other arm to gently rub her head. In her mind a kid her age should not be going through something traumatic.
"Good Evening!" Said a black and white German shepherd, holding a Bag. Walking up to the two Heelers, Brandy remembered him before she went into Chilli's room, But she was curious as to why he would come up to them. "Hey there, I didn't get your name the last time we met. I'm Shaun Shepard, and you must be Chilli's relative". He said looking at Bluey, She waved at him with a smile he waved back. Brandy put her arm around Bluey's back, She was starting to get protective of her, Even though she wasn't her daughter.
"I'm Brandy, Chillis Sister, and I'm taking care of Bandits kids for now". She said looking away for a sec. "I'm sorry for what happened to your sister. I was there when it happened, And when I heard from the front desk that you brought the Kids. I decided to go down by the store and buy this not-so-accurate looking Emus". He then took out two Emu plushies he had in the bag. And gave them to Brandy, Even though she was confused, Bluey grabbed them and giggled for the first time in a while. "Oh my they're adorable, I'm gonna name the Blue one Shaun, Thank you umm…..Mr. Shepard" Bluey said as she then looked at the Pink one. "But what should I name the Pink one"? Bluey asked herself,
"I think you should name her Elizabeth, And I have one more little Emu for you". Shaun said, taking out a small Purple Emu from the Bag. Bluey grabbed it, It was really small with Beady eyes. "Wow thank you, What should I name it, I want to give it a girl's name". Bluey said as she wagged her tail. "Well there are so many, But I think you should name her Miranda. That name is very important to me". Shaun then turned to the left and gave Brandy a bar of Chocolate. "I didn't know what you would like so I bought you some Chocolate".
Brandy opened up the chocolate bar, She took a bite out of it. She never really liked dark chocolate. But she needed something to calm herself down. "And tell Bingo that Shaun said hi And that I hope she gets better". Shaun said, rolling up the bag into a ball, And putting it in his pocket. He walked away and entered one of the Rooms. It crept Brandy a bit that the german shepherd was this nice. The last time she met him he didn't show his dad much respect. He was still emotionless, But now he was showing that he cared about the Girls.
"Creak"
The left door opened to reveal A Bloodhound walking out of the room, With Bingo looking down at her wound. "Bingo" Brandy said as she walked up to her and hugged her. Bluey did the same And gave the Pink Emu to Her injured Sister. "She needed a hundred stitches for her wound, But no bones were cracked, And she should recover fine in a few weeks". The Bloodhound said as she gave Bingo a lollipop and walked away with the paperwork.
Brandy sighed "C'mon Girls it's late, And I have to drive back to my house". Brandy and the two little Heelers got out of the Hospital. "Bingo, look, this purple Emu is named Miranda. Shaun said that it's a very important name to him. And that he hopes you feel better". Bingo grabbed the purple ostrich, She still remembered what he told her about his daughter. As Bingo entered the car She hugged the purple emu, Thankful for the gift she had received.
As Brandy was driving down the road, Bluey and Bingo fell asleep. It was late and The Red Heeler was tired but she was determined to make it home safely. The last thing she wanted was a fatal car accident.
"RING"
"RING"
Bandit was trying to call her, So Brandy took out her wireless Earphones and put one on the right side of her ear. She then answered the call and put the phone on the cupholder. "Hey Brandy, how's it going, I'm on my lunch break. The boss bought us all food, We actually found a well-preserved Spinosaurus Fossil. Can you believe it? It's the discovery of a lifetime".
Brandy at first had a smile on her face When she heard just how happy Bandit was.
But anyways, how are the girls?".Her smile then went away. "N-Not so good right now…
.My bathroom mirror fell on Bing-
"IS SHE OK"? Bandit yelled worried for his daughter.
"Y-yes she's fine, But she had a cut on her hand. I took her to the Hospital. The doctor said it should heal in a few weeks". Brandy explained Bandit was quiet the whole time.
"And then there was an incident at Blueys school. She punched one of the kids, Because they kept on asking her if…..Chilli had you know killed the officer". Brandy kept her eyes on the road, Bandit was silent, But then he cursed quietly
"Fuck" He sounded disappointed."I wish I was there. Maybe the boss will let us leave early if we can get the Fossil to the Museum. I'm sorry you had to go through that Brandy". Bandit said.
"Don't worry about it Bandit, I'll try and do something. To make the girls happy, You know actually. When I was at the hospital, I met Someone I think you know?" Brandy made a turn to the left.
"Who," Bandit said, almost sounding like he wasn't interested."His name was Shaun Shepard, And he gave toys to the Girls". When Brandy said his name, Bandit started to remember Shaun. Even though he never really spent that much time with him. He was still grateful for what the German shepherd had helped him.
"Wait, Shaun gave the Girls toys. That's new, he's usually an emotionless bastard. Sorry for my language but I never thought he would have been so thoughtful". Bandit said as he laughed a bit.
"Yeah, he even gave me chocolate, And named Two of the Emus". Brandy said as she parked the car.
"So Bandit I was planning on taking the girls too somewhere fun. Do you have any idea where they would like to go? "Brandy said as she tapped Bluey's shoulder. Brandy then picked up Bingo, she was still sleeping.
"Well I don't know, do you think it's a good idea to take them somewhere. I mean Bingo, You should give her some time to recover. But you could take them to crazyworld in a few days". Bandit said as he sipped his coca cola.
"I've heard that the mascot is a giant purple squirrel. But I've never been there. How much are the Tickets?" Brandy then walked up the stairs to the guest room. Brandy had to buy two toddler-sized beds for the kids. She even bought some toys just for them, Bandit insisted on paying. But she kindly declined his offer.
"The tickets aren't too much, Like 50 for an adult and 20 per kid. But the kids will want to go on the big rides, I hope you don't mind that". Bandit said, Taking his trash to a nearby Trash Bin.
"Well I hope they'll like it, Hey Bluey do you want to go to Crazy World". Brandy said as she put Bingo down on the Bed." For real…Life". Bluey said tiredly as she got on her Bed.
"Hey, could you pass me to Bluey? I have to talk with her". Bandit said Brandy put her phone on speaker for Bluey."Hey kid, I heard what happened at School". When Bluey heard his voice she got up nervously, Thinking she was in trouble." I know it's been stressful mate, I know that it wasn't your fault. But you can't be acting like that towards your friends".
Bluey grabbed her arm in shame."I'm sorry dad, I was mad that they said that Mum was crazy. And that she killed someone". Bluey said to her father.
"But Aunt Brandy told me what happened. And the kids at school were right". Brandy cringed, She forgot to tell Bluey to keep it a secret.
"Did she?". Bandit said, sounding angry. Brandy then walked out of the room with her phone "Good night kids" She said as she walked into the bathroom. There were still glass shards on the ground. Alongside Bingo's blood, The red Heeler sat down on the toilet. Thinking she was gonna have an argument with Bandit.
"Bandit, I'm sorry that I told Bluey what happened but".
"Brandy"
"I know you're mad but she was arguing and yelling at me. She wanted to know the truth and".
"Brandy"
"I was not even in control of the situat-
"BRANDY".
Bandit yelled at her, Brandy was quiet. She was scared to hear what he had to say. "It's ok, It's Not a big deal, I was gonna tell her eventually. I just…..wanted to wait a little longer…..How did she react anyways, Does she know I killed her".
Brandy sighed in relief, But then opened her eyes. After hearing what the Blue Heeler said. "Wait…..I thought you said that the cops killed her not…….You"? There was an awkward silence, Bandit didn't respond.
"I'm sorry………I was the one that ……K-Killed her. Chilli was about to kill one of the other officers. Her gun landed near me, I didn't want to see Chilli kill anymore, I……I-I had to do it Brandy". Bandit said, As the room fell into silence.
"Sniff"
"Sniff"
"It's ok Bandit you had to do it, Out of all the dogs in the world. Chilli would have wanted you to do it". Brandy continued to cry. Bandit continued to talk to Brandy. Until his break time was over. Brandy then went to the girl's room, They were both asleep, Brandy rubbed her red tear-stained eyes. As she walked up to grab the Toys the German shepherd had given to them. She wanted to clean them, To make sure it was safe for the kids. She was trying to take bingo's pink and purple Emus. But Bingo just kept on holding them tighter, Brandy then gave up, She would just have to clean them tomorrow
She was about to leave until she saw two drawings on the little table, She had bought for the kids. One was a picture of Bluey underneath the Tree, And a black and white Border collie was beside her. Brandy had seen the kid, But never got his name. The other one showed Bingo in the corner hiding away from all the other kids. Brandy sighed and walked to her Bedroom, She got on her bed and looked at the top of her ceiling. "Tomorrow is another day". She said as she went to sleep hoping that the next weeks will be different.
2 WEEKS LATER
After Bandit and the workers had finally taken out the Fossils from the ground. They began to study them, And what they found out was that the spinosaurus which was originally thought to be lightweight and a deep swimmer, Was not even capable of swimming. The bones were too dense to even float, And it was also found out that they didn't have short legs. They were decently long.
Bandit and the workers suspected that it swam more like a hippo. The dinosaur would sink into the bottom of the river. And use its strong arms and legs. To propel itself through the water. And while Bandit was still in Morocco, Brandy was finally making progress with the Girls.
It took her a while to convince the Girls to play with her. But after a while, Bandit suggested to Brandy, To play statues with the kids. They instantly agreed, since they had nothing else better to do. Every time they played, Brandy would be the first to lose. And the girls would giggle at her, But she didn't mind at least they were having fun.
Bluey had apologized for the way she was acting to Chloe. Luckily the Dalmation forgave her, And they went back to being best friends. Bluey even started to play with Mackenzie more, They both shared their trauma together as a form of coping. Bingo was also starting to get better, Her wound healed in two weeks. They were gonna take out the stitches next week, And she got a lot of positive attention from her classmates.
Some of them thought that a wild animal had attacked her. And that Bingo had fought it off all by herself, What they didn't know was that the wild animal was her. But even then, Bingo just went with it. And she even started to play with Lila. Everything is starting to get better, But will it last forever?
