Snowed
Chapter 1: Christmas Eve
It was December 24.
Yes, it was Christmas Eve.
The wonderful Holiday has come to Amity Park once again and everyone was getting into the spirit of things. The snow has fallen, homes were adorn with beautiful lights and decorations, the smell of cakes and treats were in the air and everyone was getting into the spirit of things.
Children, teens and adults were happy as they participated in the Holiday by either participating in caroling, snow ball fights and getting ready for Christmas day.
Including a certain pair of lovebirds, who were currently at the mall.
"Merry Christmas! Happy Holidays!..."Sam said, being uncharacteristically cheerful as she waved to various mall patrons.
She then approached her friends, smiling widely.
"Hey guys, Merry Christmas..."The goth girl said, still smiling.
Star blinked.
"What's gotten into you? Did you see Paulina getting a lump of coal or something?..."She asked.
"What? No. I'm just feeling happy..."Sam said, surprising the blonde.
Star then turned to her boyfriend for explanations.
"Sam, for reasons that I still don't understand, is always upbeat and chipper for Christmas..."He said, still not getting how his gloomy friend always does a 180 this time of year.
"Hey, just because I don't celebrate this Holiday doesn't mean that I don't love it. Even I can't be doom and gloom all the time..."The goth girl said, still smiling.
"So, the rumors of Sam being unbelievably chipper during the Holidays is true..."Star thought, as she decided to say nothing.
She then changed the topic, and noticed the absence of someone in their group.
"Where's Tucker?..."The blonde girl asked.
"Probably trying to find some girl under the mistletoe like he does every year..."Danny said.
Before Star could say anything, they heard a slapping sound and a loud yelp. They turned around and saw Tucker clenching his face while a girl, Ashley, walked away in anger.
They also saw that he was wearing his mistletoe hat too.
"As if on cue..."Danny muttered as his male friend approached them, looking bitter.
"I don't understand why it doesn't work. Usually when two people are under the mistletoe, they should kiss..."Tucker complained.
"Most guys don't attach the mistletoe to their head to scam random girls into a kiss..."Star said, not impressed. "You do realize that "good will" and "the spirit of Christmas" has it's limits right..."She said, frowning.
"I'm learning that now..."Tucker said, still feeling that slap on his face.
"Still, you'd think that at least one girl would be open to it..."He muttered, as he looked at his hat.
Danny and Sam both rolled their eyes.
"Just throw that stupid thing away before some girl calls the cops. I don't want to have to visit you at the police station this Christmas..."Sam said, looking irritated.
"Me either..."Danny said, since he had enough problems to deal with as it is.
Tucker sulked, but knew that his mistletoe-hat isn't working and sighed.
"Fine…" Tucker went before taking it off, throwing it away and putting his regular hat on.
"HEY!..." A gruff man shouted.
Tucker turns his head, to his horror, he missed the trash can and knocked a man's hot cocoa all over himself. A tall guy with muscles and a really angry look on his face.
The techno geek gulped, realizing that he's in trouble.
"Later…" He said before running away before the guy got to him.
"Shouldn't we help him?..."Star asked.
"He'll be fine. He'll realize he's not being followed soon enough..."Sam said, as the guy walked away to the restroom to clean himself off.
Once that was done, the goth girl of the group then checked the time and sighed.
"I better head to the supermarket before they close and make sure that there's soy and tofu left for dinner..." Sam said.
"You're going grocery shopping?..." Star asked. surprised.
"Yeah, the Skulk & Lurk don't exactly have a long list of stuff to eat..." Sam explained. "I love the Holidays, but I'm still a vegetarian and I'm not eating meat ever, no matter what my parents say..."She said, since she is willing to be cheery but she won't bend her ideals as a vegetarian.
As Sam left to go make her purchases, that left Star alone with her man. The blonde girl got closer to him and smiled.
Can you blame her? It's her favorite time of the year and she is spending it with her favorite guy too.
"Can you believe it, Boo? Our first Christmas together as a couple? I'm so happy..."Star said as she wrapped her arms around him.
"I'm glad that you're happy..."Danny said, trying to be cheerful.
While he adopts a small smile, inside was a different story.
"This is my first Christmas with Star. I can't act like a grinch...not after what happened last year. I gotta try and make this special..."He thought. "At least I'm sure she'll like her gift..."He thought.
His girlfriend noticed his silence and got curious.
"All okay?..." Star asked, snapping her man out of it.
"S-sure..."Danny said, stammering slightly but he tried to play it cool.
The blonde girl noticed this reaction and raised a brow.
"Really?..."She asked, and he nodded.
"Yes, really. I'm fine, Star..."Danny said, forcing a smile as he wanted to change the subject.
Star wasn't fully convinced, but the ghost boy didn't want to talk about it right now as he tried to talk about other things.
"So...how is your family doing for Christmas?..."Danny asked, wanting to change the subject.
Star sighed.
"Well, I got good news and bad news..."She said, looking bitter about something.
"What's the bad news?..."Danny asked, noticing the change in her attitude.
His lady love sighed again before she explained everything to him.
"Usually, my mom and the vermin she calls her husband and step-daughter usually take a trip for Christmas and go to some tropical place to spend the Holidays like Cancun, Tahiti or Costa Rica..."Star said. "However, since my Mom moved here and kept insisting that she wants to spend Christmas as a FAMILY, they are ALL staying here for Christmas..."She said bitterly.
"Wait...you mean..."Danny paused and Star nodded.
"Yeah, Jean Luc and Colette are gonna stay in Amity Park for the Holidays and the only person more miserable than me about that is them..."She complained. "I mean...I know that Mom wants to try and be there and I love the idea of spending the Holiday with Pierre, since this is the first Christmas we'd be spending together as actual siblings..."Star said, truly torn.
She loves her little half brother with all her heart, she just hates the man whom her mother married and his rotten daughter.
"You gotta be kidding me?!..."Danny complained, hating that they missed a chance of getting rid of those creeps for a while.
"Believe me, I wish I was..."Star muttered, crossing her arms.
"Why can't your Mom and Pierre just stay here in Amity Park and Jean-Puke and the abominable snow girl can go away?..."Danny asked, not liking this.
"That's what I said, but Mom still loves them and wants to spend the Holiday as a family, so no matter what, they are staying...unfortunately..."Star muttered.
"Even worse, since we're technically "family", I had to get them a gift too..."She muttered.
"For real?..."Danny asked.
"Yes, unfortunately, but don't worry...I just got them both some gift cards since I didn't want to waste any time I could spend doing literally anything else, like getting my teeth pulled..."She said. "The only ones I got a REAL gift for were for Pierre and even my Mom..."Star said, gesturing to her bag.
"If it were up to me, those creep would just get coal..."She said, still expressing hate for her step father and step sister, even at this time of year.
Danny sighed, knowing that they were stuck ups who were stuck in a country they hated.
"Well, I guess we'll just try and avoid them like we always do..."He said.
"And your dad?..."Danny asked.
Star smiled.
"He managed to finish up his case at the capital early and he's already on a flight back home..."She said, looking happy.
"That's great to hear..."Danny said.
"Yeah, I was really worried that he was gonna be stuck in another state again..."Star said, looking sad about something as she recalled an old memory.
"Star?..."Danny asked, and his girlfriend snapped out of it.
"Huh? Oh...anyway, I talked with Dad about half an hour ago. He's already on the plane and should be back home by tonight. I really can't wait..."Star said, happy to spend the Holiday with her father.
"I'm relieved..."Danny said, knowing that Mr. Strong had been out of town for almost a week and Star had been home alone with Georgia, and she clearly missed him.
He knew that the man, being the high ranking super lawyer that he is, gets called to represent a lot of important people and he is still a busy man and often goes out of state to represent clients.
That always put quite a strain on Star and she admitted she had been worried he would miss out on Christmas with her dad, but thankfully, that's not happening.
"At least her holiday is cheery..."He thought as they walked together.
"And you got his gift ready?..."He asked, wanting to talk about more positive stuff before the usual Holiday chaos happens around him.
"I really hope that my dad likes the gift that I got him. I had to save my allowance and the online bidding was a hassle but I managed to get it in time..."Star said, smiling widely.
"You know that he'll love it. It definitely is something that your dad will love..."Danny said, having been with her when she got that gift for her dad.
He also got something too for Mr. Strong and even Mrs. Bevier, not that they knew that yet but he wanted it to be a surprise.
"They'll love it..."He thought as he and his girlfriend kept talking about gifts.
"I got Pierre a present too. Something not worth over $100 as to not spoil him..."Star said, smiling as she thought of her baby brother.
"What did you get him?..."Danny asked, while Star smiled wider as she talked about it.
"It's an adorable little teddy-bear that's dressed as Santa. It's so cute that I just had to get it for him..."Star said. "That and a bunch of other toys and plushies I could stuff in a short amount of time..."She said, grinning more as she did so.
Her boyfriend sent her a look, and she shrugged, which made her look cuter to him.
"Hey, I might hate his dad but he's still my adorable little brother and nothing is too good for him. Provided it doesn't spoil him, of course..."Star said, making it clear that she wanted to dote on her little sibling.
"Glad to hear that, I hope he likes my gift for him too..."Danny said and Star smiled.
"Aw, Boo...you didn't have to..."She said.
"Hey, he's your little brother and Pierre is a good kid. It's not his fault that he has a lousy dad. Plus, he is kind of cute..."Danny chuckled.
"Aw, you're so sweet..."Star said as she placed a kiss on his cheek.
"So, what you get him?..."She asked, wanting to know.
"I saw a toy rocket on sale, so I got him that..."Danny said. "I plan on dropping it off when I see him Christmas morning..."He said.
"You're so good with him, Danny-Boo. No wonder Pierre already looks up to you..."Star said as she placed a kiss on his lips.
Danny grinned and enjoyed the feeling.
"Well, like you said, sweet..."He said, chuckling a bit.
His girlfriend smiled and cuddled closer.
"Speaking of adorable little kids, any news from Danielle?..."Star asked.
"She's been doing great the last time I talked to her on the PDA..."Danny said.
"That's good. I can't wait to see the look on her face when she gets all the presents we sent her..."Star said, looking excited. "You sure that they'll make it on time?..."She asked.
"Totally, Sam already sent them discreetly a while back. They should arrive there first thing in the morning..."He said.
"That's good. I do wish that we could go visit her in person, though..."Star said.
"You know that it takes hours to get to and from where her place is and our families would notice. Though maybe I can ask Frostbite to lend the infi-map just for a day to see her..."Danny said.
"I hope so. It'd be a blast..."Star said.
"I wonder how she's doing right now..."Star said.
"Oh, you know Danielle. She and Wulf are probably messing around and having fun..."Danny said with a chuckle, as he thought about his little cousin/clone and their mutual friends.
Meanwhile
At Lake Eerie
The place was snowy and the lake was frozen due to the winter weather.
A certain little ghost girl and her friend/neighbor were having fun in the snow and with no one around to interrupt them.
"Snow angel!..."Wulf said as he laid on the snowy ground and began to make one.
Once he was done, he saw his wolf-ish shape on the ground on the ground, which hardly resembled an angel right now.
"Aw..."He mumbled.
"Is that an angel or a spot a zombie dug out?..." Danielle asked, wearing the new snow suit that Danny and Star had sent her a while back as soon as the temperature started to get cold.
Wulf mumbled, not liking that his attempts never come out right. He then felt a snow ball hit from from behind, which got his attention.
"Hey!..."He said, while Dani just stood there, whistling innocently.
"I didn't see nothin'..." She went, but her friend and neighbor wasn't fooled.
"Preparu por reprezalio!..." Wulf went, getting a large amount of snow in his hand.
"Uh oh..." Danielle went before morphing and flying away.
However, Wulf hit her square on with the snow before she could get away. The end result was Dani on the ground, covered from head to toe in the white snow.
There was a moment of silence, before she got out and had a serious look on her face.
"This means war..."She said.
"Indeed..."Wulf said in his heavy accent.
They both grinned and sent competitive looks to each other as they grabbed as much snow as they could to use as ammo.
From there, a snowball fight began.
Back in Amity Park
Danny and Star got some hot chocolate from a nearby vendor and they kept talking about gifts.
"So...I got presents for you, my parents, Pierre, Georgia, Valerie, Sam and Tucker, Dani and Wulf, I also even sent Cujo a steak and some bacon. I also got something for your parents and sister as well. I hope that they like it..."Star said, smiling cutely at him.
"Looks like you got pretty much everyone covered..."Her boyfriend said, chuckling.
"And you?..."Star asked.
"I also got my presents for you, your little brother, my family, Sam and Tuck, Dani and Wulf and Val too. I even got a little something for your folks too..."Danny said, having only gotten gifts for the people who mattered to him.
None for people he wanted nothing to do with, especially Colette Bevier, who has become even more keen to claim him as her boyfriend and future husband lately, something the ghost boy rejected each and every time.
"That's good to hear..."Star said, before she got coy with her man.
"So...what are you getting ME for Christmas this year?..."The blonde girl asked, fluttering her eyelashes at her.
Danny, however, pulled back.
"Sorry, Beautiful but you are gonna have to wait until Christmas morning..."He said.
Star pouted.
"Aw, come on Boo...tell me..."She tried, but he shook his head.
"Nope, sorry. It's a tradition and we need to respect it. I do, at least..."Danny said, being tight lipped about it.
Star frowned, but giggled as she got an idea.
"Can I at least have a little hint?..."She asked, trying to look cute.
"It's in a wrapped package and you'll be getting it on Christmas morning..."Danny said, not budging.
"What if I can arrange for me to be under the mistletoe...would you give me a better hint?..."Star asked in a coy manner.
"Sorry, not happening...besides, we don't NEED the mistletoe right now..."Danny teased.
Star frowned, that he is not budging one bit.
"Oh, you're no fun, Boo!..."She said, arms crossed.
"But you love me anyway..."Danny said in a cheeky manner.
"I do, but I'm not wrong about what I just said..."Star said, pouting.
After a moment, the love birds burst into laughter, though Star still wanted to try.
"Seriously, you're not gonna tell me?..."Star asked, and her boyfriend shook his head.
"Sorry, Starlight. I promised after what happened last Christmas, I'd try and be more cheerful and give this Holiday another shot. I am doing that by respecting tradition too..."Danny said. "All I can say, is that I know that you'll love it..."He said, smiling at her.
Star smiled back and accepted that for now.
"Good, I know you'll love my gift for you too..."She said.
"I believe you..."He said, grinning.
The two were about to share a kiss, but Star noticed something and gasped.
"Get down!..."Star said as she dragged Danny and soon hide behind a decorative reindeer statue.
"What's wrong?..."Danny asked, as they hid.
"I caught our first sighting of the abominable snow girl..."Star said.
"You mean..."Danny paused in dread and soon a shrill voice confirmed it.
"Danny, Mon Amore...where are you? I saw you, my love..."Colette said, dressed in a very expensive and revealing Holiday dress that wasn't very appropriate for the weather or the age of the person who was wearing it.
"Isn't she freezing her butt off in that thing?..."Danny whispered to Star.
"No worries, all the hot air inside her is probably keeping her warm..."Star snarked as they remained hidden while the spoiled brat continued her man hunt.
"Danny? Darling? I know that I heard that you were just here...I have a special surprise for you..."Colette said as she clearly had mistletoe in her hand.
"And with that, I found the one tradition I don't mind BREAKING!..."Danny said.
"Let's get out of here before you have to..."Star said.
Danny nodded as he took her by the hand and soon became invisible and phased them out of here before Colette the abominable had a chance to find them and spoil their holiday.
A few moments later
Danny and Star managed to both escape the mall and Colette before she could darken their day.
"She doesn't give up..."Star muttered.
"Unfortunately. I can't believe that she'd try that again..."Danny said, angry.
"I do, she's too stupid to stop..."Star muttered.
"You're not wrong..."Danny said, sighing in irritation.
Since the Holidays came around, Colette has tried numerous times to catch him under the mistletoe at school and every chance they crossed paths. Each time, he barely managed to escape her and the last time, it resulted in a fight between her and Star, which his lady love won, of course.
"It's only because it's Christmas that I refrained from knocking her teeth out, but I make no promises come December 26th!..."Star said, looking ticked as she even hit her fist into her other palm.
Danny grinned and Star noticed.
"What?..."She asked.
"Nothing, but you're so beautiful when you threaten people we mutually despise with violence..."He said in a dreamy fashion.
Star heard this and cheered up.
"Aw, Danny-Boo. You're so sweet..."Star said as they shared a kiss together, not needing a mistletoe to do so.
"So far, best Christmas ever but I can't get relaxed yet!..."Danny thought during the kiss.
Once done, the couple kept walking and holding hands, continuing their talk.
"So, with this being your first Christmas with a girlfriend, any plans?..."Star asked in a coy manner.
"Preferably avoid what usually happens..."He said, his smiling dropping a bit.
Star noticed and got concerned.
"What's that?..."She asked, while her man sighed.
"Remember how every Christmas my parents cause trouble for everyone?..."He asked.
"Yeah, but..."Star paused, unsure what to say now.
As they made it to Fenton Works, the couple soon heard shouting and the sounds of breaking things, along with a decorative Santa being thrown out the door.
"I ALREADY TOLD YOU A MILLION TIMES THAT SANTA CLAUS ISN'T REAL!..."Mrs. Fenton could he heard yelling from the inside.
"TAKE THAT BACK! HE'S REAL AND YOU KNOW IT!..."Jack yelled as well, and their son groaned.
"And it has started..."Danny said, looking bitter
Star was disturbed by what she just saw and recalled what it was Danny was hinting at.
"I heard about how crazy Danny's parents get during this Holiday but this is the first time I've seen it..."She thought, as she looked at the now destroyed decoration and her more shouting from the inside of the how.
"Danny-Boo...uh...your parents are fighting..."Star said.
Danny sighed.
"I know...I didn't want you to see it but Jazz says that if we stay together without you see how insane my parents are, it's called entrapment or something..."He said, looking exasperated right now.
"So... abridged version?..." Star asked, while her boyfriend tried to explain things as best as he could.
"Long story short...Dad still believes in Santa, Mom refuses to let people believe in him despite that she dedicated her life to hunting ghosts before ever even seeing one and I get the irony so no needs to ask about it. And every year it's the same... they harass mall Santas, they make idiots of themselves when buying trees... and every year I either get attacked by something or something ruins the dinner or sets our gifts on fire..."He said, while his girlfriend was stunned.
"Wow... for real?..."She asked.
"Yeah..." Danny sighed. "I know that doesn't justify being all grumpy but it's still annoying. Even worse, they love doing this..."He said, frowning.
"They love doing this?..."She repeated, hoping that she heard him wrong.
He just nodded and the blonde girl frowned harder now.
That sounds... messed up. Sorry Boo, but that's like me saying I celebrate the Holidays by throwing garbage at orphans! Is that how I celebrate? Sure. Is it right? No!..."Star said, knowing how messed up this is.
"Don't worry, I'll be fine..."Danny said with a forced smile.
Star still felt worried about it.
"Are you sure that, Danny? Maybe we should say something to your parents..."She said.
"It's fine Star. I can manage better..."Danny said. "Besides, it won't do much good..."He muttered, knowing that every time he complains.
Like in the past, his parents would feel guilt and apologize, promising to do better next year.
A promise that always seem to forget.
Star didn't believe him, she's known him long enough to pick up a potential lie. Before Star could say anything to him, they suddenly smelled smoke and could see flames inside Danny's house.
"THE TREE?!..."Jack screamed. "Get the fire extinguisher, Maddie!..."He yelled and there was soon sounds of a roaring fire.
Danny just stood there and looked disappointed but unsurprised.
"Uh...I should really walk you home...make sure that you get there safe. It does tend to get pretty chilly in this kind of weather..."Danny said, clearly not wanting to go home right now.
Star didn't say anything as her boyfriend lead her away from his house as some neighbors approached the house to complain and call the police.
Another usual Christmas for the Fentons.
Later
Danny soon brought Star to her house and decided to wait until the fire trucks leave his area. Georgia offered them a tray of gingerbread cookies and warm milk.
The couple began to eat and talk...namely about what happened earlier.
"I still think you should do something..." Star said.
Her boyfriend sighed in misery before speaking.
"Star, I tried telling them last year. True, we were all under Ghost Writer's spell, but it went right over their heads. They went back to it as soon as the spell was worn off..." He said.
"For real?..." Star asked, surprised.
"Yeah. My only saving grace is that it's also a truce for the Ghost Zone, so the ghosts aren't allowed to cause trouble..."He explained.
"So, no Ember coming after you with a mistletoe? Not the she needs one since you are off limits to her, but still?..." Star asked.
Danny nodded before noticing it was still snowing.
"Yeah, home isn't fun but I know I can't hate the Holiday just because my parents have weird traditions..."He said, before turning to her. "Besides, at least this year I have a reason to be cheerful..."He said as he held her hand, making it clear what he's talking about.
Star smiled at that, but still felt pity for him but Danny didn't want to be pitied.
Seeing that it was late and it was still Christmas eve and he is expected to be with his parents, the ghost boy sighed.
"I'd better get home, I'll see you tomorrow Starlight. I really can't wait for our first Christmas together..."Danny said as he planted a kiss on her forehead.
"Okay..." She said, watching him go.
He waved to her, she waved back, albeit weakly as she let everything he's told her sink in. Star watched her boyfriend leave and felt sorry for him.
"Poor Danny-Boo. He had terrible holidays..."She thought in worry, hating seeing him go through something like this.
"He didn't deserve this. He's too nice a guy for it..."She thought, wishing that she could help.
Danny is a wonderful guy but it's clear that he is not enjoying the Holiday like a person should. He was plastering a grin and trying to be merry despite it clearly wasn't genuine.
Star frowned as she recalled what she saw at his house.
How Danny's parents clearly didn't seem to notice their children's misery as they kept arguing and ruining the holiday for everyone around them. For two people who want their kids to have good heads on their shoulders, they do a poor job of it in December.
"I can't believe my possible future in-laws don't seem to get how much trouble they are causing for everyone, especially for Danny..."Star thought, sighing in disappointment.
In the past, she used to avoid the Fentons like most of Amity Park due to their lousy reputation of causing trouble during the holidays. However, things are different now as she was now their son's girlfriend and her top priority is making sure that her man is happy.
"Danny says he can handle it...but if his parents cause trouble again, I may have to step in..."She thought, hating that they were messing their children's holiday without even realizing it.
She knew that she liked Danny's parents and they were nice people, but sometimes they don't seem to understand that their actions can be damaging to other people or that they are hurting others without realizing it.
And their son was the victim of this pointless fight.
"I have to at least give them a chance to come around...but Danny and Jazz shouldn't have to go through that kind of mess..."Star muttered as she wondered what to do to make things better for them.
As she tried to brainstorm, her housekeeper called out to her.
"Star, come on. I baked some pie and the gingerbread house is ready..."Georgia said from the kitchen.
Star perked up upon hearing that desert was done. As she ate the slice she was given, her mind was still on her boyfriend.
"Regardless of what happens tomorrow, Danny is MY boyfriend and I am going to make sure that this is the best Christmas ever for him!..."She thought, already having many things planned for her beloved boyfriend.
She also plans to chase away his grinchy-side and make him enjoy the holidays...even if it means getting him away from his parent's petty fight.
