Chapter 6: Looney Lovegood

Yet again, I have forgotten about the story, honestly. I'll try to get back in routine but it's just so hard to focus on the story when there are 10000000000 other things I need to do. I apologize for any inconvenience. This chapter is about the bullying of Luna Lovegood. Luna literally stood up for Harry a zillion times but Harry never had the nerve to stand up to people bullying Luna. Toxic relationship if you ask me. Anyway, lets start!

Luna Lovegood entered the bright doors to the Yule Ball wearing a bright pink, canary yellow, and vibrant indigo striped dress that ended at her feet, which were bare, as she wasn't wearing any shoes. Her hair was in weird knots done up in a hangy kind of bun. She was wearing her dirigible plum earrings and a tattered brown corkscrew necklace. She was wearing tinted blue and pink glasses.

Seamus nudged Harry in the ribs,

"Look at batty Looney Lovegood" he said a snicker erupting from his mouth.

"Oh my God, what was she thinking wearing something like that" Parvati said smirking

Similar conversations were being held all around the room and snickers filled the room. Luna wasn't dumb, she could see they were all laughing at her. The little characteristic smile at the edge of her lips drooped ever so slightly, she bowed her head hoping the comments would stop soon.

"What kind of weirdo would wear earrings that looks like an onion?" Dean said very loudly.

A new layer of laughter spread the room at that comment. Harry looked at Luna, her eyes seemed glittery as if she was trying not to cry, her hands were desperately trying to cover up her earings and her posture was shrinked up like a small child when someone pushed them over.

Harry looked at Ron expecting to see similar outrage at the bullying, but Ron was laughing with the rest of them, glancing at Luna as if she was garbage.

"And look at the dress" Ron said chortling.

Harry had had enough, he stood up, making sure that on his way to Luna he accidently on purpose shoved all the people who had made comment, he reached her and said very loudly,

"Well I think you look stunning Luna, and anyone who made their opinion otherwise is just jealous of you and trying to get attention" he pulled Luna out of the room.

"Thanks Harry, you really didn't have to do that, I probably do look bad" Luna said quietly.

"No you look fab, but I must ask you, aren't you cold? You're barefoot" he asked Luna

"Oh bare feet scare snarlanctules away" she said dreamily.

Harry let out a laugh he didn't ask what a 'snarlanctule' is, he was just laughing at how very Luna-ish that sentence was.

"They Probably have started dancing by now so wanna go back?" Harry asked hearing the music from the hall.

"I don't have a date to the Yule Ball so I'll just look sad if I dance alone" Luna said under her breath.

"I don't want to be Parvati's date after her behaviour, I'll dance with you" Harry said smiling at her.

He lead her back into the great hall and pointedly avoided eye contact with Ron who was stairing wide eyes at the odd pair. The music was light and jazzy and very easy to dance to. Luna danced weirdly, her legs, arms, and heads flairing out every few seconds, Harry tried to adjust to the style and found himself enjoying himself.

"Why don't you stand up to the bullies?" Harry asked while flairing his legs in sync with Luna.

"I find that if I appear to ignore them them stop quicker" Luna said in a slightly sad tone

Harry sighed, Luna really deserved better treatment.

"I'll try to talk to the others and get them not to taunt you" he said

"You can try" Luna said wearily.

"I will do my best" Harry promised her.
