Courtney's POV

Sunday

Park

12:00pm

Normally I would be at home going over my notes and read the next chapters for school but after the unexpected visit from my dad I couldn't focus on anything. I've been off my routine since.

My mind was scrambled so much that I dropped off Serenity late twice, I reviewed the incorrect information for my classes and I was avoiding everyone including Duncan that he had to drop by to check on me.

I was becoming a mess again worse then when Duncan was away.

So imagine to my surprise when this morning I see a text from him saying " Be ready before 12 we're going out today " it surprised me at first but before I could reply another message popped up saying " and no saying you can't ".

I'll admit Duncan's second message put a smile on my face and I did what he asked, I got myself and Serenity ready.

Thankfully the snow was melting and it wasn't as cold but I made sure we wore warm clothing.

Once Duncan arrived to pick us up he said were going to the park and we're meeting the others there, meaning this was a group outing. Upon arriving at the park just arriving was Trent and Gwen with Louis. Including Bridgette, Geoff and DJ.

The kids instantly got excited when they saw the park and made a run for it including Geoff making a run for the Geo Dome Climber making everyone laugh. Duncan, Trent and DJ went to keep an eye on the kids ( including Geoff ) leaving myself, Gwen and Bridgette to chill at an outdoor table. Bridgette brought a picnic basket with snacks along with a thermos of hot chocolate. Taking a seat on the bench so that I can watch Serenity play I sigh heavily.

Feeling a tap on my shoulder I turn to see a steaming cup being offered to me " thank you " I said taking the warm cup " no problem I thought something warm was necessary " explains Bridgette smiling pouring hot chocolate into another cup " good idea " said Gwen also getting a cup.

" I know I've sent out the restraining order on my parents for that reason " I answered turning my gaze to the slide to see the kids having fun " like I said to him they will never come near us " I add watching Serenity go down the slide.

Smiling at the scene in front of us all I could think of was Serenity and how I only want her to have a happy childhood without ever having to grow up in a bad environment.

I'll admit dad was right I was 18 with no plan when I moved out of the house but I had to do what I needed to keep my baby away from what I was going through it hurt so much that they didn't want to hold Serenity. Especially when dad didn't even acknowledge her as family that was my breaking point. Next thing I knew I called Geoff and Bridgette to help me get out of my parents house with only clothes for myself and Serenity, the stroller and bassinet as we left my dad shouted to never come back.

Feeling a bit emotional hearing what I was just told I knew they were right and it's just not only there support I had but also I had a wonderful man in my life who stood up against my dad along with saying that he would always be there. My trust in Duncan has definitely grown and he's proved so much.

Putting my cup on the table I put an arm around each of them " thank you guys " I says " your welcome but make sure to thank that guy over there " says Gwen pointing at Duncan who currently was going down the slide with Serenity followed by the guys laughing.

Raising an eyebrow I mentally knew how he would be thanked.

Duncan's POV

Okay I haven't been on a slide since I was a kid but as a request from my daughter I'll do anything.

" Hey guys can I get a little help " calls Geoff making us all look to see him stuck in the geo dome climber. " asks DJ raising an eyebrow while myself and Trent tried not to laugh " no clue but you know us guys " I answered as we go over to help our friend.

10 Minutes Later

We managed to get Geoff out of his current position imagine to our surprise he thought he could slide right through but was unable to since the triangles were small enough for kids and not adults.

Duncan's POV

1 Hour Later

I was resting up against the bed headboard with Courtney resting her head on my shoulder currently reading a chapter from a text book.
