Chapter 18: The Ring of Chaos + DLC: The Real Threat

No music playing yet

Three years later, Pit slowly woke up and was confused about what happened earlier. "Uh... Where am I?" he groaned. "Lady Palutena? Can you hear me?" No answer. Pit started to think about what happened earlier. "The last thing I remember is defeating the Aurum. But then..." He then noticed something that came into his view. "Hey, what's that?" he wondered. "Is it...a ring?" He continued to think about what happened. "My head is all kinds of foggy right now..." he continued. "And why is the name Chaos Kin stuck in my brain?" Suddenly, he felt a hand pick up the ring. "Huh?!" he gasped. "Whoa, whoa—what's happening?!" The hand belonged to a little girl who slowly observed it. "Oh. What a cute little ring," she said. "I wonder what it was doing here." Then Pit started to realize something. "Either I'm crazy or... I'M THE RING!" he exclaimed. "I wonder if this ring would fit me," said the girl. "I can't just sit around. I have to try to do SOMETHING," Pit continued. The girl then putted the ring on her finger. "Hey! It does fit!" she exclaimed. "OK... Move!" said Pit. Suddenly, he was now fully in control of the girl's movements.

Music playing: Little Girl's Theme

"She's moving! I'm... I'm moving her!" Pit exclaimed as he began to move forward in the girl's body. "So...I can control anyone who wears this ring? I hope she doesn't mind if I borrow her feet for just a little bit. I have to find out what happened. This isn't easy... It feels like I'm wearing a suit of armor. That's too small." Pit/The girl continued onwards in order to figure out what was going on. Suddenly, Pit saw centurions flying down into the Decimated Town. "Hey! Are those centurions?" he wondered. "That town looks like it's in trouble. Lady Palutena must have sent troops in to help. I'd better head there too and see if there's anything I can do. I hate to put this little girl in danger, but other people in the town might need help." Pit continued onwards to see if he can find any more information about what is going on. But then, he accidentally tripped. "Oof!" he groaned, and then the ring fell out of the girl's finger. The girl suddenly regained her balance and senses. "Huh? What happened?" she wondered. "Oh no no no no no no!" Pit exclaimed in panic as the ring rolled through the ground. The girl saw the ring again. "I remember finding that ring and then everything went dark," she said. "I wonder what happened." She went to pick up the ring again until a dog found it too. He began to sniff it. "Hey boy," said the girl. "Do you know anything about that ring?" The dog responded by grabbing the ring in his mouth, allowing Pit to take control over him this time.

Music stops and switches to: Dog's Theme

"I...guess I'm a dog now," said Pit as he began to move forward in the dog's body. "This is getting weirder and weirder... But where'd the little girl go? Hmm. She must have run off. Anyway, on to the town! I gotta be careful not to drop the ring. So that means no more mouth breathing. And no crazy barking. And no eating delicious garbage off the ground... Not that I would, of course." But what Pit didn't know was that the girl was following the dog. "Huh? Where is he going?" she wondered. "I better follow him to see why our Goddess of Light is turning against us." Pit/The dog and the girl continued onwards to figure out what is going on. Just then, they saw Pit's Body, who was possessed by Lucifer, attacking from up above. "Hey... Is that...?" the girl gasped. "Hey! That looks like...like me!" Pit exclaimed. "Oh, man—this can't be happening. Who am I attacking? And who's controlling ME? Everything's gone off the rails! Now what am I supposed to do? Take myself down? I guess I don't have a choice!" The two of them continued onwards to find Pit's Body/Lucifer and stop this madness from continuing. Although, Pit is secretly working with his brother by pretending to not remember all that had happened earlier. Along the way, they encountered more and more centurions. But to their surprise, they didn't do anything to attack them. "I-I don't know we should do anything," one of them said. "I have a bad feeling that something is clearly wrong with our Captain and leader." "I know, but we have no other choice," said another one. "Let us protect the humans as much as possible before HE comes back. Then, we'll try to figure out what happened to our Captain." "R-Right," replied the first one. "Let's get back to work." Meanwhile, Pit/the dog and the girl continued onwards to find Lucifer. "Good thing the centurions are on patrol," said Pit. "This square's looking rough. Heh heh... Um...right. Anyway." "Oh... I sure hope that things will get better once the angel returns to normal," said the girl, worried about the whole chaos. "I really want to help him. WE want to help him." Then Pit stopped and smelled something up ahead. "What is it, boy?" asked the girl. "Hey, something smells really good," said Pit. "This new sniffer is really doing its job. Is that garbage? Beef garbage? Man, I am SO hungry! Why am I craving garbage? Oh no no no! Stop drooling, stop drooling! The slobber's getting the ring all wet! Ugh, I'm grossing myself out!" They continued onwards slowly as they passed through more centurions. "I can't believe things are going horribly wrong here!" said one of them. "I know, and we're going to make it worse since he's ordering us to do this," said the other one. "Besides, if we don't do anything as he told us, he'll have us executed. This is much worse than what he did to us all those years ago." "You do have a point," said the first one. "But still! We need to be careful!" Pit/The dog and the girl then went through a hole and up some stairs through another damaged building. The girl was still curious about what is going on around the Decimated Town. "I sure hope those centurions don't do anything to us," she wondered. "I know for a fact that the angel NEVER hurts us humans. Something is very wrong." "I can probably move forward if I can get over those narrow walkways," said Pit. "Good thing I'm a dog. I mean, it's not exactly good, but at least I'm small." They continued onwards carefully through the dangerous damaged building and exited through another hole. Then they saw someone very familiar. "Magnus?!" Pit gasped. "Hey! It's the guy who saved us with the angel back at that castle!" the girl exclaimed. "Wait! Is he fighting the centurions?!" "But why's he fighting the centurions?!" Pit wondered in shock. "Mr. Muscle Man! Wait a minute!" the girl called out, but Magnus was too busy fighting the centurions to notice her voice. "Magnus! Over here!' Pit called out, too, but Magnus cannot hear Pit because he couldn't talk as a dog. "Aw... He can't hear me," Pit groaned. They then noticed that Magnus was walking away. "Wait! Don't go!" Pit yelped. "You need to tell me what's going on!" He rushed to Magnus and then hopped on his back. "Hey! Hey! How's it going?" he asked to the familiar human. Magnus couldn't seem to know what the dog was even trying to tell him. "Listen, you gotta take this ring," said Pit, who was using the dog's mouth to give Magnus the ring. "Go on! Take it!" Magnus took the ring away from the dog, allowing him to regain his senses. The dog rushed back to the girl. He barked happily to see her again and licked her face quickly. "I'm glad to see that you're okay!" she replied while giggling. "But what happened? You suddenly followed that human very quickly." The dog ruffed and tilted his head in confusion. Magnus slowly began to observe the ring. "Yes! Great! Now put it on your finger!" said Pit. But Magnus still slowly observed the ring while the girl and dog watched what was going on. "Now that I think about it, did you notice that everything went dark when you picked up the ring with your mouth?" the girl asked the dog. The dog nodded. "Hmm... I wonder if it's him..." the girl wondered. "Come on! Put it on! Put it on!" Pit begged. But then Magnus threw the ring away. "WHAT ARE YOU DOING?!" Pit exclaimed in fear and panic. "No, no, no, no! Pick it back up!" Magnus couldn't hear him and began to walk away. "Where are you going? Don't go! Don't go! Put the ring on! You can always pawn it!" Pit begged even more. "It's a little slobbery, but I'm sure it's worth a lot. Come on, don't make me beg! PLEASE take the ring!" That's when the girl decided to help. He ran towards the ring, picked it up, and rushed to Magnus. She then tugged on his arm. "Um... Mister...?" she asked. "What do you want, kid?" Magnus asked. "In case if you couldn't tell, I'm on a tight schedule here." "S-Sorry, but you really need to put on this ring," the girl responded and pulled her hand out to show it. "Go on! Something magical might happen." Magnus thought for a moment before shrugging. "Fine," he sighed. "I guess it wouldn't hurt to put it on." He took the ring from the girl's hand and put it on his finger. Suddenly, Pit began to take control over him. "Yes! Thank YOU! Woo-hoo!" Pit exclaimed in relief. "What's that shrill little voice?" he wondered before suddenly realizing who it was coming from. "...Wait, are you that angel?" Pit nodded while controlling Magnus' body.

Music stops and switches to: Magnus' Theme

"It worked!" the girl exclaimed. "Now he can help us!" The dog barked in agreement. "Neat! We can talk to each other," said Pit. "First you take over my body, and now I have to listen to your yapping? Great." Magnus groaned. "Don't worry—I'll be super extra careful with your body," Pit responded. "Right. No offense, but why exactly are you in MY body instead of your own?" Magnus questioned. "I don't know!" Pit answered. "Seems like only yesterday when you and I were fighting together." This shocked Magnus after hearing what his recent angel ally just said. "Yesterday?!" he exclaimed. "Try THREE YEARS, buddy." This left Pit shocked about what he heard. "WHAT?! Three years? That's impossible!" he exclaimed, taken aback about how long it has been. "You have to tell me what's going on!" Magnus tried to explain about the whole situation. "How's this for starters?" he started. "You've become the enemy of all mankind." Pit doesn't seem to believe in Magnus about his explanation. "What?! Stop messing with me," he responded in disbelief. "What's going on with him?" the girl asked the dog. The dog barked in response, confused about the situation. "So this IS news to you, said Magnus. Then he continued the explanation about what was going on. "Remember the war between the Forces of Nature, Underworld, and Palutena's army? Just when it seemed like the war was over, everyone in Palutena's army vanished." Pit was confused about that. "Vanished?! Where'd we go?!" he asked. "Beats me," said Magnus before he continued. "But your absence let the Underworld keep attacking us humans. Then you all reappeared. But instead of helping us, you started going after us too! So now we humans have the Underworld and Palutena's army trying to wipe us out! No one knows what happened. Did your goddess just lose her mind?" "Don't ask me. I've been a ring," Pit responded. "But I know I have to do something. There must be some way we can reason with her." "Well, maybe YOU can," said Magnus. "I'm not even sure if she's controlling her own army anymore." "OK, first things first. That guy attacking the town? That wasn't me," said Pit. "So your mind is here, but your body is over there destroying stuff?" said Magnus. "Isn't that convenient. Tell that to all the people your body just killed." "Look, I didn't exactly plan it this way," said Pit. "Whether you did or not, there's nothing I can do for you now," said Magnus. "You've got my body. So you're going to have to get rid of the other Pit. Ironically, that's why I was here in the first place." "Well, if that's our only option, I guess that's the plan!" Pit responded. "Careful with my body, though. I'm gonna need it later," said Magnus before pointing something out. "We also need to protect this kid and dog over here! Having them with us is a big risk!" "What?! They're following us?!" Pit asked in disbelief. "Sure looks like it," Magnus replied. "They're probably curious about what was going on as well. We just need to keep them safe so that we can tell them the truth once we bring your mind back to your body." "Got it! I sure hope we can protect them very well!" Pit affirmed. The girl and dog were indeed followed Pit/Magnus. "That muscular man sure does know how to take down bad guys!" said the girl. "But I can tell that there's something very wrong going on here." The dog barked in agreement. "I know, but we better be careful and not get in that big guy's way," the girl continued. "Let's stay close... b-but not too close." The trio then continued onwards while Pit took down more centurions, though since he was in Magnus' body, he was more reluctant to do so. "It just feels wrong going up against centurions," he said. "Pit, there are tons of them," Magnus replied. "Nobody's going to notice if a few go missing. And don't you forget that it's my hide on the line here. Not to mention that most of them might be going after our little companions. So we better protect them if they're going to hurt them." "You're right!" Pit agreed. However, there were a few centurions hiding away from the trio and noticed what Pit/Magnus was doing. "I have a feeling that Pit is going to find a way to help us," said one of them. "I hope so. I can't struggle myself to hurt all of those innocent humans," said another one. "That monster is corrupting his body and we have to find a way to stop him!" But while they were talking, Pit's Body/Lucifer appeared right behind them. They turned around in horror to see him. "U-Uh oh! Uh... H-Hey, C-Captain! W-We didn't think you would-" started the first centurion, but before he could continue, Lucifer wasted no time and ruthlessly murdered them in cold blood. I cannot let them get nosy and know about my brother working with me, he thought. In the meantime, I must follow Icarus and his allies to prepare myself a surprise attack. And in the process, I have to eliminate the nosy soldiers who dare to defy me. He flew away to follow the trio. Meanwhile, the trio continued onwards and encountered Centurion Knights. "Those are Centurion Knights," said Pit. "You don't need to go in with guns blazing, you know," said Magnus "Try working your way through without getting noticed." Pit did so and got through the knights so that they didn't see them. But Lucifer was on their trail and found out that they didn't do anything to stop the trio. "C-Captain!" one of them said. "Listen we-" But before he could continue, Lucifer murdered them right on the spot with his weapon. This is what happens when you disobey my orders, soldiers, he thought. Then he saw innocent humans hiding from his cold stare. I would love to kill you right now, but I'm on a tight schedule, he continued in thought. Consider this as a warning! He then flew away from the humans to follow the trio. The humans ran away in fear about losing their lives because of the monster. Back to the trio, they entered a room where they encountered a Centurion Strongarm. "Aww, look at that cute little fella," said Magnus. "I liked it better when the Centurion Strongarms were on my side," said Pit. "They're basically all muscle. Even their brains are muscle." "Just like you, right, buddy?" Magnus asked the angel. "Hey! I'm strong where it counts!" the angel exclaimed. "Sure you are," sighed the human. They continued onwards with Pit/Magnus fighting the enemies, while the girl and dog followed them. "I sure hope he knows what he's doing," said the girl. "I really want to bring back the angel I know and love!" The dog barked in agreement. Pit/Magnus continued to take down more enemies with their companions following them. They soon encountered a Juggernaut. "Last I knew, Juggernauts were still in the design phase," said Pit. "Well, they look real enough now," Magnus replied. "We started developing them as a defensive measure after the Hewdraw attack," Pit continued. "I never thought they'd be used for evil..." "Just stay clear of those stones," Magnus warned. "One of those could wreck me." Pit/Magnus soon took it down impressing the girl and dog a lot more. "He sure is strong for a man!" exclaimed the girl, amazed. The dog barked in agreement, amazed as well. The trio then continued onwards while Pit/Magnus took down more enemies. Then they entered a room with more centurions waiting for them. "Look at this happy little family," said Magnus. "They won't be happy when I'm done with them! Hoo-ah!" exclaimed Pit while taking them out. "Is that supposed to sound like me?" Magnus questioned. "'Cause it doesn't." They soon took them down and proceeded. They continued onwards until they entered a room with a Crawler fighting the centurions. "That's a big one!" gasped the girl. The dog barked in agreement. "Oh, man!" Pit gasped. "Why are there so many enemies today?" Magnus questioned. "What, was MinionMart having a sale?" "Those centurions are fighting an Underworld Crawler," said Pit. "I guess this means Lady Palutena is still battling the Underworld Army." "So at the very least, Hades hasn't seized command of Palutena's army," said Magnus. "Then who does that leave?" Pit wondered in shock. "And where IS Lady Palutena anyway?" "I just want the angel to be back to normal," the girl sighed in worry. "We just can't let this chaos continue." The dog barked in both agreement and worry. Pit/Magnus soon took down the enemies and exited the room with the girl and dog following them. Just then, they found a Hot Spring and a Souflee. "Hey! There's a Souflee soaking in the Hot Spring!" Pit exclaimed. "You know what they say. If you chase two rabbits, they'll both escape," said Magnus. The trio decided to enter the Hot Spring. "Yeah, that's the stuff," Pit sighed in relaxation. "Hot springs don't usually heal humans," said Magnus. "You must be having an effect on me." "THIS is how you enjoy a hot spring!" Pit explained. "Step one: breathe deep. Step two: clear mind." "OK..." Magnus replied. "Step three: remove pants," Pit finished. "Wait—what? No, those are MY pants!" Magnus exclaimed. The girl and the dog were also enjoying the Hot Spring. "Wow. This really is relaxing!" said the girl. "I never knew Hot Springs would feel so good!" The dog barked and pant in agreement and relaxation. "Well at least our company loves these Hot Springs, too," said Magnus. "I guess they're just like me!" Pit agreed. After that little relaxation, the trio continued onwards. Pit/Magnus found a hidden area and entered it to reveal a Zodiac Chamber. They collected the Aries Armor and then exited to continue their mission. They went up a hill to find Devil Pit only for them to be ambushed by more centurions. Pit/Magnus wasted no time and took them down. "I think we're getting closer to the angel's body," said the girl. The dog nodded and they watched the angel/human take them down. After that, the continued onwards. "We should be getting close," said Magnus. "Are you ready?" They then drank another Drink of the Gods and entered the arena, while the girl and dog hid behind the entrance for safety.

Music stops and switches to: Boss Fight 1

Pit/Magnus soon saw Pit's Body coming down in the arena with the Darkness Bow equipped. Devil Pit in Pit's Body stared coldly at his enemies. "Hey! That's MY body!" Pit exclaimed. "We've got to take him down...WITHOUT killing him," said Magnus. The girl and the dog quickly peeked to see the battle about to begin. "It really is the angel!" the girl exclaimed. "I hope the human can turn him back to normal." The dog nodded and whimpered in agreement. Lucifer saw Pit and smiled sinisterly. Once my brother defeats me, it will be my chance to bring out my surprise attack, he thought. Then he also saw the girl and the dog. I'm not going to go after you yet. But I'll be saving you two for last, he added. The girl and dog quickly hid behind the entrance again before the battle began. Lucifer in Pit's Body started the fight by shooting charged shots at Pit/Magnus, while angel in the human's body avoided it. "You're tough, Magnus, but I'm no slouch either," said Pit. "You're the only member of Palutena's army who can carry his own weight," Magnus replied. "Don't even get me started on the centurions. Yeah, there's a ton of them, but they're all pretty flimsy." "They're grunts. What do you expect?" said the angel. "There's no incentive for them to toughen up—they get revived when they die." "What are you talking about? So do you!" replied the human. "Well, yeah, but...I can't help it if Lady Palutena has my back!" responded the angel. Lucifer still tried to take him down with his attacks, while Pit continued to fight back with his attacks as well. You're good, brother, as I intended, the Devil thought. But let's see if you can survive long enough and make me proud. "OK, it looks like the thing to do is focus on dodging and not getting hit," said Pit. "I guess I should've played more Light vs. Dark to train..." However, Lucifer can still read Pit's mind despite being in his own body. I can hear you in that body your possessing, you know! he thought. Stop breaking the fourth wall! "This battle is so scary!" exclaimed the girl. "I just want the angel back!" The dog whimpered and nodded in agreement. Soon enough, Devil Pit in Pit's Body was defeated. Now it's time for my surprise attack chance! he thought. "Now give me back my body!" exclaimed Pit in victory. "OK, let's get this ring on him," said Magnus. Lucifer was knocked unconscious after that big battle. After taking off the ring, Magnus moved to Pit's Body. The girl and dog came out of the hiding spot and rushed to where Magnus and Pit's Body were. "Let me help you," said the girl as she lifted the angel's arm up. "Thanks, kid," said Magnus. The girl smiled, but before Magnus could put the ring on the finger, Lucifer suddenly woke up, took the ring from Magnus, grabbed the muscular human with both of his arms, and threw him out of the tower. "AAAAAHHHHH!" he cried. "Oh no!" the girl gasped in horror as the dog howled and whimpered in fear.

Music stops and switches to: Kevin Macleod ~ Giant Wyrm

Magnus roughly landed on the floor with a loud crunch. The only damage he got was a slightly broken right leg. "Argh!" he groaned in pain. "What happened?!" He looked up and saw Lucifer, still in Pit's body, staring coldly with an evil menacing look. "What have you done?!" Magnus yelled. "Why are you doing this to us?!" But Lucifer only stared at Magnus with his still cold look. Until he finally spoke out, "Leave." Magnus was shocked to hear him. "What did you say?" he asked. "I said leave," Lucifer responded. "This is no place for you. If you want to live a little longer, I suggest you leave this place and never show your face around here ever again!" Magnus struggled as he slowly crawled away from the Devil's evil eyes. Lucifer then slowly turned his head to face the girl and dog with his still evil and cold gaze. "And you better not be nosy about my master plan, mortals," he said, sinisterly. "Run away in fear, screaming, and I'll let you live...for now. Because if you don't, you'll feel the same pain like your ally." The girl and dog looked at each other in horror and then they ran away as fast as they could. "It's over!" the girl cried. "We're doomed! We'll never be safe here anymore!" The dog howled in sadness and fright. "Now that that's done, time to take my brother out of this ring and back into his body," said Lucifer and then put the ring on his finger, causing it to shatter and disappear. After that, he used his powers to get out of Pit's body, knocking his brother unconscious. A few seconds later, Pit slowly started to wake up. "Ugh..." he groaned. "Did...everything go as planned?" "Why yes it did," Lucifer replied. "Now all you have to do is to follow your enemy, Viridi, on the quiet." "Why would I want to side with the enemy?" Pit asked. "Because it makes her feel unsuspicious about our plans," Lucifer explained. "To make sure she hears you, pretend you're calling to Palutena. That way, she'll hear you and you pretend to believe that it's Palutena instead of her." "Got it. Here goes nothing," Pit affirmed as he began to call out to his goddess. "Lady Palutena! Can you hear me?! I need your help!" There was no response for a moment. "I can't fly without you! Please help me! Please give me the power to fly back to the heavens...and back to you!" he called again, and this time, Pit's wings started to glow green and he began to fly. "Good work," said Lucifer. "Now remember to stick with the plan and pretend to not know her before becoming her 'ally.'" "Consider that done, Lucifer," Pit replied. "She won't know what will happen." He then flew away to "save" Palutena. I better get going as well, Lucifer thought. I must handle the rest of my enemies before heading back to the temple. He flew away as well to deal with the Underworld army and Forces of Nature.

Music stops and switches to: The Ring of Chaos

Pit then flew above the Decimated Town, received four more Recover Orbs to replenish his health, and began to fight with his Darkness Bow against Underworld Army enemies who soon spotted him. It didn't take very long to notice the centurions of Palutena's Army, who Lucifer sent as a diversion, spotted the angel as well and Pit had no other choice but to fend them off. He decided to listen to his brother's orders by pretending to believe it was Palutena who activated the Power of Flight. "I missed you, Lady Palutena! I'm so glad you're back to lead me!" he exclaimed in relief. "Right. About that..." said a different voice, unsimilar to Palutena's. "Huh?! Viridi?" Pit gasped in disbelief. "That's right. I'm the one controlling your flight path," Viridi replied. "Really? How is that even possible?" Pit asked. "Don't you know? Anything Palutena can do, I can do better!" Viridi answered. "So. Do you want my help or not?" "Actually, I was just thinking about how nice it would be to fly on my own," said Pit, feeling uncomfortable. "Yeah? Not an option," said Viridi. "Will you at least tell me what happened to Lady Palutena?" Pit asked. "I'll do you one better. I'll show you," said Viridi. "Please fasten your seat belt. This is a nonstop flight to Skyworld." "Guess I don't really have a choice here," Pit sighed. "Nope, not really," said Viridi. "Then I'm all in!" said Pit. Viridi then flew Pit through the stormy weather while also avoiding airborne debris that were sucked in by the giant tornados. He then flew into the clouds and was near his destination. "We're approaching Skyworld," Viridi pointed out. "I'm praying that Lady Palutena is all right," said Pit. "You're praying? To who?" Viridi questioned. "You are one confused angel." Although I'm having a bad feeling that something isn't right about this, she added in thought. Something tells me there is something...off. But I can't seem to figure out what. Pit then received four more Recover Orbs to replenish his health again and flew up higher to see Skyworld completely destroyed. He was shocked. "What?! What happened here?!" he exclaimed. "It used to be so beautiful..." "Look what's become of it," said Viridi. This doesn't look good. I sure hope there is away to fix all of this without my commanders, she added in thought. Pit continued to fight more of Palutena's Army, sent by Devil Pit, still in shock about what he witnessed right now. "Palutena's gone off the deep end and destroyed Skyworld in the process," Viridi continued. "She's still fighting the Underworld Army, but she's mankind's enemy now too. Must be because of the work of Devil Pit." "And what about your Forces of Nature?" Pit asked. "Oh, they keep busy," Viridi responded. "But less so now that the humans are occupied with Palutena." "And to think, I was so worried about her..." Pit sighed in disbelief. "Well, if you're not too busy moping, there's something you should see," Viridi began and flew Pit forward to see, "Palutena's temple!" Pit was even more shocked to see it. Seeing Skyworld destroyed was one thing, but that was too much for him to bear. "It's all beat up!" he exclaimed. Suddenly, he saw Palutena's projection. "Well, it's been a while, Pit," she said. "It's like the entire world's been turned upside down!" Pit exclaimed. "What's going on?" "Everything changes, Pit. Even gods," Palutena started as she threw several islands at her poor angel. "And to be frank, I'm tired of fighting for those ungrateful humans. And I'm especially tired of dealing with you!" "No!" Pit cried in disbelief. "You heard her," said Viridi. "This is real." "She's being manipulated. Someone else is pulling the strings!" Pit exclaimed. It might sound wrong of me to talk like this, but it's all my brother's orders to stay out of suspicion, he added in thought. "No, you're the only puppet here," Palutena responded, laughing menacingly. "I have to help her! Viridi! Send me in!" Pit ordered. "Are you sure about that?" the Goddess of Nature asked. "Absolutely!" Pit affirmed. "Don't say I didn't warn you!" Viridi warned and flew Pit to the temple. "Lady Palutenaaaaaa!" Pit cried as he flew straight towards the temple, only for a gigantic barrier to come up. Pit was knocked into the barrier and flew backwards. "Aaaaugh!" he cried. "Oops! I forgot to mention," said Viridi. "Her temple is protected by a force field." "You totally set me up!" Pit yelled. "Well, there's nothing more we can do here," said Viridi. "Come on, Pit." She opened up a light pillar to whisk Pit to her temple.

Music stops and switches to: Solo Menu (Viridi)

Pit arrived at Viridi's temple and looked around. He never imagined it to be so pretty, unlike the previous temple he always lived in of course. Not to mention, he was still working with his brother in their diversion. "What happened here?" he asked. "Well, you've still got to prep for battle," said Viridi. "Like it or not, I'm taking over Palutena's duties." "You're joking, right?" Pit questioned. "Hmph. I told you," Viridi scoffed. "Anything Palutena can do, I can do better." Pit looked around and realized that all of his weapons he used in his previous missions and battles against his Devilish enemy were still in the Arms Alter. "Wow! Everything I need is still here!" he exclaimed, impressed. "I guess I didn't give you enough credit. You're kind of awesome, Viridi." "Do you have to be such an insufferable suck-up all the time?" Viridi asked. "It won't get you anywhere with me. My only concern is taking down Hades." That and I still feel like there is still something wrong going on besides the Underworld, she added in thought. "Anyway, you can equip weapons and powers here, just like always," she continued. "Got it?" "Got it," Pit reluctantly affirmed. "Good. Now let me take you to your bedroom," said Viridi. She then took Pit to his room where he can sleep. "So, you can take a nice long rest here before we get ready for the mission," she explained. "Hope you can enjoy your stay if you can." "Yeah. Thanks Viridi," Pit thanked, although it didn't sound thankful enough. Viridi then left the room as soon as Pit got to bed. But before he can close his eyes, he noticed a portal open up right next to him. "Come with me back into the Void," said Lucifer from within. "I have something to show you." Pit got out of his bed, took off his laurel crown in case Viridi might be snooping around his area, and entered the portal into the Void.

As soon as Pit got out of the portal, he saw Lucifer waiting for him. He then walked towards his brother. "Great news, Icarus," Lucifer started. "Everything is all going according to plan. Palutena is completely under our control and causing a mass destruction throughout both Skyworld and the Overworld. Now that the Chaos Kin is keeping things occupied, I need you to complete the next task of our plan." "And what would that next task be, Lucifer?" Pit asked. "The next task is very simple. All you have to do is to continue pretending to be Viridi's ally," Lucifer explained. "Since all of her commanders are dead, she's the only one left with her 'children.' I sense a strange presence somewhere in a giant tower. They are almost alive and must be defeated so that we can collect the soul for our ritual." "Can you tell me who this 'presence' is, Lucifer?" Pit asked his brother. "Unfortunately, I can't seem to figure out who it is," Lucifer replied. "But one thing is for certain is that the presence is very familiar to one of my recent victims. Make sure you find the victim, while completing the task the Nature Goddess will give you, and bring their soul to me once you're done." "I understand, Lucifer," Pit affirmed. "I won't disappoint you." "You better not. Now, go back to your room," said Lucifer as he opened a portal and Pit entered it to go back to his room. After that, the portal closed up again. Lucifer began to smile, sinisterly. "Our master plan is going smoothly," he told himself. "Soon, there will be nothing remaining in this insufferable universe! HAHAHAHAHAHAHA!"

Oh dear. Pit and Lucifer's plan is still going as intended. What will happen to the humans now that the whole world is in complete chaos? Will Viridi attempt to stop Palutena and Hades during this war without her commanders? Will the angel brothers find the next victim and steal their soul? Stay tuned for chapter nineteen of the Evil Route, review, and have a great day!
