APPENDIX

HOUSE BARATHEON

The then Lord Robert Baratheon married Alysanne of House Hightower in a modest ceremony in Stoney Sept after being informed of Lyanna Stark's death and having won the Battle of the Bells with the help of the armies of the Vale, the North, the Riverlands and Oldtown. It was not until shortly after that Ser Baelor (Lady Alysanne's Brother), convinced Baratheon to claim the Iron Throne.

After the battle at Stoney Sept came the Trident by the fourth moon of 283 a.c.. The Battle of the Trident was the most decisive confrontation in the war. Crowned Prince Rhaegar and Robert Baratheon met in single combat and the Stormlord killed Rhaegar with a blow to the chest from his warhammer. Eventually, the loyalist host broke and fled the battlefield.

King's Landing had been taken and besieged by the rest of the Hightower forces and was finally taken when their allied forces finally arrived from the Riverlands. King Aerys II had been slain by his own King's Guard, and his queen and their second son left for Dragonstone, Princess Elia and her children were taken hostages by the Hightowers, so, the path was clear for Robert to claim the Iron Throne.

In Riverrun around the last week of the ninth moon of 283 a.c., Queen Alysanne gave birth to their eldest son, Edric. The two of them were taken to King's Landing for the coronation of King Robert.

By the eleventh moon turn of that year, King Robert and his wife began their rule of the Seven Kingdoms. The union proved fruitful, for, in the years that followed, the couple would have two more daughters, Jocelyn (284 a.c.) and Cassandra (288 a.c.), and two more sons, Borys (290 a.c.) and Steffon (295 a.c.),

As he now resided in King's Landing, King Robert granted the ancestral seat of House Baratheon, Storm's End, to his youngest brother, Renly, a boy, while naming Stannis as Lord of Dragonstone and Master of Ships. As for this last year, Lord Renly also joined the Small Council after Lord Appleton's resignation due to illness.

House Baratheon has been ruling Westeros for fourteen years since then, yet, many would claim that it was not until the Greyjoy Rebellion eight years ago that this new dynasty was able to conciliate their rule over the Seven Kingdoms. House Greyjoy (who had remained neutral during the entirety of the war) rose in rebellion during the last year of a three-year-long winter. The whole kingdom united behind their new king and defeated the Ironborn, and by the end of the year, House Greyjoy became extinct afterwards, for old Lord Quellon remained in the ever-dreary Pyke, and most of his kin died or was taken prisoner by allied houses.

Late in that year, the spring finally arrived, and with that came the second son of King Robert and Queen Alysanne, named Borys, after a great Storm King. Like his brother, he was a lusty black-haired, blue-eyed lad that weighed almost twice as much as his elder sister. It was a joy for the whole realm; the line of the King was now secured.

With four royal children, royal matches were expected, and so King Robert betrothed his eldest daughter to Prince Quentyn of Dorne, a boy only three years her senior. Many agree it was a good match and would heal any rift remaining between Dorne and the new dynasty by joining them together.

But nothing gold could ever stay, for in the fourth moon of 291 a.c. the new royal family was met with tragedy with the death of their second son. Prince Borys had lived for five months before succumbing to a terrible fever. That would not be their first tragedy, however, since late in the following year Princess Jocelyn had a terrible accident whilst riding with the King, Prince Oberyn Martell and her betrothed, Prince Quentyn Martell.

The young princess lingered for days before dying in the seventh day of the seventh moon of 292 a.c.. The whole kingdom mourned her, especially her mother. But the Queen recovered from her grief, and two years later, she announced her fifth pregnancy. By the next year, Prince Steffon was born, securing once again the line of King Robert.

Today, House Baratheon rules the Seven Kingdoms in peace. King Robert has the loyalty of the lords, knights and soldiers of Westeros, and his queen is beloved by both lowborn and highborn alike.

HOUSE HIGHTOWER

On the eve of the Battles at Summerhall, House Hightower, who had yet to choose a side, intercepted a party of half a dozen men. Amongst it, there were three Knights of the Kingsguard: Ser Arthur Dayne, Ser Oswell Whent, and the Lord Commander Gerold Hightower, and the missing northern Lady, Lyanna Stark. With the exception of young Lyanna, all men were killed, for they have proved hostile, including Ser Gerold, who was an uncle to Lord Leyton.

Lyanna Stark, who had become ill during her capture, and was taken to the High Tower immediately. Lord Leyton send a raven to Lord Eddard about the whereabouts of his sister and the young lord came quickly to her aid. But sadly once the Lord of Winterfell arrived, his sister was already on her deathbed. By the tenth moon turn of that year, Lyanna Stark died in her brother's arms.

Moved by these events, the Lord of Oldtown offered terms to the rebels against the Targaryen dynasty. His then most nubile daughter, Alysanne, would marry Lord Robert Baratheon in exchange the rebels would receive an army of over fifteen thousand men lead by Lord Leyton's eldest son and heir, Ser Baelor Brightsmile, a renowned knight and daring commander, and the complete support of Oldtown. Lord Stark agreed to these terms on behalf of his friend and together with their new forces, they marched north to the Riverlands where their allies awaited for them. Against Lord Leyton's counsel, the Lady Alysanne also joined the host claiming that she was not afraid to marry her Stormlord among blood and steel.

As they marched, other noble houses joined, most notably among them were Florent, Crane and Oakheart. With them joining their ranks the army grew bigger, now hoisting over twenty thousand men, and almost half of it cavalry.

While Lord Leyton's heir fought in the Riverlands, his younger sons went all over the Reach to gain support from the other lords with a small army of two thousand men. By the time all the battles in the Riverlands were won, the small army had grown over thrice it size (the bulk of it being deserters from House Rowan and Footly) and began marching to King's Landing.

By the end of 283 a.c. all of the Reacher Lords have switched their allegiance and King's Landing was taken. King Aerys was slain by his own Kingsguard, pregnant Queen Rhaella fled to Dragonstone with Prince Viserys, and Princess Elia of Dorne and her children Rhaenys and Aegon were taken hostage by House Hightower to ensure the loyalty of House Martell.

House Targaryen had lost the war against the rebels and now Robert Baratheon sat on the Iron Throne and Alysanne of House Hightower as Queen.

But it would not be the last battle fought in the name of House Baratheon. In 289 a.c. Balon Greyjoy initiated a rebellion against his father's wishes for independence for the Ironborn. By 290, the Ironborn lost the war and House Hightower took many hostages from them, most notably amongst them was Theon Greyjoy, Balon Greyjoy's only surviving son. The boy had been sent as a ward to Red Lake for his safety, however.

As one of King Robert's most loyal supporters, House Stark fought with the Baratheon King from the very beginning. However, it remains uncertain that had there not been support from House Hightower, House Stark and the other allies of Robert Baratheon might not have been able to win against House Targaryen and their supporters.

HOUSE TYRELL

Even though House Tyrell remained loyal to House Targaryen during the entirety of King Robert's Rebellion, the Golden Rose was able to retain their power, for they have proved more than loyal vassals. A notion that was credited when they raised their swords in favour of House Baratheon of King's Landing in 289a.c. when Balon Greyjoy rose in rebellion.

In a gesture of trust, Mace Tyrell has sent his two younger children to court. Though it should be accounted that his children are kin to the queen through their mother's side.

HOUSE LANNISTER

Notoriously neutral throughout the entirety of King Robert's Rebellion, House Lannisters did not choose a side to support. Many believe this was due to the deteriorating relationship between the former king, Aerys II, and the head of the house, Lord Tywin.

By all means Lord Tywin should have lend his support to House Targaryen. His eldest son, Jaime, was a member of Aerys' Kingsguard, and his daughter had married one of House Targaryen's most loyal bannermen and a member of Aerys' small council, the Master of Ships Lucerys Velaryon.

Moreover, it was heavily rumoured that the marriage between Lady Cersei and the widower Lord of Tides have been arranged by Lord Tywin with the hopes of a granddaughter with the blood of Old Valyria to marry Aerys' grandson, the young prince Aegon.

Whether or not there was a scheme, the granddaughter arrived too late in the war. King's Landing was already taken by the rebels, Aerys was killed by Jaime himself. Prince Aegon, apart from being disinherited at the last moment, was taken prisoner along with his mother and sister and Robert Baratheon, who already sired an heir on his new wife, had been crowned king shortly before.

During the first moon turn of 284 a.c., House Lannister and the entirety of the Westerlands swore fealty to the new king. A tourney was celebrated in Lannisport late in that same year to commemorate the first year of rule of King Robert. And that fealty was rewarded in 290 a.c. when Jason Lannister, a nephew to the late Lady Joanna and who would soon become Lady Cersei's second husband, was granted the position of Master of Coin after. Sadly, good Jason died only three years of office and marriage.

HOUSE MARTELL

Due to their close ties to House Targaryen, House Nymeros Martell was forced into a war they had a little wish and little gain from participating in it, but for the safety of Princess Elia and her children, they raised their spears in favour of the red Dragon in 282 a.c. Fortunately for them, Princess Elia and her children were all pardoned after the war ended in late 283 a.c., however, they all ended up as hostages in Old Town and many of their major harbours were destroyed by the Ironmen (most notably Planky Town and Ghost Hill).

Even though the sudden deaths of the princess and her son raised some questions amongst Dornish nobility (most notably from Prince Oberyn himself), all suspicions were kept quiet, relegating them to mere whispers and rumours.

Yet in 287 a.c., the daughter of Elia suddenly disappeared from her confinement. Many would claim that House Martell had been behind this, but there has been no proof of Dornish involvement.

During the first moon of 288 a.c. conversations of a betrothal between Princess Jocelyn Baratheon and Prince Quentyn Martell started and in 290 a.c., after the defeat of House Greyjoy in their unprecedented rebellion, a betrothal was arranged, however, nothing came from it since the young princess died in a riding accident two years later. Ever since, both the crowned stag and the spear-pierced sun had been wary of each other, with no attempts for peace or war by each part.

HOUSE GREYJOY

Everyone thought that after the war ended, House Greyjoy would have remained loyal to House Baratheon. There have been some precedent to believe so, for in 283 a.c. Lord Quellon's three eldest sons sacked and raided the Dornish eastern coasts, burning down the mayor harbours of the region.

So it may have come with a surprise that in 289 a.c. Balon Greyjoy rose in rebellion and declared himself king of the Iron Isles and place his own father in a cell, proclaiming that he would have his people return to the Old Way, and that he never and would never bent the knee to the Baratheon King.

The rebellion was crushed immediately. Balon Greyjoy might have thought that, as a usurper, King Robert might not have enough support from all the Lord of the Seven Kingdoms, but he couldn't have been more wrong; the whole Kingdom riled behind the Baratheon King and fought the Ironborn uprising.

After the war, Lord Quellon was restored to his position as ruler, his eldest Balon, however, was taken prisoner by the crown with the other two instigators, Balon's younger brothers: Euron and Victarion. The three were given a choice between death or the wall. Balon chose death and was executed the week after. His younger brothers fled in exile, however.

Balon's two eldest sons died in battle, while his youngest was given to House Crane of Red Lake as a ward. His younger brother Urrigon was taken hostage by House Celtigar and Aeron joined the Night's Watch.

HOUSE CELTIGAR

House Celtigar is an ancient and proud house, with the blood of old Valyria in its veins. For years they have served House Targaryen with the utmost loyalty, with most of its members being granted high positions of power (such as Master of coin) during the reign of the Dragon Kings. Despite this, in all of their years of reign, there has never been a Celtigar queen.

There has been plenty of attempts; the first one recorded was during the reign of King Maegor the Cruel, the then hand, Lord Edwell, offered the king his two maiden daughters, but both girls were refused on account of their age. The latest attempt was twenty years ago, in the reign of the mad king, where Lord Ardrian himself, in a rare act of generosity, proposed a betrothal between his niece, Marys, and Prince Rhaegar.

The Lady Marys had been a strapping maiden of six-and-ten, nicely dowered and with silver-gold hair and purple eyes. The blood of Old Valyria was strong in her; that was for certain, but that certainty came with a grave cost, for the young lady had inherited her looks from her mother, a peasant woman from Dragonstone. On this account, the offer was dismissed by the King, calling it an unworthy match for his heir.

Fortunately, Lord Ardrian was able to find a suitable match for his niece. The groom was Ser Baelor Targaryen, a second cousin to the king who served as Dragonstone's castellan. The union proved fruitful, for in 281 a.c. the couple had already had a son. However, this was not Lord Ardrian's only triumph during the years of Aerys II's reign for that in the seventh day of the first month of 282 a.c. the King named him Master of Ships after Lord Velaryon left the office (presumably because of his betrothal to Lord Tywin's daughter). But many would claim it was a poisoned gift for the rebellion that would end House Targaryen's almost three hundred years of rule started that same year.

The war costed him his heir, half of his fleet, his position in court, the exile of a niece and great nephew and his only grandson taken hostage by the new King to ensure the loyalty of the house.

Lord Ardrian Celtigar sided with House Baratheon against House Greyjoy in their failed rebellion, losing his second son, Arryk, and only grandson, Edmure, to the war but gaining a valuable hostage in Urrigon Greyjoy, Lord Quellon's fourth son. In 292 a.c., the old Lord married again to his late grandson's widow, the Lady Johanna Estermont, a distant cousin to King Robert from the noble (but impoverished) house from the Stormlands.

HOUSE VELARYON

A noble house with a storied Valyrian lineage, the Velaryons had for centuries remained the oldest and closest allies of the Targaryens having intermarried many times throughout the years, so it did not come as a surprise that the old house sided with the red dragon in Kings Robert's Rebellion.

But it was not Lord Lucerys who lead the Velaryon fleet during most of the war, for the widowed Lord had been in the Westerlands marrying his second wife, the Lady Cersei of House Lannister, the daughter of Lord Tywin. It was Ser Daeron, a cousin to the lord, who led the Velaryon fleet into the war, sizing control over Blackwater bay and laying siege upon the shores of Storm's End and Cape Wrath.

Lord Lucerys was summoned back to King's Landing by the King himself in late 283 a.c., leaving behind Casterly Rock, his new bride (who was pregnant with their daughter at the time) and all the hopes of having the Westerlands join the red dragon in battle. There the Lord of Driftmark escorted Queen Rhaella and Prince Viserys and garrisoned with his own men the castle of Dragonstone. But in the end, all of those attempts to protect the royal house were futile; King Aerys died by the sword of his own Kingsguard, Queen Rhaella died in childbirth, and the younger princes escaped in exile to the east. House Velaryon bent the knee to the new King and, because of their previous affiliations with house Targaryen, was forced to submit hostages to the new crown; Valiant Ser Daeron and his daughter.

The proud valyrian house would not have their chance to prove their loyalty to the new crown until the Greyjoy Rebellion, sadly this came with the deaths of both Ser Daeron and Lord Lucerys, the only two men who could command the mighty fleet of the seahorse. The young Monford (Lucerys' only trueborn son) became Lord of Driftmark at the age of thirteen, and thankfully for him the years that followed were peaceful and the house got the chance to finally heal from all the tragedy.

HOUSE TARGARYEN

While the reign of King Aerys II Targaryen began with much promise, his would become the reign that ended the Targaryen Dynasty. In the beginning, Aerys had great plans for his realm, but the young monarch would never compromise to any of his ideas and most plans were quickly forgotten. Though the Lord of Casterly Rock would be the king's Hand for almost twenty years, tensions between the two friends began early in Aerys's reign, for the King grew increasingly jealous of his Hand's achievements.

When in 276 AC, after many miscarriages, stillbirths, and deaths in the cradle, Prince Viserys was born, Tywin hosted a tournament in honour of Viserys' birth at Lannisport, which Aerys II and Rhaegar attended. There, Lord Tywin suggested his daughter Cersei as a bride for Rhaegar. Aerys refused him, stating he would not wed his son to the daughter of his servant. Instead, King Aerys married his son to the Dornish princess, Elia Martell, a girl known for her poor health, a questionable decision for the King only had two male heirs of his own and a cousin from a forgotten branch of the family who had married a half-peasant girl.

In 281 a.c Aerys appointed Tywin's heir, Ser Jaime Lannister, to his Kingsguard. This event drove Lord Tywin to resign as Hand, but before doing so, he betrothed his daughter to King Aerys' master of ships, the Lord of Driftmark, which would prove to be crucial in the upcoming war since most of House Targaryen's naval power came from the Velaryon fleet.

Early in that same year, the only son of the king's cousin, Ser Baelor Targaryen, was born in Dragonstone, a lusty lad named Maegor after Ser Baelor's own father. A question of succession and legitimacy was aroused since the knight descended from an elder brother to King Maekar, but the council was quick to dismiss it, for that branch of the Targaryen family had been long disinherited and was said to be fiercely loyal to the senior branch, for valiant Ser Baelor died fighting for the crown in the Battles at Summerhall.

The next year, shortly after the birth of his second child, Prince Rhaegar left Dragonstone on a journey. The prince ended up in the Riverlands where he found and kidnapped Lyanna of House Stark. In response to this, Lyanna's older brother Brandon went to King's Landing and in retaliation threatened to end Rhaegar's life, however, the prince was not present, and Brandon and his companions were arrested by King Aerys II Targaryen and charged with plotting Rhaegar's murder and summoned his father, Lord Rickard of Winterfell, for a trial. At the trial, Aerys had both men killed, after which he demanded the heads of Lord Robert Baratheon, Lyanna's betrothed, and Eddard Stark, Lyanna's younger brother. Their foster father, Lord Jon Arryn, refused Aerys's commands and raised his banners, thereby starting the rebellion that would end almost three-hundred years of Targaryen rule.

By the end of 283 a.c., House Targaryen had already lost the war and Robert Baratheon had successfully gained the Iron Throne. King Aerys II had been slain by Ser Jaime Lannister, his own Kingsguard, and Princess Elia and her two children were taken as hostages to Oldtown. Little Aegon was to become a maester or a septon and Rhaenys was promised to the Faith.

Dowager Queen Rhaella crowned her son Viserys but died when she gave birth to Princess Daenerys in 284 a.c. during the storming of Dragonstone. With the enemy approaching the island and the garrison willing to surrender, Ser Willem Darry, who had served as the Red Keep's master-at-arms for King Aerys, spirited young Viserys and the babe to the Free Cities, where they end up travelling from city to city.

Little Aegon died from a fever the next year and, out of grief, his mother threw herself from a tower leaving Rhaenys an orphan. A year later the young girl suddenly disappeared from the motherhouse she had been kept. It remains a mystery wherever princess Rhaenys still lives, or who was behind her escape, but one thing is certain, the girl is not in the Seven Kingdoms.
