A message from the boss:

Well...it's still next week. This is the reason why I went on hiatus, because of time. But I promised myself that I would post all of my chapters so that everyone here would catch up.

Anyways, I hope you like this. World-building is very important, but thankfully, you can read this first and jump right into TFA without a problem.

So yes, for anyone who has no idea, Team Current is from my other fanfic, The Fantastic Adventure. As stated before, you can read this first, but you might as well read TFA because that's the main story...and maybe like it, follow it, and send in a review while you're at it.

Chapter 1: Before The Current

It was about noon time at Ocean's Island, the sun was in the middle of the bright blue sky without a single cloud in sight. And on a dock, there was a group of three Pokemon with a large group of kids right next to them, one of which was asking a Luxray a question. A question that he didn't seem to like.

"For the last time. I DO NOT HAVE A CRUSH ON MEDLEY! We're just a team! There's a difference!" The Luxray said to the kids.

"But you're both fully evolved AND you work together!" An Oshawott replied.

"Bolt!" A Lapras cried out, "You better not be attacking the kids!"

"I'm not!" The Luxray quickly answered with sweet going down his head. The last thing he wanted was Melody to get involved. "They're just asking some questions and it's starting to get on my nerves."

"See. Boley!" The Oshawott said as he made a smile as he put his flippers together.

Bolt cringed and said, "If you have to know, I HAVE felt love before, but it's from a girl back at home! Happy?" He said sparking with electricity.

The Oshawott took a step back, not wanting to make the Gleam Eyes Pokemon any more mad. "Kids with their weird questions these days." Bolt muttered while rolling his eyes. Bolt did like children, just when they weren't asking him a Lapras-load of question.

Then a Mudkip raised his hand. Bolt sighed. "Final question, but if it's about me and Medley, then I'm leaving."

"You mean there's someone you like at the Guild?"

"Actually, she's from our old home." A Pichu answered from the top of Bolt's head. Bolt looked up. If there was one thing he knew, it was that his brother enjoyed sitting on his head, whether he liked it or not, and it wasn't like he could catch him. If you blink, that Pichu will be gone.

"Sparks, what are you doing on my head instead of helping Medley load the boxes?" Bolt said staring at his little brother.

"Well, I was just coming over here to say that we're all done, and we are good to go!" Sparks said as he hopped off Bolt's head.

"Wait, but if your real home isn't at the Guild, then where is your old home?" The Mudkip asked.

"It's way over at a place called Thuderwave Town!" Sparks replied, pointing over to the sea, where there was a tiny, little dot sitting on the water miles away. The kids were stunned. It was a brand new place that they never knew about. "But, you can't really see it from here, but it's on the same island that the Guild is on."

"So you three used to live there?" A Squirtle said.

"Well, that was where Bolt and I lived, but Medley lived here!" Sparks said. The Squirtle's eyes got bigger.

"But wait." A Piplup asked, pointing in two different directions. "If she lived here, then how did you all meet?"

Sparks stopped and thought of an answer, "That's kind of a long story. We would have to go over Bolt hating me, me seeing Medley, getting-"

"Sparks!" Bolt interupted. "I think we should get going now. Don't want to be late...well, even more late for unloading all of those crates."

"Awww." The kids said, very disappointed.

"Don't worry!" Sparks said. "We can tell you all the story some other time! But for now we really should get back to the Guild." The kids started to walk back off the dock, and toward their parents to go back home, while the Pichu and Luxray walked toward the Lapras, who was talking to a shiny Primarina.

The Pichu hopped on the Lapras followed by Bolt. "So, did they finally run out of questions?" The Primarina said. Bolt sighed again.

"Karah, how do you deal with their questions? I swear they...never...END."

Melody laughs. "Maybe it's because they don't see us as often."

"Well, whatever's the reason, you better get ready for them next week." Karah says. "Thanks again for doing taking them under my flipper. It's a huge help for my family."

Bolt grins a little. "That's what rescue teams do. Help others out, no matter how hard it'll be." Bolt stared off into the distance for a while before shaking his head and heads to the Lapras.

Melody starts to make her way out of the dock when Karah calls out, "Best Wishes, see you next week." All three members of Team Current wave back to the shiny Pokemon as the Transport Pokemon swims through the sea.

"You know, I'm actually excited to tell everyone our story! It's so long and good. You know, I think I should write it all down...Wait a minute, THAT'S A GREAT IDEA!" Sparks says excitingly and looks for something to write on.

Melody gets confused and asks Bolt, "What story?"

"The kids want to know how we all met." Bolt said as he laid down on the Lapras's shell.

Medley laughed. "Those kids do love to ask questions."

"You don't have to tell me twice." Bolt replied, although a little quieter than normal.

"Hey bro, do you know if we have a piece of paper in our bag."

"Sparks." Bolt says. "I would like to rest for a little while. Pulling all those boxes are not easy."

Sparks smiles. "Alright, I check the raft." He then hops over to the raft that Melody is pulling and starts his search. Bolt then looks at the sky, and sighs. As he closes his eyes, and goes to sleep, he thinks back about the past.

"Never thought we'd ever end up here." He thought to himself as he dozed off.

"What a crazy couple of days."

A Luxio stared at the principal's door. He started to sweat. He had been told that he was called here for a reason, but he was never told why. Was it his grades? The way he acted? Did they find out about what he did last week? He took a deep breath and opened the door.

He saw a large pink Pokemon that had pink wings on the back sitting behind a wooden desk.

"Y-you called for me, Mrs. Clefable?" The Luxio asks, shaking a little.

"Yes, yes I did Bolt. Can you come forward please." She said in a normal tone.

That didn't help. Now he was really nervous. "S-sure." The Luxio walked slowly into the small room toward his seat. Hoping that this would be a quick in and out, he decided to know why he came here.

"Soooo, why did you call me? Is there something wrong?" Bolt said as he took a seat.

"Well, I didn't just call you. I called someone else." The Fairy-Type answered.

Now Bolt was even more confused. "Huh, who else-"

The back door suddenly opens with a small, yellow mouse sticking his head out of the open crack of the door. "Sorry I'm late Mrs. Clefable! I was just talking with my friends and lost track of time!" In a second, the Pichu bolted from the door right into a chair right next to the Luxio.

He then looked up to him. "Oh, hey Bro! What are you doing here?" He says with a smile.

Bolt is caught off guard by this. He didn't do anything bad to his brother...did he?

"Wh-what is he doing here?" Bolt asked as the Clefable took two pieces of paper from her desk.

Sparks got excited. "Are those our final grades?" He asked.

"Yes, it is." The principal said. The Pichu smiled, while the Luxio gulped.

"All of your grades came in and I was...well, shocked to see some of them, to say the least." The principal added.

Now Bolt was really sweating, but he stayed strong, and held a straight face. "Some of the teachers couldn't believe some of the grades that happened, and I think you should see them now." She handed the papers to the two electric Pokemon.

Sparks took his paper almost immediately, followed by Bolt. "Can't wait! I bet I did really good on it. What do you think, Bro?" Sparks said.

That however, only made Bolt more worried. So worried, that he forgot about his little brother's question. The Clefable looked at the two. "You really are quite different for being in the same family." The Clefable chuckled.

Bolt closed his eyes as he held his paper. How much things could they add to make things worse? Besides, he knew it, it was bad, he got a bad grade which would mean saying goodbye to a relaxing summer vacation. It was so clear. He didn't want to, but the Electric-Type opened his eyes to look at his paper.

...

Eighty-three percent.

...

His total grade was eighty-three percent. He stared at his grade and sighed. That's a good grade. I mean, it could have been better, but the grade you needed in order to pass the school year was seventy-three percent at the lowest. He had passed!

But if he passed, than why were they-

"NINETY-EIGHT PERCENT?!"

"What?!" The Luxio said in shock as he turned to his brother, who could barly believe what he just saw.

"I got a ninety-eight! That's an A+!" Sparks said jumping up and down on his chair, holding his paper like it was a trophy.

The Luxio had his mouth dropped. He had been in this school for three years, and never got into the nineties, but now his little brother was getting an A+ in his first?! He took Spark's paper after he calmed down, and he read it from top to bottom.

Ninety-eight percent. He was right. The Pichu got an A+. On his first year. His little brother. He did that.

The Luxio suddenly didn't feel too proud of his eighty-three percent.

The Clefable spoke. "I had called you because I'm afraid I might have mixed up the test between you two. I mean, it's not every year someone gets an A+, let alone someone in his first school year. I want to make sure if you know which paper is yours."

Bolt looked at his page, he recognized his answers, and saw his paw writing. The paper with the eighty-three percent was his. "No, this is my test." Bolt said. Sure, he was a little mad at Sparks, but he knew lying wasn't going to help in any way.

"Yeah, and this is my test!" Sparks also said.

"It is? Thank goodness!" The principle said in relief. "I was afraid that I had mixed them up because you two were brothers! Well, good job to the you of two! Especially you, Sparks! You know a whole lot when it comes to Pokemon. Keep it up and you can do great things in the future!"

The Pichu's eyes sparkled. "Thank you, Mrs. Clefable! I will!"

The Clefable smiled. "That's what I like to hear! You two have a wonderful summer break, and I'll see you in the fall!"

"We will." The brothers said, although Bolt said it in a much more quiet tone.

"And Sparks! I'm sorry if I sounded like I didn't want you to have the grade." The principal called out. "I was just making sure I got it right."

"It's okay! I get that a lot!" Sparks said happily. They both then headed toward the door, and left the room.

Soon enough, the two Pokemon were walking right next to each other. With the Pichu staring at his grade. "That's what I got wrong! A Charizard isn't a Dragon-Type, it's a...Flying-Type? Bolt is this correct?"

Bolt ignored Sparks. He still couldn't get over the fact that Sparks, his little brother, knew more than him. That was just...just not right. He was older then him. Much older...well, it's only three years, but it's still old enough that stuff like this shouldn't happen.

"I wonder if anyone else got an A+ at the school? Have you ever gotten an A+ before, Bolt?"

Bolt sighed and answered the Pichu. "I've...gotten close to one." He replied.

"I still can't believe it! I did it! I did it! I did it!" Sparks said jumping up and down.

Oh, why did he answer that question. Now Sparks will never stop rubbing it in!

"I wonder what Mom and Dad will say!"

Stop! Just stop!

"They'll be so happy for me!"

"Just ignore him Bolt." He thought to himself. "You can do this, it's just a grade. A stupid grade."

"Hey, can I ride on your back?"

Now that is an question that Bolt couldn't ignore.

"No." He answered, trying his best not to sound angry. His little brother just got a better grade that he could never get no matter how hard he tried. There was no way he'd let Sparks ride on his back!

That be way too embarrassing, especially if anyone saw him.

"Lets just go home and have dinner." The Luxio said a little louder then he had to.

"Okay Bolt." His little brother said. "I just can't wait for tonight!"

Bolt sighed, it's just a grade, it couldn't be that big of a deal. He was sure that their parents wouldn't make a big deal out of it. He was sure of it. So sure.

"I'm so proud of you sweetie!" A female Luxray said at a dinner table.

"Same here Champ! You know, I also got that problem wrong when I was a kid too." A male Raichu said as he took a drink of water. "It's actually said that Mew didn't think they were strong enough to be Dragon-Types, so she told Arceus to make them into Flying-Types."

"Really, Dad?" Sparks asked.

"Maybe, but I wouldn't be surprised if it was true! I seen lots of old writing from Pokemon that lived before us." Raichu said.

Everyone at the dinner table let out a small laugh, except for Bolt. Who just sat on his chair, toying with his berries.

No one would make a big deal out of it he had said to himself. Oh boy, he was SO wrong! Ever since they got home, that was the only thing they talked about! His amazing grades! It's not even one-hundred percent! Now that would be something to talk about! Bolt could only imagine the spotlight Sparks would get from that!

The Female Luxray noticed her son in a mood, and not wanting him to be left out of the conversation she says, "You should also be proud of yourself Bolt, now you can have a nice summer vacation too."

Bolt also notices his mothers plans and uses his chance to change the subject. "Ya, and also there was another bunch of wild Pokemon at the school today!"

The Raichu smiled. "Were you able to use the Thunderbolt like how I taught you?"

"Yep! You wouldn't believe the look on that Pokemon's face!" Bolt replied.

"Yep! Cause that's how you do it the Amazing Explorer Devin's Way!" The Raichu said in a slight dramatic pose.

His wife sweets, "Devin, dear. Really?" The Luxray says.

"Right, sorry, The Amazing Lina. " He says with a wink. He then sits back in his chair.

"So, do you have plans of summer other than being a mailman, Bolt?" Lina asked her oldest son.

"Not really." He says, "I just plan on going to the summer break party tomorrow after my shift."

"That's good, just make sure you don't do anything stupid because me and your father won't be here tomorrow."

"Yes Mom." The Luxio answers.

Sparks then gets a little nervous and clears his throat. "Something wrong, Sparks?" The Luxray asks.

"Well Mom, aren't you going to ask me what I would like to do during the summer?"

This makes Bolt raise his eyebrow. What could Sparks want to do for his summer break? He was scared to know.

"Oh, sorry." His mother said. "What would you like to do for the summer, Sparks?"

Sparks takes a breath and starts to drum the table. "I want to go see Treasure Town!"

Bolt then starts to choke on his food and almost passes out. His two parents are surprised and look at each other. But then they all stare back at Sparks, which starts to make him feel a little worried.

Sparks feels like he should add a bit more. "I...well, Mrs. Clefairy said I could do great things. And because Dad is friends with the Guildmaster over there, I thought that...maybe I could see the town for the summer and see if I could learn a few more things so that I can be an explorer like you Dad."

...

Sparks, noticing the silence, starts to drop his ears and sits back in his chair. "It was just a thought, I don't plan on going there right now. But I thought it would be cool if I could be like you Dad."

Bolt can't help but smile. He had never, in his life, seen Sparks so worried. Now that can hopefully mute Sparks for the entire meal so that he can finally-

"It has been a while since I've seen Wigglytuff." Dad says. Everyone's ears go up. "I guess I could take you there sometime in the summer. It has been a while since I got out of this town."

"What!?" Bolt exclaims. But he takes a moment to realize that he had just said that out loud, instead of just thinking it. Everyone looks at him. Great, NOW he gets all the attention. Bolt bites his tongue and tries his best to come up with an excuse. "Sorry, I'm just surprised. Won't you need to watch our town?" He says.

"The town can survive just fine without me for a bit. Besides, it'll be after all those long and boring meetings tomorrow."

"Devin!" Lina cried.

"Come on, don't say it like you don't think the same way. I know you don't really care for them as well, Lina." She blushed as her husband continues, "Tell you what, Sparks, if everything goes well there and we have some free time. I think I'd take you there."

"REALLY?!" Sparks cried. That was enough for Bolt. He takes a step away from the table and asks, "Could I be excused?"

Lina looks at Bolt for a moment, knowing the reason why he wants to leave. Still, she answers with a, "Yes, you may."

"Thanks." Bolt says and then walk away for the dinner table and toward his room faster than normal, and his mother knew why.

Bolt walked down the hallway and opened the door to his room. It's a nice cave like place with a few pictures hanging on the walls, mostly of himself and his family, a small window that looks into the sun above the forest, and a nice big nest in the corner. Bolt closes the door a little harder than regular and walks straight into his bed.

"It's not fair!" Bolt growled. "I wasn't able to go to Treasure Town, heck, I almost wasn't able to go to that party tomorrow! But for some reason, Sparks can just take the spotlight and say and do whatever he wants!" Electric starts to build up on his fur. "I'm the oldest! I should be able to at least do some of those things!"

He took a moment to think back to the times when he was a small Shinx, back when it was just him, no Pichu to watch, no Pichu that endlessly talked, no Pichu that would seem to get better treatment than him, no Pichu to ask him hundreds of times to do everything he wanted, and NO Pichu to put on his back!

Just. No. Annoying. Little. Brother.

Bolt was just thinking about how unfair it all was when he heard someone knock on his door.

Bolt turned toward it to see his mother come out of it with a worried face.

Great, now Mom knew that he was mad. As she approached Bolt she walked near his nest and looked at him.

"Bolt, are you okay?" She asked.

"Ya Mom, I'm fine." Bolt fibbed. However, she wasn't buying it. The look in her caring eyes proved it.

"Bolt, you're normally relieved, or glad on the last day of school. But today you've been acting quiet and a little...grouchy." She then stops. "It's because of Spark's grade isn't it?"

Bolt says nothing, and turns his head away from her. The Luxray lets out a sigh and walks toward the window. "Bolt, I know it can be hard having to share your life with Sparks at times, especially at school. But could you just calm down a little?"

"I am calm." He fibbed again. Again, she wasn't buying it. And she gave Bolt that look.

"Bolt, I can see that a part of your nest is burned from electricity." Bolt looked down and saw that the edge closest to him was a little dark. DANG IT! She was right.

He then got up to face her, and said, "But Mom, you don't know what it's like to have your little brother go with you to school! I can't hang out with my friends as much as I could, I have to do things for Sparks, and he never stops talking! Ever since he's gotten into school with me, I've felt like that I've had half of my life ripped straight from me while Sparks can somehow have whatever he wants! It's just not fair!"

"Bolt!" His mother said firmly with some electric sparks appearing on her. Bolt froze and gulped. His mother was never mad, she was always kind and understanding, but mad? That's a first.

She, however, realizes this and takes a breath in and calms down into more of a serious pose.

"Bolt, sometimes life won't be fair, and I mean that in the nicest way." Bolt groaned and turned away from her. "Bolt! Sometimes new things happen in your life that seem unfair like growing up, having a family, or little brothers getting whatever they want. And the best thing to do is to welcome the change."

She pauses and tries to find out what to say next. "Bolt, one day, a bigger change is going to happen, and when that happens you will have to drop that ego of yours you got ever since you've evolved! You're a smart kid, and I want you to be a kind one too. So please, just try to push that ego down a little and give Sparks his chance. It's wrong to hate your brother and you need to see how you can like him again. Could you just try it? For me?"

What could he say now? His mother was not only making fair points but now she was telling him to do one thing. But...but he didn't want change, he didn't even have an ego, did he? And does Mom even know how hard it would be to like Sparks!? He wanted to do things without Sparks in his life!

...But...

Bolt slowly turned around to face his mother. He then looked down to the ground and sighed. "I'll try." He said.

"No Bolt, you need to promise me that you'll try."

Bolt let out a slight groan. "I...promise." Bolt's mom then smiles and gives him a large hug, and while Bolt wasn't into hugs ever since his 'ego' happened, he didn't want to make his mother any more mad than she already was, so he allowed it. Besides, it felt nice to know that his mom wasn't mad anymore.

After she stopped hugging, she turned back toward the door. But she then stopped to tell Bolt one more thing. "Bolt, you have to learn how to change. You got that?"

"Yes, Ma'am." Bolt says as he lays back down in his nest.

"Your lesson will start tomorrow. I'll have Sparks go with you when you go to deliver mail." She said as she exited the Luxio's room.

"Yes, Mo-wait, WHAT?!"
