"Ladies and gentlemen, will you please stand?
With every guitar string scar on my hand
I take this magnetic force of a man to be my lover
My heart's been borrowed and yours has been blue
All's well that ends well to end up with you"
-Taylor Swift "Lover"
Severus could not believe he was getting married today. Minerva had happily agreed to officiate and allowed them to use Hogwarts as their venue. Severus was pacing nervously in a corridor as he waited to marry the love of his second life. The last few days at Spinners End had been lonely since Hermione had been staying with Harry and Draco writing her vows and preparing for the ceremony. In regards to his own vows, he had not written a word. He had too many thoughts and could not organise them into coherent sentences which meant that he would have to make them up as he went along.
Severus was not paying much attention to his surroundings when Minerva startled him. She chuckled softly "Severus dear, it is nearly time. Hermione has arrived and is getting ready as we speak. Are you ready? Have you written your vows?"
Severus shook his head. "I can not think of what to say. I will have to just think of something while I am waiting for her to walk down the aisle to me."
Minerva smiled at him. "I am sure you will think of something. It is very unlike you to not be prepared."
Severus huffed in annoyance. "Well, it is not every day that you get brought back to life and find love."
Minerva smirked. "I suppose not. I am quite happy for you. You certainly deserve to live a happy life."
Severus was speechless for a moment. "Thank you, Minnie. I do not know how I got so lucky. I guess I should be thanking Dumbledore for his ingenious idea of creating a horcrux-like spell to store my essence into an object."
Minerva nodded thoughtfully. "Ah, yes. Dumbledore was always a sneaky bloke. He would always try to find a way to one up the magical system." She smiled fondly.
Severus thought for a moment until he spoke. "I think I know what my vows will be."
Minerva smiled. "Oh, lovely. I best be off to get myself and the Great Hall ready for the ceremony."
An hour later, the Great Hall was decorated for a wedding celebration. At the last minute, it had been agreed upon that James, Lily, Remus and Sirius would be attending much to Severus' chagrin. They had promised to behave themselves. Severus was not sure that it was possible for them to not ruin his day, considering their sordid history. Everyone was in their places in the Great Hall. Music was filling the hall. Severus, Minnie and Draco were waiting patiently for Harry to walk Hermione down the aisle. Everyone stood when the elegant music changed to David Bowie and Severus shot a glare at Sirius who was smirking at him. He heard sniggers coming from Narcissa and Lily. Surprisingly, Severus just rolled his eyes and let it go when he became distracted by Hermione and Harry walking down the aisle. Hermione had a simple white dress on and Severus was in awe of her beauty. He kept staring at her as Harry gave Hermione away to him and went to stand on the other side of Minnie. Everyone sat back down as Minnie gestured to do so.
Minnie cleared her throat before she started to speak. "Hello, everyone. Welcome to Hogwarts on this happy occasion. As you all know, I have known Severus since he was a kid. When he was a student here, he clashed with those mischievous Marauders. He had not been become the person I know now until Lily's tragic death." She paused looking at Lily. "He had a vicious tongue on him and spells to match it. It is hard to believe how things have changed. How Severus has changed for the good all because of the power of love. We are here to celebrate his new found love." She smiled at the witch in front of her. "Hermione here, like Lily is a muggle-born, is the brightest witch of her age. She always was trying to prove herself throughout her Hogwarts years because of where she came from. There was not one thing she could not figure out and we all know Harry and Ron benefited from it." She chuckled softly. "It only seems fitting that Severus found someone to match his intellect and cleverness. Now, Severus and Hermione have written some vows they would like to share with you all."
Severus swallowed nervously while taking Hermione's hands in his. "My life has not been the best or easiest for me. I was beyond miserable so I made everyone else feel the way I felt. That is no excuse for what I have done while under Tom Riddle's thrall. I was horrid especially to those who never deserved to be treated like they were nothing to the world. For that, I am sorry. When I first met Hermione, I thought she was an insufferable know-it-all but as I got to know her since my return I realised that I secretly admired how she would always fight and would never give up no matter the odds. And we all know that Harry and Ron would not have survived first year without her." Everyone chuckled. "It is hard to believe that I am standing here before you. I never thought that I would ever get another chance at life or love. I always thought I was undeserving of happiness because of everything I have done throughout my life. I was a monster until Dumbledore saw an opportunity to use my vulnerability to his advantage. In that moment, everything changed. It seemed unnoticeable at the time but nothing was the same after pleading for help. Just the thought of losing Lily, the last little bit of humanity left in me, was terrifying to me. Unfortunately, I did lose her but I regained my humanity once again. I was so resentful of Harry when he arrived at Hogwarts because he looked like the best and the worst parts of my past. Having him here staring at me every day brought so many emotions, mostly vile ones. Despite my thoughts and emotions, every year I did my part to keep him alive to become the saviour he was destined to be. Unfortunately, I did not survive the war but because of Dumbledore and his scheming I was brought back to life. I could not be more thankful. I feel more myself than I have in decades. I have had the pleasure of getting to know Hermione since my return. I do not know how she fell for a hapless git like myself but I am the luckiest wizard in the world to have her love surrounding me. I love you with everything that I am. I can not wait to call you my wife, my equal." Severus teared up when he looked at Hermione who had tears running down her face.
Hermione attempted to compose herself before speaking. "When I got my Hogwarts letter in the post, it was the most wonderful thing to happen because I always felt out of place. When I got there, other students insulted me and I felt like I did at muggle school once again. Like I would never fit in anywhere no matter what. Then I became friends with Harry and Ron and everything suddenly felt right. I still got picked on but I had found my people. My friendship with them has had its ups and downs like anything in life but I do not think I would have become the person I am now without them. I know I have saved their arses many a time but they have saved mine too. As the years went by, our bond grew stronger. Unfortunately, a lot has happened since we met. We had to fight in a war while we were still kids. It was unfair to ask us to fight at our age. We lost many allies, Sev included. It was devastating. Since the war ended, it has been difficult to pick up the pieces of who we were before all of this. It felt hopeless at times until we found out that we could bring back Sev. I thought I would be forever in a rut of making the same mistake day in and day out. My friends were finding their own happinesses. Harry found Draco. Ginny found Luna. Ron found Lavender again. By some miracle, Narcissa brought back Harry's parents, Remus and Sirius so Harry could have his family back as an early wedding present. I did not have anyone. I know that sounds silly but it is how I felt until Sev was standing in front of me after reading the incantation. All the noise went away and I just felt peace. At the time, I did not understand why I was feeling that way. After many conversations with Sev, I realised why I was finally at peace. I had finally found the one who I could be myself with. It was so overwhelming at first but I soon leaned into that feeling. Sev, you are more than I could have hoped for in a partner. I love you with my whole being and I can not wait to be your wife, your equal." Hermione looked at Severus lovingly.
There was not a dry eye in the Great Hall. Even Sirius and James had red eyes.
Minnie was a bit choked up after hearing their vows to one another. "As we all see, Severus and Hermione love each other so I am sure there will be no objections to their union. And even if there were, I would not allow such a travesty. I would banish those individuals from the castle." There was a soft chuckle throughout the Great Hall. "We all approve of this brilliant match so I am happy to say you may kiss your witch, Severus."
Hermione and Severus kissed and there was loud cheering all around them. Minnie finally finished the ceremony by saying "I pronounce you husband and wife. Please give a warm welcome to Mr. and Mrs. Snape." Everyone clapped loudly.
As Severus and Hermione walked down the aisle hand in hand, everyone congratulated them. Harry hugged Hermione tightly. Draco hugged Severus. Narcissa hugged Severus.
There was a small feast at Hogwarts after the ceremony. To Severus' relief, no one made any speeches. Each person came up to him and Hermione congratulating them and chatting for a bit. They never once let go of each other's hands and would give each other small smiles every so often.
Sirius and James were talking animatedly at one another which was always a bad sign. They were plotting something. Suddenly, the Great Hall was filled with loud music. Everyone recognised the music immediately. The artist who Sirius was always obsessed with while growing up. David Bowie.
Sirius piped up. "It is not wedding without some dancing!" He laughed and pulled Remus into his arms to dance with him.
James stopped the music. "Woah, woah! Sirius, you are forgetting something. It is not your turn to dance with Remus, you bloody fool! If you want a first dance, you need to put a ring on Remus' finger." He chuckled and changed the music to Simon & Garfunkel's Bridge over Troubled Water. "You two lovebirds start dancing." Severus pulled Hermione with him and they started to dance together. Hermione laid her head on Severus' chest and closed her eyes. After the song finished, Sirius changed the music back to David Bowie to no one's surprise.
After dancing for more than an hour, both Severus and Hermione said their thank yous and goodbyes. They apparated back to Spinners End.
Hermione pulled Severus to her and kissed him deeply. He moaned into her mouth and pulled her into him further. He picked her up and carried her up the stairs into their bedroom. She pushed him against the wall as he unzipped her dress. Hermione loosened her grip on him and let her dress fall to the floor leaving her only in her knickers. Severus stared in awe and slowly pulled her back to him and kissed her with everything he was. He softly caressed her and she whimpered "Sev…please.." He pulled away to undress and Hermione watched his every move with hungry eyes. Severus pushed her slowly back until the back of her knees hit the bed. He gently pushed her onto to the bed. He hovered over her placing soft kisses on her face and neck. His hands explored the plains of her soft skin as she caressed every part of him she could. She softly moaned his name. Severus started kissing down her body and enjoyed every moan coming out of her as he explored more. He looked up at Hermione. "Love, are you sure?" She nodded. "Tell me if I hurt you." She gave another nod. Severus pulled her knickers off and kissed her hip bone lovingly. He slowly inserted one finger into her all the while watching her reaction to make sure she was not in any pain. She did not wince once as he went in and out. Hermione moaned. "More, Sev." He inserted a second finger and eventually added a third. She kissed him with so much love and moaned. "I'm ready. Please, Sev. Bloody hell make love to me already." Severus chuckled softly. "Love, your wish is my command." He lined himself up and slowly entered her. "Is this okay?" He asked. Hermione nodded. He pushed into her further and moaned. "Move." She demanded. They moved in unison and moaned and kissed until they lost control as Hermione clenched around him and saw stars as they came together. Hermione and Severus were panting and trying to catch their breaths. Severus slipped out of her and laid on his back. Hermione cuddled up to him putting her head on his chest. He placed a soft kiss on her forehead and pulled her closer to him. They were silent for awhile basking in each other. Severus turned to look at Hermione. "How do you feel?" She smiled at him. "I feel loved, Sev." Hermione gave him a soft kiss. Moments later, both had fallen asleep.
Hours later, Hermione and Severus woke up. They looked at each other and smiled widely. They stayed in bed all day. It was the one time she allowed Severus to call on his house elf to make meals for them. Throughout the day, they made love several more times.
In the evening, Hermione sighed contentedly. "Sev, is this what it will feel like for the rest of our days together?"
Severus kissed her softly. "Yes. It always will, love."
