Virtuous Son
Chapter Three: The Journey Begins
After the incident, Izumi took the time to teach Justin in more forms of combat as well as alchemy techniques. It took Justin a while to understand the movement, and several times being knocked down, but he did eventually learn the more advanced move sets, Izumi decided it was time to teach him Alchemy, especially utilizing the art in combat, and he quickly picked up on the basics, starting with using a transmutation circle, before over the next month, Justin soon started using alchemy without one.
Outside in the backyard of the house, Izumi watched Justin set up his transmutation circle, a few logs on his right.
"Remember what I taught you." The woman said sternly. Make something out of this pile of wood."
Nodding, Justin put his hands together before then planting his palm near the circle, energy flowing through his hands before the pile of wood started to deconstruct before reconstructing into a rocking chair.
"Well done." Izumi nodded. "Now, try it again, but this time, without the circle."
Nodding, Justin focused his energy as he clapped his palms together before placing them against the ground, the rocking chair then deconstruction into small wooden statues of what looked small soldiers.
"Well done." Izumi smiled proudly. "You've done well in learning the basics."
"Thanks, mama." Justin said, smiling.
Izumi turned towards the house, when Justin spoke, "You knew I was attacked didn't you?"
Izumi sighed, "Yeah, I did."
"That's why you and papa weren't in bed." Justin said. "Why though?"
Izumi turned back to him, then walked up and stood at his side, looking out at the horizon, "Have you ever wanted to know where you came from?"
Justin nodded, and Izumi continued, "Soon enough, some elements of your past will be coming back for you, either good or bad. Like that night, when that psycho came looking for you, I wanted to see if you were strong enough to face those challenges."
She placed a hand on the boy's shoulder, "And from what I've seen of the progress you've made, I know that you're just about ready. Just keep following my lead and you'll get there, okay?"
Justin thought it over for a moment before nodding with a smile, "Okay, mama!"
"Just like that?" Izumi questioned. "You're not angry with me?"
"You're not always gonna be around to protect me." Justin said. "I was confused, at first, but I now you'd never let anything bad happen to me intentionally. I will do everything in my power to make you proud!"
Izumi took her time taking it all in, before a smile crept on her face, tears threatening to fall, "Stop growing up so damn fast, you little brat."
The two quickly hugged before heading back inside for dinner.
After another week, it was time for Justin to head out on his own. After he had packed some necessities, Justin stood at the train station with Izumi and Sig as the train came to a stop.
"And remember to not spend all that money on one place, understand?" Izumi stated, sticking the wallet into Justin's pocket. "And remember to call as often as possible."
"I will, mama." Justin nodded. "Although, I'm not sure where to start."
"I'd start in Reole first." Izumi suggested. "I remember hearing about a church. Maybe they'll have answers there." She then pulled a photo from her pocket. "And while you're at it, I want you to keep an eye out for these two."
Looking at the photo, Justin saw it was of two young boys, both looking rather young, at least between ten and eleven, and with blonde hair and golden eyes.
"Who are they?" Justin asked.
"Alphonse and Edward Elric." Izumi said. "Those two no doubt grew, since I last saw them, no doubt having gotten wrapped up in the State Military, but they're like sons to me." She then gave Justin the photo. "Find them and let them know that 'Mama Curtis' sent you; they won't think twice about taking you along."
"Okay!" Justin nodded.
After giving his adoptive parents a farewell hug, Justin boarded the train, waving to them as the train soon took off, full speed ahead. Entering his compartment, Justin looked at the mark on his hand, a determined look on his face.
"I will find the truth!" He said to himself. "I know it!"
"There he goes."
Off in the distance, watching the train depart from the station, a young man stood at the edge of the cliff, watching the train leave. The young man in question was tall and muscular with short, spiky, black hair that was kept slicked back, as well as having a subtle widow's peak. He had purple eyes with thin, cat-like pupils. He wore mostly leather, including a short black jacket with a fur collar, black pants and shoes with upward tips.
"So that's the guy that tangled with Envy, huh?" He mused.
"Think Envy's done for, Greed?" The hunched man asked.
"Nah, I don't think so, Bido." The man called Greed replied. "Envy went through worse; he'll be back to causing trouble soon enough."
Watching the train disappear over the horizon, Greed grinned, revealing sharp teeth.
"I have a feeling we're gonna meet this guy again real soon~"
And here's the new chapter! Finally, we're moving on to the main plot! I apologize for how short it is. Besides the length, I'm doing the best I can to make sure everything flows well.
Anyways, not much to say, except I hope to see you guys in future chapters, I've got a lot planned! Reviews are greatly appreciated!
