Gray counted the Compies he saw hopping out of the bushes. Small, green dinosaurs the size of Chickens. They stood on their hind legs like the larger predators of the woods did. However, the more time Grey spent studying them, he had learned everything about their behavior. He had noticed that like the Troodons that he had seen, they were highly social hunters. There was hardly any instance where a Compy was seen without its pack. And this wasn't just a hunting technique. It was clear that these animals had heard the phrase "safety in numbers."

In the time he, Zach, Jan and Zia spent together near the valley, there was lots of time spent admiring the wildlife surrounding them. Herbivore and Predator alike. To deal with her trauma, Jan continued to sketch every species she could find in her notepad. Zia, being the adult in this scenario, was there to converse with her to help sooth her nerves.

She watched as the young adult sat on a long watching something large in front of her. At least eight Gallimimus' were scattered around the grassy area before her. The two-legged creatures chattered almost bird-like as they walked around like Ostriches. Some of them noticed her while others were more focused on chowing down on the grass at their feet.

"So, ya like to draw huh?"

Jan sighed as she added the detail to one of the three Galli's she was drawing. "Basically how me and Gray met. He and Zach pretty much became famous after 2015. He gave me tips on what they looked like after he saw them on the Monorail."

"They seem pretty dopey, don't they?" Zia said as she sat next to her. "But don't startle them up close. See how they act like Ostriches? They still got that powerful kick like them. And don't get me started on the Dracorexes. When I hear that name, I think of some… unearthly fusion between a T-Rex and a Dragon. Pachu's and Styggies are one thing, but this one has both horns and a dome-head all at once."

"You know a lot about them, don't you?" Jan asked.

"You might say that." Zia answered. "After the Lockwood incident, the DPG was put into overtime. They had a lot more to learn now that these suckers were out and about. What Grant wouldn't give to see a place like this."

Now as far as reactions go, they only matter when people are there to hear. Neither of the girls knew that Greay had looked up from watching the Compies to look at them. He walked over to them slowly and knelt down to them. "Uh, did you say Grant? As in Alan Grant?"

"Uh, yeah." Zia nodded. "He was with us when all the business with Biosyn started. Same with Malcolm and Sattler."

"Ian Malcolm? Ellie Sattler?" Gray asked in bewilderment. With these names mentioned, he seemed like a kid at Christmas. Well, that was probably a bad choice of words, given the past circumstances…

"Oh wow…" He said. "They're legends in the Paleontology field. Jan and I follow them online."

"We've learned everything about their time at Jurassic Park." Jan said. "That's why Gray wanted to go to Jurassic World in the first place."

"What were they like?" Grey asked.

Zia sighed as she looked up. "What weren't they like, is what you should be asking. Grant: Dusty. Sattler: Smells like a stay-at-home mom. You'd never guess that they were at the first park, like you said."

"Does he still have feelings for her?"

Zia gave a snort at Jan's question. "How'd you guess? All the time I spent with them, they hardly did anything but catch up with each other. Except for the parts when we ran for our lives."

"You're lucky, Zia." Gray sighed. "Dr. Grant's been my hero since I was twelve. Mom and Dad didn't let me learn about Jurassic Park until I was old enough. And after that-"

The sun was shining, bur the noise that caught their attention almost sounded like thunder. Not a cloud alive their heads, but the booming sound made them think otherwise. The Gallies raised their heads in alarm in a chicken-like fashion. Other animals merely elected to ignore it.

Zia knew this roar as well as the two teenagers did. She looked towards the edge of the forest, where the Compies were scattering about. She turned back to the three gathered around her.

"We have to see this."

The tired Rex lumbered through the woods. Her massive brown body pushing past the trees. The sound of her footsteps shook the earth. Leaves fell from the trees from the effect.

Her massive feet crushing g every branch she came across. Her skin was tough, so there was no possibility of splinters. Through the leaves above, she could feel the rays of the sun breaking through.

She knew what awaited beyond the trees ahead. She could hear the water running. As she pushed past the next trunks ahead of her, she saw the shallow parts of the river. It wasn't entirely thin, but enough for her to swim in.

She breathed a heavy sigh as she gazed at the blue water before her. There were fish swimming around in plain sight. She soon found that she was not alone here. As she approached the river, she saw that a Suchomimus had arrived on the scene. Those long, narrow jaws reminded her of someone. A memory of a face she would like to forget.

She was just glad that this creature wasn't the one she was thinking of. She watched as it dipped those long jaws into the water. It grabbed three fish from the cool refreshing river and swallowed them down its gullet.

It was strange. The Fish-eater was in the presence of something bigger than him, but he hardly seemed to mind. Instead, it focused itself on whatever fish was closest to its maw. She thought it was peculiar at first, but then she remembered that she wasn't on the island anymore. Not the island she was created on, the world she once knew. The creatures she once ruled over had no leader anymore. No hierarchy to fear.

She bent her head down to the cool water and opened her mighty jaws. The water poured into her gullet and down her throat, cooling off her weary tongue. A low growl rumbled in her throat with contented satisfaction. Birds sang above the trees, being the only sound to be heard among the two therapods. Her mighty tail swished back and forth as she watched the Piscivore duck its head underwater, pulling out another fish in its teeth. It made her wonder why it was that the flyers she knew were in the woods behind her had been following her.

Ever since she had escaped along with the others, a handful of the flyers had elected to stay with her. It was weird, she thought. No matter how many times she tried to chase them off, they always came back to her. Just like the three young ones she had taken in.

Tyrannosaurs were not ones to adopt. They usually had their own children. But these three she had met on Sorna were all alone. The last Tyrannosaurs who chose to stay in the desolate island. They never stayed too far away from her, even when she was healing from her poisonous bite. She sighed deeply as she swallowed her mouthful of water. She was content with-

The sound caught her ears as quickly as it came. It was a sound she remembered well. She turned her head to see the face of Ahab emerging from the forest. The Spinosaurus still had those ghost-like eyes, just like he did when he threw her from the cliff.

She growled in defense as the aquatic therapod snarled back. It was a sound that would remind anyone of a crocodile. To our ears, the human's ears, we would hear nothing but defensive snarls and growls. But among the world of Dinosaurs, the creatures communicated like we.

"Oh. So you're still alive, are you?" Ahab said with a sneer. This was one of the few times that the ghastly illness had not plagued his mind.

"Surprised, are you?" Rexy asked with a hint of sass in her voice. Despite being one of the oldest animals originating from Nublar, she still had her confidence that kept her at the top of the food chain. "For what reason would YOU of all creatures have to be lurking around here?"

"The very same reason you have, false queen." Ahab snarled back. "I have a purpose I have to fulfill. I am here to take the throne that is up for grabs."

"Ha!" Rexy Bellowed. "Forgive my rudeness, but I believe I am a little slow in the current events of civilization. It seems I missed the announcement that the current alpha predator was dead. Last time I checked, I was still standing.

What makes you think that you could take my position? Last time, you got lucky. You had that stuff in your head to help you win that battle. Speaking of which, are any of your masters around? They pulling your strings still?"

Some animal hardly show emotion at all besides peacefulness and defense. But Ahab's face went from taunting to fierce in a matter of seconds. "I can assure you, old lady, that I follow no orders. Those tiny creatures are the size of my clawtips. I could end them all on the spot if my mind weren't always in their own grasp. I've conquered everything in my old homeland. From the brute force of the charging Triceratops, to the whipping tail of the Mamenchisaurus. I've even made short work of your kind."

"Not all Tyrannosaurs are alike, fool." Rexy lowered her head in defense. Her yellow eyes narrowed at him, locking with his ghost-like ones. "You'll find me nothing like what you've faced in the past. You'll find that I've a lot more to fight for than just territory or food."

"That certainly won't last long, old female." The Spinosaurus said daringly. "You will fall by my jaws before the endgame comes."

"What endgame?"

"The humans have spoken much about it. Things will be heating up between them all soon. Dinosaurs will not be the only ones who suffer from it. They will destroy themselves eventually. Too bad you will not be around to see it…"

His attack came faster than Rexy anticipated. She felt his jaws clamp themselves around her neck before she had time to get out of the way. She quickly pulled herself from his grasp and faced him again. A snarl escaped her mouth as she felt the blood run down her neck. Her baggy skin had been cut again for the first time in years. And that was enough to open them. The scars she received from fighting that white monstrosity all those years ago.

There was so much that a woman could take, but if that woman is a 50 ton prehistoric monster, all gloves are off. Even when those gloves are really, really tiny. She charged at the sail-backed contender with opened jaws, to which the crocodilian blocked with his massive sail.

Ahab them lunged forward at Rexy and shook the earth below his feet. Rexy hit him like a locomotive. Her head hitting him square in the chest. His large claws raked across her back as the two engaged in about fifteen seconds of pushing and shoving. Each one trying to bite the other. Even with his long claws, Ahab could not grab onto Rexy's back from that angle with those fangs of his.

He stepped back from the raging Rex and slashed her across the muzzle with his claws. He felt her blood in his mouth after ripping into her neck like tissue paper. It was a thrill to see her blood. It made him feel more motivated to fight her. He had not killed a Rex in so long. When he was done killing her, slaying the three juveniles in her care would be all too easy.

Rexy, however, would never let that happen. She saw her chance before her and knew she had to take it. She opened her maw and clamped down on Ahab's exposed neck. He screeched in surprise as he swung his claws around, hoping to hit her off. They never once impacted with her skin as she swung her head back, toppling the bigger therapod onto his side. That sail was invincible. Hardly anything could penetrate it.

Ahab staggered back to his feet, but was met with a blow like a runaway train. He looked back up at Rexy, who was now in reach again. He wasted no time in biting down on her maw, disorienting her briefly. She shook him off but was met with his fangs again, this time searing her side. She bellowed in pain as her adversary brutally sent her rolling into a tree, sending it to the ground.

The Spinosaurus screeched at her as he flailed his claws at her. Soon, he would be met with another charge from her. He could see the determination in her eyes as she bit into his neck once again. Try as he might, he had no chance of getting out of her way before she brought her teeth back into this. The Suchomimus had wisely disappeared long before the fight took place. The infected therapod had been given a boost in muscles since he was given that strange serum. But even he knew when things were getting more heated. He could feel her grip on his neck tightening. His legs gave away underneath himself, causing him to collapse back onto his side. He gasped for air as she pressed him down onto the ground with her foot.

At the start of time, these two had become enemies at first impression. In the months before the great nemesis came to earth, the Tyrannosaur ruled the earth. The hairy king made sure to keep the balance by hunting only what she needed while keeping the smaller predators in check. Widely respected across the land, the great Rex was the Queen of everything on land, in the sea, and in the air. That was, until the stranger came.

The Blue-skinned monstrosity came from across the sea that fateful day. His sail raised through the surface like the fin of a shark. But this was a fin that made even sharks scared to be in the water. The first thing he had done when coming to the shore of this new land was to attack the strongest beast there. The apex predator.

It was a bloody battle. One worse than the one that had just taken place here. Eventually, the blood of the tide pool was painted red by the new body that inhabited it. The massive throat torn open by those blade-like teeth. The small Cephalaspis that had yet to arrive on land bided their time. They watched as the massive Spinosaur followed his defeated opponent's tracks to her kingdom. In the time that followed, all competition to his power was nulled.

Everything that ate leaves was fair game to him. Unlike the last ruler, the invasive ruler disrespected everything the order stood for. He became far too greedy. Take, take, take. With the herbivores becoming scarce, the vegetation grew beyond belief. But they would not have time to grow any further. For the fire burning through the sky…towards the earth…

Her foot roughly left his side. Her mouth left his neck. There had been a moment of silence between the two ancient rivals. It was clear that they were reliving the same memory. Rexy's death to Ahab's incineration. Perhaps that was why she had stopped from killing him. Far too painful a memory. She glared down at him and never said a word. Ahab merely scowled back and got back to his feet.

"Next time, only one will walk away." He grumbled. "That… I promise"

Rexy stared at him as he disappeared into the foliage. Her skin throbbed and burned from the injuries she had sustained in the battle. She was glad that she had fought him off for now. This time, she had not been thrown off of a cliff, and that was all that mattered to her. She knelt down near the river as the sun's rays bathed her wounds.

Above her head, the familiar screeching and warbles of the flyers caught her ears. She did not wish to open her eyes, however. From where she was laying, she was absolutely comfortable. And she was perfectly content with them accompanying her. Even if their voices became annoying after a while.

"Round two: Rexy." Zia said. She and the three young adults had just watched an earth-shaking battle between the two largest animals on the planet.

"So this is where she's been the whole time," Gray said as he watched the giant creature rest.

"Wait, did you say round two?"

"That's right," Zia answered Jan's question. "Two apex predators. No doubt they have a mutual hatred of each other. When you have two big predators in one place, only one will rule."

"If you ask me," Zach said. "I'd rather be here than in society with all those jerks running everything."

As if it were a cruel act of irony, a familiar screech could be heard. The four of them looked across the big clearing where the fight took place. There, they saw some familiar places. The unpleasant sight of the Troodons had emerged from the underbrush after hearing the sound of large roars. No doubt they thought there would be a kill involved.

"Well, I suppose we should be grateful," Zia said as she watched the Troodons keeping their distance. "With Rexy and kids around, those things are ALL we gotta worry about."

If only they knew about the Giga on their trail…

Hey there Jurassic fans, it's me with another chapter. Here, we get a little more context on Rexy and Ahab's relationship. It's based on her relationship with the Giga in Dominion, but with a bit more development. Let's face it, we never saw much interaction between her and the Giga to make it matter. Here, Ahab is far more malicious. After taking over Pangea, he began to overhunt until there were little to no Herbivores left in his new kingdom anymore. Most were killed, and those who had survived his tyranny abandoned the land to find more peaceful homes before the Meteor fell.

Also, they have a setup similar to Godzilla and Kong. One round goes to Ahab, one goes to Rexy. One more round will decide who the ruler among Dinosaurs will be. Also, I will be setting up Fang the Giganotosaur's relentless pursuit of Zia and the kids. He'll have a much more major role thanj in the actual movie.

Anyways, that's all for this chapter. Be sure to leave a review for this chapter below, stay tuned for more, and Spare no expense!
