Episode 10: Playing games
Amanda woke up with a groan, the light harshly on her face through the curtains.
'Ugh, fell asleep on the couch again'
She slowly sat up from her twisted position on the couch and started to stretch. She made a satisfied sound once her back cracked. She stood up and headed to the bathroom so she could take a warm and relaxing shower. She closed the door behind her once she got in and took off her clothes. She turned on the water, set it to her desired temperature, and got in. She sighed in relief as the warm water hit her body.
As she began to caress her body with soap, she started to think about what Garnet said yesterday.
Flexibility. Love. Trust.
"What the fuck does that even mean", Amanda said out loud. She just decided to not dwell on it for right now and focus on other things. Once she was done, she turned off the water and got out. Wrapping herself in a towel she walked to her room to go pick out some clothes before she brushes her teeth.
(Mini time skip)
Once she picked out some clothes and brushed her teeth, she headed out the door to go sit on the beach. As she was walking on the boardwalk, she heard her phone ring. She checked who is was, and it was just steven. She answered the phone.
(On the phone)
Amanda: Hey steven
Steven: Hey amanda. I wanted to ask if you could come over and hang out today. We're playing video games.
Amanda: Sure, I can come over, I'll be there in a minute.
Steven: Thanks, bye!
(Call ended)
'Well, I guess I have something else to do instead of looking sad and upset'
She then began to make her way over to steven's house.
(Another mini time skip)
Once she made it to the door, she knocked. After a few minutes, amethyst came to open the door. "Yo, this better be the pizza I ordered-" She suddenly stopped mid-sentence and took a look at the person standing there. "Hey amethyst" Amanda said. Suddenly amethyst started to blush madly. "H-hey amanda. W-w-what are you d-doing here?" she asked. "I was invited over by steven to play video games. Oh, and your face looks as red as a tomato, are you okay?" amanda asked. "Y-yeah I'm fine, just the summer weather." "Yeah, it's hot, can I come in?" she asked. "Yeah." Amethyst said as she moved out of the way so amanda could walk in.
In reality, show amanda was grinning like a Cheshire cat from where she was standing outside. Amethyst remembered that time when show amanda kissed her. The only problem is, amethyst thinks that the original amanda kissed her, but neither or them need to know that. When amanda got in the house good, all she could see was steven hanging over garnet's tall hair and pearl in the kitchen making tea. "Hey steven" amanda said. Steven paused to game and hopped of garnet's hair to go hug amanda. Steven crashing into amanda waist, which made her stumble at bit. "You're here!" he said. "Yep, I'm here, like you asked." she said as she gently ruffled his hair. He let go and went back up to resume his game.
"Hi pearl." Amanda said. "Oh, hi amanda. Would you like some tea, it's peppermint." Pearl said. "Peppermint, my favorite. Yes please." "Peppermint is one of my favorites as well, but I mostly prefer chamomile, it tastes better than all the other ones if you get the right kind." Pearl said. "I might have to disagree on that" amanda playfully argued. "I'd be happy to get into a good old fashioned tea debate" Pearl playfully argued back. "Ughhh! Nerds." Amethyst sighed in a dramatic way while draping herself on the couch.
Amanda walked up the stairs and sat at the end of steven's bed, facing the tv. "Okay, what do want to play?" amanda asked. "Mario cart. I just got it yesterday." he said excitedly. "Oh yeah, I remember that game, I used to play it all the time with my parents." Amanda replied. He handed her a controller and they began to play, while Garnet just sat there and watched.
As they were driving and destroying opponents, amanda started to remember the times when she would play games with her parents, oh what fun that was.
(Flashback)
(Amanda is much younger in this flashback)
"Woah dad! How did you beat me?" amanda asked in shock. "I've been playing longer than you. It's called experience, one day you'll have some." Max said while patting her hair. "Honey, you've been using the same techniques and never switching up. One day she'll beat you in a game great at playing Mario cart just like her mother." Avery said while smiling at her husband and daughter. "Hey, the classics never go out of style." Max said in a fake flabbergasted tone. Avery and amanda could only roll their eyes.
(End flashback)
As amanda crossed the finish line on the last lap, steven sighed in defeat. "That was a good game. How are you able to play so well?" steven asked. "Me and my parents would always play together. As time flew by, I got better and better, eventually gaining experience." Amanda said. "Woah, cool."
They played games all morning until evening, with a small tea break in between.
(Time skip)
Amanda checked the time on her phone, and it was already evening. "Well, steven, I guess I better head out." "Aww, can't you play a little longer?" steven said. "Steven, I'm pretty sure that amanda has other things to do today." Garnet said in her smooth British voice. "It's okay steven. How about this, We'll play video games together at my house next week, If garnet's okay with it." She said as she looked at garnet silently asking if he could. She just nodded her head yes.
With that done, she gave one final hug to steven and said goodbye to the rest of the gems as well. As she was walking home, she started to wonder what she wanted to eat.
'I guess pizza would do'
She went to pick up a large pepperoni pizza and headed home.
(Mini time skip)
Once she entered how house, she set the pizza down on the counter and pulled out her phone to call her friends.
(On the phone)
Marcus: Wassup amanda.
Valentine: Hey amanda.
Amanda: Hey guys, I got a large pepperoni pizza ready to be shared. You down?
Marcus: Ugh, thank God. I was starting to starve over here.
Valentine: Sure.
Amanda: Well hurry up before it gets too cold.
Marcus: You got it.
(Call ended)
'Looks like we're having a pizza gathering'
Welp, this is the writer's first full chapter back. They told me that they wanted to go for a more fluff approach rather than gloomy. I must say, this different and cleaner writing style that they are using is neat. It doesn't look like a tv script anymore. I have no idea why they were so lazy to tell you all this themselves, but I guess that's what I'm here for today. They also said that they're still preparing for their ao3 account but stay tuned. So, that's all.
