Touch

Harvey's woken up by feathered touches trailing from his brows down to the bridge of his nose. Without opening his eyes, he asks Donna what she's doing.

"Nothing." She whispers as she continues the task. Tracing down the lines, moles, and wrinkles — all his perfect imperfections.

Feeling the gentle soothing touch, he lets her be. Soaking in the comfort and peace she brings. For years, he didn't just keep his feelings but also deprived her of the way she can show her affection, especially the physical one. Mostly confined in fixing ties, coats, and sometimes his hair.

Her palm and thumb are now caressing his cheek. "You don't know how much I wanted to do this whenever I tell you everything's gonna be okay." The revelation and her soft voice make his chest tingle with warmth. The gravity of Lily's passing and of the awaiting trial suddenly weighs lighter.

Oh, the effect she has on him.

"I wish you did." He mumbles, finally fluttering his lids open. She's at arm's length, lying on her side. A sweet angelic smile welcomes him right away. His lips curl up mirroring her expression.

The early light of dawn is starting to pour in, creating a perfect cast boasting her face. He sees from her gleaming eyes how much love she has for him as her thumb brushes over his lips. One that she peppered with a thousand kisses mere hours ago. Strawberry lip balm still stained his lips.

"You love me." She chuckles at his words. But deeply, Harvey's acknowledgment of her feelings for him makes her heart skip a beat. It feels good to have her feelings accepted because, she can finally show how much he loves him, no holds barred.

Yet in the sentimentality of it all, she raises a brow and shakes her head in reply, teasing him.

"If you say so." He snorts. "Let's go back to sleep. We've got a few more hours." He reminds her, gently pulling her to his chest. Fingers combing her red strands, the way she likes it, lulling her to sleep. He soothes her too, knowing the chaos at the firm strains her as well.

He's going up against Mike and Samantha. He wants to win. But for the first time, he wasn't afraid of losing.

At the end of the day, he has her to share the outcome with.
