Chapter 12:

Fire Rescue!

Meanwhile, some Pronghorns were grazing on some grass while Dusk was just watching them minding his business. One Pronghorn lifted its head, feeling something was wrong and started running off, causing the rest of the herd to run as well. Dusk wanted to join them again and race them but for some reason, he didn't feel like it nor was he in the mood, he couldn't explain why, but something felt off, so he just let them run off over a nearby hill.

Dusk was about to turn and move on to get away from his home. But just when he was about to, his nose picked a strange burning scent that smelled kinda familiar. Turning around, Dusk saw some dark gray-black clouds and on top of the hill was a little light flaring.

Suddenly, birds started flying off, and the Pronghorns started running down the hill in panic and fright. Dusk knew that when animals are running in panic it means one thing…

Fire!

So the young prince started running off with the Pronghorns running behind him as the fire continues to spread.

Up on the ledge, away from the fire, Stone Heart and Ocellus watched the fire spread while Dusk keeps running. Stone Heart smiled evilly for the plan is working, in their favor and is within their grasp.

"The plan is in motion. Go, my daughter!" Stone Heart ordered as he watched Ocellus run off to proceed to the next part of their plan.

Meanwhile, at the Castle Of Harmony, Twilight was in the throne room pacing back and forth worrying about her son while Cadance was sitting down watching her pace.

"Don't worry, Twilight. Dusk will be fine. What could happen?" Cadance said, reassuring Twilight that her son will be fine on his own as Twilight continued pacing back and forth.

Then Shining Armor appeared in the throne room with a worried and panicked look on his face and made his way to Twilight and Cadance to give them the bad news.

"Queen Twilight, quick! There's a fire in the north side of the kingdom, Dusk is out there!" Shining Armor informed Twilight. This was like a bad case of de ja vu for the Alicorn Queen. Remembering when her own life was in jeopardy because of a stampede. But this was worse, it was a FIRE!

"No, no! Dusk!" Twilight shouted in worry as she runs off to go and rescue her son with Shining Armor and Cadance following right behind her.

"Shining Armor, send a scout to fly ahead and find him!" Twilight ordered as she and Cadance ran past the other Alicorns and Flash Sentry as they followed as well, knowing something is wrong…

A couple of Kirins ran away from the spreading fire as Dusk ran ahead as well, trying to get away from the flames. But as he ran, he stopped for he has found a wall of fire blocking his path back home. So Dusk went the other way only to start coughing from all the smoke the fire has made.

That's when Dusk looked ahead and saw a rocky ridge that is high above the fire. Knowing that getting to high grounds means safety from the fire, Dusk makes a run for it while avoiding the fire and jumps to the high ridge only to grab a hold of the ledge.

Dusk struggles to climb up as he watches the fire start to catch up to him until the stallion finally jumps over the ledge and made it to higher ground. Dusk let out a breath of relief until he noticed something ahead of him in the dark mist.

Approaching it, Dusk saw that it was an Alicorn mare with a dark pink mane, dark amaranth with brilliant amaranth elytra feathered wings, dark grayish arctic blue fur, and her cutie mark is of two masks of Drama and Tragedy and she appears to have collapsed into subconsciousness from the fire.

When Dusk arrived, the Mare began to stir as she opened her moderate cyan eyes to see the stallion standing over her looking at her in concern before falling back into subconsciousness.

Dusk investigated her body, seeing how she almost got herself killed in the fire. Seeing how she is an Alicorn like him and not wanting her to be left behind, Dusk put some thought into it and decided to help her. So he grabbed her by the neck gently and placed her on his back. Then Dusk placed his hoof on hers', assuring her he will help her escape the fire.

Dusk approaches another ledge as the fire starts again and then started jumping down with the unconscious Alicorn mare on his back. Dusk ran as fast as his hooves could carry him to get himself and the mare out of the burning forest. Suddenly he stopped when a burning tree came falling down and landed in front of him.

Dusk had to think quick if he wanted to get himself and the mare to safety. He backed up from the tree and ran the other way as he jumped over the tree, only for him and the mare to fall down a hill and splash into a river down below them.

Dusk quickly surfaced as he looked next to himself and saw the mare slowly start to sink into the water. Dusk gasped and dove in after her.

It wasn't long until Dusk grabbed her and surfaced as he drags the unconscious mare across the river away from the burning land and to the land of Equestria.

Meanwhile, the Pegasus Scout who was sent by Shining Armor to fly ahead and find Dusk, spotted something below him and gasped. Below, Dusk was in the river dragging an Alicorn mare away from the fire and onto the shore of Equestria.

"I must tell Twilight about this!" The Pegasus said, knowing that Twilight must know about this, as he flies off to find the queen and inform her.
