When Yosetsu had been dragged off to the medical room by a handful of U.A bots (thankfully not Villain bots), the last person he had expected to see there was Mikazuki, and likewise, the wielder of Rex Lupus seemed surprised to see him too.
His expression had changed just enough to be noticeable. His brows furrowed just a tad, his lips quivered and his eyes narrowed mildly, a good sign of worry if experience has though Awase anything, though he didn't let any of it show as he watched him enter the place alongside Shihai, Yui, Sen, Reiko and the still… unconscious guy with blonde/black hair. The last guy seemed… out of it, so to speak, though the Medic Bots didn't comment on it as they set him down on a medical bed for an actual professional to look into his situation.
"Mika," greeted Yosetsu as soon as he was set atop a bed in the room. The medical room that they were in was one located closer to the battle sites, and from what he knew, it was much larger than what they had in U.A proper. Appropriate, he thought, as more injuries were likely to occur in such a place… though he was surprised to see how many people were present here. Most of them were no doubt suffering from mild injuries that stemmed from Quirk overuse, though a few here and there, like that green haired boy with the broken arm, definitely needed serious help.
"Yosetsu," echoed Mikazuki, with him nodding his way all the while, and as he said this, the Welder blinked and stared past him, finally taking note of how Augus wasn't alone either. Mika was currently sitting atop a bed of his own, with his feet dangling over its edge as he did so, and on the bed proper was a girl with hair shaped like a mushroom. On the bed parallel to the one he was on were two others, a blonde boy who was suffering from Quirk overuse, laying atop the mattress, and a punk rock girl who was sitting with one leg propped up on the bed, seeming a little uncaring towards her surroundings as she hummed to herself.
Upon hearing him greet the Welder, Mikazuki's companions had turned their gaze to meet his own, and Yosetsu felt a little flustered under their combined stares. At the same time, however, Awase's own group turned to acknowledge Augus', and at that, Yui glanced over at the Welder and asked the first question that came to mind.
"You know him?" asked Yui, straight and to the point as she spoke, to which Yosetsu grinned.
"Yeah. He's a friend. Best friend, actually," smiled Yosetsu, with him motioning towards Mikazuki as he spoke. The boy in question didn't react too much to that outside of a small smile, and as he did so, the mushroom haired girl and the blonde boy got up to look closer at their acquaintance's best friend, though the latter was quickly pushed back onto the bed by a medic bot that stated that he was not to move for now.
"Monsieur Augus, is that your friend?" asked the blonde boy, eliciting a huff from Mikazuki as the Rex Tail fluttered about happily. It seemed relieved to see Yosetsu after it had been separated from him for as long as it had, and without pause, it hovered over and coiled itself loosely around the Welder's body. Yui, who had been sitting by him, raised a brow at the gesture of affection whilst Sen and Shihai smiled and covered up a snicker at the sight, respectively, though Reiko offered no real reaction to this as she observed in silence. Yosetsu himself didn't really mind it, as he was rather used to the Rex Tail's affectionate showings, even if he was a little embarrassed at how openly it was showing it, though he didn't dismiss it as, with a huff, he patted it above its 'head' and stroked its side rather affectionately.
"Yeah. He is," confirmed Mikazuki, with his cheeks blooming just the faintest bit of red at the admission as he recalled the Rex Tail. It was reluctant to leave Yosetsu's side, but even so, it did as it was told, just in time too, as another examinee had been brought in right as it did so. Upon hearing this, however, the blonde, apparently foreign, boy lit up like a Christmas tree as he attempted to sit up once more, only for a medic bot to appear out of nowhere and hold an arm unit up to stay him. He reluctantly complied… and with a sigh, he spoke to Yosetsu, bummed that he could not see him directly all the while.
"I see! Quel régal, it is an honour to meet you, monsieur! I am Aoyama Yuuga, and a friend of monsieur Augus is a friend of mine! May I have your name, mon ami?" introduced the French examinee, Aoyama, as he tried to get up and flick his hair. Most of Yuuga's body was blocked from view by Mika's, but still, Yosetsu could still see the faint outline of sparkles emanating from his body somehow as he spoke, much to his amusement.
"The honour is mine, Aoyama-Kun. I'm Awase. Awase Yosetsu," responded the Welder, with him nodding in greeting despite Aoyama being unable to see it, and upon doing so, Yuuga chuckled softly, seeming pleased with the response, and at that, Yosetsu glanced over at the punk rock girl, who was thumbing away at her phone. She didn't seem keen on speaking to him, even after they made brief eye contact, so he decided to just ignore her like she was him… though at the last possible moment…
"Jiro. Jiro Kyoka," introduced the punk rocker as her extended earlobes jacked themselves into her phone, and moments later, she shut her eyes and began bobbing her head up and down to whatever she was listening to on her phone. It wasn't hard to tell that she was a music buff, though Yosetsu thought it imprudent to bring that up right now as he chuckled and nodded.
"It's nice to meet you, Jiro-Chan," smiled Yosetsu earnestly as he waved at Kyoka. She didn't give any physical acknowledgement towards his words, though she did grunt in acknowledgement as she bobbed her head lightly to the tune of the music she was playing. Awase thought it best to not interrupt her out of common human decency.
The final person on Mika's side didn't seem too keen on speaking up, as evident by how she mostly kept to herself and avoided direct eye contact with everyone, including the medical bots that occasionally rolled up to check on her status. She seemed very much socially awkward, something that Yosetsu couldn't really fault her for, though at one point, the Welder did watch her manifest a mushroom and eye it with a smile, and as she did so, she handed it to Mikazuki, who grunted as he accepted it.
He then ate it, much to the mushroom girl's dismay as she claimed that it wasn't meant to be eaten, at least not raw. Kyoka and Yuuga both expressed varying levels of amusement at this as the former snorted out a laugh while the latter covered up his own with the back of his hand, and Yosetsu himself looked away as he snickered in amusement at the sight.
"Charming," hummed Yui, catching Yosetsu's attention as she observed all this happen from afar. Her tone didn't sound sarcastic, nor did it sound forced or mocking. No… it just sounded… neutral, really, somewhat akin to Mikazuki's, Yosetsu realized. Her comment had made Awase chuckle lightly as he nodded, with him finding some amusement in it as he grinned in agreement, eliciting a raise of Kodai's brow as she turned to face him.
"Mika's got a knack for that," mused Yosetsu with an endearing grin, and as he said this, the Rex Tail hovered up to him and crooned lightly, with it stopping just a few inches away from Awase all the while. Mikazuki himself glanced back when he felt his Quirk moving away from him, though when he saw it close to the Welder, he turned back. Yosetsu's had enough experience with the Rex Tail to know how to deal with it by now, he reasoned, and though that statement was very much true, the headband-wearing boy still wished that he'd give him some help in regards to recalling his Quirk back.
"I see," muttered Yui as she observed the Rex Tail shifting down beneath the Welder's arm and positioning its 'head' directly below his hand. It seemed to be demanding scratches, and though it was admittedly rather ridiculous to her, to scratch a bone blade tail, Yosetsu complied with its demands regardless and gave it scritches, stroking its side and scratching near the bottom of its bladed edge, and much to her surprise, when he did this, the Rex Tail… purred in delight as it was receiving the scritches it so desperately longed for.
Sen and Shihai were noticeably amused by the sight before them, with the duo grinning at how subdued Yosetsu was currently being. Kaibara found it especially amusing as Awase had been rather aggressive during their time in the battle site. The guy knew how to fight, and he had been wrecking shop with a Quirk that was as simple as him Welding items onto his body, a clear show of skill and possible combat experience on his part, so to see that previously combative individual now pat a dangerous looking Quirk as though it were a housecat… well… it was a somewhat jarring shift, but certainly not an unwelcome one.
Reiko, however, found herself observing the Rex Tail with an intrigued look in her eyes. Something about its form enamoured her, and evidently enough, the Rex Tail took note of this as the tip of its blade turned towards her rather abruptly. Everyone observing it, Yosetsu included, were surprised by its sudden shift in target, though no one said a thing as they watched the semi-sentient Quirk hover up and observe her quietly.
Curious, Yanagi brought a hand up towards the Rex Tail and tried a pat. Much to her chagrin, the Tail flinched back at this as it remained wary towards strangers. At that, Mikazuki himself perked up and glanced back towards Reiko, with his gaze sharpening on instinct as his body went on the defensive for the briefest of moments. His gaze was noticed only by the ghostly girl, who flinched lightly as she recoiled her hand, though moments later, the Tail wielder softened his gaze and hummed, silently apologising for his overreaction as he turned back away from the girl and allowed her to do whatever she wished.
"... I will not hurt you," muttered Reiko in a soothing tone of voice, one that was barely audible as she held a hand up to comfort the Bladed Tail. Observing her closely, the Rex Tail slowly shifted towards her and edged its side into her palm, and after a few moments of doing so, its side rested fully against her hand. Yanagi was taken aback by just how… warm the Bone Blade was as she held onto its side, with her humming lightly as she patted it lightly, and for all it was worth, although it did not purr like it did whilst in Yosetsu's grasp, it still slackened a little as it moved closer to the ghostly girl, seeming content with this situation it was in all the while.
"What a bizarre entity. Is it your friend's Quirk?" inquired Yanagi, to which Yosetsu grinned and nodded. Apparently, Reiko had been expecting Awase to continue on with that, though a mild shudder through the tendril connecting the Tail Blade to Mikazuki signaled that the boy wasn't comfortable with him doing so, which was understandable. Augus was still a little iffy when it came to sharing the details behind his Quirk, especially to strangers, and as his closest friend, the Welder knew better than to do share the details with people that his pal didn't trust.
"Uh, yeah. Mika's not a fan of telling people he's just met about his Quirk, though," mused Yosetsu, with him rubbing the back of his neck as he spoke. As he said this, however, a nurse walked over and gently poked the tendril that had stretched out from Mika's bed to Yosetsu's, and, having taken the hint as the Rex Tail's tendril was obstructing the path for the medics, Mikazuki retracted his Quirk. It was upset, sure, but even with its limited sentience, it still had to follow direct orders from its owner.
"I see. That is understandable, seeing as how we are strangers," hummed Reiko, seeming a little saddened by the secrecy but also understanding all at once. Yosetsu nodded a little in agreement, though right as he said that, he noticed, out of the corner of his eye, how the Rex Tail had crooned a little as it tried to get Mika to do… something. At first, its host seemed somewhat resistant to its efforts, though before long, he sighed and glanced over at Awase's little group, namely Yanagi, and spoke. "Hm...?"
"You… helped Yosetsu in the Entrance Exam?" inquired Mikazuki rhetorically. His words conveyed a small amount of intrigue as he looked between Sen, Shihai, Reiko and Yui with a marginally apprehensive gaze, and his sudden inquiry had caught most of them off guard. Kuroiro was the first to recover from his stupor, however, as he cleared his throat and nodded.
"Indeed… though in some cases, he was the one helping us," laughed Shihai awkwardly, to which the other boy hummed, seeming unsurprised with this as he nodded. Yosetsu, on the other hand, felt his cheeks flushing a fair bit as he waved his black skinned acquaintance off.
"Kuroiro-Kun is exaggerating, Mika. We helped each other in equal parts," rebutted Yosetsu lightly, with him managing to keep his voice steady, even if he felt flustered. Mikazuki nodded at this, seeing no reason to argue.
"Still though, when it came to recklessness, Awase-Kun had us covered in spades!" laughed Sen, with him grinning as he leaned forwards and pointed towards Yosetsu whilst speaking. Mikazuki turned and made direct eye contact with him, a sign for him to continue, which he did. "The dude literally ran towards the Zero Pointer! What kinda idiot does something like that?!"
Sen had laughed a little near the end of his sentence, and though unintentionally, his words had riled Mika up a fair bit as his Rex Tail squealed indignantly. Much to his surprise, however, Yosetsu didn't seem to take any offense to this, as he simply chuckled in conjunction with Sen whilst rubbing the back of his neck meekly.
"Yeah… you got me there, Kaibara-Kun. I was acting recklessly," admitted Yosetsu, only for Yui to huff.
"The line dividing recklessness, stupidity and heroism is rather thin," mused Yui with a frown as she leaned forwards and ran her hands over one another, and at that, Yosetsu required a moment or two to realize that she was complementing him. It was an indirect, and perhaps a little half-hearted, compliment, but still, it was enough to make his cheeks burn for a moment as he looked away meekly.
And as for Mikazuki himself, he found himself almost smiling as he saw no small amount of truth behind Kodai's words. He may have only just been introduced to her… but he decided now that he liked her.
"Kodai-Chan speaks the truth, Kaibara-Kun. Heroes are expected to be brave in their line of work, and whilst bravery is oftimes seen as a good quality to have, it is also commonly bunched in with recklessness and stupidity. To write off Awase-Kun's actions as being stupid would be doing him a massive disservice," agreed Reiko with a smile. Her words of approval only worsened Yosetsu's blush as he hid his face behind his hands, much to everyone's amusement.
"Please stop it. You're fucking killing me with all this," muttered Yosetsu, though as his little group relished in his flustered misery, Mikazuki felt Komori's eyes on him, prompting him to turn towards her and grunt, more or less giving her the approval to speak as she smiled shyly.
"Your friend seems rather nice," mused Komori as she clasped her hands together, eliciting a hum from Mikazuki as he nodded. Whilst saying this, the Rex Tail hovered up to the mushroom girl and laid itself down on her lap, causing her to gasp softly as it did so, though moments later, she just… went with the flow and patted its side as Mikazuki responded accordingly.
"He is."
And before much more could be said, a nurse finally made it over to them and gave them a quick checkup. Unfortunately, the head of the medical wing was preoccupied with the more severely injured examinees that needed on-site medical attention, so she wasn't able to be here, though no one thought to comment on that as they allowed the grumpy man in a red and white shirt give them a quick check-up.
Komori was the first to be sent home due to her lack of real injuries, with her offering a mushroom to her temporary teammates before she departed, followed by Reiko after the doc had confirmed that the worst she was suffering from was a case of Quirk overuse, and she left after giving the other members of Awase's team a gentle curtsy. Shihai was discharged next after the nurse treated the very few injuries he had, namely a few minor cuts and bruises, assuring him that he'd be fine all the while.
Yuuga's case was a little different, in that the Frenchman's overuse of his Quirk had made it rather difficult for him to leave properly on his own. The doc stated that he'd need his parents to come get him as a safety precaution, something that Aoyama did not object to. That aside, Sen and Yui were the next to be sent on their way, with the two having similar injuries to the other. Kaibara suffered from a few scabs on his knuckles and fingers, with the wrestling tape around his hands doing little to protect them from the consequences of punching into metal, and if left untreated, they ran the risk of infection, something that the nurse refused to let happen.
Sen would adamantly deny the fact that he had screamed at the top of his lungswhen the disinfectant was poured onto his wounds, though he powered through it and got a lollipop near the end.
As for Kodai, her injuries were less severe, but more plentiful. Her use of the environment around her as projectiles ended up giving her a multitude of small, practically unnoticeable, cuts and bruises on her arms and legs, necessitating them to be bandaged up to accelerate the healing process. Yui herself didn't mind it, and before long, both she and Sen were on their way, with her bowing her head to say goodbye to her now former teammate whilst the Gyrator simply offered Awase a two fingered salute, one that he mirrored with little issue.
With them out of the way, Yosetsu came next. The doc grumbled a little when he noticed the multitude of tiny injuries that littered the Welder's body, though he said nothing of them as he disinfected them and wrapped a few bandages around his injuries. Awase did wince a fair few times, though he didn't let it show all that much, and before long, he was discharged as well, though rather than leave, the Welder instead chose to linger outside the medical ward to wait for his friend.
The Welder found himself growing somewhat worried for his friend as the seconds ticked by, however, with him clasping his fingers together awkwardly and twiddling his thumbs together as he tried to calm his nerves. Part of him was worried that Mikazuki was just pretending to be uninjured; it would be like him to play his injuries off like they were nothing, but even so… even after they've known each other for almost two years, the Rex Lupus wielder was still always so guarded when it came to his own well-being.
Yosetsu hated it… he hated how little self preservation Mikazuki had… though then again, that was more or less the pot calling the kettle black, huh?
Whilst thinking of this, however, Yosetsu was snapped out of this train of thought when, without warning, the door to the medical ward swung open, allowing that punk rock girl, Jiro Kyoka was it(?), to exit the room and step out into the halls of U.A. Glancing around briefly, Kyoka was quick to notice Awase, and with a mostly unreadable expression, the punk rocker waved at him, with one of her Earphone Jacks mirroring the gesture all the while.
"Yo. Waiting for your friend?" greeted Jiro, not unkindly but also not politely all at once. She sounded as though she were speaking to a complete stranger… which… well, wasn't too far off the mark, really.
"Yeah. Mika… is he alright?" asked Yosetsu, with him forgetting that Kyoka probably didn't know about that completely either, though she didn't comment on that as she shrugged and pointed back into the medical wing with one of her Jacks. Thereafter, however, she stabbed the tip of her Earlobe Earphone Jack into the door, confusing Awase briefly as he watched her close her eyes and focus, and moments later, she unplugged it from the door and sighed.
"He's fine. Just some small cuts and exhaustion. Doc's gonna get him patched up and sent on his way," assured Kyoka, to which Yosetsu hummed, impressed.
"That's a relief… your Quirk told you that?" asked Yosetsu as Kyoka stepped away from the door. Moving back to give her some space, Awase watched as Jiro moved to lean against an empty spot on the wall, not too far from him, before huffing.
"Yeah, it is."
Kyoka Jiro
Quirk: Earphone Jacks
A Mutation Quirk that causes her Earlobes to extend out, Kyoka's Quirk increases her sense of sound tenfold whilst granting her the ability to project her heartbeat through the tips of her Earlobe Jacks.
"Cool. Though it must suck at least a little, to always hear shit at max volume," mused Yosetsu, to which Kyoka snorted at his words.
"Yeah, but you learn to tune it out eventually," snorted Kyoka, and at that, the Welder chuckled lightly as he nodded in agreement. She wasn't wrong there, he supposed…
"Good to know," smiled Yosetsu, and right at that moment, the door to the medical wing swung open once more, and at that, they turned to see Mikazuki walking out of the room, seeming somewhat annoyed all the while. He had a few bandages wrapped around his arms and a few small ones on his legs, though otherwise, he seemed mostly fine. The Rex Tail had a bandage wrapped around its 'body' and tied into a cute little bow near its top, something that it didn't like, though Augus himself was too amused by its suffering to remove it. "Oh, Mika."
"Yosetsu," echoed Mikazuki as he glanced his way, and as he did so, he briefly made eye contact with Kyoka, who raised a brow at the sight of his Quirk hovering beside him with a bandage bow. She didn't think too much of it, however, as she gave him a two fingered salute. "Jiro-Chan."
"Yo," greeted Jiro, seeming uninterested in starting a conversation, though by that same virtue, she didn't seem opposed to it either as she pushed herself off the wall she had been leaning on and gave Mikazuki a quick one-over. "You look like crap."
"Thanks," responded Mikazuki, eliciting a snicker from Yosetsu as he adjusted his headband whilst Kyoka snorted in amusement. Thereafter, a few seconds passed as the trio stood by awkwardly, though after a few moments of awkward silence between the three, Awase cleared his throat, catching their attention all the while.
"I think we oughta get outta here before it gets too late," mused Yosetsu, and as he said that, Jiro pulled out her phone to check the time, only to wince lightly when she saw that it was well into the afternoon, approaching the evening, even. If they hurried, they could (hopefully) avoid the rush hour, though considering their luck, Awase and Augus doubted that they'd manage it.
"You got a point. Wanna walk to the gates?" invited Kyoka, with her stuffing her phone and both her hands into her pant pockets as she spoke. Yosetsu seemed a tiny bit flustered at the invitation as he flinched back a tiny bit, though Mikazuki simply shrugged and moved to walk past her, grunting all the while.
"Sure. let's go," hummed Mika, with him walking onwards all the while. Yosetsu eventually recovered and moved to walk alongside him, to his left, and before long, Kyoka moved to his right, with her twirling her jacks with her fingers as they walked onwards.
Whilst moving, however, the Rex Tail did float up to Yosetsu and crooned at him, with the noise confusing the Welder at first, though before long, the headband-wearing boy realized what it wanted him to do and removed the bandage around its body, causing it to 'purr' in delight. Jiro was… taken aback by this, but even so, she said nothing about it as she just watched the Rex Tail curl around Awase's neck and just… rest there, content with its position.
All the while, Mikazuki simply walked onwards, either oblivious or uncaring of what his Quirk was getting up to.
Emi was getting worried.
Although she had been given the greenlight to enter U.A by Nedzu, the Smile Heroine was still barred from entering various areas, more so out of a jovial amount of spite that the principal had towards how she was from another Hero School. He didn't wish to let her in on too many of his school's functions, after all. He had told her that much from the beginning, and in such an upbeat manner that it had gotten a legitimate chuckle out of Fukukado back then.
Now, however, the Smile Heroine couldn't help but shudder as she realized that one of the many facilities that she didn't have access to was the medical ward. It was probably understandable why she wasn't let in, as Nedzu had made it abundantly clear that no Heroes, barring the Medical Heroes that were hired by U.A, were to enter the medical wards after an Entrance Exam, more so to not overwhelm the examinees after they had recovered. Emi was fine with that, though the mammal of indeterminate species also stated that she could not linger outside the medical wards whilst waiting for her charge and his friend to exit either.
When she had asked why, Nedzu had plainly stated that his school would be closing its gates soon in order to look through the scores of their examinees, and even if he did respect her as a fellow Hero, the fact that she was not a part his faculty made it difficult for him to justify allowing her to remain. Fukukado was… upset by this declaration, though she abided by it and opted to wait by the gates of the school.
"Still waiting on your kid, huh?" came the somewhat snarky comment from a familiar voice, prompting Emi to glance over to its owner, the ice cream man, as he packed his shit up and stretched a little to alleviate the stiffness in his joints. Fukukado had to give him some credit; the guy wasn't hired to do this, he kinda just showed up one day and opted to give ice cream to the kids to calm their nerves, and the Heroine could certainly respect that.
"Yeah. I hope he's not too hurt… I couldn't see him get hit too hard back in the observation room, but still…" muttered Emi, and as she finished that, the ice cream man rubbed his stubbled chin and chuckled to himself.
"Well, if the kid's half as impressive as Sasha describes him as, he'll be fine. Give him my condolences if he isn't, though. Ciao," mused the ice cream man, with him waltzing off as he said that. In response to this, Emi simply smiled and waved at him, and before long, he was gone, leaving Ms Joke with nothing more than her thoughts as she leaned against her car.
A few moments of uncomfortable silence passed before Emi took note of three figures stepping out of U.A's front entrance. Two of them made her smile on reflex, with the two being Mika and Yosetsu, who were conversing about a random topic. Well, conversing was probably too strong a word to use… the former was more listening to the latter speak about his experience with the exam more than anything.
There was a third person present, however, someone that Emi wasn't familiar with. She wondered if she'd seen her on one of the screens prior, though she didn't think much of that as she leaned forwards, prepared to move in to greet, though she was able to stop herself when she remembered.
'Right… no guest pass. Wouldn't want a repeat of last time, now would I?'
Said last time involved her diving in for a hug against Aizawa, only for the infamous U.A barrier to appear, and for her to slam face-first into it at maximum speed. That was her first experience with it, and when it had happened, she swore that she could hear Shota laughing his insomnia away as she crumpled onto the ground. Did that count as her making him laugh? Probably.
Reminiscing aside, the three examinees eventually made it out and stopped in front of Emi. Mikazuki nodded at her in greeting whilst Yosetsu gave her a "Yo", one that she echoed, before she glanced down at the third individual.
"Hm… do I know you?" mused Emi playfully as she gave Kyoka Jiro a quick once-over. Vice versa, however, Jiro seemed a little flabbergasted at her presence, with her perking up a fair bit as she tried to process just how casually Mikazuki and Yosetsu were speaking to Fukukado.
"Well… n-no. But you… you're Ms Joke…! Why-" began Kyoka, only for Emi to cut her off.
"I'm this little munchkin's guardian!" laughed Emi, with her picking Mikazuki up by under his arms and presenting him to Kyoka like he was a plush. Mika didn't seem too bothered by this, and by the sidelines, Yosetsu and the Rex Tail both snickered (kind of in the latter's case) softly at his expense. Kyoka, however, seemed a little bewildered by this, though she didn't press the issue, especially when she saw the somewhat dejected look on Augus' face.
"I… I see. I'm Jiro, by the way. Jiro Kyoka," introduced the Earphone Jack user, with her smiling widely as she spoke. In response to this, Emi, after setting down her charge, much to his relief, reached behind herself and pulled out a notebook. Kyoka watched as the Heroine signed her name on it before doodling a series of laughing individuals near the bottom corner. With that done, she ripped the page off her notebook and handed it to Jiro, who accepted it with wide eyes. "F-For real…?"
"For real, Jiro-Chan! I can tell when someone's an admirer!" smiled Ms Joke as she booped Jiro on the nose, eliciting a blush from the girl as she looked away shyly. Holding the autograph close to her chest, Kyoka smiled slightly and bowed in appreciation and offered her thanks, to which Emi grinned. "Heh, now run along, kid. Rush hour's starting and the last thing I wanna do is hold you up for any longer!"
"A-Ah! Thank you, Ms Joke. I guess I'll be seeing you guys some other time, huh?" stuttered Kyoka, with her still reeling from having been able to receive an autograph from the Joke Heroine. Mikazuki responded to this with a grunt, not bothering to notice her flustered state.
"Preferably with a U.A uniform, Jiro-Chan. See ya," smiled Yosetsu, with him offering the girl a two fingered salute as he spoke. Kyoka, in spite of herself, nodded in agreement as she moved to leave for the train station. Whilst Yosetsu was quick to look away from her as she left, however, Mikazuki's gaze noticeably lingered, and upon noticing this, Emi grinned and leaned down beside her charge's head, whispering into his ear all the while.
"Are you in-ter-est-ed in her?~" sang Emi in a teasing sort of manner, to which Mikazuki flinched and resisted the urge to punch her on reflex. At that, Fukukado leaned back and cackled before assuring Augus that she was just joking with him, something that made him frown in disdain before he shook his head and entered the Heroine's car, seeming a little irritated all the while. Yosetsu entered moments later whilst Emi got in last, and once she was in, she began driving back to Niigata within a moments notice, with her hoping to avoid the rush hour traffic jams all the while.
She did not manage it, unfortunately, and ultimately, she was caught up in the traffic jam, much to her dismay. Yosetsu didn't seem to mind, as he just thumbed through his phone with a mostly disinterested look on his face, and as for Mika… Emi simply grinned as she glanced back at him via her rearview mirror.
"Seriously though, if it's a crush… aaaaaand he's got his earphones in…"
Mikazuki was quick to tune her out by plugging his earphones in and blasting his playlist of calming music out at full volume, ear damage be damned. Emi herself sighed at this as she turned back towards the road and dropped her chin down onto the steering wheel in boredom.
This was gonna be a long ride home.
Four days later
The congregation of teachers/Heroes within the U.A conference room (their main one anyways) was quite a sight to behold, though to Nedzu, the mouse bear rat thing simply found himself smiling as he sat at the far end of the meeting table, with his paws clasped together gently as he observed his staff with his black, beady eyes.
Unbeknownst to a good majority of his faculty, however, the principal himself had been staying up rather late these past few days. It was, admittedly, incredibly hard to tell, though Nedzu had been working alongside his secretary to get a few names sorted out in regards to their potential placements within U.A. There were very few individuals that were straight up barred from entering U.A, and for the past three nights, the mammal of unknown origin discussed the matter with his secretary, and after the given amount of time had passed, the two had shaved off a good 20% from the list after doing a massive amount of investigation into their backgrounds.
The remaining 80% of the examinees had been discussed for the past few days, with a few back and forths having occurred in regards to where some of them would be placed in U.A. Aizawa himself seemed somewhat upset at a few names being put into General Education thanks to their middling scores, but he knew better than to comment on this as he simply grumbled whenever that was brought up.
Finally, in the present time, Nedzu was wrapping up the elocation of their soon-to-be students with the rest of his staff, with said wrap-up being in regards to the potential Hero students for the upcoming first semester. Unfortunately, not everyone was present due to how a handful of their schedules had collided with one another. In particular, Nedzu noticed how the Discipline Master, Class 1B's Foundational Heroics teacher and two of their three Councillors, namely their second Councillor and their Quirk Councillor, were absent, though that in itself was understandable thanks to the workloads attached to their names.
Besides, they had given their opinions in regards to all the potential Hero students ahead of time, having expected to be unable to attend this rather important meeting beforehand. Nedzu wasn't surprised by their choices, though then again, he was rarely surprised by anything.
That aside…
"Uh, Nedzu, sir… if I may," began a voice near the center of the meeting table. Glancing over at the speaker, the mammal of indeterminate species smiled and motioned for him to speak, prompting him to do so with some hesitation. "I… noticed how a few names have been listed down on the slip beforehand. If I may… could I ask why this was done without consulting, at the very least, the Homeroom Teachers of the upcoming semester's Hero Classes?"
"Ah, you have a good eye, Jekyll-San," praised Nedzu lightly as the aforementioned teacher, Henry Jekyll, blushed lightly at the praise. Whilst he did so, however, the other teachers/Heroes present all leaned forwards, seeming intrigued by this as well. In the past, all U.A Hero Course students needed to be approved by, at the very least, the Hero Course Homeroom teachers before being accepted in, and noticing their curiosity, the U.A Principal sighed and explained himself. "In truth, a few of these names were requested to be put on by the HPSC."
"The HPSC…? Why would they make a personal request like that?" inquired Present Mic from his side of the meeting table, with him lowering the profile he had on Kyoka Jiro as he spoke. In response to this, Nedzu sighed, with him shaking his head all the while.
"The HPSC has requested that some individuals with particularly noteworthy Quirks be put into the Hero Course ahead of a few others. These individuals include Bakugou Katsuki, Iida Tenya, Todoroki Shoto and Yaoyoruzu Momo," mused Nedzu as he slid a slip of paper with the aforementioned names taking up four of the fourty slots available within the Hero course. Eraserhead picked up the aforementioned slip of paper and scanned it quickly, with him grimacing almost immediately thereafter as he handed it back to his boss. "There was a demand to slot one Mineta Minoru into the Hero Course as well, but I was able to compromise and place him in Gen Ed."
"Considering how difficult it is to go against the HPSC, even with your status as principal, this Mineta individual must've been quite the piece of work," mused Vlad King, to which Nedzu chuckled. Oh… Kan had no idea what he and his secretary were able to dig up on young Mineta's family over the course of the past three nights. The fact that he wasn't expelled on the spot, before the school year even began, was nothing short of a miracle!
"Most definitely, but we are missing the main point of this meeting. Now then, I would like to get your opinions on…"
And from there on, things were rather tame as Nedzu discussed student allocations with his fellow Heroes and teachers. Individuals like Midoriya Izuku, Uraraka Ochako, Kaibara Sen, Awase Yosetsu and Jiro Kyoka were accepted into the course almost immediately, whereas the likes of Komori Kinoko, Fukidashi Manga, Hagakure Toru and Koda Kouji required a bit of discussion before they were ultimately accepted in.
Kaminari Denki was approved, albeit just barely, after Power Loader mused about how he had the spirit of a Hero, he just needed to be tempered into one, and likewise, Sero Hanta, Tsuburaba Kosei and Shiozaki Ibara needed a tiny bit of back and forth before the teachers/Heroes accepted them into the course.
"I still doubt the logic behind letting Shiozaki into the Hero course," mused Aizawa at one point, to which Toshinori, who was present for his first ever meeting for his teaching career, spluttered a little.
"How so, Young Aizawa? She seems to have the heart and soul of a Hero!" defended Yagi with a withered smile, only for Shota to frown.
"Yagi-San, she tried to pray away the Executor."
And to that, Yagi had no real rebuttal. Honestly, it was a miracle that Shota had even managed to relent and allow her to join the Hero Course… though he had made a personal request for her to be put into Sekijiro's class.
That aside, however, as they finished up with spot number 39, Nedzu found himself frowning as he looked between the final few applicants that could fill in that final spot. All of them were good contenders, with the right motivations for becoming Heroes and both the strength and the Quirks to help them see this through, but ultimately, the principal settles on a single individual to occupy the 40th seat in the Hero Course, and without hesitation, he placed the profile of Augus Mikazuki onto the table and slid it forwards for everyone to see.
"As for our final Hero course applicant, I propose that we have Augus Mikazuki fill it," proposed Nedzu, and at his words, a few of his faculty members began humming between themselves. Power Loader seemed somewhat grumpy about the idea, though that was negligible, as he's always been this way towards those taking the Hero Course exam for destroying his babies. Similarly, Ectoplasm and Snipe both seemed somewhat reluctant, with the two of them knowing enough about Mikazuki to feel skeptical about him.
Midnight, Present Mic and Eraserhead, however, seemed supportive of this, as they gave their approval in the form of a nod of Aizawa's head and two forms of Hell yeah from Nemuri and Yamada. Thirteen had been mildly apprehensive at first, though she ultimately gave her approval, having recalled Mikazuki's selfless actions during the exam, and Hound Dog had agreed on principle, though he was more keen on perhaps speaking to the boy more than anything.
Someone like him would benefit from some counseling.
"My apologies, Nedzu, but… may I know more about Young Augus before I make my decision? I must admit to not being familiar with him," mused Toshinori as he rubbed the back of his spindly neck meekly. Glancing his way, his would-be coworkers all gave him varying forms of amused glances as he felt his cheeks tinting red in embarrassment, though he said nothing of it as Nedzu chuckled and gave him the most basic of run downs in regards to Mikazuki's past.
He spoke of what little he could without breaching into anything confidential, with him commenting on how Mikazuki had been an orphan rescued by a Hero and placed under the care of the Chryse Orphanage. After a brief stint of vigilantism during his younger days, the boy had been set on probation, only to be caught performing vigilantism yet again and being placed on a second probation (something that amused Toshinori a lot more than he would like to admit) under the watchful eye of Fukukado Emi.
Though it was mostly left unspoken, a few of the teachers/Heroes present were still apprehensive about letting Mikazuki even attempt the Entrance Exam. Cementoss in particular had been wary of him, though that was probably more attributed to how his Quirk had gone a little haywire during the written exam until Mika had sat on it, and likewise, Thirteen also felt a little unsure on how to feel about allowing the boy into their school, though she did her best to suppress those thoughts and maintain a clear and level headed mindset.
They were Heroes, after all. They didn't wish to discriminate against anyone, especially not the individuals that could be their students.
Upon concluding, Nedzu watched as Toshinori hummed and rubbed his sharp chin thoughtfully. He carefully considered his words as he knew that despite his would-be colleagues not knowing about it yet, his words meant a lot, and if he said the wrong thing, he could potentially ruin the life of a future Hero. Luckily, however, Yagi's heart was a lot bigger than one would expect for someone his size, and with a firm nod, he smiled and turned towards the principal.
"I believe we should allow him in," mused Toshinori, to which the principal smiled, having foreseen this outcome as he chuckled. A few of the teachers/Heroes present were taken aback by his approval, though they said nothing as Nedzu spoke up.
"Well, it seems as though we've come to a mostly unanimous decision. Augus Mikazuki will be initiated into the Hero Course," smiled Nedzu, eliciting various responses from his faculty as he said this. "Of course, as part of his probation, he is to wear his Quirk Inhibiting Collar at all times, though I expect it to be removed during practical work to bring out his full potential."
"Of course," mused Higari with a roll of his eyes, and at that, the table began to discuss the matter of student allocation.
The matter was rather quickly resolved, as Aizawa, as with all his previous years, had requested for those with volatile or unpredictable Quirks to be put in his class thanks to his Quirk's abilities. Nedzu was fine with this… though as with all other years, he had to forcefully stop him from putting all that pressure onto himself by reshuffling a few names around onto Sekijiro's platter rather than his own.
"Are you sure that you want to put Augus in Sekijiro's class? My Quirk could nullify his, possibly even completely if he has his Quirk Suppressor on," stated Shota, to which Nedzu chuckled.
"Positive, Aizawa-Kun. Your workload is already rather sizable, and that aside, I believe that putting Augus-Kun in Class 1B would be beneficial for all of us," stated Nedzu with a smile. The other members of his staff were confused at first, eliciting an elaboration from him not long after. "I have been told that Augus-Kun is particularly fond of one Awase-Kun, after all."
"Ooooh…" was the only real comment from Midnight, who smiled at the prospect of an adorable bromance between the two individuals previously mentioned, something that made Mic cackle whilst Eraser just wished that he could strangle himself dead right there and then. Thirteen found herself joining in with Mic's laughing, though before long, the matter was resolved, and Nedzu made use of a projector to project an image of the upcoming semester's class listings onto the wall behind him.

"... it works, I suppose," grumbled Aizawa as he leaned back on his chair, hoping that this whole ordeal would be over so that he could take a nap in preparation for his nightly patrols. In response to this, Nedzu chuckled as he asked the other members of his faculty about their opinions on the placements. None of them held any objections, so he closed the issue and moved onto the last topic of the day.
"Excellent. Now then, for our final topic of the day, Yagi-San, if you may?"
Upon hearing this, Toshinori Yagi gulped and stood up, with him attracting the attention of everyone else around him as he did so. Breathing in deeply, the skeleton of a man steeled himself for what was to come…
"What you are about to see cannot leave this room. It is… a secret that I would rather not let anyone know. Not until the time is right," muttered Toshinori as he glanced over at Nedzu, who nodded, a silent double-confirmation that his secret would be safe with his staff, and moments later… Yagi breathed in deeply, and suddenly… he transformed!
The spindly figure suddenly doubled in size, with his twig-like arms buffing up several times over and gaining a massive amount of muscle. Life was breathed back into his gaunt expression as his formerly hunched over form straightened up into a more confident and heroic stature, and his drooping bangs stiffened, becoming a sort of V Fin atop his head.
No longer were the staff of U.A staring at Toshinori Yagi. Rather… they were now staring at…!
"ALL MIGHT?!" proclaimed Hizashi as he fell back on his chair, scrambling up to his feet all the while. All around them, the other teachers/Heroes gasped as they instinctively went on the defensive, thinking this to be some sort of long con Villain trick or a prank by Nedzu (none of them knew which was actually worse), though right as he said that, the hulking form of All Might laughed and pointed at Yamada dramatically.
"YES, I AM!" bellowed All Might, with that all too familiar air of charisma and confidence present in his voice whilst he spoke. The Number 1 Hero of Japan posed dramatically as he confirmed his identity, and moments later, Nedzu cackled as he motioned for his staff members to sit down. He noticed the faint outline of a knife in Jekyll's hand at one point, though said knife quickly disappeared inside his uniform as he, alongside his fellow teachers/Heroes, sat down uncertainly.
"Now then, I assume all of you have some questions you wish to have answered?" mused Nedzu, and to that, the silence he received, alongside the annoyed glares, essentially answered his question. "Good! All Might, or rather, Yagi-San, if you may."
And with that, All Might disappeared in a puff of smoke, and when said smoke was gone, the gaunt and sickly figure of Toshinori returned. Sighing at this, Yagi sat down and lifted his shirt up to reveal an ugly scar on the left side of his abdomen, something that made everyone present grow pale as he began his story.
"It all began five years prior…"
Guess what story's finally about to reach UA?
THIS ONE!
This chapter was actually finished about two or three weeks ago, but due to my proofreader and I wanting to start 2023 off via Tekketsu No Kyojin, it was delayed till now. Hope ya'll don't mind-
Oh and as stated in the aforementioned story's latest (as of this chapter) chapter, I've stopped doing review replies! So... not much else to say, really! This was more or less filler anyhow.
Bai bai~
