Chapter 4: Inferno and Ms. Marvel
Kamala Khan, aka Ms. Marvel, sat in her room in Avengers HQ, thinking about her crush, Dante Pertuz, aka Inferno. They knew each other for a couple of years. Ever since they officially joined the Avengers several months ago, she wanted to tell him how she felt about him. But she could never find the chance due to Avengers work every day. But since it was Valentine's Day, she needed to find the right chance.
"Madame Khan, Mr. Bruno Carrelli is here to see you." JARVIS said. "Send him in." Kamala said. JARVIS unlocked her door, allowing her best friend, Bruno Carrelli, to enter her room. "Kamala?" Bruno asked as he entered. "Hey, Bruno." Kamala said as she got up and hugged her best friend. "So, are you all ready for Valentine's Day?" Bruno asked. "Yes. And no." Kamala said as she sat down on her bed. "What's wrong?" Bruno asked, sitting next to her. "I wanna tell Dante how I feel about him. But I worry that he won't feel the same about me." Kamala said. "Are you kidding me? You both were Secret Warriors for 2 years and you're scare about telling him how you felt?" Bruno asked in disbelief. "What're you getting at?" Kamala asked. "Kamala, you are the most determined, most bravest girl I've ever known. You can get any man you set your eyes on. Including Dante." Kamala asked. "Yes. Even though I may have missed my chance with you, I know you and Dante can make each other happy." Bruno said. "Thanks, Bruno." Kamala said, bringing Bruno into another hug. "And for the record, you never would've missed your chance with me." She whispered. Bruno smiled at that.
Later, as Dante came back from a mission with Captain America and Black Widow, they were greeted by Iron Man himself. "Well, how'd the mission go?" Iron Man asked. "A bit of a hit and miss." Natasha said. "But we managed to get him a perfect cell in the Raft." Steve said. "Anyway, Dante, Ms. Marvel's looking for you." Iron Man said. "Really? What does she want?" Dante asked. "Don't ask me. She just said that she wanted to ask you something." Iron Man said as he walked away.
Dante went to Kamala's room after Bruno left HQ. "Kamala, you wanted to see me?" He asked as he entered. "Yes, I wanted to ask you something." Kamala said. "Sure. What is it?" Dante asked. "Well…it's kinda hard for me and…I'm so nervous." Kamala said feeling her palms getting sweaty. "I hear that." Dante chuckled. "Okay, here it is. Dante, will you go out with me as my Valentine date?" Kamala asked. Dante was surprised by this. "But of course. Maybe we could grab a coffee?" He suggested. "I just might like that." Kamala said.
Later, Kamala prepared for her coffee date. She dressed in a nice dress, which she made herself, based off Captain Marvel's suit. "You look beautiful, Kamala." Bruno said as he entered her room. "Thanks, Bruno. You did help me make this, remember?" Kamala asked. "Yeah, I remember. Took hours to find the proper materials for the design." Bruno said. Kamala laughed at that. "You really think I never would've missed my chance with you?" Bruno asked. "Bruno, you've been my best friend for as long as I've known you. And even if this date with Dante works out, you'll always be my best friend. And my first love." Kamala said. Bruno smiled as he hugged her.
Later that evening, Dante and Kamala met up at a coffee shop outside Bay Ridge. "Seriously, you've been writing fanfiction for Captain Marvel for that long?" Dante asked. "Well, yes. Captain Marvel is my favorite superhero ever." Kamala said. Dante chuckled at that. "What about you? Who was your favorite superhero before you got your powers?" Kamala asked. "I…can't really say. I never really had any heroes to look up to when I was thief for the time." Dante said. "I see." Kamala said. "Then again, I don't see why I should have any heroes to look up to. I was a thief." Dante said. "No. You were just a misguided kid who fell in with the wrong crowd. But then you saw through your mistakes and joined with the winning side." Kamala said. "I know, but I still can't atone for my past actions." Dante said. Kamala gently took his hand in comfort. "Your time with the Secret Warriors, the Avengers, and me completely makes up for all that. You're a hero, Dante. And a really good one at that." She said. Dante smiled at that as he gently wrapped his hand with hers.
Later, as they returned to Avengers HQ, Dante and Kamala stood outside the entrance. "I had a wonderful time tonight, Dante." Kamala said. "Me too, Kamala. Thanks for everything you said at the coffee shop." Dante said. "Anything for a fellow Avenger. Especially for one that I love." Kamala said. Dante was touched by that. "I love you too, Kamala." He said. Kamala smiled at that. "But what about your friend Bruno? I understand that you also harbor feelings for him too." Dante said. "That I do." Kamala said. "He's a great guy. And I might be willing to open to a sharable relationship." Dante said. "Hmm. I think I can make time for both of you." Kamala said. Dante smiled at that. Kamala cupped his cheek and pressed her lips against his. Bruno watched this from the window inside with a smile. "I think this will be the start of a beautiful relationship between the 3 of us." He said.
