Chapter 49
Sam peeked around the corner to find a man standing there. Before he could react, she tased him, causing him to drop to the ground, and then shot him point blank. She has no idea where the gunfire that is rapidly getting louder is coming from, but she certainly welcomes the distraction. Spotting an opening in the back of a hedge, she realizes that could be her way in and she crawled over there and used a flashlight to help her see. She's small enough to fit in the space and the drop doesn't look too far, but the backpack won't make it, so she grabs another gun and decides to go for it.
As she fell into the darkness, she prayed she hadn't misjudged the distance until her feet hit the concrete and she almost fell. Turning on the flashlight, she made her way around a pillar, hoping that the light she sees in the distance is where she wants to be.

Ryan and some of his men made it to shore and he can tell someone else has been there, but they are on a mission and began to climb to the top of the ledge. The other teams are providing the distraction that he needs, engaging Helena's men in battle as they slipped onto the island unnoticed. Once they got to the top, they split up into a couple of groups and moved forward. When several men appeared out of nowhere, they took them out quickly. "I need someone to get me into those tunnels." He's convinced that Jason is down there.
"Roger that," someone said.
"Francis?"
"Are you on dry land?"
"Almost, we're about to dock."
"We cleared a path in front. You might have to step over some bodies, but it's clear for now."
"Roger that. I'm coming."
"Milo will wait here for you."
"Ten-Four."
Another group of men exited from the front and are promptly shot.
Francis is shocked when he gets there because there is blood everywhere. Ryan is living up to his reputation.
"Come to E4," a voice said.
"Roger," Ryan said. Naming the entrances was a smart suggestion that his brother gave him.
As he ran to the side, Francis and Milo went through the front door with several men and they swept through the first floor as quickly as they could.

Elizabeth eyed the clock. Every fifteen minutes she swears she might be feeling a contraction. Her water hasn't broken, but either it's Braxton Hicks from the stress, or she could be in trouble. The sounds of gunfire erupting from seemingly every direction are making it impossible to not be scared.
The doorknob jiggles and she is surprised when Helena enters the room.
"I thought I'd stay with you for assurances." She has faith in her men, but just in case, it's always good to have a hostage.
"What's going on?"
"Oh, I'm guessing that Sonny is trying to rescue his partner. He will fail as usual." If it gets worse, she plans on telling the doctor to end Jason early.
"So, he's still alive?"
"Barely…" Helena sat in a chair. "The maid said you were in pain earlier."
"I'm fine."
"Good." Her going into labor is the last thing they need right now.
The maid entered carrying some tea for Helena and then left.
Elizabeth wonders how confident Helena is since she's hanging out. Clearly, things are not going that well. That gives her hope that maybe Sonny and his men will find her and Jason in time. She rubbed her belly. The baby is still quiet which is making her nervous.
"I have decided to give you one week of mourning."
"How sweet of you."
Helena grinned. "I don't do sweet, but even I understand that you think he's your true love. Nikolas will make a suitable husband for you. Of course, I would rather Zander still be alive. He just needed some guidance and grooming, and he could have been a great Cassadine."
Liz stopped herself from rolling her eyes.
The door opens.
"Madame, Nikolas is requesting that you join him."
Helena sighed. "Keep an eye on her."
The maid entered the room as Helena left.
Once she was gone, Elizabeth eyed her. "Is it bad out there?"
"Yes. I am trained and will protect us."
Elizabeth concentrated on her breathing. Hopefully, this will all be over soon.

Sam hurried toward the light and then hid behind what looked like a statue as several men rushed in the direction she had come from. After peaking around a corner and determining that the coast was clear, she made her way down a corridor. It smells like mold and the place looks like it's partially crumbling.
She pushed open a door and is just as surprised to see Stefan as he is to see her.
"Untie me."
He looks like shit.
"I don't have time to help you escape, because they are fighting outside. I'm just not sure who is here."
She grabbed a knife and cut the bands around his wrist and ankles. "Can you walk?"
"No, but I am willing to fight for my life."
She handed him a knife and he placed it on the bed next to him. "I'll come back for you. I promise."
He nodded. It's hard to even suck in a breath.
She slightly opened the door and ducked back when several men ran past. After waiting a long moment, she ran in the direction they had come from. It's eerily quiet. Thinking she hears a voice, she darted down another corridor and thrusts open a door and is stunned to see Carly half naked grouping someone. "What the hell are you doing?"
Carly jerked and then slid off Jason much to his relief.
A gasp left Sam's lips as she moved further into the room. "Jason?"
He can't even move. Whatever they gave him this time made him so high that he could barely keep his eyes open.
"What the hell are you doing here?" Carly said standing.
Sam's attention went to her. "What did you do to him?"
"Nothing yet. He needs me. Helena gave him something and he's hurt."
"So, you thought you'd rape him?"
Carly's eyes narrowed. "He loves me, Sam. Why are you even here?"
"I came here to kill you."
Carly laughed. "Helena won't let that happen."
"Helena is busy running from whoever is gunning for her."
They had moved closer.
"You want a piece of me?"
"Oh yeah."
"No weapons."
Sam put her gun on the counter. "Let's go."
Carly darted forward, using her weight to throw Sam off balance, and then swung, striking her in the mouth.
Sam stumbled and then wiped the blood from her mouth. "I'll give you that one, but you won't get anymore."
Carly smirked. "I already killed your baby. Now it's your turn."
Sam stuffed down her anger. She refuses to let Carly get to her and starts to circle. "How about I shut that huge mouth of yours?" Her fist moved so fast that Carly wasn't prepared and fell to the ground.
She touched her mouth and when she saw the blood, a noise like a growl left her lips and she threw her body at Sam's legs and took her down.

Johnny glanced at his phone for the millionth time.
"Still nothing?" Emily said.
"No."
Emily put down her book and went to his side. "You're going to drive yourself crazy and your blood pressure is high."
"I should be there!"
"Don't yell at me, Johnny O'Brien. I know that you're frustrated but hurting yourself by being stressed is not helping."
He sighed heavily. "I'm sorry."
Maggie approached them. "The doctor will be here to do a scan in a few minutes."
"Great." He's sick of people poking at him.
She studied him for a moment. "You always were the worst patient."
His head tilted.
"Don't look at me like that. You and your brother could never stay still."
"This is hard for me."
"I know. It's the only reason I'm trying to be patient with that attitude of yours." He has been in a foul mood all day.
"Ma."
"We almost lost you, Johnny. You haven't been home in years. Do you know how much I worry about you?"
His eyes perused her as if he was making sure she was okay. "I'm sorry. I should have returned to visit."
"Yes, you should have. Maybe I'm being selfish, but I not only need to care for you but having you here—" She reached out and touched his face. "I know you'll leave in a few weeks, so can you humor me and pretend that you want to be here with your family?"
"You know it's not that. She could be hurt and it's my fault. I didn't have his back either."
"And none of it is because of your doing."
"I do miss you."
Her eyes filled with tears. "You two are going to be the end of me. Ryan is God knows where probably being shot at, and you are here but I can't protect you from a blood clot. I could lose both of you."
He opened his hand and she held on. "I'll do better."
"I just need you to try and rest. Please…"
"It's hard to shut my mind off, but I'll try."
"That's all I ask."

Elizabeth cried out from within the bathroom.
The maid pushed the door open and is shocked by the puddle at her feet. Cursing under her breath in German, she grabbed a towel and tried to clean up. "How long have you been in labor?"
"I'm not sure."
"Let's get you in bed."
Slowly, they made their way back to the bed and the maid got her situated and then began to prepare by retrieving some towels and the first aid kit ready.
A contraction tore through her stomach and Liz cried out again.
The maid tried to call the doctor, but there is no answer. She tried Helena too, but nothing.
"No one is answering. We'll have to do it on our own."
A tear fell down Elizabeth's cheek. "Promise me that you'll do anything to save her."
"I will." If she doesn't, it will mean her life.
IiIiIiIiIiIiIiIiIiIi
Helena went out onto the parapet. "What's going on?"
Nikolas held out his hand and moved her closer and then pointed. "There are boats everywhere and they are firing."
Helena is shocked. "How many?"
"More men than what we have." The situation is dire and he's not sure if whoever Sonny hired will even let him live.
"What do you want to do?"
"We need to get Elizabeth and get out of here."
Helena sighed. "I think that she'll be a liability at this point."
Nikolas's eyes darkened. "What are you saying?"
"We can go through the tunnels to the other side." If they are underground, they can make their way to a secret dock.
"They are everywhere. They'd shoot us out of the water."
"Dammit, Nikolas. We have to try. Is the helicopter out of the question?"
"The guns on their boats could take it down."
"Then what do you suggest?"
"We can hide in the catacombs. There are areas they wouldn't know about. There is food stored there and we'd be fine for several months."
"If you think I'm going to hide like a coward, you're wrong. We'll never get out of here. They'll never stop."
"I'm hoping that once they have Jason, they'll leave."
Helena sighed. "Let them have Elizabeth too. We can get to her and the baby later."
"You promised her to me."
She touched his chest. "And you'll have her, but we must get out of here. I'll make some calls. I can have a fighter jet here within the hour. We'll take out their boats and be fine. You need to trust me."
Nikolas averted his attention, making her think that he is giving in, but in his mind, he was realizing that there are no guards nearby, and this is the perfect chance to get rid of her. With a sinister smile, he turned and looked at her and when she grinned, his hand lashed out and grabbed her neck.
"What are you doing?" she said gripping it.
"I'm doing what I should have done when you initially threatened the woman that I love."
Her eyes grew wide. "You want to kill me over that idiot Emily?"
"She was everything to me and you knew it."
Milo had taken out the guard, so Francis crept closer until he got to the opening and listened.
"Get your hand off me this instant or I swear…"
His finger tightened. "You'll what? You've already taken everything from me. I won't let you touch Elizabeth or that baby too."
Helena made a noise as she tried to take in some air and clawed at his hands.
A shocked Francis watched as Nikolas used his other hand to lift her and Helena's body jerked from the lack of oxygen. Right before she lost consciousness, he hurled her over the side and let go as a scream filtered through the air.
Nikolas leaned over and watched as she hit the rocks below and then turned to find Francis standing there holding a gun.
"I did it for Emily."
Francis started to move forward. "You should have done it a long time ago." Then all hell broke loose.
IiIiIiIiIiIiIiIiIiIi
Carly took Sam to the floor, but the tables turned quickly, and Sam was able to get the upper hand and flipped her onto her back. She balled her fist and started striking Carly in the face repeatedly as the woman she hates most in the world tried to squirm and hold up her hands.
"You fucking killed her," Sam yelled as she struck her over and over.
Carly is bleeding from the nose and mouth as she struggles to grab onto anything, but Sam's hair is pulled back, and the wetsuit isn't helping. She bucked her hips and Sam fell forward, her hands finding Carly's neck and she squeezed, as Carly choked and began to throw punches.
That just pissed Sam off, so she began slamming Carly's head against the floor until the blonde passed out.
Getting up, she stumbled backward to the counter as she watched a pool of blood develop under Carly's head.
Just as the door began to open, she grabbed her gun as a short man entered the room and gasped before running toward Carly.
"Freeze."
He turned to look at Sam. "Well, who are you?"
"Your worst nightmare."
He laughed. "That's usually my line."
"Are you the one that hurt Jason?"
He grinned. "Yes, and now I'll hurt you too." He started to reach into his pocket.
"Then you die."
She fired the gun, striking him in the head and he went down hard, and then she moved closer to Carly and fired off two shots into her chest; right in the heart. She didn't even realize that she is crying. After staring for a moment, she heard a noise and then ran toward Jason and felt his pulse. "Hang in there Jason." She looked at the lock and didn't think she could pick it, so she starts rummaging for the key. There is nothing in the drawers that are in a stand close by, so she checks the doctor's pockets and finds a gun, and several keys. She tries each one, before she finally finds the key that will free Jason, and quickly removes the shackles from his hands and ankles. Jason falls to his side, so she grabbed the blanket and put it over him and then moves his head onto her lap before whispering, "Somehow, we're going to get out of here, I promise."
When the door flew open, she pointed in that direction and starts to press the trigger. There is no way in hell she has come this far just to die.
