Chapter 4:
Thanks to the readers who read this crossover.
It has been months since the meeting of Knight of Two with the staff, and they commence the operations sending their operatives throughout Remnant.
The operative's jobs are to fill the gaps in their information on Remnants, such as Atlas military information, Grimm activities, and White Fangs. The Atlas military was peace a cake for the Britannia that eventually had their backdoor to access their military records, positions, and secrets. Grimm's activities were considered a dangerous job. They required certain skills and were void of emotions to be undetected by Grimm. This is not impossible but possible thanks to enough training and many more. And lastly, the White Fangs are difficult and mostly keep their distance and monitor their movements, tabbing their communications and capturing them for information.
Due to the White Fang's activities, particular attention needed at the "Mountain Glenn" has been rising. So much manpower going to "Mountain Glenn" has decided to send their best team with experience in Aura, fighting, capturing, and many more.
=BREAK=
In one of the destroyed buildings, a lone person wearing a Britannia military infantry with multiple improvements thanks to the technology improvement, for his certain role on the job and carrying his sniper rifle with a silencer attachment. He is scooping to the bullhead that landed, seeing it dropping its cargo.
The soldier immediately communicates back to the base.
"This is... Nest over."
"I can hear. Nest, what's going on?"
"I spotted Vale Bullhead dropping one male adult and four teens to young adults. I suspect they came from Beacon, and I presume that they are here for a mission."
"Hold for a moment. Then, contacting back to Intelligent for further information."
The sniper waited from the base to see what the command would say. Finally, he decides to keep on them and ensure they won't find their base and stash.
"OK. Nest, I can provide the information. First, the male is Dr. Oobleck, a history teacher from Beacon and licensed Hunter, and the four females are students from Beacon, and they are Team RWBY…"
The base gives further information about the RWBY of their names and first-year students. And the sniper is questioning why a first year here shouldn't be a higher year.
"And lastly, keep an eye on them. Make sure they don't find out outposts, stash, and BOS... wait a moment..."
He waited again while keeping an eye on them. He doesn't have to wait long.
"OK. It seems like RWBY is becoming a VIP from the top. You know why they become a VIP."
The sniper smiles and doesn't bother to complain since he knows why team RWBY is becoming VIP. And said, "and let me, guest... Keep an eye on them and assess them the best I can without getting caught. Additional reporting if they find our outpost and so forth on?"
"Affirmative. And someone will take place. I wish you luck. Nest. All hail Britannia."
"All hail Britannia."
The sniper mission has an update from an overwatch position to watch any threat coming close to their base and outpost and hideout to watch over Team RWBY and assets when necessary. 'Better than overwatch.'
The sniper monitors Team RWBY, Dr. Oobleck, and a dog that came from Ruby's bag.
The sniper adjusts his position by jumping from building to building to monitor them. Eventually, he takes down a Grimm that passes Team RWBY's sight preventing the red hair known as Ruby from getting hurt.
=BREAK=
Team RWBY is hunting down Grimms, and Dr. Oobleck is monitoring the students, and of course, he can jump in, but he knows the student needs experience.
One such lucky Grimm could sneak close enough to attack, which it roared and prepared to attack Ruby, and she was about to use her semblance to move away from the attack of the Grimm.
The Grimm fall and begin dissolving. This surprised Ruby, and she said, "It wasn't me~" neither her teammates nor professor.
"Seems like someone been watching us." Dr. Oobleck said, looking around to find the shooter and even a sound he couldn't find. But, then, he thought, 'Seems like my senses aren't wrong that we have been watching and mask his gun.'
Blake can get the faint sound of the rifle thanks to her Faunus ear and know a certain angle it came from but can't get a pinpoint location since the shooter uses a silencer.
Ruby begins to look around and uses her weapon with the scope to look through by looking toward the buildings to find the person who has saved her.
"So… Sis, did you finder your savior?" Yang asks with that cocky smile.
"No. I can't find him."
Dr. Oobleck just nodded and said, "Let's continue."
"But… Pro-"
"Doctor. Ms. Schnee. We will continue but on guard and check your surroundings. Don't we know what this sniper's agenda is… is he watching us? Waiting for the right time to kill us? We will have the opportunity once the time comes."
"So… we are just hunting Grimm and letting the sniper watch us?" Blake asks, doubting her professor.
"No, we will wait for the right time to catch our sniper and ask questions."
Dr. Oobleck gives more reasons to continue hunting and be on guard at the right time to catch the sniper. The girls agree with his logic and reasons.
=BREAK=
The sniper reports his kill and reason. The command replies by continuing to his current objective and being more cautious not to get caught by the team.
Nest, the sniper, adjusted his monitor to get closer, which he didn't like because he knows eventually, he would get caught. Unfortunately, team RWBY and Dr. Oobleck are making his monitor much more difficult with their constant adjustment.
Nest has reported back to command of their movement, which direction resulting the patrol team being rerouted or heading to their closes safehouse and bunker down until Team RWBY and Dr. Oobleck pass through.
He even has a couple of close encounters with Grimm, which he easily takes down, but there's time he nearly gets exposed by those damn Grimm.
Nest is getting closer and closer, just that he can maintain his monitor eventually. "This is Nest. Over."
"What is it? Nest."
"I'm requesting to assist my monitoring of Team RWBY and the Dr. since I have to get closer to keep an eye on them. Their movement is forcing me to get closer and somehow get caught."
He's not wrong. He's already a couple of blocks away from them. However, he thinks he will eventually get caught and still monitor.
"Affirmative. We will join a team to take your place, and once they make their report, you are ordered to move to the nearest safe house."
"Roger that."
He continues monitoring and eventually notices odd girls, and the doctor is looking around and shouting, 'Zwei!' and 'Zwei, where are you?!'.
'Wait… where's the dog?!' he thought and began looking around through his scope and imagining that the dog found him.
A joyful loud barking came from behind him, shocking him, and he turned around to see a black-headed tricolor Pembroke Welsh Corgi with grey eyes. The dog is waggling his tail happily, which means he has found him.
His mind boggled and eventually caught up and thought, 'You clever boy.' knowing the barking sound might be enough to get him to compromise and curse his luck because he got caught by a dog.
His hands went to a pointing finger and doing the 'ssh' near his mouth even though he was wearing his helmet, and the dog continued barking loudly and happily, eventually hearing the sound 'ZWEI! I'M COMING!' a female voice coming from the ground floor, and he's cursing his luck.
He looks behind, seeing the flower petal leaving a trace behind.
'Ah! Fuck it!'
He stands up and jumps out from his spot to the next building, trying to make distance from the dog and maybe gain enough distance and hoping luck is on his side.
"WAIT!"
=BREAK=
Ruby finally made it to Zwei's room he is in and said, "ZWEI! Oh, Zwei! You have no idea how worried I was about you!"
Zwei is at the broken wall, standing, his paw on the wall and barking in his direction, and Ruby sees the person running.
Ruby quickly says to Zwei, "Good boy! Zwei! Zwei. Good back to the rest, and I'll catch up with him." She praises Zwei, and of course, Zwei barks happily back to Ruby, looks at her, and heads to the door.
She quickly shouted, "WAIT!" and then used her semblance to gain distance from the runner.
While Ruby is chasing this person, she notices the person is wearing a military uniform. The person is wearing a gray jumpsuit, flak vest, two pauldrons, and helmet. 'Whoever is… they are wearing different than Atlas soldiers.' She thought.
Ruby chased him around until reaching one of the buildings, where she followed him.
She didn't hear her teammate shouting her name by stopping her.
=BREAK=
"I have been compromised! I repeat! I have been compromised!"
Nest isn't having a good day and currently hiding in one of the rooms of the building. He's hiding one of the pillars of the building.
He needs to move fast before the girl finds him. He's taking a breather before he makes his escape.
"Nest! What do you mean you have been compromised?" Hear from his helmet communication.
"I repeat, sir. I have been compromised and chased by a girl with fucking speed semblance. Her semblance is leaving a trace of flower petals." Check the pillar corner to see if the girl has entered the room.
"C'mon! I want to say, 'Thank you for saving my life!" A girl shouted from the entrance to the door.
He looks around the room again to find an exit and a broken window. He looks again at the entrance to the door before making his run.
"How did you get compromised?" through the radio.
"Sorry. *Take a breather* Can't answer. Still trying to escape from the girl."
He nods to himself and makes a run to the window, but looking toward the door, he sees a flower petal heading toward him.
'Fuck! The girl is waiting for me!'
He prepares himself for the tackle from the girl. And the girl tackles him to the ground.
"Got yeah!"
Before his instinct kicks in to deal with this situation, he remembers that this girl is a VIP and that if he does anything stupid. Let's say he might get a court martial or worse. So he begins to think of a plan and…
"Let me go!"
He's trying to push the girl away, harming her or pulling out his rather difficult pistol. But he knows he doesn't get much time before her teammate and the professor come.
Then his communication through his helmet receives a new order saying "Nest. Change of orders. Your situation has been updated. You're going to be with them until they leave. For now, you're staying with them and trying to keep them away from our bases."
'Fuck! Doing fucking babysitting missions. But babysitting this VIP won't be that bad.'
"No! I'm not letting go! If I do, you're just going to run away!" She still holds him, but their position can give the wrong meaning to some viewers.
"Ruby!" A yellow hair girl enters the room seeing her teammate on the top of Nest hugging him.
"God damn it! Let me go! I'm not going to run! And think about our situation!" He shouted and tried to get her off.
The rest of the team RWBY, the professor, and the dog, entered the room. The yellow girl grabbed a girl called 'Ruby.' "C'mon! Ruby! How you hug and hold him can put a bad image on people. And you're not running away?" The question is pointing toward Nest.
"Yes, I'm not running. The odds are against me."
-BREAK-
They are still in the Room. They introduced themselves, Team RWBY, Professor Oobleck started first, and Zwei and sniper introduced themselves as 'Nest'.
"Nest?" Yang asked.
"Yes, it's my callsign. And no. I won't be telling my name. Orders are orders." He said with a satisfying voice through his voice. Yang could see him smiling under his helmet, which irritated her.
Before Yang complained, the professor said, "Well… Hello, Nest. Can we trust you?" With seriousness in his voice.
"Yes. You can trust me. And we need a place to settle down for the night. This place isn't good, and this might fall."
Professor Oobleck agrees, and Yang's teammate to her to 'let go of the naming, which makes let worse.
-BREAK-
Through their patrolling of the city, the professor asked team RWBY questions, except for Ruby. Nest is quite helpful, having an extra sniper and knowing much about the terrain saying 'Not there. High chance of that building going to collapse.' To many more. But there is some lack of trust in him.
Professor Oobleck went to Nest and asked him, "What are you doing here?"
"I'm just a soldier. Dr., I just follow orders." So respecting what Dr. Oobleck prepares to be called.
"Even they are against morale, humane and killing them?"
"Yes. Suppose such a threat is greater than imagined. Then, I'll take that shot. Sometimes death leads to peace."
"I see…" The doctor looks at him. He's trying to understand. He asks the soldier more questions, which he can't and won't answer due to class or 'above my pay grade.' And lastly, "I'll have to tell than kill you."
The doctor knows little but knows why to join the military due to his 'kingdom' culture, his 'idol' whom he looks greatly that shows the greater meaning and the 'leader' whom he is willing to obey and die for with such great respect and great for a ruler. He believes this soldier came from far greater than Atlas kingdom and isn't part of any kingdom but independent. That Dr. Oobleck has no idea of how vast, advanced, and powerful the 'kingdom' he belongs to is. But there's one thing he is sure of: this soldier belongs to the 'kingdom' that isn't known through Remnant, possibly a new build kingdom with powerful people who distrust the Kingdoms and build their own that filed great minds and skilled soldiers.
They continue to travel together as a group until night to set camp.
They set camp in one of the destroyed buildings. The building has a roof over them and a great sniper position that gives anyone taking the watch 360 views. In the camp, Weiss, Blake, and Yang set fire to and eat the MRE that was already set up ahead of time for them. The MRE is shocking and better than the MRE Altas provide to their soldiers, and Nest is in the sniper position, eating his MRE.
"So… What do you think about this 'Nest' guy?" Yang asks her other two teammates sitting on their roll beds.
"He's a solider." Yang said.
"He has years of experience and is better than Atlas," Blake replies.
"How sure are you, Blake?" Weiss asks her.
Blake gives her a look at her experience being a White Fang until Weiss understands what Blake means.
"OK! Students! We will rest here for the night." Dr. Oobleck appeared, and Ruby came behind to get close to the fire, warming herself. "Who's taking the first watch?!"
"Already taking watch." Nests said on his spot, watching around.
Dr. Oobleck nodded, and Ruby volunteered for the next watcher.
-BRAKE-
Nest took a couple of hours of shut eyes because he was being forced by the team RWBY, which he isn't complaining that it's nice to have shut eyes once in a while, knowing his sniper position required long hours without any sleep.
Then he hears the beeping through his radio that wakes him up. "Yeah? What is it?"
"The VIP has fallen in a hole."
He was confused and alert and said, "What do you mean the VIP fell in a hole?" Then he looked around to see Ruby wasn't in her roll bed. And thought, 'Fuck.'
"Can you recap?"
He got his recap of how Ruby followed Zwei leading to two White Fang grunts patrolling and then falling into a pit hole, leaving her weapon on the street. After getting enough information, he thought, 'This mission gets south very fast.' Then he hears an additional order.
"Nest, get the rest of Team RWBY and Dr. Oobleck to the pit hole location, and we already have a couple of men on site waiting for you."
"Roger that."
He got up and said, "C'mon, Ladies! Get up! No time for beauty sleep!"
Blake and Weiss groaned, and even Yang groaned from her watch until look toward the campsite and said, "Where's Ruby?"
Then Dr. Oobleck came around the corner, and Zwei came into the room barking.
Nest said while getting gears, "Get your weapons because Ruby Rose is in danger, and she's going to need our help."
-BRAKE-
Nest and Zwei are in the lead, followed by Team WBY and Dr. Oobleck following behind them.
"How would you know my sister is the trouble?" Yang asks while following Nest and Zwei.
"My colleague keeps eye contact with her when she leaves the camp, and we are near where she was last seen."
What Nest explains makes Yang worry, and they go to the site where Ruby was last seen.
The scene has Ruby's weapon on the ground, eight soldiers wearing like Nest, and one soldier wearing more design, giving him a leader in the squad.
"Sgt. Nest. I'm WO, and I have one of the best selected for this rescue operation here. And it's over there."
The Wo officer pointed over to the hole.
"So… Ruby fell to this fall?"
"Yes, the ground shook under her feet, and she fell into it. And, further digging information about this city, we're an underground city build."
Then Dr. Oobleck commences saying about the city's history of how the people live underground and how one earthquake leads to the death of every city resident.
One of the soldiers said, "White Fangs still must patrol. The last want to get killed when you're asleep."
"Enough… Let's go! We had a rescue operation commence. And lastly, we are going to get reinforcement." The officer leads his troop, and they obey even Nest. Dr. Oobleck and the remaining RWBY follow them.
"So… We are heading first, and more troops like you are coming in?" Yang asks.
"Yes, this we operate. Miss, rescue, capture and kill if necessary. Let's go."
Blake doesn't like the last part but remembers that they are soldiers who operate very differently than Atlas, whom she has faced.
-BREAK-
Dr. Oobleck and WBY saw how this small section formed. With such strict orders from the WO, order of silence, and quick.
The soldier is going through a quick takedown or killing them with a knife. They are seeing a special level of soldiers.
Yang complains in a whisper, "Why are you going quiet? And if anything happens to my sister?"
"With this… your sister is safe. The last thing we wanted to have your sister get the situation we don't want or worse." Nest whispered back while scoping through his rifle.
"Like what?" Weiss whisper.
"Like death."
That made them quiet, but Blake didn't want to believe it until hearing one of them saying, "With the current leader in Vale, there's been a report of how much 'he' will do for his revenge. Trust me, girl. Got to accept the present."
They continued skillfully until one White Fang grunt noticed and shouted, "Hey! Stop right there!" The first person who will deal with the grunt is no one than certain blond hair.
"Finally! Someone action!" She activated her weapon and commenced her attack.
Nest thought, 'There goes our stealth, but at least we have the element of surprise.'
-BREAK-
Ruby is beaten to the ground by Roman, who's enjoying it since Ruby gives so much trouble.
"Hoho…! I haven't had this much fun for a long time."
Then an explosion is heard miles away, and a female voice shouts, "RUBY?!"
"What the?" Roman said in confusion. During the confusion, Ruby uses her semblance to the explosion. "Wha?!" His hand reaches for Ruby.
"Yang!" Ruby shouted, and her sister shouted, "Ruby!"
Ruby sees that her team, professor, and more soldier wear similar to Nest.
The soldier gets in their position to fire on the White Fangs. And one of the soldiers was in charge carrying her weapon, which she hugged dearly.
"OK! Boys and Girls! Get on the train! We are advancing the operation!" Roman shouted, heading to the head of the train.
The soldier was firing until the officer noticed and shouted, "They are getting on the train! So… professor, where does that trail lead?"
Professor thought and said, "The training led to Vale. But, unfortunately, it's been blocked up since the fall of Mountain Glenn."
Weiss said, "What are they heading to, Vale?"
Ruby tries calling with her scroll, and no answer and decides to…
"We stop that train!" Ruby said and then ran to the train, followed by her team and professor.
Soldiers are busy shooting any White Fangs firing back or running toward the train and asking, "What are we going to do?"
A voice behind said, "Contact back HQ and inform the situation, and might send forces to Vale. With their stockpile of dust and explosives, either they will blow up Vale to give such negative emotion throughout Remnant or worst…."
The officer looked behind and saw a special operation team and reinforcement, the special force trained by the best what 'Kingdom' they came from and "Ah! The special operation team! We will send the message. Sir."
The four special operation team wearing is similar to Britannia soldier but has an adjustment that fits their field of expertise and semblance.
"C'mon! Team! We are going to assist them! And you know your roles, soldiers!" So, the team leader said to head to the train with the leadership team, and a couple of soldiers followed them to the train.
-BREAK-
Team RWBY with their Professor, followed by soldiers that have jumped on the train.
They jumped on the top of the train to see that it contained a lot of dust and a device…
"Ah… what's that?"
"That's a bomb. Possible of remote detonate or time detonate."
A soldier jumps inside to defuse, but "The bomb activates itself! And I don't have enough time to disarm it!"
"Get out of there! And disconnect the train!" The leader shouted, and they obeyed this, headed to the next train, and Blake jumped down to disconnect.
Blake disconnected and shouted, "The train just disconnected itself!"
They see the train slowly back away and explode. Then, the top of the tunnel breaches a hole. Grimm jumps down and follows the train.
The professor quickly went to the hatch of the train and opened and shouted, "All the train has a bomb!"
They keep moving to the next train, which gives a similar result to the previous train result.
"What are we going to do?" Yang asks.
"We are going to stop the train."
"Uh… I just said that, professor." Ruby added a comment.
"Oh."
Professor Oobleck, Ruby, and the rest of the soldiers remain on the top to deal with the White Fangs on the roofs of the train. And Yang and Blake jump down to head to the control of the train.
"We got contacts!"
"Then! We take them out! Pick your target!"
Ruby noticed something their weapon was very different than her weapon. One, their weapon looks very different, and she wants to ask questions about it and forgets that there's another sniper 'Nest', which she goes asking him. Every time he avoids the question, he needs his superior permission, which makes her angry.
Professor Oobleck, Ruby, and the soldiers deal with the White Fang's grunts at ease and send the mechanical battlesuit.
"They're sending their battlesuit! Remember to aim for their weak point!" The leader of the soldiers shouted his orders to the rest of the soldiers. "Elz! Use your semblance sparingly! We might need getter outer when those two girls can stop the train."
"Yes, sir!"
=BREAK=
"Who the Oum are they?!" White Fang grunted and shouted, carrying his rifle.
"I don't know! But they are hugely different than Atlas!" Others grunted and shouted, then got shot, falling out of the train.
Even the battlesuits don't have a good time. One shot pierces through armor, hitting the pilot and aiming at certain components of the battlesuit, such as the legs.
One battlesuit pilot shouted through his communication, "Shot those soldiers instead! But wait? Is that flying fire dog?! FLYING RIGHT AT ME?!"
=BREAK=
The White Fangs continue sending their Battlesuits toward Professor Oobleck, Ruby, and the soldiers. They deal waves of White Fangs until Professor Oobleck decides to tell Ruby to go ahead, and he decides to teach the White Fangs a couple of lessons. So, along with Zwei, follow Oobleck giving Ruby his permission.
"So… what now? Sir?"
"I'll join the professor. And the rest of you go with the girl." The leader said and added, "You are in charge now." To the second in command. He follows Professor Oobleck.
"Got it, sir." He saluted.
Ruby had seen them operated on and saw on her face thinking is he going to be OK? Which second-in-command said, "Don't worry about him. He's a skilled officer. They are going to take down a lot of those White Fangs and be able to work perfectly with your professor."
The nine soldiers and Ruby run toward the front but stop a couple of cars and top open to reveal Yang and Blake joining the group.
"What now?"
"I suggest that we need some cover and brace for impact."
Ruby looked toward Weiss, and Weiss got the message to use her weapon to create a barrier along with one of the soldier's created barriers with his semblance.
The front of the train hit the barricade and exploded.
AN: And… Done! This takes a while and a lot of going back to rewrite and fixing on this chapter, trying to get a good flow on the story and the chapter.
