Sora, Kairi, Pikachu, Angel, and the Cooper Gang rode in the Cooper Gang right to their first mission. Along the way, Sora, Kairi, Pikachu, and Angel were filled in on the first member of the Fiendish Five.
The road trip gave me the time I needed to study up on Sir Raleigh the frog. As a young man, this hot-tempered frog grew bored of his life of luxury and privilege. On a whim, he tried his hand at a bit of piracy and found it to his liking. Raleigh, who quickly became addicted to crime, was brought into the Fiendish Five as chief machinist, where his evil tinkering genius rose to new heights. The last reported sighting of this mad machinist was off the southern coast of the Isle of Wrath, a small island uncomfortably situated in the middle of the perilous Welsh Triangle.
The Cooper Van arrives to the Isle of Wrath. Sora, Kairi, Sly, Pikachu, and Angel stepped out of the van and began their mission. They found that it's raining.
Sly smashes the "keep out" sign and they get into range to a gate. On the other side of the gate are thorn bushes and a search light shining and an alarm machine.
"Hey, Sly! I just spotted something that's going to complicate the mission. See that nasty looking gate? It blocks the only road leading into Raleigh's hideout," Bentley said.
"No problem. We can just climb in," Sly said.
"Maybe we can use that ladder over there," Kairi said.
"Even if we do get through, there are search lights shining down. And there could be guards there, and it takes just one of them to sound the alarm," Sora said.
"Oh, I live for this stuff," Sly said.
"Yeah, and that's what worries me. But be careful, because there could be Heartless inside of Raleigh's base," Bentley said.
"And the Keyhole could be inside there, so we just gotta look," Kairi said.
"She's right. But we're not gonna find out just by standing around," Sora said.
"Pikachu," Pikachu said.
"Eevee," Angel said.
"Agreed. Get to it, you three," Bentley said.
"On it," Sora, Kairi, and Sly said.
Sora, Kairi, Sly, Pikachu, and Angel snuck over to the ladder and climbed over it. Once they got the other side, Sly took out the alarm machine, thus turning off the search light.
As they went forward, they spotted a blimp in the distance, and it's creating a storm. And they noticed several sunken ships.
"According to my Amphibio-Positioning System, that big blimp is where Raleigh is hiding out," Bentley said.
"You know, that blimp looks more like a machine than a hideout," Sly said.
"You're right, Sly. That is a storm machine! It's the reason why it never stops raining around here," Bentley said.
"That explains all the wrecked ships," Sly said.
"It's like a graveyard here," Kairi said.
"Raleigh is gonna answer for this," Sora said.
"But why would Raleigh want bad weather at his own hideout, 24/7?" Bentley asked.
"That's a good question," Sora said.
"Beats me, but rain or shine, I'm going to steal my family's book back. And if Raleigh gets in our way... it's on," Sly said.
"Here we go," Sora said.
Inside of the blimp is a green frog with brown eyes. He wears no clothes except for white gloves, white shoe spats over his feet and a distinctive blue top hat made of metal. He has yellow, crooked teeth. Ganondorf is making contact with a magical vortex.
"I trust your storm is going smoothly, Sir Raleigh," Ganondorf said.
"Oh, it is, my lord. The Heartless you provided me will be very useful," Sir Raleigh said.
"I am glad to hear you have confidence in the Heartless, but do not let your guard down, because if you are careless, then the Heartless will devour your heart," Ganondorf said. The frog just laughed.
"Your concern is hardly necessary," Sir Raleigh said.
Just before they got to go in further, Sly spots a vault. He figured the frog would have a page of the Thievius Raccoonus inside.
"Bentley, I found a vault. Think you can crack it?" Sly asked.
"Can I crack it? Is Murray pink? The code is 7-9-2," Bentley said. Sly cracks the safe and took out a torn page.
"Is that it?" Sora asked.
"It is. This came from my ancestor, Drake Cooper. It teaches me his dive move. Should come in handy," Sly said as he took out his calling card and placed it inside.
They made it inside of Raleigh's base of operations. The blimp is right in the middle.
"There she is," Sora said. Sly makes contact with Bentley again.
"That blimp looks like the most secured location on this boat. If Raleigh's really as smart as his police file suggests, then that's where I'll find him," Sly said.
"Wonderful idea, but your plan is flawed," Bentley said.
"Why?" Sly asked.
"Because it's impossible to get near him. I'm picking up multiple readings, because there are guards all around, and they won't let you near the place that easily, and not to mention, there's the Heartless," Bentley said.
"And he's not kidding. I think I see one," Sora said, pointing to a Large Body out and patrolling with the guards.
"You think Raleigh is using the Heartless to attack the boats as well?" Kairi asked.
"Most likely, because I picked up some distress calls from the boats communications. There were sailors and passengers say that they saw monsters in the storm, so I can bet my money that's the Heartless," Bentley said.
"Thought so," Kairi said.
"Maybe that blimp is where the Keyhole is," Sora said.
"Pikachu," Pikachu agreed.
"Most likely. And if it is, then one of you will have to seal it with your Keyblades," Bentley said.
"And Bentley said it's impossible," Sly said.
"Fine, but I warned you! There could be more pages of the Thievius Raccoonus in some of the vaults, but they'll be heavily guarded," Bentley said.
"Don't worry, Bentley. If any Heartless gets in the way, we can take them out," Kairi said.
"That's my girl," Sora said, making Kairi blush.
"Enough chit-chat. Let's get right to it," Sly said as he, Sora, Kairi, Pikachu, and Angel heads right for the boat. Upon reaching it, Sir Raleigh spoke through the intercom.
"I say chaps, my heartiest congratulations to you all! The storm machine has sunk its fiftieth ship last night, and the loot has already been unloaded. Our operation is moving along splendidly, with the possible exception being the grounds negligence displayed below decks. And, I demand the boilers stay at full pressure at all times! If you lazy, low-brow, technically incompetent pack of guttersnipes did your jobs right, we'd have sunk 100 ships by now! But of course, fifty boats is a fine, fine achievement. And if there are any intruders, I have the Heartless to deal with any unwanted visitors. Carry on, my boys, carry on," Raleigh said through the intercom.
"He must think he's a pirate," Kairi said.
"Well, he's gonna walk the plank," Sora said.
"Pikachu," Pikachu said.
"Eevee," Angel said.
"Well, Raleigh is about to be boarded, mateys," Sly said.
With that said, Sora, Kairi, Sly, Pikachu, and Angel did some sneaking around and been careful not being seen by some Raleigh's guards, which some were walruses, both having stars and mallets, and squids with flashlights.
Sly picked a few pockets and knocked some of the guards out. They make it into the engine room. They shut the furnace doors as flames erupts.
"Eureka! We're in the engine room! My analysis tells me that if you trace the spinning crankshaft all the way back to its source, you'll find Raleigh's vault, and sabotage his machine while you're at it," Bentley said.
"No problem," Sly said.
As they ventured through the engine room, keeping their eyes opened for any signs of the Heartless.
Unknown to them, there are some Team Rocket grunts that have taken some anthromorphic animal forms, watching them. One is a hyena and the other is a Tasmanian devil.
"Is that raccoon wearing the Cooper symbol on his belt buckle?" The Tasmanian devil asked. He looked at the belt buckle. "He is! And those are the kids with the Keyblades! The same ones who foiled our operations in Kanto, and the ones who had Dracula buried and Mother Brain busted."
"Giovanni wanted us to have them follow us here, and it worked. The frog would like to have his luck with him," the hyena said.
"This isn't right? I shouldn't be here in this fur coat! I should be back in Hollow Bastian with the boss and setting up with the big plan. We have three of the Princesses of Heart as he called them and witness the opening of the door. But instead, we're playing hide and seek with those little punks!" The Tasmanian devil growled.
"Are you going to whine about it or are you going to do your part?" The hyena asked.
"Oh, I am. I mean, just as long I'm here. The Heartless should get the job done," the Tasmanian devil said, summoning several Shadows and Gangsters. "Let's make this fun." He laughed.
Sly managed to teach Sora and Kairi how to sneak around and avoid alerting the guards. Sora and Kairi used their Keyblades to grab a couple of guards and knocked them out.
Just then, several Shadows and Gangsters appeared before them.
"Heartless!" Sora and Kairi exclaimed.
"Pika!" Pikachu said.
"Eevee!" Angel said.
"This just makes it even more interesting, doesn't it?" Sly asked.
"It does, Sly," Kairi said.
"Vee," Angel said.
"Let's take them out," Sora said.
"Pika," Pikachu said.
Sora, Kairi, Sly, Pikachu, and Angel engaged the Heartless as they go through the engine room. As they fought their way through, they eventually found the vault.
"Bentley, we found the vault," Sly said.
"Great! I can't believe I pieced this one together! Try 2-2-7," Bentley said. Sly cracked the safe with the combination and Sly found another page from the Thievius Raccoonus.
"Here we go. This page is about Sally Cooper, and according to this, she could move faster rolling than than anyone on the run," Sly said, placing his calling card in the vault.
"Now that's cool," Sora said.
"Wow, I could roll like a Sandshrew," Kairi said.
"Eevee," Angel said.
"Pikachu," Pikachu said.
After doing a number on the engines, they entered what looks like Sir Raleigh's personal chambers.
"Look at all this stuff!" Sora said.
"Pikachu," Pikachu said.
"These have to cost a fortune," Kairi said.
"And Bentley would say that means tighter security. This has got to be where that frog keeps his valuables. And this is where the fun is," Sly said.
"Aren't you the least bit worried, Sly?" Kairi asked with concern.
"Not in the slightest, but it's about time we put those lessons I gave you to good use," Sly said.
Sora and Kairi were nervous when security lasers were going around. They knew it was gonna get tricky, but they had to follow Sly's lead in this. The managed to avoid setting off alarms. Pikachu and Angel destroyed the alarm machine just so they wouldn't sound. They came across what looked like some statues of Raleigh and security lasers ringing the statues. Pikachu and Angel reached the statues and destroyed the alarm machine, allowing them to find another vault.
"Bentley, I found another vault," Sly said.
"Whoever thought this code up knew what they were doing. Dial in 4-3-6," Bentley said. Sly dials the combination and opened the safe. Sly took what looked like blueprints.
"That doesn't look like a page from your Thievius Raccoonus, Sly," Sora said.
"That's because it isn't. These are the blueprints of Raleigh's operations. We now know Raleigh's plans," Sly said. He placed his calling card in the vault.
After leaving Raleigh's private quarters, their next destination was the ship's library. As they get close to the first rug near them, they see some rats being used for target practice for some dart guns disguised as globes.
"Whoa! Did you see that?" Sora asked.
"Pika," Pikachu said. Sly makes contact with Bentley.
"Those rats got pegged," Sly said.
"Raleigh appears to have booby-trapped this entire place," Bentley said.
"He's really not taking any chances here," Kairi said.
"Eevee," Angel said.
"I'm going to enjoy this," Sly said.
"Don't you get it, Sly? If you step on that rug... forget about becoming a master thief. You'll be a master dartboard," Bentley said. Sly looked at a barrel just next to them.
"Wait a second. What if I jumped into that barrel for protection?" Sly asked.
"I don't know. It looks pretty risky. And very unsanitary," Bentley said.
"Only one way to find out!" Sly said.
Sly jumped in the barrel and slipped right in.
"You sure about this Sly?" Kairi asked.
"Yeah, Bentley did say it's risky," Sora said.
"Life is all about taking risks," Sly said. He used the barrel to step forward on the rug. The guns fired and hits the barrel. He jumped out and smashed the guns into pieces. "Okay, it's safe to come." Sora, Kairi, Pikachu, and Angel walked forward and met up with Sly. He spots two more barrels for each of them. "I think you can make good use of those."
"Well, I might as well," Sora said, getting in the barrel. Pikachu goes in with him. Kairi and Angel goes in the other one.
"Okay, you two. Let's go. Now," Sly said as they walked. Sly is ahead of them as Sora and Kairi followed. Sly spotted a squid guard coming. Sly dropped, so Sora and Kairi dropped, too. The guard went by them. The barrels moved, but the guard turned around, but they stopped. He scratched his head, but shrugged his shoulders. He goes back on patrol. "Okay, the coast is clear." Sly moves ahead again as Sora and Kairi followed.
The couple followed the raccoon right through the library, and leaving their "disguise" on. There was a point in the library that they had to abandon the disguise and head right for the vault.
"Bentley, we're in position. We're need that combination," Sora said.
"That should be simple. Dial in 2-4-2," Bentley said. Sly dials the combination and it opens up.
"So, whose section of the Thievius Raccoonus is that?" Kairi asked.
"Eevee?" Angel asked.
"This one is from Dev Cooperinda, and this one is how he invented the slow motion jump. This one can come in handy," Sly said. He took out his calling card and placed it inside.
They exited the library and headed right inside the lighthouse, and they saw it was another furnace.
"Right out of thr frying pan and right into the fire!" Sora said.
"Pikachu!" Pikachu said.
"There's the vault, it's right there," Kairi said.
"Bentley, we found the vault, so we need the combination!" Sly said.
"No code can withstand me! The code is 5-7-9!" Bentley said. Sly dials it in and took out another page of the Thievius Raccoonus.
"This one is from Chris Cooper. An extension of the dive move," Sly said. He took out his calling card and puts it inside. Just then, several Heartless appeared from out of the blue.
These Heartless all resembles frogs, but they look like that their skins are almost made of lava. The Heartless emblem is on their bellies. These are known as Fire Frogs.
"Thought it was too easy," Sora said.
Sora, Kairi, Sly, Pikachu, and Angel engaged the Fire Frogs as they hopped on over. They spit up fireballs at them, but Sora deflects it with his Keyblade. He casts a water spell on them, cooling them down, and turning them brown. Sora then smashed one of them with a swing of his Keyblade. Kairi does the same thing with hers. Pikachu and Angel combined their Iron Tail attacks and takes out the Heartless.
Several more Fire Frogs show up when they progressed even further. Sora, Kairi, Sly, Pikachu, and Angel destroyed the frog-like Heartless as they progressed even further.
Upon exiting after doing some work on the generators, they stepped right out and head even further on the ship.
"Astonishing! All my calculations led me to you would fail ti knock out that generator!" Bentley said.
"Never was good at math," Sly said.
"Well, here's a real test for you..." Bentley said.
"What is it, Bentley?" Kairi asked.
"I've found a way up to Raleigh's hideout, but unfortunately, it is doomed to failure," Bentley said.
"Doomed to failure? Why?" Sora asked.
"I think Bentley means I have to shoot myself out of that cannon," Sly said.
"I'm afraid that's the only way," Bentley said.
"Now you're talking," Sly said with a grin.
"You're really scaring me, man," Bentley said.
"There could be several Heartless inside and we'll take them all out when they get in the way," Sora said.
"Alright, let's do this thing," Sly said.
"Pika," Pikachu said.
They entered into what looks like a ship graveyard.
"This is terrible. Raleigh did all this?" Kairi asked.
"He thinks that he's a pirate, so he does what he loves to do," Sly said. The sound of an intercom goes off.
"Ahoy, dock hands! Capital job unloading that cargo last night. You're the crown jewel of my operation. Do me the service of proving your worth yet again by protecting the vault that I have stored down there. It appears there are prowlers on the premises. And if any of you let them get their hands on that page, I'll personally flog the lot of you for an entire fortnight!" Raleigh said through the intercom.
"Sounds like he's admiring the work we've been doing," Sly said.
"But he's gonna be in for some hardships when we get your book back," Sora said.
"Not the bigger hardships than you're about to have, me little bucko!" A voice called out. It turns out to be the Tasmanian devil and hyena that were watching them.
"Team Rocket!" Sora roared.
"Oh, the cute, little kitty recognizes us," the hyena laughed.
"I knew you'd show up again," Kairi said.
"You weren't disappointed. Giovanni wants you two out of the way after that stunt you pulled in Saffron City," the Tasmanian devil said.
"Now we're about to show you what happens if you mess with us," the hyena said, taking out a Dusk Ball and threw it. "Go! Golbat!" His Duskball opened and his Golbat came right out. The Tasmanian devil took out a Pokéball and threw it.
"Go! Poliwrath!" The Tasmanian devil shouted. Poliwrath emerged from inside. Sora and Kairi each took out a Pokéball and threw it.
"Let's go, Hitmonchan!" Sora called out.
"I choose you, Jolteon!" Kairi called out. Jolteon came out to battle.
"Sly, we'll deal with them, you go for the vault," Sora said.
"On it," Sly said, going on ahead.
"Poliwrath! Use Brick Break!" The Tasmanian devil ordered.
"Dodge and use Thunder Punch!" Sora ordered. Hitmonchan dodged and came at Poliwrath with a Thunder Punch.
"Use Submission!" The Tasmanian devil ordered. Poliwrath grabbed Hitmonchan and went rolling. Poliwrath then gave the Punching Pokémon a toss. Poliwrath took some recoil damage.
"Golbat! Use Poison Fang!" The hyena ordered. Golbat flew at Jolteon with a Poison Fang.
"Jolteon! Dodge and use Quick Attack!" Kairi ordered. Jolteon dodges and lands a hit with his lightning speed attack. "Thunder Thunder Fang!" Jolteon lands an electrified bite on the Bat Pokémon, dealing some heavy damage.
"Okay, Poliwrath! Use Double Slap!" The Tasmanian devil ordered. Poliwrath gave Hitmonchan a couple of slaps.
"Use Mach Punch!" Sora ordered. Hitmonchan darts towards Poliwrath and lands a heavy punch onto the Tadpole Pokémon. "Use Thunder Punch again!" Hitmonchan lands another Thunder Punch and sends Poliwrath flying back to his Trainer.
"Golbat! Use Screech!" The hynea ordered. Golbat unleashed a screeching sound, and Jolteon tries to cover his ears.
"Jolteon! Use Thunderbolt!" Kairi ordered. Jolteon unleashed Thunderbolt and shocks Golbat greatly. "Use Double Kick!" Golbat goes down, beaten.
"We won't forget this, kids! You're gonna pay for this!" The hynea barked.
"You and that raccoon!" The Tasmanian devil added as they took off.
Sly managed to sneak on through the ship graveyard and knocked out several guards that were guarding the vault.
"I found the vault," Sly said.
"This one was cake. Input 7-1-9," Bentley said. Sly smiled and went back to check on the couple. He made it back just when the couple called their Pokémon back.
"How did it go?" Sly asked.
"We gave those guys a run for their money," Sora said.
"And they took off running," Kairi added.
"Great. Now we deal with Raleigh himself," Sly said.
With that said, they stepped out of the ship graveyard and head right over to the cannon. They all shoot themselves out of the cannon and go right up to Raleigh's hideout. The glass window shatters as Raleigh himself was sitting in his chair.
"How delightful. We have few guests. The only thing is... I HATE UNEXPECTED GUESTS!" Sir Raleigh exclaimed.
"Listen, Raleigh. Wipe out my family and steal what's mine, you'd better expect company," Sly said.
"You bet, froggy, and when we're done with you, your next company is going to be your cellmates in prison," Sora said.
"Oh, I'm ever so sorry. How sloppy of me not to finish the job. Obviously, we should have snuffed you out as well. So, without further ado, let me make amends by, what…? BLOATING TO GARGANTUAN SIZE AND SQUASHING YOU, LIKE THE INSIGNIFICANT BUGS THAT YOU ARE! AND AFTER THAT I'M GOING TO STUDY YOUR FELINE FRIENDS ON HOW TO OBTAIN THE KEY!" Sir Raleigh said.
"That's never gonna happen. These keys are very picky about the wielders," Kairi said.
"Bring it on!" Sly dared the frog.
"Let's dance, Kermit," Sora said.
Raleigh flicks his tongue and snatched a fly before bloating up and bounced on over to Sora, Kairi, Sly, Pikachu, and Angel. He uses his body as a weapon as he tried to hop on them, but they managed to dodge. Raleigh then summoned several Heartless to aide him. The Heartless are frogs that have bodies made of mucky water. They're brownish green in color and they have the same Heartless emblem on their bellies. They shall be known as Swamp Frogs. The Swamp Frogs attacked, but Sora and Kairi struck them down as Sly gave Raleigh a smack with the cane.
He wasn't finished yet. He snatched another fly in his tongue and bloats up again, and comes at them again. Sora ducks his head down as Raleigh uses his tongue as a weapon.
"You know what happens if a frog is struck by lightning?" Kairi asked. Raleigh just looked at her as Kairi raised her Keyblade up. "The same thing that happens to everything else." She casts her thunder spell and struck Raleigh hard. Sly then gave Raleigh a smack with his cane. He came out with a vengeance as he jumps out of the water and heads for Kairi, but Pikachu gave the frog a smack with an Iron Tail and gave him a shock with a Thunderbolt. He screamed from the shock. Angel then lands a Quick Attack onto the frog. Sora and Sly gave the evil croaker one more smack and he hits the water, beaten.
"Blast it all! You've beaten me! Well, gloat all you want, Sly Cooper and key brats . You're no match for Muggshot, my villainous cohort in Utah. You will see. Mesa City is so well-guarded, a snake couldn't slither in without setting off alarms. Uahahaha," Sir Raleigh said, losing consciousness.
"Don't worry, froggy, we always find our way in every situation; and he's going down as well," Sora said.
"Guys I found the pages of the Thievius Raccoonus mission complete. Now let's get out of here before Inspector Fox arrests us," Sly said.
"You heard the raccoon, Sora, let's go," Kairi said.
"Okay, just a moment," Sora said as he searched around "No keyhole around here let's leave."
They take their leave, just in time for Carmelita Fox and a squad of police officers arrived, and saw only Raleigh. She knew from Sly's calling card that Sly had something to do with it.
"Mission accomplished, lady and gentlemen," Sly said.
"Awesome you 3 were really amazing out there," Murray said.
"Superb. With the aid of you two this mission to find the Thievius Raccoonus will be less troublesome," Bentley said.
"Sora, Kairi, check this out," Sly said, showing some of the pages with some words and pictures of a Raccoon with a hood balancing on a bamboo stick. "Meet my ancestor Rioichi Cooper, my ancestor from Japan. He created the Ninja Spire Jump, a technique he developed while sneaking into the thickly fortified castles of Feudal Japan, oh, and he also is a chef and the owner of a restaurant. He was famous for inventing sushi."
"Wow, amazing. He was a chef and a thief," Kairi said.
"Yeah this guy would get along with certain Pokémon like: Froakie, Frogadier, Greninja, Ninjask, Shedinja, Shiftry, Treecko, Grovyle, Sceptile, and a few others. Right, Pikachu?" Sora asked.
"Pika, Pika," Pikachu nods in agreement."
Raleigh's section of the Thievius Raccoonus held detailed instructions on how to perform my ancestor Rioichi Cooper's Ninja Spire Jump, a technique he developed while sneaking into the thickly fortified castles of Feudal Japan. Finding a way off Raleigh's boat got a little tricky with the untimely arrival of Inspector Fox, who, failing to find me, busted Raleigh and his crew. With the storm machine out of commission, boats found their way back onto the ocean, and the mystery of the Welsh Triangle faded from memory. My gang and I loped around England for a while, enjoying the pleasant weather, and then headed back home, excited for our next heist.
