Elsewhere in the North Pole, Devon, Rudolph, and Slyly were still sleeping in their cave as morning arrived. Slyly was the first to awaken with Rudolph's stuffed teddy bear still in his right-arm. While the Keyblade Master and the red-nosed reindeer were asleep, the arctic fox got up and quietly tiptoed to Rudolph's pack to return the teddy bear. He lifts up the flap and puts the stuffed animal inside. Suddenly, the ground started to shake and the cave rumbled, causing Slyly to lose his balance a bit. Next, rocks began to fall from the ceiling and Slyly's eyes widened with shock. He rushes over to Devon and Rudolph and shakes their bodies with his hands.
"Hey, guys! Wake up!" Slyly exclaims
The two boys opened their eyes as they awakened from their sleep and they turned their heads towards the white fox as he pointed up at the cave ceiling with his left index finger.
"Avalanche!" Slyly exclaims
Devon, Rudolph, and Slyly quickly and make it out just as the snow from the peak of the small mountain came crashing down over the entrance to the cave. The trio stopped and turned back towards the cave, which was now blocked off by the snow.
"Whoa. That was a close call." Devon says
"But what could've caused an avalanche like that?" Rudolph says
Suddenly, the ground shook again, which made the Keyblade Master, the red-nosed reindeer, and arctic fox stumble around for balance. Then, three large creatures burst up from snow infront of the trio, rising several feet into the air. They were Heartless, Frost Serpents.
Frost Serpents were large icy dragon-like Heartless with white bodies primarily made up by their large tails, which were covered in icy spikes. Their tails ended in a cluster of spiky ice crystals, forming into a snowflake shape. Two flat, jagged wings extend outward from their bodies in an icy pattern, resemblingstained glasswith diamond shaped spikes at the tip of each segment of the wing. And their heads had two icy horns, a set of swirly yellow eyes, and the Heartless emblem on their forehead.
The trio stared up at the Heartless and the Frost Serpent in the center gave out a loud roar.
"Heartless!" Devon exclaims
The middle Frost Serpent opens its mouth with an ice blue light forming inside and it fires a freezing ray in a straight line toward the trio, creating icicles along the ground. Devon, Rudolph, and Slyly immediately split and jump out of the way of the blizzard beam, dodging the blue ray and icicles as they reach their former position. The young teen slides to a stop on the right and threw his right-hand out to the side, summoning his Keyblade: Soul Calibur into his grip, then looks over at his friends on his left.
"Rudolph, Slyly, keep back! I'll handle this!" Devon says
Rudolph and Slyly nodded their heads and ran to a safe distance while Devon charged forward at the Heartless.
Leaping up to the Heartless in the center, Devon raises his crystal Keyblade over his right-shoulder and strikes the ice dragon with a left-downward and uppercut slash, two wide left and right slashes, three left spinning slashes, a backflip slash, an somersault kick using the heel of his right-foot, a sideways kick to the right with his other foot, and a downward overhead strike. The Frost Serpent lunges its head at Devon and grabs him in its mouth, but the young teen holds Soul Calibur vertically between the huge jaws of the ice dragon, stopping them from closing down on him. The Heartless shook its head around with the crystal Keyblade lodged in its mouth, while the Keyblade Master held onto the hilt. Eventually, the young teen jumps out the Frost Serpent's mouth and raises his right-hand to call back his Keyblade. Soul Calibur disappears from ice dragon's mouth in a flash of light and reappears in Devon's hand. Once his weapon had returned to him, Devon points the Keyblade at the dragon-like Heartless and casts a Firaga spell, shooting a large fireball straight at his target. The blazing fireball strikes the Frost Serpent in the center of its body, creating a huge explosion on impact, which destroyed the Heartless.
The other two Frost Serpents spin around in the air, generating two snow cyclones that traveled along the ground straight towards Devon. The Keyblade Master runs over to the left and quickly dashes out of the way of the tornadoes. Next, one of the Frost Serpents dives into the snow, disappearing out of sight, while the other uses its blizzard breath, shooting an ice ray from left to right. Devon jumps back and dodges the ice beam as it moves across the ground infront of him. Suddenly, the ground underneath the Keyblade Master shook, which made him stumble around to maintain his balance and forces him to look down. An ice blue light shines beneath Devon's feet and it grew brighter and larger by the second. Knowing that it was danger, Devon immediately dashes away just in time as the spiked tail of the Frost Serpent juts out from the snow. The young teen looks back and watches as the tail sinks back underground. A few seconds later, the spiked tail emerges dangerously close infront of Devon, but he took a couple steps backwards and narrowly dodges the attack, which misses him by mere inches. He evades the spiked tail three more times, leaning his body away to the sides each time it juts out of the snow, then dashes away to the right, dodging the sixth and last attack. Eventually, the Frost Serpent bursts up from the snow back into the air and that's when the young teen made his move.
Devon hurls Soul Calibur at the ice dragon and the crystal Keyblade strikes it in the face. Upon impact, the Keyblade splits into six beams of light that fly off into the air, then homes in on the Heartless and hits multiple times on its head. Summoning Soul Calibur back to his hand, Devon rushes at the ice dragon and leaps up toward it with a somersault slash. He follows up with four right spinning slashes, a backflip slash, and five thrusting strikes, then finishes off the Heartless with a downward strike, stabbing into its head with Soul Calibur. Both Devon and the Frost Serpent descend onto the snow and the Heartless fades away with black smoke and purple sparkles of darkness, releasing its captive heart in the process.
Rudolph and Slyly watched with stunned expressions as the glowing pink heart floated up into the sky before it disappeared into thin air, returning to Kingdom Hearts.
"Gosh..." Rudolph says
The red-nosed reindeer and arctic fox shifted their gaze back at Devon as he stood against the last remaining Heartless.
The Frost Serpent made the first move by shooting an ice ray straight down at the Keyblade Master using its blizzard breath. Devon dodges the attack by jumping backwards a few feet, and he throws Soul Calibur as a counterattack. The crystal Keyblade spins through the air and smashes through the Frost Serpent's left wing, then loops back around like a boomerang and cuts through the other wing. With its wings destroyed, the ice dragon falls into the snow, but it reemerges with only its head and two four-clawed hands sticking out of the ground. The Frost Serpent charges at Devon, spinning its hands like drills, but the Keyblade Master leaps over the Heartless with a somersault, dodging the attack. The ice dragon comes back around, charging at Devon again, only this time he would face the Heartless head on. Standing his ground, Devon holds Soul Calibur horizontally to the left infront of him and the crystal Keyblade glows brightly with its dazzling blue light, generating a spherical barrier of hexagonal panels around the young teen, who braces himself as the Frost Serpent heads straight toward him. Within moments, the ice dragon smashes into the barrier, and the barrier disperses, sending hexagon panels flying in all directions and unleashing multiple splashes of light. The Heartless was knocked back by the barrier, stunned by the light. Devon seized his chance and went on the offensive. He strikes the Frost Serpent with an overhead slash, a spinning right uppercut slash, three cross slashes swinging his crystal Keyblade back and forth, and a spinning overhead slash that hits four times. Afterwards, Devon raises Soul Calibur above his head with both hands and charges up for one final strike. A bright, shimmering blue-white aura envelopes the crystal Keyblade, turning it into a giant sword of light with sparkles of pure energy. Once fully charged after four seconds, Devon swings Soul Calibur downwards and delivers a powerful overhead strike, smashing down on the Frost Serpent's head with tremendous force. The Heartless collapses from the devastating blow and fades away into oblivion, its captured heart floating upwards and disappearing into the sky.
With the three Frost Serpents vanquished, Devon stands up straight and dismisses Soul Calibur from his right-hand, which disappears in the same flash of light.
"Man... Talk about a rude awakening." Devon says
Rudolph and Slyly walk up to Devon and the Keyblade Master turns to face them.
"So, uh... I guess those were the Heartless you was talking about?" Slyly says
"Yeah. That was them." Devon says
The young teen glances back over his left-shoulder at the spot where the Heartless used to be.
"But I haven't seen those kinds of Heartless before. Those must be a new type." Devon says
Devon, Rudolph, and Slyly turned towards the cave, which was now completely blocked off by a huge ton of snow.
"Aw, nuts! The cave's sealed! We can't get back in!" Slyly says gesturing to the cave with his left-hand
"It could be worse, Slyly." Rudolph says
"Oh, really? How?" Slyly asks
"We could've been trapped inside the cave." Rudolph says
"With no food or water, dying from hypothermia and starvation." Devon says
"Eh... Good point, guys. C'mon. We'll find us an even better cave." Slyly says
And so, with the cave closed off from the avalanche, the Keyblade Master, red-nosed reindeer, and arctic fox set off into the frozen wilderness to search for a new home.
Later that evening, the sun was now starting to set on the North Pole as the hours passed. Boone and Doggle were out in driving around in their snowmobile, searching for Devon, Luna, Rudolph, and Zoey. Boone drove the vehicle, while Doggle looked around with a pair of binoculars.
"Rudolph! Devon!" Boone calls
"Zoey!" Doggle calls
"See anything?" Boone asks
Doggle scanned the enviornment with his binoculars over on his side, but saw nothing, save for the snowy hills, mountains, and plains.
"Just a lot of snow." Doggle says looking back at Boone over his left-shoulder
"We gotta find them, Doggle. We can't let Santa down." Boone says
Determined by their mission to Santa, Boone and Doggle ventured onwards, continuing their search for the Keyblade Master, his Night Fury dragoness, and the two missing reindeer.
Elsewhere in the North Pole, night had fallen as Devon, Rudolph, and Slyly walked together across the snow. Eventually, they come upon another cave on their right in the side of a cliff on a small mountain.
"Well, this looks like a cozy little spot." Slyly says
The trio enters the cave and took a look around. There were several pieces of furniture inside the cave. At the very back stood a round wooden table with a large, light blue cloth draped over it, and four wooden chairs surrounding it. Close to where the trio stood were a pair of red arm chairs facing each other on opposite sides of the cave, one on the left, the other on the right. A small round table stood alongside the chair on the left next to Rudolph, and a tall lamp stood behind the trio on their right, somehow illuminating the cave with its light. And underneath their feet was a large rectangular mat of vibrant colors, mostly pink, orange, blue and green. The outer edges of the mat was gray, the inner edges were white, and the innermost edges were a gradient between two colors: green and blue.
"See? I told you we'd find a better cave." Slyly says
"I don't know, Slyly. I get the feeling someone already lives here." Rudolph says
Suddenly, an angry growl breaks the silence of the cave, causing Devon, Rudolph, and Slyly to jump with a start.
"And I get the feeling he's here." Devon says with his eyes glancing at Rudolph on his left
The trio turns around and come face-to-face with an anthropomorphic polar bear, who was less than happy to have trespassers in his home, clenching his hands and grinding his teeth tightly in anger. Devon sweat-dropped upon seeing the tall white bear.
"Uh..." Devon says
Before Devon or Rudolph could say anything, Slyly leans over to the human and reindeer and spoke quietly. He had a plan for dealing with the polar bear.
"Psst! Just let me do the talking, kid." Slyly says leaning over to Devon and Rudolph with his right-hand secretly to his mouth
Devon and Rudolph stayed put, while Slyly made his move, taking a step forward towards the huge bear.
"Ahem! Pardon the intrusion, friend. We're from the Bureau of Cave Safety." Slyly says pulling out a handbill from his furry chest for a brief moment with his right-hand before stuffing it back inside
The polar bear's expression immediately changed from anger to confusion as he looked down at Slyly.
"Huh?" The polar bear says
"Now, I am sure that you are aware that recent shifts in the polar ice have made some caves unsafe for habitation." Slyly says
"Huh?" The polar bear says
"Now please step aside whilst we inspect the premises." Slyly says
Slyly leans over at Devon and Rudolph again, putting his hand alongside his mouth as he spoke to them in secret.
"Do as I do." Slyly whispers
The white fox walks over to one side of the cave and glances up at the ceiling, looking left and right as he 'inspects' the home. Devon and Rudolph followed his example and went over to another side of the cave. Soon, Slyly stops and whistles two times in a troubled manner.
"Uh-oh." Slyly says
The polar bear stared down at the arctic fox, then looks over at the red-nosed reindeer and the Keyblade Master on his left as Rudolph whistled once.
"Uh-oh." Rudolph says
Devon and Rudolph looks back at Slyly and he gives them the 'OK' sign with his right-hand and a wink of his left-eye. After finishing their 'inspection', Slyly walks back over to the polar bear.
"Oh boy! This cave could collapse at any minute! You better vacate immediately!" Slyly says
The polar bear's expression changed again, this time with fear as he gasped and shook fearfully.
A short time later, the polar bear was now wearing a brown traveler's hat and held a cyan-colored hobo's bag with yellow polka-dots over his left-shoulder by a wooden pole, being pushed out of the cave from behind by Slyly as he 'escorts' him out.
"No, no, no. No need to thank us. Just doing our job. Bye bye now! See ya! So long!" Slyly says pushing the bear and waving his right-hand
The polar bear continues walking out into the snow, while the arctic fox smirks with triumph.
"Sucker." Slyly mutters quietly
Returning to the cave, Slyly sits down on one of the red armchairs, laughing hysterically and placing his hands behind his head as he got comfortable.
"Oh, that was too easy." Slyly laughs
Devon stood next to the armchair with his arms crossed as he looked down at Slyly in disapproval. Rudolph stood next to the Keyblade Master on his left, not approving of Slyly's dirty trick either.
"That wasn't very nice, Slyly." Rudolph says
"Yeah. I agree. Lying and kicking the guy out of his own home. That's a real low brow." Devon says
"Eh, it's either him or us, guys. That is the law of survival." Slyly says
Suddenly, a familiar growl fills the air, which made Slyly shake in his bones. He turns to his right and whimpered in fear. The polar bear was back, even angrier than ever.
"Y-You tricked me!" The polar bear says pointing at Slyly with his left index finger
Slyly sunk low in the chair, gazing up fearfully at the bear that towered over him. With no other tricks up his furry sleeve, there was only one thing that Slyly knew to do in this situation.
"Retreat! Retreat!" Slyly exclaims in panic
The arctic fox immediately took off from the chair, running past the polar bear and out of the cave. With Slyly gone, the white bear turns his angry gaze towards Devon and Rudolph, who both held sheepish smiles on their faces. Mustering up their courage, the Keyblade Master and red-nosed reindeer introduce themselves.
"Uh... Hi there, Mr. Polar Bear. My name's Rudolph." Rudolph says
"And, uh, my name's Devon. Heh heh... Quite a gag, huh?" Devon chuckles
The polar bear places his hands at his waist and stares down at the two boys with a raised left-eyebrow and a look that demanded an explanation. Rudolph lowered his head and Devon rubbed the back of his neck with his right-hand, both of them feeling ashamed for their part in Slyly's deception.
"We're sorry we tricked you. It was wrong." Rudolph says
"Honestly, I don't even know why we went along with it." Devon says
"We were just cold and hungry with nowhere to go." Rudolph says
"Plus, we've been attacked by evil creatures called Heartless who destroyed our previous resting place. So we've kinda had some bad luck." Devon says
Upon hearing their plight, the polar bear's expression softened as he felt pity for the human and reindeer.
"Oh, well why didn't you say so in the first place?" The Polar Bear says
The bear took off his hat with his left-hand and bowed his head as he introduced himself.
"I-I... I'm Leonard."
Once the introductions were made and everything was settled, Devon, Rudolph, Slyly, and Leonard sat down around the table in the back of the cave and enjoyed themselves to a nice meal. A loaf of sliced bread on one plate, fish on another, a couple turkey and ham sandwiches, a bowl of fruit like oranges, apples, and grapes, a blueberry pie, and glass cups of juice made from the apples and oranges. Slyly had himself a ham sandwich, Devon had some fish, a turkey sandwich, and some bread on his plate, and Leonard only had fish for himself. Devon took off his winter jacket and his gloves and left them on a coat hangar, leaving him with his black shirt underneath as he sat down at the table.
"Bon appetit, boys." Leonard says gesturing his right-hand to the food
"Deeelicious." Slyly says smiling
Before digging into the food, Slyly leans over to Devon and Rudolph on his left, wondering how he worked it out with Leonard.
"So, uh, how'd you swing it, guys?" Slyly asks
"We just told him the truth." Rudolph says
A dumbfounded expression formed on Slyly's face. Being a fox, he never knew anything about honesty in his life.
"New one on me." Slyly says shrugging his shoulders
After finishing their meal, the quartet went to sleep. Leonard slept in his bed, snoring loudly with his body underneath a blue and purple polka-dot blanket. Slyly slept on one of the armchairs with Rudolph's teddy bear in his right-arm, sucking on his right-thumb as he had done before. And Devon and Rudolph both slept ontop a gigantic, navy blue pillow on the cave floor, resting their heads on smaller, light blue pillows. The young teen sleeped on his side with his arms crossed underneath his pillow.
While everyone else slept peacefully, Rudolph was grunting and groaning in his sleep as he suffered from a nightmare.
Everything was sepia tone in color and wavy in Rudolph's nightmare. The first part of the dream involved Rudolph during his day in Reindeer School, specifically the day when he was teased and ridiculed for his red nose as Young Arrow, and all the young bucks and does, except for Young Devon and Zoey, laughed at him.
"Ruddy the red-nosed reject ain't ever gonna be a Flyer! Ah ha ha ha ha!" Young Arrow says
"Hey, Rudy! Try the circus instead! Ah ha ha!" Schoolroom Doe #2 laughs
The second part of the nightmare involved Rudolph during the sleigh race years later in the Reindeer Games when Arrow mocked him.
"Zoey's only nice to you because she feels sorry for you!" Arrow says
Finally, the last part of the dream was Blitzen talking to the Elf Referee with Rudolph hiding by the exit of the track, listening to the final words of his father before he ran away.
"That nose of his... was an accident. ...was an accident." Blitzen says
Rudolph awoke from his nightmare with sweat beading down his head. He looked around and saw that everyone else was asleep. Rising up to his feet, the red-nosed reindeer decided to step outside for some fresh air. However, his movements woke Devon, who opened his eyes and lifted his head up. The Keyblade Master pushes himself upright and noticed the reindeer heading outside, watching him with a look of concern.
Rudolph walks out of the cave and stops near the edge of the cliff. He gazes up at the stars as they twinkled in the night sky, staring at them for a moment, before lowering his head with a sigh. Suddenly, the red-nosed reindeer heard the crunching sound of footsteps in the snow behind him. Turning around to his left, he saw Devon with his winter jacket on approaching him.
"Hey, Rudolph. You alright?" Devon asks
Rudolph didn't respond as he glanced off to the side.
"Nightmares?" Devon asks
Rudolph nods his head. Devon stared at his reindeer friend with a sympathetic expression as he knew what was troubling him. He could bet a million dollars on what Rudolph's nightmare was about. Walking over to him, Devon places his right-hand on Rudolph's back, offering him comfort.
"Don't worry. You're not the only one. I've certainly had my fair share." Devon says
"Devon... how'd you do it? All those years, being on your own." Rudolph asks looking at his human friend
The Keyblade Master stares at the red-nosed reindeer for a moment, then glances out at the surrounding hills and mountains.
"To be honest, Rudolph... I don't really know. After the invasion of the Celestial Realm, I had forgotten about everything. My parents, the Keyblade, everything. All I had back then was my aunt and uncle." Devon says
A smile forms on Devon's face as he thought about Luna, his beloved female Night Fury, and all his friends.
"But then I met Luna, Sora, Riku, Kairi, and all my other friends, and they've been with me every step of the way. Thanks to them, I managed to regain what I had lost." Devon says
Devon turns to his right and faces the red-nosed reindeer.
"Sometimes, Rudolph, you need to embrace what you have and keep going for the people we love." Devon says
Rudolph stares at Devon for a moment with a surprised expression, taking his words into heart. Eventually, a smile forms on his face and he nods his head. Devon nods his head back, then turns his head toward the sky as he noticed something.
"Hey, check it out." Devon says
The Keyblade Master and red-nosed reindeer look up and they saw colorful streaks of red, ice-blue, yellow, and purple, illuminating the night sky above them with their heavenly light.
"Gosh..." Rudolph says amazed
Devon and Rudolph stared at the glowing colors, admiring the beautiful light show. Then, the four fairies, Aurora, Sparkle, Glitter, and Twinkle fly down and hover infront of the young human and reindeer.
"Hello, Devon. Hello, Rudolph." Aurora greets
"You know our names!" Rudolph exclaims in surprise
"Have we met before?" Devon asks raising his right-eyebrow in a questioning manner
Aurora giggles.
"We're the Sprites of the Northern Lights, and we've been keeping an eye on both of you." Aurora says
"We are great admirers of your wonderful nose, Rudolph." Sparkle says
"Wonderful?" Rudolph says looking down at his red nose
"You see Rudolph, everyone has a light that shines within." Aurora says
"But only a lucky few can make their light shine bright enough for the whole world to see." Sparkle says placing both her hands over her chest before gesturing to the world around them
"Like Devon and his parents." Glitter says gesturing her right-hand to the young teen
"You knew my mother and father?" Devon asks taking two steps forward
"Oh, yes. We knew them." Twinkle says nodding her head
"You and your parents were so loved here at the North Pole. But when news came about what happened to the Celestial Realm and your family, everyone was heartbroken, even Santa." Glitter says
A pained expression formed on Devon's face when he heard this. The Keyblade Master placed his right-hand over his chest and lowered his head, feeling ashamed that his disappearance caused so much sadness for everyone at the North Pole.
"I'm sorry. It must've been hard for everyone having to live with that. I didn't mean to cause pain to anyone. If only I had remembered about this world sooner." Devon says
The Sprites flew down closer to Devon and Aurora places her hands on the cheeks of his face, which made him look back up.
"You needn't blame yourself, Devon. What happened to you and your family that night wasn't your fault." Aurora says
"That's right. It was Lord Thanatos and his evil monsters who are responsible for all the pain they caused." Glitter says
"Which, of course, brings us back to the reason why we are here." Aurora says
The fairies flew back a few feet as they moved onto the next part of their conversation.
"Now, boys, listen closely." Aurora says
"Your friends, Luna and Zoey, are in grave danger." Sparkle says
"What?!" Devon and Rudolph shockingly exclaim in unison
"They've been captured by Lord Thanatos, Stormella, and the Heartless. They're both trapped in the ice dungeon of Stormella's Ice Castle." Twinkle says
"And only the both of you can save them." Glitter says
The boys couldn't believe it. Luna and Zoey were both taken by Lord Thanatos and Stormella. Devon and Rudolph shared glances with each other, knowing that the lives of their girlfriends rested on their shoulders. They knew they had to save them. While Devon was more than ready to rescue Luna and Zoey, Rudolph was unsure about what he could do to help.
"Well... I know that Devon's a Keyblade Master. But... what can I do? I'm not a hero like he is. How can I help?" Rudolph asks
"Your light will save them, Rudolph. But first, you must learn how to use it. Now, close your eyes, Rudolph." Aurora says
Rudolph closes his eyes as instructed and listened to Aurora as she told him the next important step.
"Think about everyone you love, and everyone who loves you. Let this love be the light of your heart. Now, let it flow up as the brightest light." Aurora says
"Show us the light, Rudolph!" Sparkle, Glitter, and Twinkle say in unison
"Show us the light." Aurora says
Rudolph concentrated hard on tapping into his inner light, thinking of the people he loved and those who loved him. His parents, Mitzi and Blitzen, Santa, Shara and Ducar, Luna, Devon, and above all, Zoey. Rudolph's nose soon began to glow with the light fading on and off.
Devon and the Sprites all watched with anticipation.
"C'mon, Rudolph." Devon says
"You can do it!" Sparkle, Glitter, and Twinkle say in unison
Eventually, Rudolph's red nose sparks to life with the light flashing on and off until it was glowing completely and brightly. The reindeer opens his eyes and he smiled at his triumph.
"I did it... I did it! Oh, gosh!" Rudolph exclaims happily
"Alright, Rudolph! I knew you had it in you!" Devon cheers wrapping his right-arm around the reindeer's neck
Devon and Rudolph both laughed. But when they looked up to thank the Sprites for their help, the fairies were gone. The colorful lights were also gone, having faded away from the night sky.
"Wait! Come back!" Rudolph says
The Keyblade Master and red-nosed reindeer looked around for the Sprites, but they were nowhere to be seen.
"C'mon. We gotta tell the others." Devon says turning to Rudolph on his right
And so, Devon and Rudolph ran back inside the cave to inform Sly and Leonard of what they just learned.
The two heroes woke up Slyly first with Rudolph giving him a few nudges on his body with his right-hoof.
"Slyly." Rudolph says
The arctic fox awakens and looks back at the Keyblade Master and the red-nosed reindeer standing behind him. He then looked down at the stuffed teddy bear in his right-hand and his eyes widened with embarrassment.
"Oh, uh... Hiya, guys. I, uh... It ain't how it looks. I was sleepwalking and..." Slyly says scratching the back of his head and pointing to the stuffed animal with his other hand
"Nevermind that. We need your help." Devon says
Later that night, Devon and Rudolph traveled to Stormella's Ice Castle with Slyly and Leonard and stood before the ice bridge of Grand Chasm. The huge ice fortress stood out in the distance across from the heroes with dark clouds looming over it.
"Well, this is as far as I go, boys. Hey, I still say trying to save your girlfriends is a lost cause." Slyly says
"Uh, there-there's a secret way into Stormella's Ice Castle through the ice catacombs." Leonard says pointing out at the castle with his left index finger
"Yeah, but no one who ever goes into those catacombs ever comes out alive." Slyly says
"It's a risk we have to take. We can't leave the girls to be tortured by Lord Thanatos and Stormella. Luna and Zoey's lives depend on us." Devon says
"Devon's right. We have to do this. For Luna and Zoey." Rudolph says
"Oh. Then, I-I-I'm going with you." Leonard says placing his arms on his waist for a heroic pose
"I'm begging ya, Red, Devon. Don't do it. As soon as you cross that bridge, Stormella's wolves and the Heartless are gonna be all over youse!" Slyly says holding his hands with a desperate look on his face
"As long as I have my Keyblade, wolves and Heartless I can handle." Devon says glancing down at the white fox on his right, bringing his right-hand up and clenching it into a fist before pointing to himself with his thumb
"And the Sprites said to use my light." Rudolph says
Rudolph channels his light to his nose and activates it, causing it to glow and emit a bright beam of red light. Devon brings his right-hand to his chest for a moment, then stretches it forward, closing his eyes for a moment as he calls on the light within him. Eventually, the young teen's eyes snapped open and Soul Calibur appears in a brilliant flash of blue light in his grip, glowing with its pure benevolence.
"Alright. Let's go, boys." Devon says
Devon starts walking forward onto the bridge, taking the lead with Rudolph walking alongside him on his right, and Leonard on his left. Slyly stared at the Keyblade Master, reindeer, and polar bear with an expression full of doubt and disbelief as they ventured out across the ice bridge.
"Ahh, you're nuts. The three of yahs." Slyly says waving his right-hand
Slyly's expression soon softened and he let out a sigh.
"Good luck." Slyly says
Staying put on his side of the bridge, Slyly watched as Devon, Rudolph, and Leonard continued onwards toward Stormella's Ice Castle, embarking on their mission to save Luna and Zoey from their frozen prison. However, little did the heroes know that they were being watched. Over at Ice Castle, Lord Thanatos stood at the topmost, central spire of the fortress, observing the heroes from his high vantage point with his glowing red eyes as they made their approach. An sinister smile crept upon his face, hidden underneath the triangular mask that covered his nose and mouth. All was proceeding as planned. Soon, the dark entity teleports away into a dark corridor, moving onto the next phase of his evil agenda.
Emerging from the dark corridor, Lord Thanatos arrives at a shadowy domain of ice and darkness. The Dark Keyblade Master stood alone in the seemingly empty world. Only he wasn't alone. A slow, yet heavy panting filled the air, breaking the eerie silence. Infront of Lord Thanatos stood a huge, monstrous creature, hidden within the darkness, which uttered a deep, guttural growl. A pair of glowing red eyes shined brightly, offering a few brief glimpses of its form.
A deer-like skull with wicked-looking antlers, a large mouth of pointed teeth, a gaunt, skeletal, humanoid body of emaciation with desiccated skin pulled tightly over its bones, which pushed out against it, the hind legs of a goat, and shaggy, white, ash-gray fur, which covered most of the mutated body. Instead of hands, it had five-digit claws on long arms sharp enough to cut through flesh. White vapor blew out from its nostrils with each breath taken. And a glowing black-red heart rests inside the beast's skeletal chest cavity, pumping with a sickening rhythmic beat. This malevolent creature, which stood 12 feet taller than Lord Thanatos, reeked with the stench of death, decay, and corruption, and represented one of the greatest acts of evil: Cannibalism.
The dark villain gazed up at his monstrous creation as it gave out another menacing growl with saliva drooled from its mouth, and his red eyes narrowed. Soon, he would unleash this terrifying beast upon the world, and all shall fall victim to its ravenous hunger.
