Author's Note

So! It's finally going to be here, 14th April for "7 Kings Must Die".

I had more for the ending of "Shadowkin", but decided to end it there, because it seemed appropriate. I may have an addition to make following the film.

How will we cope without "The Last Kingdom"? Vikings just won't fill it.

There are a lot of books which cover various periods before the Alfredian era, and some after, and I have already mentioned before:

Here are just a few that I enjoyed, though none cover the period as BC covered it. (I do love that he takes obscure parts of history and makes them popular: he did this with Sharpe, because apparently before these books the Peninsular War in Spain was hardly even credited.

Obviously, there are any BC novels, the Sharpe series, the Starbuck series, The Fort - a standalone book which refutes the ride of Paul Revere (I wonder how this went down in the US?), the Henry V novels (Harlequin, etc).

Other authors I have read which cover the periods before and after:

Simon Scarrow, Edoardo Albert, Angus Donald (covers the 8th century in Continental Europe and the end of paganism/beginning of Christianity). There was a series of books with Hereward (post-Conqueror) by James Wilde.

ALSO! There is a big exhibition at Bamburgh Castle this spring - if anyone's up that way I hope you enjoy it.

Please review and let me know if there are any you know, and also, please review - authors run on reviews!
