Hi lovely readers,

Thank you so so much for all of the reviews on the last chapter and a huge thank you to those of you that continually review. It means so much!

This prompt was requested by a guest and I can't believe that I've never written a conversation between Sheldon and Penny like this before. I loved this one so much so thank you so much for requesting. I hope it was what you were after.

Enjoy reading lovelies!

Pregnancy was an utter miracle, Amy realised that now more than ever. The wonder of making a whole new human being was palpable and even though it was still early days she was in total of awe of how much her body was transforming to accommodate the little life inside of her. She had expected to experience many things, the exhaustion, the nausea, the aches and pains as her body grew, the changes in hormones and emotions but what she hadn't fully comprehended was the sheer unconditional love she would feel.

As soon as she saw the first positive test, the rush of love was instant, hitting her like a tidal wave. As her pregnancy progressed that love only continued to grow, it was intense and strong and had been so immediate it almost terrified her. She loved Sheldon more than anything but she had never felt like this and she was sure she would never feel a love like this again.

Gazing down at the small black and white image that greeted her, she really couldn't have been more in love. Would she ever grow bored or tired of staring at the little ultrasound image of their baby? She wondered whether all new parents to be felt like this, whether their whole world just stopped and the only thing that mattered was their baby.

"Ready?" Sheldon's voice snapped her from her thoughts as he exited their bedroom, smelling fresh and with a strong hint of baby power. Pregnancy had sent her senses wild and up until just last week she had banned him from using baby powder as it made her feel physically sick.

"Sorry" she closed the grey card containing the image of their little one. "I was miles away" she stood from the couch keeping a firm hold of the image.

"You can't stop looking at it, can you?" Sheldon asked with a smile, a smile that Amy loved and hoped their baby inherited.

"Nope" she laughed, shaking her head. "It's a real little person, our little baby." Today had been their twelve week scan and it felt like a day Amy had been waiting for since she had discovered the pregnancy. It was by most standards deemed to be the safe point within one's pregnancy and Amy had been on tender-hooks waiting for this moment to arrive.

Everything had been as magical as Amy had hoped. Their baby was growing perfectly with every organ, muscle, limb and bone in place, now it was just a case of growing and developing. Hearing the heartbeat made her cry and she couldn't quite believe that they were now staring at a baby, a real little person and not just the tiny smudge that greeted them when she was just five weeks pregnant.

"I know" he smiled again, this time the smile stretched to his eyes, making the corners wrinkle as his eyes gleamed with pride. He had been incredible during this first trimester, he had shown Amy a completely different side and after years of being together she thought she had seen every side of him but this was different. He wasn't just taking care of her now, everything he was doing was also for their baby and that thought alone made Amy's heart skip a beat.

Without hesitation, he sat by her side when she was throwing up, rubbing her back and fetching her glasses of water. When she fell asleep on the couch because she just couldn't keep her eyes open any longer, he would drape a blanket over her and make sure her alarm was set for work the next morning. Sometimes when she was on the verge of falling to sleep on the couch, he would insist on carrying her to the bedroom. Of course, he had also carried out research into the best foods Amy should be eating and had taken it upon himself to prepare dinner each night, he was actually showing himself to be quite the culinary master.

In that moment, Sheldon's phone buzzed and as he picked up and saw the message that appeared on the screen, he rolled his eyes and shoved the device back into his pocket.

"Who was that?" Amy asked. Normally, she wasn't so interested but his reaction to the message got the best of her and she just had to ask.

"My mother" he rolled his eyes, "she hasn't stopped texting me since we told her". With Amy and Sheldon beyond excited to share their news they FaceTimed both sets of parents in the car whilst still in the hospital parking lot.

"Oh leave her alone, she's just excited" Amy reached out and picked up the ultrasound image from the coffee table.

"You do know she's already scheduling in trips to come and see us within the first year of the baby's life. It wouldn't surprise me at all if she just invites herself along to the birth" Sheldon rambled. Of course, he understood his mothers excitement but there were plenty of occasions where she could be a little full on.

"Let's cross that bridge when we get there" Amy patted his arm as she walked past him towards the front door. "They definitely know we're coming?" she asked.

"Yes"

After the parents had been told the next important people on their list were Leonard and Penny. Amy wasn't sure how she had managed to keep such a thing from her friends for so long, especially Penny who was one of the most intuitive people she knew. They had arranged tonight as just a little get together, nothing too suspicious or out of the ordinary.

"You know" Amy stopped in her tracks before opening the door. "I kind of don't want to tell people, I just want it to be our secret for a little bit longer" she had really loved the last few weeks, just her and Sheldon in their own little bubble, knowing this huge life changing secret, stealing little glances and beautiful smile when anyone mentioned anything remotely linked to babies.

"I'm not entirely sure we can hide it for much longer" he nodded down to Amy's stomach where the tiniest of bumps was starting to form. All of a sudden, one morning there was just something there. Thankfully, she had been able to hide it with baggy jumpers and long, oversized cardigans.

"Hey" Amy exclaimed, as she pulled her jumper tight around her body, laughing in the process. There it was a tiny, little rounded bump that she affectionately placed her hand on top of. "I don't know what you're talking about" she laughed.

Sheldon couldn't help but smile too, looking at Amy right now, she was probably the happiest he had ever seen her. She was more than just his wife now, she was the mother of his child and already she was doing the most amazing job at taking care of their baby.

Amy had never been so itching to tell someone her news before. She had been excited about many things in the past that she had wanted to share with others however, this news topped them all. As she sat on the edge of Penny and Leonard's couch, with Sheldon next to her in his spot, she could feel her heart beating rapidly. She needed them both to just stop talking about their day so she could tell them all about hers, she wasn't sure how Sheldon had managed to remain so quiet.

"So" Penny spoke as she leaned over and poured Amy a glass of wine. Of course, she wasn't going to drink it but she could already feel Sheldon's eyes on her. "How was your day?" Penny sat back down in her chair and watched as Sheldon and Amy exchanged glances.

"Well, we actually have some news" Amy beamed. Penny took a sip from her wine, she knew exactly what the couple before her were like, they would probably now talk for hours about some theory they had discovered that would go straight over her head. Amy glanced at Sheldon again and smiled as he nodded for her to continue. "Here," Amy handed them the small grey card containing the ultrasound of their baby.

"You have to open it" Sheldon told them in his usual way. Leonard edged closer to Penny so that he could get a better look at what she was holding. Amy held her breath as Penny opened the card and saw the image for the very first time.

It took a moment for the news to sink in, it felt like minutes had gone by before audible gasps were heard coming from both of them. Penny looked up at Amy, her face etched with shock and happiness as her eyes turned glassy.

"Oh my god, Ames" she sounded emotional as she placed her hand on her heart, Amy was just beaming, so happy she could burst. "I'm so happy for you both, oh my gosh, congratulations" she stood from her chair and gave Amy the biggest hug as Leonard moved around them to congratulate and also hug his best buddy. Cuddles were shared amongst them all and on Amy and Penny's part, tears were shed. "Oh aren't they just the cutest little thing, look at their little nose" Penny exclaimed as she looked at the ultrasound.

"It's been so hard keeping it all from you" Amy revealed as she sat back down, there had been a handful of moments over the last few weeks where she just wanted to blurt it out or almost forgot they didn't know and she said something that rose suspicion.

"How far along are you?" Leonard asked.

"Twelve weeks and four days" Sheldon answered for her, keen to show off the fact he knew too just how far along his wife was. "We had this done today" he nodded in the direction of the ultrasound that was still clasped in Penny's hand.

"And everything is okay?" Penny asked, "you're both all good and doing well?"

"We're good" Amy smiled proudly, finally being able to relax a little and place her hand on the little bump that was growing and still hidden beneath her clothing. "Although, I've been so sick and I'm constantly tired" she couldn't quite believe how tired she was, she knew that growing a baby was exhausting but her energy was completely zapped from her on a daily basis and the sickness had been crazy, it was more than just morning sickness, it washed over her at any point of the day.

"Oh god, the tiredness is a killer isn't it?" Penny sympathised, Amy was thrilled she now had someone to discuss all of this with. "It gets easier though, I promise. It didn't hit me again until the last three or four weeks" Penny explained. "Oh god, Lucas is going to so excited to have a little friend to play with" Penny exclaimed.

It had been a thought that had also crossed Amy's mind. Once she had finally allowed the news to sink, it had dawned on her and made her incredibly emotional to know that her child and the child of her very best friend would be close enough in age to grow up together. It was the next generation of them all and Amy knew the years ahead would be filled with nothing but love and happiness as they watched their children grow.

"Where did Leonard go?" Sheldon asked as he walked back into Penny and Leonard's apartment to see Leonard's space empty and Penny busying herself in the kitchen.

"He went to pick up the food. Is Amy okay?" Penny asked. It wasn't quite what Amy was expecting tonight but after telling Penny and Leonard their news she had come over all tired and nauseous so had gone back over to their apartment to take a lie down.

"She's doing okay" Sheldon nodded, he had grown accustomed to this kind of behaviour over the last few weeks. "She's just needs to rest," he felt as if he had a dollar for the amount of times he had told Amy to rest over the last few weeks, then he would have been a very rich man.

"Look at this child" Penny laughed as she held up the baby monitor. Sheldon was greeted with a black and white, night mode image of Lucas sitting up in his crib "He does this every night. One of us will put him to bed, he'll go off like a dream and then a few hours later he just sits up like this, doesn't make a fuss, will sometimes play with his toys and then just goes back to sleep. You know Leonard and I were talking about buying him a bed, can you imagine that…" she was cut off from her ramblings when she clocked Sheldon's expression. If she was being honest, she had been far too busy talking about Lucas, she hadn't even noticed that he had pulled up a stool at the breakfast bar. "What's wrong?" she asked, placing the monitor down and turning her attention to Sheldon.

He let out a loud, audible sigh. The poor guy looked as if he had the weight of the world on his shoulder however, he still muttered an 'I'm fine' in reply. Unfortunately for Sheldon, he was one of the easiest people to read and Penny instantly knew something was going on and she wasn't going to let it lie.

"You can't lie to me Sheldon, you're forgetting who you're talking to" she laughed as she brought the wine glass up to her lips, had all the years of them living together taught him nothing.

"Do you ever stop worrying?" it took Penny a moment to realise he was asking the question as to opposed accusing her. "I'm constantly worried about Amy and the baby and I think my mind is just programmed to think that everything is going to go wrong"

"Oh sweetie" Penny reached across and took hold of his hands, cupping them both with her own. Sheldon flinched at how cold she was. "I wish I could tell you it gets easier but once that little one arrives, all you do is worry about them."

"I'm not sure thats very helpful" Sheldon thought it would be useful talking to someone that wasn't Amy. He was conscious off loading too much on to her, in his eyes she already had far too much to deal with.

Penny laughed and let go of his hands. "What I'm trying to say is everything you're feeling is totally normal. Its more than okay to worry that's what being a parent is all about," she started to explain.

Sheldon sighed heavily again. "I don't know the first thing about raising a child Penny, I don't even think I'm very good with children, what if I'm rubbish with my own." It was clear he had a lot on his mind, Penny could only assume all of this had been built up over the last twelve weeks.

"First of all, no one knows what they're doing when they have a child. Do you think Leonard and I knew the first thing about taking care of a baby but it's just something you do. It's almost like an instinct kicks in and you just know, it sounds cliche but it's true."

"What if it doesn't?" Penny wasn't surprised he was acting like this. There really wasn't a lot in life that Sheldon Cooper couldn't do, he excelled in every area and even those areas that he didn't he at least was able to have a logical thought process, parenthood, however was a complete puzzle to him.

"It will. And for the record, you're not going to be a rubbish father" she felt the need to reassure him on that note. "You're great with Lucas and the fact that we're here having this conversation is proof that you want to do the very best you can for your daughter" she smiled, not even noticing the words that had left her mouth until she saw Sheldon's wide eyed expression. "What?"

"You said daughter. We don't know that yet"

"Call it woman's intuition" Penny smiled.

If Sheldon Cooper knew in that very moment that in just under six months time, he would be holding a healthy, beautiful baby girl who he loved more than he could ever comprehend then maybe all of those worries would have melted away. Because with just one look at his baby daughter everything fell into place.
