Power Supreme

AN: Hello there, my dear readers! Well, this was supposed to have come out earlier, but my computer crashed and I lost half of what I wrote. But at least the chapter's out. I hope you enjoy.

Now to reviews.

Yoyon586: Glad you think so.

Guest: Hmm, perhaps

UselessKhan69: You'll have to wait and see. But I think you'll agree with what I end up doing

Supremes and Dynamos

A large figure grumbled as he sat on a huge that was decorated with skulls and large teeth, the room he was in was barely lit except for the flashing image screen in front of him. The man was very muscular, clothed in a grey bodysuit with the head and shoulders colored purple, red gauntlets, and boots, and on his face was an orange mask with spikes going down his face and pointing upwards. The man's completely green eyes and his teeth, all of them sharp showed that he was far from human.

He was known as Khrome II, son of Khrome the Conqueror, and the current leader of his father's Empire on the planet Khromium. Ever since his father's death, he wanted revenge against the man who killed him, one known as Supreme. However, when Khrome II went to Supreme's home planet of Earth, he couldn't find him, but plenty of other of those… superheroes.

Khrome remembered engaging one that wore Supreme's colors, a young man with similar powers. Supreme's son? Khrome honestly couldn't even bother to remember. And that proved to be such a disappointment. It was obvious the young man wasn't on Supreme's level of power despite putting up a good fight. If he was truly Supreme's son then he had a lot of catching up to do. And once Supreme was dead maybe he could be the next challenge for the overlord of Khromium.

But some years later, Khrome II found out that Supreme was traversing the cosmos. For what reason, Khrome wasn't sure, but he was eager to find him and avenge his father. However, fate had different plans as the Man of Might ended up in someone else's clutches. Khrome made sure to contact them soon after about it.

The screen in front of him stopped flashing as a figure appeared.

"So, it would seem that Supreme has escaped from your little prison," Khrome said. "How unfortunate. Our alliance cannot proceed if you cannot give Supreme to me."

"It was a minor error on our part," the figure on the screen spoke. "The drug dosage was slightly off and Supreme came to his senses long enough to allow him to escape. However, we could capture him again and deliver Supreme as promised."

"I told you, you should have given him to me immediately," Khrome berated. "Your delay cost you, Grand Regent. I hardly have any faith in you to be able to capture Supreme again."

The now-named Grand Regent growled lightly. "You should watch your tone, Lord Khrome. While our alliance with you would be beneficial, it is not a necessary one. I suggest you keep your arrogance in check or you will feel our might."

Khrome burst out laughing. "Is that a threat I hear? Hah! You think me afraid? I'm sure I'm strong enough to take you all by myself. And my Empire is more than a match for yours. I indulged you long enough, Grand Regent, but you failed to deliver. Unless you bring me Supreme, then you can forget about contacting me anymore."

A rumble came from the screen. "You make it seem like you keep a low opinion of us, but you still want us to capture Supreme. Your false bravado is unbecoming of you."

Khrome waved his hand dismissively. "Why waste time using my own forces when I can have someone else do my job for me? It's a simple business."

"Heh. Consider me unconvinced. Until later, Lord Khrome."

The transmission was cut, and the screen went black. Khrome chuckled to himself. Let that fool think he has things under control. He and his race were overrated in his opinion. They may seem fairly clever but in general, they're more brutish than anything.

Still, from Grand Regent's own behavior, Khrome could tell the man also wanted their alliance to succeed. They try to give the image of power, but they know it cannot be maintained forever. No doubt their end goal also ended in them betraying Khrome. And he honestly couldn't blame them, that was his intention as well.

The large alien leaned back and clasped his fingers together. He would make his move eventually. When all the pieces fall into place, he could take out two birds with one stone.

Khrome couldn't help but chuckle darkly at the thought.

Maddie Warner, a woman that was already starting to reach her senior years, with gray hair and some wrinkles on her face, walked across one of the streets in Tower City. It was today that she got a call from a friend of hers, telling her that he wanted to meet her and catch up. And considering who it was, who was she to refuse?

So when night came, she took some simple pants, a dark shirt, and some shoes. The caller didn't give her any specific address to meet. Thought knowing him, he didn't need it. He'd find her anywhere if she was in the open.

Glancing at the big skyline of Tower City, she couldn't help but think of the past, during the time Captain Dynamo was still alive. He called this city his home and protected it like the great man he was.

Maddie scoffed and shook her head. "God dammit, William."

"Hope I didn't arrive too late."

She smiled as she heard a voice from behind her. She met the man's gaze and saw this time he was dressed in his regular guy clothes which consisted of a brown coat, rounded glasses, and a hat.

"Sorry, I would have scheduled this earlier but I was busy averting some disasters, and I had to visit several children's hospitals this afternoon."

"No, it's fine. I know how busy superheroes can be. Glad to see you again, Ethan," Maddie greeted. "It's been… what? Ten years?"

"Yes, it has," Ethan said as he walked up next to her. "And I'm sorry about that. I know I never should have left. Maybe William wouldn't have died either."

Maddie chuckled. "Heh, right. I honestly doubt it would've changed anything. With the way he died, it probably would have happened eventually."

"What do you mean?" Ethan asked with a raised brow. "How did he die?"

"The poison that killed him, it was found on his lips. Meaning someone administered it through a kiss, most likely," Maddie explained. "Ugh, but enough about business. I haven't seen you in ten years and the least I want to talk about is bothersome things like that. Let's get ourselves ice cream. I'm really in the mood for some."

"Ice cream?" Ethan said. "At this hour?"

"Look, Ethan, you may not feel the difference between the South Pole and the Sahara, but these past couple of days haven't exactly been cold. If anything, you look weird wearing that coat."

Ethan adjusted his glasses. "Well, you gotta admit, making me seem weird does throw people off of thinking I might be Supreme."

Maddie shrugged. "I think showing a Supreme bot here and there would do the trick, but you do you."

"They're actually called Suprematons."

"Yeah, yeah, whatever. Now come on, let's get that ice cream."

After a few minutes, they found an ice cream stand where Maddie got chocolate and strawberry while Ethan had two vanilla scoops.

"You really have boring tastes, you know that?" Maddie commented with a smirk.

"I like what I like, and that's that," Ethan said as he took a lick of his ice cream.

Maddie chuckled. "Sure, sure. Though, I'm surprised. You haven't commented on my looks yet."

"And what's there to comment on?"

Rolling her eyes in fake annoyance she spoke. "Oh, stop playing dumb. The last time we saw each other, I still had color in my hair. And you… Well, you look exactly the same as you ever did."

"Trust me, Maddie, age hasn't affected your natural charm at all."

"Well aren't you a flatterer? Pretty sure even you can tell I'm pretty much an old hag."

"Maddie, come on."

"All right, all right, I'll stop," Maddie said before licking her ice cream. "So, what exactly have you been doing all these times?"

"Oh? Well, the thing about that is… I'm not exactly sure."

So he proceeded to explain the whole deal to her. How he had gone, waking up apparently a decade later with only a fraction of the memory of what happened. The details of how he returned and fought Omni-Man and all were already known to her. Hell, the world knew about all that.

They finished their ice cream during the talk and found themselves walking through one of Tower City's parks.

"So, you have no idea what happened to you?" Maddie asked.

Ethan shook his head. "No. Not yet at least. I think it's slowly starting to come back to me. But whatever drugs they used on me, they were using it for a long while. It might take some time for my brain to heal all the missing neurons."

"Jesus, you think I wouldn't be impressed by what you superguys can do, but here we are."

"Well, speaking of 'superguys', tell me, what about the Dynamo 5."

Maddie sighed. "Yeah, I was wondering when you'd bring them up."

"I'm sorry. I know you said you didn't want to talk business, but-"

"I know, I don't blame you. And well, it would seem that William's… activities had yielded some interesting results."

Ethan frowned when he remembered the now-deceased Captain Dynamo, otherwise known as William Warner, Maddie's husband. To most people, he was very much like Supreme himself, though with a bit more attitude. He was a beloved hero, a paragon people would look up to.

But behind the scenes… the man wasn't as flawless as he presented himself. To say the man was promiscuous would be an understatement. The number of women he's been with numbered in the dozens. Many of which happened even during his marriage to Maddie.

Supreme actually remembered the time he confronted the man about this.

Captain Dynamo flew over the buildings of Tower City. He gazed down to see people waving at him with smiles on their faces, and cheering his name. William smiled and waved back as passed over them before resuming looking out for any threat to the city.

However, as he was flying, he noticed someone in front of him. About half a mile away floated Supreme, his arms crossed and his face looking none too pleased. Captain Dynamo raised an eyebrow before flying over to greet the hero.

"Ah, Supreme," the Captain spoke. "What brings you to Tower City? Is there a threat you need my help to handle?"

"William, we need to talk," Supreme said, the frown never leaving his face.

Dynamo raised an eyebrow. "About what exactly?"

Supreme only pointed up with his index finger before flying in that direction. Getting the message, Captain Dynamo followed him, with the two caped heroes meeting above the clouds.

"Okay, what's this about?" Dynamo demanded. "I have more important things to do."

"Yes, I'm sure you have," Supreme said. "Listen, I won't beat around the bush. I know that you've been seeing other women besides Maddie."

Dynamo tried not to show that statement shocked him, but even if on the outside he looked unchanged, Supreme scanned him with his Sight Supreme, and the slightest shifts in his posture and the minuscule increase in blood pressure betrayed him.

And that was a fact William knew quite well.

"So I see," Dynamo said flatly. "And what do you plan to do about it?"

"God, William, what on Earth's the matter with you?" Supreme asked. "Why would you do something like this? You're supposed to be a hero!"

"Well, I am, aren't I?" William said. "I still go around and save people. That hasn't changed."

"So that makes sleeping around and cheating on your wife permissible?"

"Oh, will you please stop judging me?! Not everyone's a perfect boy scout like you are!"

Supreme's fists clenched. "And you don't have to be a perfect person to see that what you're doing is wrong. I'm telling you, you better stop what you're doing otherwise there'll be consequences."

Dynamo tilted his head. "Oh? And like what exactly? Will you expose me to the world? Beat me to a pulp so I could learn my lesson?"

"Listen, I just want you to-"

"No, you listen!" Dynamo interrupted. "I'm still doing my part! I still serve as the protector of this world, and as a hero people look up to! What I do in my private life is my business. Nobody else's! If you want to ruin everything I worked for, and cause chaos by revealing what I do, then that's up to you. Regardless of what you think of me, I'm still a valiant protector of the world, and you can't deny it." Dynamo turned his back to his fellow hero. "And now if you excuse me, my city needs my protection. See ya."

And with a red and blue blur, Captain Dynamo was gone, leaving Supreme to his thoughts.

After that day, Supreme never told anyone about Captain Dynamo. Not because he agreed with him, or anything like that, but the thought of possible repercussions of doing such a thing. Though in the end, it would seem that William's habits finally caught up to him.

And these five that Maddie worked with, he had a good idea what their deal was.

"So, are the Dynamo 5 William's children?" Ethan asked.

"Indeed they are," Maddie answered before pulling out a small pencil-shaped device out of her pocket. She pressed a button on the side, and the device produced a holographic screen with five images of the Dynamo five.

"This one here," Maddie said as she pointed at a pale girl with long black hair, dressed in a red and blue leotard with the number 5 on the stomach area, long blue gloves, and knee-high boots, as well as a domino mask. "Her name is Bridget Flynn. Codename: Scrap. She inherited her father's super strength."

She then showed a large and very muscular young man with blond hair, wearing a hooded red and blue costume with no sleeves, a domino mask, and gloves. "That's Cage Reinhart. Codename: Scatterbrain. He's the one with William's telepathy."

The next one was dressed in a similar style, just without the hood. He had dark skin, and surprisingly no facial features. "Spencer Bridges. Codename: Myriad. As you probably guess, he got the shape-shifting ability."

Maddie then pointed to an African-American girl with black hair who was dressed in a one-piece red and blue suit, with some blue cloth along her arms and connected to her sides to form wings, as well as a domino mask. "Livvie Lewis. Codename: Slinghtshot. Flight power."

"And last but not least," Maddie said as she pointed to a young man wearing a similar costume to Scatterbrain and Myriad, just with a helmet that had a yellow visor showing his face. "Hector Chang. Codename: Visionary. He's the one stuck with laser eyes."

"Hmm. Seems like an interesting bunch."

Maddie chuckled. "Oh, you have no idea."

"Still though," Ethan said while rubbing his chin. "They seemed to have inherited their father's individual powers. Quite strange. Usually, children of superheroes inherit their full set of powers, even if those powers don't end up quite as potent as the parent's."

"Ethan, I'm no expert at such things. I just gathered those brats and made sure they use their powers properly. I don't go into such details too much."

"Honestly, that's very admirable of you. I can see you really care for those five. Regardless of the… circumstance of their birth."

"Oh please, do you think me that petty?" Maddie said with a smirk. "I may not like what William was doing, but I'm not gonna hold it against the kids. That'd just be silly."

"And when do you plan on having the Dynamo 5 go public?" Ethan asked. "I know you're doing this in a more private way, but shouldn't they be officially recognized as heroes?"

"That's for me to decide. Their skills still need some polishing before they can do anything like that. Until then, they'll be under my watch."

"I'll trust you'll make the right call," Ethan said with a hand on her shoulder. "And I'm happy that you actually felt comfortable in sharing this information with me."

"Ethan, you're the most decent guy on the planet. And you're a really good friend. I have no reason not to trust you," Maddie said. "By the way, is Cecil by any chance aware of them?"

"Yes, he is."

"Ah, why am I not surprised?"

The two laughed for a moment before Ethan looked to the side. "Look, I have to go. Something came up. Do you need me to drop you off?"

Maddie waved her hand. "No need for that. I can walk. You go and take care of what you need to. Just make sure we hang out again sometime. I may actually bring you over to a drink instead of ice cream."

"I'll keep that in mind," Ethan said with a smile. "See you."

And with a blurring motion, Ethan disappeared, and Maddie turned around and began walking back to her apartment. That man... He really knew how to make people feel good about themselves. It's those moments that made her wish she got together with him, instead of William.

Invincible flew towards his house in the middle of the night. Today was quite a busy day. He had to stop over a dozen robberies, had to fight a giant squid that threatened to sink a cruise ship, stop an erupting volcano with some help from Uncle Ethan, and he helped The Capes fight against a Kaiju.

All in all, he needed some rest for today.

Mark checked the surroundings of his neighborhood to see if anyone could spot him flying into his house. He didn't want that annoyance on his head.

Seeing the coast was clear, Mark flew over to his window but halted when someone spoke. "I'll be watching you."

Quickly turning around, Mark saw that Immortal was floating several feet away from him, an obvious glare on his face.

"Oh, hello, mister Immortal… I mean… sir?" Invincible stammered. "So… What can I help you with?"

"Cecil said you're one of the good guys," Immortal continued. "But I have my suspicions. In my experience, the apple doesn't fall too far from the tree. Even if they tell themselves otherwise at first."

Invincible blinked. "Whoa, whoa, hold on! Are you saying that I'm going to turn out like my dad?"

"What I'm saying is that I'll be keeping a close eye on you. I won't let you fulfill his mission. If I see one sign of you changing, I'm taking you out. Simple as that."

"What?!" Mark exclaimed, his teeth gritted in frustration. "I fought him! I tried to stop him! I stood up against him for this world. And he beat me to a pulp because of it! I'm sure you saw the footage, they played it multiple times. And you still doubt me?"

"Yes, I know all that. And yes, I still doubt you," Immortal answered. "If you think that I'm-"

"Stop it!"

The two flinched before looking upwards to where the new voice came from. Supreme flew down from above and put himself between Invincible and Immortal, and made sure to let his old ally know he wasn't pleased by this situation.

"What exactly are you trying to do?" Supreme asked with a frown. "Don't you think the kid went through enough already? He doesn't need your accusations as well."

"But, Supreme, he's-"

"Don't you dare finish that sentence!" Supreme interrupted. "You should know better than to judge people like that. You're supposed to be a superhero, for God's sake! It's not our business to assume the worst in everyone. So please, leave. I'm sure other things need your attention."

"But I'm just-"

"Abe, go. Now."

The Immortal stood there in silence under Supreme's unwavering gaze. He glanced back at Invincible before scoffing and flying away.

Mark sighed before sitting down on the house roof. "Well, that sucked."

Supreme's gaze softened before he sat next to Invincible. "Don't hold it against him too much. He's grieving and he's angry. Hardly a combination for too much reasonable thought."

"Can't blame him too much, honestly. I mean, what my dad did… I just…"

"Mark, don't think like that. Your actions spoke for themselves. And I trust you fully."

A smile crept up Mark's face. "Thanks, Uncle Ethan. I… needed to hear that."

Supreme patted the young man's shoulder. "Anytime, Mark. Any time."

"Say, how about you visit us tomorrow?" Mark asked. "I want you to meet some of my friends. And my girlfriend as well."

"Really? You want to introduce me to your friends?"

"I mean, why not? You're a cool guy."

"I draw comic books. I'm not sure that's all that cool anymore."

"And you're a superhero."

"Um, Mark, we have secret identities for a reason."

"But that's the thing," Mark said with more excitement in his voice. "All of them know I'm Invincible. Trust me, they're really cool."

"You told them your secret identity?"

Mark scratched the back of his head. "Well, they actually found out. I didn't really tell them. But I trust them. And I'm sure it won't be a problem if you reveal who you are as well."

"You really think so?"

"Yeah, I do."

"Very well then, I'll make sure to visit," Ethan said before rising up and floating. "See you tomorrow."

"See ya, too, Uncle Ethan," Mark said with a smile. Though he was surprised that Ethan didn't really mention anything about Mark having a girlfriend.

"Also, can't wait to see the lucky girl that captured your heart," Supreme said before flying off at great speeds.

And there it was. Mark chuckled before entering his house through the window. Things may not be the brightest right now, but at least he knew there were people who had his back.

AN: And that is it for now, my dear readers! This chapter wasn't really action-oriented, like at all, but I hope you liked the character interactions. As well as me introducing the Dynamo 5 in this story. What can I say? I like their comics.

Also, I hope you check out my other stories. Trust me, they're worth it. And leave a review. They are great motivators.

See ya next time!
