Peter had gone out as Spider-Man that night but had to deal with cars and helicopters of the police's Anti-Vigilante Task Force chasing after him; "Spider-Man; on behalf of the NYPD's Anti-Vigilante Task Force you are to stand down or we will use force!" warned an officer using a megaphone who was in one of the helicopters as Peter ran to hide from them.

"Definitely didn't miss this... Still I managed to do okay with less experience last year in avoiding them and so I should be fine... Spoke too soon!" Peter said to himself swinging through the air and had to start dodging fire from police snipers on the roof top. He ended up being caught by Liz as Firestar who held him in her arms as she started flying at top speed until the Task Force lost them with Peter screaming.

Peter then took a moment to take his breath and asked her "thanks for the save there Firestar... Wait; this isn't you deciding to take your partner in yourself? I never threatened Jameson... Okay I have no love lost towards him but I never made any demands to him..."

"I know that it couldn't be you and I want to help you clear your name; any ideas?" Liz interrupted him and Peter felt relieved that his superhero partner was on his side in this.

"To the subway... Just trust me on this!" Peter told her and Liz batted an eye but nonetheless flew to the subway station entrance that Peter had went to with him giving him directions. "You know Mr Peter Parker who was attacked by Venom and had the villain kidnap his Aunt? Well he found me again and told me that his suspects that his work experience supervisor here is the one who framed him and so we should be able to find clues." Peter said as Liz widened her eyes but followed Peter as the people in the subway took pictures while staying near them.

"First you know eventually we are going to get traced back to here since we are not trying to hide that we are here, second a subway worker is framing you and thirdly I find it funny that this high school student was able to find you again so easily." Liz told him with her arms folded and Peter was sheepish at the last point but the first one was good so ran with Liz while taking her wrist.

"Wait..." Peter said spotting some familiar looking kids in an out of use subway cart; he then slid through with Liz as they noticed the kids were exploring the area and jumped as the kids noticed them. Peter saw that they were Miles and Phin.

"Spider-Man? Firestar... Please don't say anything but we came here because... Long story short... I'm Miles and this is Phin and... We think that my Uncle Aaron is framing you Spider-Man..." Miles whispered as Peter wondered how to go about this conversation without revealing too much.

"We found a frequency on my invention here and I modified it so it could locate where it's coming from and it led to us here..." Phin said and Peter felt like he should scold them for this but couldn't help but be impressed.

"And I don't suppose your parents know that you are doing this?" Liz asked and the looks on their faces said it all.

"Wait... I think that I found a signal!" Phin spoke near the floor of the cart and they saw that there was a locked door and Peter then used his strength to get it open. They looked inside and saw a lair that was coloured dark purple and green with Peter jumping through and Liz floated down after taking hold of Miles and Phin.

"So we have found a secret hideout; if you don't want a Scooby Doo reference then please tell me if any here have ever read Nancy Drew or the Hardy Boys and I assure you that I am not talking about anything wrestling related. Or how about the Famous Five if you are big into British mystery stories..." Peter spoke and paused along with the others when they saw that the suits and gadgets looked familiar. He thought that Aaron would be just trying to be a Spider-Man imposter but the guy was the Prowler that he had fought before?

Subway worker and mercenary/cat burglar; what a double life...

"My uncle is the Prowler? Is this why my parents didn't want me around him anymore; they found out..." Miles asked stunned and afraid with Phin holding close to him; Peter felt sorry for what the poor kid must be dealing with.

"Not easy knowing that your family who you thought you knew was in league with the wrong crowd Miles..." Phin told Miles softly and Miles smiled back at her; something to relate to between friends. The nephew of the Prowler and the granddaughter of the Gentleman's tinkerer. Then they heard an alarm sound and were afraid with Miles quickly snapping pictures to message to his father while texting apologies and directions. Peter helped them all out to see about escaping.

Aaron smirked to himself as he was in the Spider-Man suit that his boss/friend Fisk's men had put together and was able to use his skills to replicate Spider-Man's moves and use his grappling cables to replicate his web slinging. Should be enough to convince enough people and enough robberies to stir up Anti Spider-Man hysteria again and tarnish his reputation.

He had gone into a jewellery store and robbed the place and made sure to assault everyone in the store; Aaron thought that this was smooth sailing as he made sur eto be seen by the Anti-Vigilante Task Force and would take the chance to change out when he was able to. However he was alarmed when he heard the alert in his ear pieces go off saying that his subway lair was discovered and broken into.

Alarmed he went to the direction of the subway but his grappling cable was cut into by a flying figure and he just about caught himself when he hit the floor; he looked up and saw Norman in his stolen armoured suit but with a dark purple cloak with the hood up (for extra theatrical value for this brand) and riding on top of the glider.

"Great another masked punk..." Aaron muttered running off but Norman tossed down dark orange hand grenades shaped like pumpkins and Aaron could barely dodge. Norman hovered down and managed to get close enough to start punching Aaron hard and his attacks to fight back were easily dodged.

Norman could move and attack like Spider-Man but able to go all out and not hold anything back. "I wanted to fight Spider-Man but you are just a phony; rather insulting waste of time... To think that this is my debut..." Norman muttered as he flew away and Aaron managed to get to the subway and Norman used his mask's scanning to follow Aaron and spotted Spider-Man and Firestar coming up the stairs and tossed down his bombs.

Peter used his Spider-Sense to get everyone back and pushed his way through and ended up dodging the bombs of Norman. "Yes; that is the true Spider-Man!" Norman grinned as Peter noticed him.

"Great; who are you supposed to be? The Green Goblin?" Peter remarked with a sigh as he then noticed Aaron in his suit.

"You know what? I like the name; Green Goblin it is! Wanted to give you an appetizer but until next time Spider-Man!" Norman yelled out as he flew away with Peter telling himself that he had to focus on getting the people out before the destroyed entrance collapses.

Peter was pulling apart the debris and Liz managed to fly right through; "Prowler! We need your help!" Peter shouted to Aaron who turned to them.

"So you know who I am? Figures you found my hideout... Whatever; I can always build another one... I have friends in high places... Besides; I don't have to help you do anything! Heroes become martyrs; professionals stay alive!" Aaron scoffed ready to make his escape and Peter webbed his hand to a nearby post.

"You are really going to be selfish Aaron? What would your nephew think?" Liz asked and this really set Aaron off as he looked at him.

"Don't you dare bring my family into this! I have done my best to keep them as safe and away from my line of work as possible! I had a rough time growing up in a neighbourhood where we didn't have you fancy superheroes to save us! You could ever be those on the bottom or ally with those in power; I was good at finding those in power and it led to me entering the service of the future Kingpin himself! I was rewarded but I stood by my family even as they tried to turn their backs on me; my brother became a Cop but I was able to steer him away from my boss's operations so he wouldn't fall victim! Besides; how would you know what my nephew would think?" snaps Aaron at them and Peter quickly ran to pull him free from the web and then to the rubble as Aaron struggled.

Peter then punched right through the rubble so they could get a good look at the people still trapped down there; "Let's ask him..." Peter softly but firmly told Aaron who noticed Miles and Phin down there.

"What... No... No... No... No..." Aaron muttered in denial as he unmasked and helped the 3 heroes in breaking apart the rubble and get everyone through in safety.

"Is this why Mum and Dad didn't want me seeing you anymore Uncle Aaron? Did they find out?" asked Miles looking hurt as Aaron embraced them.

"No; your dad found out I was seeing some old friends of mine who were still criminals but he didn't know about all this... I had these skills and a boss who valued them and me! I didn't want to end up as just an engineer who had some suit take credit for my ideas; I wanted to be by the right hand of the most powerful man in New York... I never wanted you all to be endangered..." Aaron replied looking like he was pleading with them to believe them but saw that his nephew couldn't even look at him in the face.

Then came the rescue service and police with the officers focusing on Aaron who let go of the two kids. Aaron allowed himself to be handcuffed and had a phone shoved in his face showing the photos that Miles had sent to his father. "Time to go Aaron." Jefferson furiously told Aaron who couldn't look at his brother in the face as he was led to the police car. "Count on the Task Force being told to get off your backs now Spider-Man. Nice work and you too Firestar even if we now have a Green Goblin loose somewhere in the city!" Jefferson told Peter and Liz who grinned at this job well done if a bit bittersweet.

"Just on a scale of 1 to 10; just how grounded are we Mr Davis?" Phin asked as Miles looked like he wasn't looking forward for this as Jefferson warmly embraced them both.

"I can't speak for whatever punishment your parents are going to give but as for Miles... On a scale of 1 to 10 I say... 50! Still for the moment; I am just glad that you are both okay!" Jefferson replied and Miles accepted that. Then the four looked and saw that Peter had swinged away and Liz had flown away.

Fisk was furiously ranting and smashing his office about when he got the news that Aaron got caught and arrested with his lair being closed off as a crime scene. "Prowler; since before I even became the Kingpin, he has been my best man! Even as he took on other clients; there was no question where his ultimate loyalties lie! Spider-Man and this Goblin are going to pay and that Firestar as well!" Fisk thundered with Donovan scared to go near his boss and hope that this new loss doesn't start to make Fisk act irrational in his decisions.

Spider-Man was now cleared off the assault and demands of the Mayor as well as the robberies committed by Aaron (Jameson offered no comment but everyone could tell that he wasn't happy at all about this) and Aaron Davis identified as the infamous masked criminal known as the Prowler was arrested and now because of the damage done to the subway and the fact that his work experience supervisor had been arrested; Peter was given the last available work experience job of working at Burger Frog.

"You know that my last supervisor was the Prowler..." Peter was telling the employees at the counter as he was helping to mop with them silently telling him to get on with it. Peter then noticed Jefferson come into the restaurant and come up to him. "Can I help you?" Peter asked seeing the officer in casual clothing.

"I heard that your last supervisor from yesterday was my brother and my boy Miles told me all about his day yesterday when I asked for details. Turns out that last year you got to meet us in a less than stellar circumstances." Jefferson told Peter and he grew nervous.

"Sorry about your brother and your son being endangered with his friend..." Peter said with a sigh and Jefferson looked down.

"Well now I am on paid leave until any heat from this reveal dies down so I have time dwell on everything with Aaron. Anyway Miles told me about you and I wanted to come and see you myself. The kid who got himself attacked by Venom." Jefferson spoke and Peter looked sheepish. "Anyway; I have some bonding time with my son to plan so I will be seeing you another time. I think that I need to keep an eye on your Mr Parker." Jefferson said as Peter waved to him goodbye.

"Have to be careful; can't be giving away too many clues to people to allow them to find out who I am..." Peter thought as he went back to mopping the floor.

Once again I can't help but think about how I took a line from a Sonic the Hedgehog spin off comic and practically made it the catchphrase of the Prowler in this story. Plus some influence from the Spider-Man TAS version of the Prowler who was obsessed with gaining power but this one just wants to be in with people who have power. Plus the Earth-616 Miles Morales (going by Ultimatum) who was the best friend of Kingpin and knew him before he was Kingpin even if I wouldn't call Aaron around Fisk's age in the story.
