Chapter 14
The Doctor walked down over the embankment finding Rose sitting there. "There you are. You alright? No applause. I fixed it. Twenty-four hours, then we're flying back to reality. What is it?"
"My phone connected. There's this Cybus Network. It finds your phone. It gave me Internet access." Rose said softly, looking up at him.
"Rose, whatever it says, this is the wrong world."
"I don't exist."
"What do you mean?" The Doctor questioned his brow raising slightly.
"There's no Rose Tyler. I was never born. There's Pete, my dad, and Jackie. He still married mum but they never had kids."
"Give me that phone." He said, holding out his hand.
"They're rich. They've got a house and cars, and everything they want. But they haven't got me. I've got to see him." Rose said softly as she handed her phone to him.
"You can't." The Doctor said, shaking his head lightly.
"I just want to see him."
Gwendalyn crossed her arms looking at the two of them arguing as she stood next to Mickey.
"I can't let you."
"You just said twenty-four hours!"
"You can't become their daughter, that's not the way it works. Mickey, tell her."
"Twenty-four hours, yeah?" Mickey questioned looking over at the Doctor.
"Where're you going?" The Doctor questioned looking over at Mickey.
"Well, I can do what I want," Mickey said with a shrug of his shoulders. He wasn't about to have the Doctor stop him.
"I've got the address and everything," Rose said, waving her hand and taking her phone from the Doctor.
"Stay where you are, both of you. Rose, come back here! Mickey, come back here right now!"
"I just want to see him," Rose said, shaking her head.
"Yeah, I've got things to see and all," Mickey said, walking away.
"Like what?"
"Well, you don't know anything about me, do you? It's always about Rose. I'm just a spare part."
"I'm sorry. I've got to go." Rose said, walking away.
"Go on, then. There's no choice, is there? You can only chase after one of us. It's never going to be me, is it?"
The Doctor let out a breath. "Back here, twenty-four hours!" He said running off after Rose.
Gwendalyn let out a breath shaking her head lightly.
"Yeah. If I haven't found something better."
"Well, you're not getting rid of me that easily," Gwendalyn said, looking over at Mickey.
"You're not going to follow the Doctor?"
Gwendalyn let out a scoff shaking her head lightly. "No, I'm not."
Mickey looked over at her with a worried gaze noticing that her ring was still gone. "He still hasn't talked to you yet."
Gwendalyn let out a breath and wrapped her arms around herself. "No, he hasn't. Makes me wonder if he would ever marry and settle down. But I suppose I got my answer from him."
"I think he loves you," Mickey said as he stuck his hands in his pockets walking.
Gwendalyn let out a soft laugh and shook her head as she walked with him. "I doubt it. He wouldn't have allowed Reinette to kiss him if he loved me. Or at least he would talk to me and tell me that it wasn't right for him to allow her to kiss him. Just something to let me know that he cares instead of swanning off with Rose trying to protect her."
Mickey let out a breath and nodded his head. He walked past a vacant lot with her and up to an army roadblock. "Are we alright to get past?"
"Yeah. No, bother. Curfew doesn't start till ten." The soldier said with a wave of his hand.
"There's a curfew?" Mickey questioned his brow raising slightly.
"Course there is. Where you been living, mate? Up there with the toffs?"
"I wish. See you." Mickey said, putting his arm around Gwendalyn, and walking with her slowly.
"A curfew?" Gwendalyn said softly, thinking. "Something doesn't feel right."
Mickey looked over at her. "It doesn't?"
Gwendalyn shook her head lightly. "Something about those Zeppelins above…" She let out a breath. "I can't describe it."
Mickey nodded his head in agreement. "You feel it inside… that something much more dangerous is happening?"
"Exactly." She said softly as she wrapped her arms around herself as they turned onto Waterton Street. "Where exactly are we going?"
"You'll see," Mickey said as he led her up the street slowly and to SE15.
Gwendalyn blinked a few times as he rattled the knocker on number one.
"Who's that there?" A woman said opening the door holding a white stick in her hands and having ear pods on. "Who is it? I know you're there. Shame on you, tricking an old lady. I've got nothing worth stealing. And don't think I'm going to disappear! You're not going to take me."
"Hi," Mickey said softly to the old woman keeping his voice calm as he tried not to cry.
"Is that you?"
"It's me. I came home."
"Ricky?"
"It's Mickey."
"I know my own grandson's name. It's Ricky. Now, come here."
Mickey came over to the woman and hugged her. "Okay, I'm Ricky. Of course, I am. Ricky, that's me."
She suddenly slapped him.
"Ow!"
"You stupid boy. Where have you been?" She said as she continued to hit him.
"Ow! Stop hitting me!"
"It's been days and days! I keep hearing all these stories. People disappearing off the streets. There's nothing official on the download but they're all these rumors, and, and whispers. I thought that God had disappeared you!"
"That carpet on the stairs, I told you to get it fixed. You're going to fall and break your neck."
"Well, you get it fixed for me."
"I should have done way back. I guess I'm just kind of useless." Mickey said, sticking his hands in his pockets.
"Now, I never said that," Rita said, shaking her head.
"I am, though. And I'm sorry, gran. I'm so sorry."
Gwendalyn bit her lip softly shifting nervously.
"Don't talk like that. Do you know what you need? A nice sit down and a cup of tea. You got time?"
"For you, I've got all the time in the world."
"Oh, you say that, but it's all talk. It's those new friends of yours. I don't trust them."
"What friends are they?"
"Don't pretend you don't know. You've been seeing them. Missus Chan told me. Driving about all helter-skelter in that van."
"What van's that, then?"
"You know full well! Don't play games with me."
The van that they had been talking about did a handbrake turn in the road behind them.
"Get inside."
Suddenly a man jumped out of the van grabbing Micky who in turn grabbed Gwendalyn. "I've been looking for you everywhere!" He said pushing the both of them into the van before driving off.
Gwendalyn pushed Mickey off of her. "I never want to do this again."
Mickey nodded his head in agreement not liking what had happened either.
"Ricky, you were the one who told us you don't contact your family because it puts them in danger." The man said, looking at Mickey.
"Yeah. Ricky said that. Course I did, just testing." Mickey said, looking up at them.
"I saw them. I taped them. They went round Blackfriars gathering up the homeless like the child catcher. They must've took four dozen."
"The vans were hired out to a company called International Electromatics. But I did a protocol search. Turns out that's a dummy company established by guess who?" The blonde-haired woman said as she drove down the road.
"I don't know. Who?"
"Cybus Industries!" The two of them snapped.
"Well, now we've got evidence," Jake explained putting his hands in his pockets.
"Bad news is, they've arrested Thin Jimmy. So that just leaves you." Moore admitted softly, shaking her head lightly.
"Leaves me what?"
"The Number One. Top of the list. London's Most Wanted." Jake explained to him. "Well, you and Gwen here."
"Okay, cool. Say that again?"
Gwendalyn blinked a few times in concern. She was alive in this world? Now that was rather scary. She couldn't sense the magic in this world. So whose face was she wearing in this parallel world?
Mickey's hand went to hers and gripped it softly in his knowing that this wasn't easy on her. He had noticed changes in her and it made his heart hurt to know that the Doctor had done this to her.
DWDWDW
Before they knew it, night had fallen and they were parking next to a building.
Jake blinked a few times moving out of the car. "There's a light on. There's someone inside the base. Missis Moore, we've got visitors."
The two of them pulled out their guns.
"One, two, three, go!"
The four of them went inside the building.
Two familiar figures stood in the room next to one another.
Mickey's jaw dropped to the floor in shock.
"What the hell are you doing?" Ricky demanded looking at them.
"What're you doing there?" Jake questioned looking at Ricky and Gwen.
"What am I doing here? What am I doing there?" Ricky questioned.
"I think you mean what are we doing over there," Gwen said, putting her small hand onto his black-clad arm.
Jack and Mrs. Moore turned their guns onto Mickey and Gwendalyn.
"Oh bollocks," Gwendalyn said as she slowly brought her hands up knowing that this wasn't a good sign.
DWDWDW
Mickey and Gwendalyn had been stripped down to their underwear and tied to two chairs both being carefully scanned.
Jake looked up at Ricky. "He's clean. No bugs."
"But this is off the scale. He's flesh and blood. How did that happen?"
"She's clean as well…" Moore said, looking over at Ricky. "Well, it could be that Cybus Industries have perfected the science of human cloning, or your father had a bike."
"And your name is Mickey, not Ricky," Ricky questioned looking at Mickey.
"Mickey. Dad was Jackson Smith. Used to work at the key cutters in Clifton's Parade. Went to Spain, never came back."
"But that's my dad. So, we're brothers?"
"Be fair. What else could it be?" Jake questioned looking between the two of them.
"I don't know. But he doesn't just look like me, he is exactly the same. There's something else going on here, Jake."
"So, who are you lot?"
"We? We are the Preachers. As in Gospel Truth. You see? No earplugs. While the rest of the world downloads from Cybus Industries, we, we have got freedom. You're talking to London's Most Wanted, but target Number One is Lumic, and we are going to bring him down."
"From your kitchen?"
Ricky looked at Mickey with his brow raised. "Have you got a problem with that?"
Mickey shook his head lightly. "No, it's a good kitchen."
The two of them were allowed to put their clothes back on.
Moore looked at her computer with her brows furrowed. "It's an upload from Gemini."
"Who's Gemini?"
"The vans are back. They're moving out of Battersea. Looks like Gemini was right. Lumic's finally making a move."
"And we are right behind him. Pack up, we're leaving." Ricky said with a nod of his head.
They quickly got into the van and began to check over their weapons.
Mickey looked over at Gwendalyn knowing that this probably wasn't a good thing.
Gwendalyn felt his hand go to hers and she squeezed it lightly trying to reassure him that everything would be alright. But she hadn't a clue if everything would be alright or not.
DWDWDW
Mickey and Gwendalyn were still in the van with Moore while Ricky, Jake, and Gwen were hidden in the bushes reporting back to them.
"I don't know what they're doing, but this seems to be the target. Big house, fair bit of money. Now we have got to find a way to get in." Ricky said over the walkie-talkie.
"I've identified the address. It belongs to Peter Tyler, the Vitex millionaire." Moore confirmed.
"Pete Tyler?"
"He's listed as one of Lumic's henchmen. A traitor to the state."
"But we've got to get in there."
"Now, shut it, duplicate. That's what I just said." Ricky snapped as a ramp was dropped down from the back of the lorry. "What are they doing? What the hell are they?"
Gwendalyn shifted in the back with a worried gaze on her face. Her hand gripped onto Mickey's tightly in worry.
Mickey looked over at her seeing the worried gaze on her face. "You alright?" He asked softly.
"Something is very wrong." She said as she flung the door open on the van and quickly got out of it.
Mickey quickly followed her knowing that if she was going towards the problem that something indeed was wrong. Mickey narrowed his eyes, noticing Rose hugging Ricky.
Gwen narrowed her eyes at Rose.
"Yeah. No offense, sweetheart, but who the hell are you?" Rickey questioned looking at the blonde-haired girl.
"Rose! That's not me. That's like the other one." Mickey said, coming up to them with Gwendalyn behind him.
"Oh, as if things weren't bad enough, there's two Micke's." The Doctor said letting out a breath.
"It's Ricky." Gwen and Ricky said at the same time.
"But there's more of them," Mickey said, looking around as they were surrounded by Cybermen.
"We're surrounded."
"Put the guns down. Bullets won't stop them." The Doctor said looking up.
Suddenly Jake started to fire his gun.
The Doctor stopped him. "No! Stop shooting, now. We surrender! Hands up. There's no need to damage us. We're good stock. We volunteer for the upgrade program. Take us to be processed."
Gwendalyn let out a breath shaking her head lightly.
"You are rogue elements." The cyberman said, looking at them.
"But we surrender."
"You are incompatible."
"But this is a surrender."
"You will be deleted."
"But we're surrendering! Listen to me, we surrender!"
"You are inferior. Man will be reborn as Cyberman, but you will perish under maximum deletion."
The cybermen held out their deadly arms toward them. "Delete. Delete. Delete!"

This is the end of Chapter 14. I hope that you guys enjoyed this chapter. I do apologize that I had to split the episode up into two chapters. But I think that's how it is going to be with most of this story and the series alone. There is too much going on in each episode to be just one chapter. I don't want to have extremely long chapters. Please leave a review and let me know what you think. I will try to update next week with a brand new chapter. Until next time.
