Leilani Lily Potter really had the worst luck. Impossibly, outrageous, freaky misfortune to be honest or in other words; Potter Luck.
Just five minutes ago she had been at the graveyard, her and Voldemort's wand connected and a golden dome over them. She really had tried her best, pushed all her magic into it. She had wanted to survive no matter what.
Her wand had been overloaded with magic, actually heating up and she didn't even know why but suddenly her wand burst into flames, an orange riddled with purple streaks. As soon as Voldemort's spell collided with it her wand literally exploded and she got thrown back.
At least that's what she had thought.
When Leilani opened her eyes again she found herself in a small sidestreet, her body dirty and with several scratch marks from the fall. Her hands were bloodied, the same as her still bleeding arm. Her wand pieces in front of her, completely in splinters, some even stuck in her hands and everything that remained of her wand's core was a small amount of ash.
Leilani really had no clue how she managed to apparate and where she was. Her limbs were still shaking from the aftermath of magic exhaustion and the several crucios she had experienced.
Even worse when she tried to make her way onto the busy street she found out that she didn't even know the language that was spoken.
Truly Leilani's luck had acted up again. Sure, she was saved from Voldemort but where actually was she?
She earned quite a few odd looks but she stubbornly kept on walking. Maybe she would find a wizard that could help her. After all, most wizards knew about her and she really banked on that fact for once.
A glance at the newspaper stand next to her made her sigh in relief. It was still the same date as before. Sure, she had no idea where she was but at least it wasn't time travel.
Leilani had no luck though, no matter how long she walked she encountered no one willing to help her.
Evening crept closer and while she had figured out she was in Romania she still had no way to get home or even a clue how she managed to get here. She naturally had no money on her either, to be honest besides the clothes she was wearing and the splinters of her wand she just couldn't leave behind, she had nothing. As night rolled around she had found a small park and hid herself in the bushes, after all she couldn't book a hotel like that.
It was time to find a way out, maybe magic would work? If she could get the ministry to notice her she could explain and they would be able to get her home again. She still had to warn everyone about Voldemort after all.. and Cedric.
She swallowed down the tears. She had no time for that. She needed to get home!
While she wasn't very adept at wandless magic she still gave her best, to be honest she tried for hours. Her magic was even acting up. Most of her spells had a weird tint and the fire form before appeared the whole time when she tried to cast a spell, true other colours lightened up but it still remained fire instead of her normal electric sparks.
If she just let her magic out it kept on being orange but to be honest? The orange did nothing, It seemed pointless and so she ignored that colour and everything affiliated with it. The next easiest colour was purple and she managed to make things enlarge and shrink with it.
Leilani got more tired with every spell she tried but no matter how much time passed no letter nor Auror appeared.
In the end she passed out from exhaustion, savely hidden by the bushes.
The next morning didn't go any better. While her stomach protested with hunger she was able to ignore it. At the Dursleys she had gone longer without food and so she kept on trying, lashing out with magic until she fainted.
In fact she tried it the whole day, even going as far as using it near muggles but to no avail.
The next night had creeped up when she realised that her attempts were pointless. There was no letter and she doubted one would come at this point.
That night she curled herself together as small as she could, weeping out of hunger and hopelessness.
Her next day she spent scavenging the city again, still trying to find any sign of magic but to no avail. Even worse she felt constant eyes on her and she knew how she looked; A barely 1,40m small young girl, looking hopeless and definitely homeless.
She tried to stay away from the shady side streets but she felt vulnerable and unsave. Still no success in finding any kind of wizard folk or any sign of magic at all. No letter had arrived either.
At night she had found a small forest and found another hiding place there, curling up again and thankful that it was summer. Sure, the nights were still fresh but she knew it could be worse. Her hunger was giving her stomach pains at this point. She had found a water fountain some time while walking though so she at least wasn't thirsty.
The next day followed the same routine. She actually had picked up a freshly thrown away plastic bottle, cleaned it as good as she could at another fountain and filled it up. Sure, it wasn't hygienic and she could only pray that she wasn't about to get some kind of sickness but the lack of food was noticeable and so she tried to fill herself up with water.
While there was still no sign of magic she did have an encounter with a nice woman who she didn't understand but who had handed her a bit of money.
To be honest Leilani had no clue what to do any longer and the more time she spent on the streets the more desperate she got. She ended up begging at a street corner to at least be able to get any kind of food. She did notice the glances she got and with every passing moment she felt unsafer.
Leilani wasn't stupid, she knew a girl especially as young as her was in danger on the streets and so the next night she tried her best at magic again, using a rain puddle as a mirror she gave her best to try glamours, not really succeeding much to be honest. In the end she tried herself at an enlarging charm, having at least learned them at school and the purple fire did come easiest to her after the orange she had deemed useless.
It did go wrong again, while she managed to make herself taller with the help of the purple fire, which she categorised as a form of her magic, it led to a consequenz.
She probably overdid it as in a sudden explosion her eye colour and hair colour turned purple.
She truly didn't know how to reverse it and in the end just accepted the change. She did use a shrinking charm on her chest and hair. While she theoretically could pass as a guy now it didn't help much with her way to feminine facial features.
Leilani knew makeup could help, while she was aware she had no clue how to actually apply makeup she still went into a store and to her luck there was a heavily discounted set.
It was ghastly and definitely meant for customising oneself but she was able to afford it.
Way to light, almost white foundation and some things like purple eyeshadow, kajal and lipstick.
She did understand why it was off for 90% though, after all no one in their right mind would buy it out of their own free will. Leilani had no other option though.
In the quiet of a public bathroom she tried her best to apply it only to fail horribly.
It looked terrible and while it hid her features she still was aware that she turned her face into a monstrosity.
In a last attempt she tried lipstick and eyeshadow as well and to be honest it kinda worked. Especially in combination with her tattered clothes she reminded herself of a goth or punk…. a really bad goth or punk who had no clue of fashion or anything but well… she could pretend at least? The only important thing was that she looked like she was in ehr 20's and like a guy… even if that guy obviously suffered from a taste aberration.
Leilani tried her best to survive on the streets, resorting to begging or going through the trash to scour small amounts of food. It wasn't fun, she felt like she was starving half the time, exhausted from the lack of sleep she got by sleeping outside and bothered by her own smell but she did feel saver as a guy.
She still couldn't find any sign of magic though, no matter how hard she searched and while she tried her best to find newspapers lying around or watch the news at public shops she found no mention of her missing statues either.
It was at that time when she came upon a circus. Hasn't she dreamed of that when she was a child? To run away from the Dursleys and join a wandering circus?
Leilani knew she needed a job and surviving on the street was harsher than anything and with any luck the circus might be going to England at some point or another country or place where she could find other wizards.
It was time to find out if the circus really accepted street rats and runaways.
