It was an exciting morning. Tomorrow, Adrian and Trudy were getting married again. Hope woke them up by blowing kisses.
"Good morning sweetheart," Trudy said, kissing her on the forehead.
"Hi mama," Hope said.
"Do you want to wear your pink dress or your blue dress," Adrian asked Hope.
"Wainbow," Hope said.
Six months had passed since her birthday and Hope was talking a lot. She also had a mind of her own.
Adrian got out the rainbow dress and ironed it. Trudy helped her put it on.
"Time for breakfast," Trudy said, "Do you want eggs or a bagel."
"Pancakes," Hope said, clapping her hands.
"I'll make her the pancakes," Marsha offered, "and I'll make some for you and Adrian too."
Trudy smiled.
"Thanks. Mom, do you think I'm doing okay with Hope?"
"You're an amazing mother," Marsha said, "What makes you ask that?"
"Well like when she picks something different than the choices we give her, we don't put our foot down. I worry it will be tough for her when she starts school and-"
"Trudy," Marsha laughed, "Hope is years away from starting school. Your dad and I raised you exactly the way you're raising your child. We did a damn fine job of raising you."
"Thanks mom," Trudy said, "You guys are always there for me. I appreciate that so much."
"I'm a mother," Marsha pointed out.
"You're the best mom in the world," Trudy said.
"I have the best child in the world," Marsha returned.
"Sorry mom," Trudy said, "Hope is the best child in the world."
"She ties with you," Marsha said laughing.
She put the pancakes on the plate.
"Breakfast is ready," she announced.
Trudy put Hope in the highchair. Dwight, Marsha, Trudy and Adrian all sat around the table.
"Yummy," Hope said excitedly.
"So Trudy," Dwight asked, "Adrian, are you two excited for tomorrow."
"What tomorrow," Hope asked.
"Remember Hope," Adrian reminded her, "Mommy and daddy are getting married tomorrow."
"I think Hope should come up with us," Trudy said, "She's our family."
"I was just about to say that," Adrian said.
"Great minds think alike," Dwight remarked.
"Don't tell me YOU were thinking that too," Trudy laughed.
The next day the Limo showed up to pick up Trudy, Adrian, Hope, Dwight and Marsha.
"That's a big car," Hope said, amazed.
"It is," Adrian said, "and you're a big girl."
He kissed her nose.
"We're going in the big car," Marsha said.
Dwight carried Hope's carseat and set it up in the limo. Trudy buckled her in.
"Cartoons," Hope exclaimed seeing there was a TV, "Peas very much"
Adrian and Trudy smiled as Dwight found a children's cartoon show. Hope quickly became engrossed in the show. As soon as they passed her favorite playground, Hope's eyes lit up.
"Pwaygwound," she said.
"Okay," Trudy remarked, "We can play for a few minutes… but then we have to get back in the big car."
Hope chose the swings. Trudy put her in the swings and Adrian pushed her for about 15 minutes.
"Okay honey," Adrian said after it was time to go, "Let's go back in the big car."
"Okay daddy," Hope said brightly, "Thank you for letting me pway."
Adrian grinned.
The limo pulled up to the wedding venue at 10:30 AM. Adrian, Trudy and Hope took some pictures. Adrian and Trudy insisted on having Hope in each of the pictures. They held her through every picture. Marsha and Dwight were in some pictures. Hope was in their pictures too. The wedding didn't start until 2:45 PM. It was plenty of time to get ready.
"Come on," Ilizabeth said taking Hope, "Let's go check out the bridal suite."
