In which Percy is epically badass but also- Chaos magic is not something to use lightly.

Undeath9087: Very interesting first impression lol. And honestly, part of it stems from the fact that she's used to people having superficial crushes on her- because she's a well known actress rather than because, y'know, they like her for her. And in her mind Piper and Annabeth are her best friends and because the only experience she has with people crushing on her is people who don't really know her she just doesn't realise that 'wait, wait they are also crushing bad and it's not just because I'm a pretty actress who plays their fave character.'
rage2091: Not that specific one no.
Wisestriker: Not yet I'm afraid, but Clarisse will come. Also, no it can't fix Annabeth's hand purely because of the other magic that was used to fix it in the first place which sort of doesn't mesh with the healing power of the Fleece. I am afraid that Annabeth is permanently disabled- though she won't let that stop her from being the most badass child of Athena in history. It just felt important to me that it isn't something that can just be brushed off and forgotten.
MKDemigodzilla-Warrior: I mean, I don't think he did hear that, but that doesn't mean it's over.
Guest: She would humble him very quickly. Just imagine it, Reyna taking one look at Percy arriving and just like 'Hah, Octavian's about the get fucked up.'
Guest: He saw them with Annabeth when they came out on DVD, and he knows a lot of the important basics- it's fine details that were edited and changed, and anything that would confirm that Percy is Greek, though there is much hinting in the books and movies that Percy is something different- which has fans there like 'Oooh, well let's theorise' and all of the fans are like 'We need more!' which Percy finds greatly amusing to respond to the theories, messing around about them.
Ryan Fowler: Well she's definitely about to go chaos mode.
Percy quickly pulled Grover out of the cave, head turning rapidly, eyes flicking around, looking for threats as she ushered the Satyr up towards the ridge, climbing up behind him as she mentally called out to Annabeth and Piper.
"I have Grover, I'm going to get him to get straight to the boat." she told them quickly, "and then-" she was cut off by a mental scream that made her blood run cold, and then a horrified shriek in her mind.
"PIPER!"
And Percy's gaze snapped around, even as Grover let out a worried noise and tried to ask her what was wrong- he must have heard her sharp gasp- and he was glancing back down at her even as she hauled herself onto the ridge quickly, spinning, her eyes scanning the island, and after what felt like a lifetime but couldn't have been more than five seconds she spotted movement.
It was a little difficult to tell from the distance, but Polyphemus looked like he'd just snatched something- or as Percy realised with a horrible sinking feeling, someone, out of the air.
And there was another small shape flying around his head, darting in and out as quickly as she could as Polyphemus tried to swat at her.
He must have noticed Piper watching him or something.
The thought made Percy feel sick to her stomach. Gods what if she was really hurt. Percy wasn't sure if she'd ever be able to forgive herself.
"What's happening?" Grover's voice was panicked, "Percy-"
"Get to the boat! Tell the girls there to be ready if they do need to run." she ordered, taking a running jump and leaping off the ridge, transforming before she'd fallen far- and she could hear Grover's stunned gasp in the background but she paid it no heed as she soared through the air, powerful wings beating hard.
Annabeth was still screaming frantically through their mental link, diving and swooping, clearly aiming for the Cyclopses eye- smart. That was his best weak spot. But then again Annabeth was all about strategy.
The minor problem was that Annabeth was still learning- she was a fast learner sure, but she still wasn't quite used to her bird form- not enough to find it easy to dive and swoop and dodge.
And of course, owls could be fast. but they weren't as fast as most hawks were.
"I'm coming!" Percy called through their mental link. "I'm coming!"
"Help her!" Annabeth's mental voice almost seemed to crack, and Percy was sure she was probably crying.
And Piper wasn't saying anything, wasn't projecting anything. Percy forced herself not to panic. That didn't mean Piper was dead. It probably meant that she'd been knocked out when he'd grabbed her.
And then she was there, swooping in and raking her long talons across the Cyclopses eye, making him roar in pain, one hand flying up to clutch at it.
"Distract him!"
"But Piper-"
"Just do it!" Percy swooped away and down, focusing- and she felt that familiar tingling sensation, and when she hit the ground it was in her normal shape, and she dropped and rolled as Polyphemus managed to scoop up a rock and fling it in her direction, likely more out of luck than skill.
Even as she was rising to her feet Percy was flinging her arm out, pushing it into the duat and withdrawing her khopesh.
She whistled loudly, making Polyphemus turning his head from side to side frantically, still trying to swat at Annabeth.
And Percy sprinted towards the Cyclops, gripping her khopesh tightly and using it to direct her spell, "Stahp!"
And once again the air was filled with a roar of pain from Polythemus. Percy did not feel even remotely guilty as the hand that was holding Piper was sliced off at the wrist.
And she was rushing forward even as the hand opened when it hit the ground and the tiny dove rolled out limply, and a moment later the dove was transforming, growing and shifting. And then it was Piper again, and Percy was moving, sliding her arms under the other girl and picking her up,.
"Annabeth!" she screamed the name, and a moment later the owl that was the current form of her friend was swooping towards them as Percy yelled, "Tas!" the spell summoning up thick ropes which instantly twined around the Cyclopses arms and pulled them to his sides despite his furious yelling.
And then Annabeth was on Percy's shoulder and the daughter of Poseidon was running, sprinting as fast as she could, forcing herself not to look down at the girl in her arms, terrified of what she might see.
Her eyes quickly spotted the bridge down the hill as she ran, that was perfect- if they could get across it and slice the ropes holding it they'd be able to stop Polyphemus from following them- which he was certain to do as soon as he got rid of the ropes.
So Percy ran. She pushed herself hard- as hard as she had ever pushed herself, until her legs felt like they were burning from the effort.
And then she felt the surface beneath her feet. Her grip on Piper tightened as the bridge swayed with the movement, her feet pounding on the wooden planks.
She had to have faith- it wasn't like the bridge would be weak. Polyphemus had to cross it multiple times daily. That meant that even combined the weight of Percy and Piper shouldn't be a big issue. The only real issue was the unsteadiness of the bridge- and Percy refused to acknowledge it.
As she ran she glanced over her shoulder, her gaze focusing on Polyphemus- who had managed to free himself and was racing after them, his stump of a wrist still dripping blood.
He was gaining fast, but Percy had managed to get a good head start, "Annabeth!" she called, "Start on the ropes of the bridge!"
"Of course!" Annabeth left her shoulder in an instant with a powerful flap of her wings, and Percy forced herself to run even harder, muttering a spell under her breath, a sharp wind springing up out of nowhere, pushing Percy forward harder- then the bridge was lurching, one of the ropes snapping and Percy shifted her grip on Piper so that she could grab onto the rope that hadn't broken yet with her free hand to keep herself and Piper from tumbling into the chasm beneath them, and she could see Annabeth frantically pecking and ripping at the other rope with her talons, and she could see that it was about to snap- and Percy was less than three steps from solid ground.
She glanced back over her shoulder, Polyphemus had gotten free and he was rushing towards them- with his long legs, the length of his stride- Percy turned her gaze back forward.
It would be close. Incredibly close but there was a chance. She could do it.
Then she was throwing herself forward in a leap, the wind behind her springing up harder at her whispered command, helping propel her through the air- and she twisted as she did, her gaze snapping to Polyphemus as his foot landed on the bridge- and the rope snapped.
The Cyclops leapt backwards to avoid tumbling into the chasm below with the bridge.
And Percy's back hit hard ground, Piper's weight knocking the wind out of her.
But they'd made it. They were on solid ground.
She could have done with a chance to breathe, but she knew that she couldn't waste time.
She lurched to her feet, shifting her grip on Piper as she did, desperately hauling them up, even as she lost her grip on the spell that had transformed Annabeth, who thankfully was on the ground so she didn't fall and hurt herself.
The second the other girl was fully transformed she was moving to help Percy with Piper.
"We need to get to the boat." Annabeth's voice cracked, "We have first aid supplies on the boat."
"Of course." Percy gave a sharp little nod. "We have to get past the sheep." she was breathless but determined before- "What about the fleece- we-" she forced herself to look at Piper, who's face was ashen, there were bruises already forming on her forehead- and on her arms and legs, she looked crumpled and broken in Percy's arms. She might not make it back to the boat.
"It could help her." Annabeth breathed, clearly coming to the same conclusion as Percy. If they hadn't needed it before they certainly did now.
Percy's gaze shifted to the path to the beach, the flock of killer sheep.
And she felt a wave of anger filling her.
Those killer sheep were standing between her and the one thing that might be able to help Piper right now.
Piper her best friend. The girl who was always there with her when things went crazy. She'd had friends before Piper of course. But most of them had been older than her- other than Felix. And Piper- Piper had been her best friend from the very start. And of course there was Annabeth- she adored the other girl. Somehow she'd managed to slip into Percy's heart alongside Piper- something Percy hadn't believed was possible. And the thought of losing either of them... well, Percy would have once said nothing could terrify her like the thought of losing her mom or her siblings did. But this? This was on par with the time Carter had come so close to dying.
She could feel the same rage she'd felt then, bubbling up inside of her chest.
She felt like her vision was tinged with red.
She caught Annabeth's shoulder before the daughter of Athena could sprint forward to try and get the fleece, twisting and pushing Piper into the other girls arms.
If Annabeth went the sheep would eat her- that thought just made her feel even more fury
And something about her expression made Annabeth's breath catch, she reeled back slightly before quickly accepting Piper's weight.
"Percy- Percy what- what are you going to-"
"Get her to the boat." Percy ordered.
And there was no arguing with that tone. It wasn't a suggestion or a request it was an order. And Annabeth swallowed hard, taking a step back and nodding shortly before she turned and fled with Piper bundled in her arms.
And Percy turned her gaze back to the sheep, which were milling around, a few of them sniffing the air and turning their heads towards her.
And she let the pain and fury and terror burst out of her as she screamed, thrusting her hands forward.
She felt the pain, felt it twisting in her stomach, burning and horrifying, churning through her veins, and two tendrils of red power, flickering and twisting like electricity whipped out from her hands.
It was chaos magic Percy knew. Chaos magic directed and controlled by her.
It didn't burn the grass it touched, it disintegrated it, and she pushed both hands outwards, the magic whipping out, catching the sheep who didn't move fast enough as they let out panicked bleating cries, and she absently knew that some of them were dying when the magic touched them but she didn't care as she kept moving her hands, directing waves of chaos magic, forcing the sheep to flee or die, dissolving into nothingness.
And then they were gone and she let go of the power in an instant, sprinting towards the tree with the fleece and pulling it off the branch, slinging it over her shoulders in a smooth motion- it instantly seemed to get to work, soothing the prickling burning sensation where it touched her skin.
And she was moving again, ignoring the wave of exhaustion that wanted to drag her under.
She would have needed to sit, to catch her breath at the very least without the fleece she was sure. It was her first time touching chaos magic in over three years. The use had drained her far more than any normal magic could, and she was shivering and swaying as she started to stumble away across the dead and cracked ground- dead and cracked because of her, and then the ground changed, turning into the sand of a beach and she could see the boat waiting for her in the distance- and was that- there were a few figures on the deck, probably and Grover Annabeth Percy had to assume.
And then there was a sharp pain and Percy screamed as something hit her back from behind with all the force of a bus, and Percy was thrown forward, tumbling head over heels, landing face first gasping and choking desperately as the pain in her back made it hard to even breath.
And then there was the voice, loud and booming.
"You will not escape me!"
