"What are you doing here?" – Amelia asked and Arizona looked lost.
"Maggie told me you went out on a dinner and I decided to give it a try and check it out in here. I know how much you love this place. Oh, sorry, hi. Kai Bartley, nice to meet you" – Kai greeted Arizona, who was perplexed.
"Hi. Arizona Robbins" – Arizona gave them a handshake.
"Oh my God, Dr. Arizona Robbins? I've read so much about your work with Dr. Herman. Big fan" – Kai seemed happy.
"Thank you. Thank you very much. Listen, Amelia…" – Arizona got interrupted.
"Kai, I'm leaving now. Good night" – Amelia started to walk, hoping Arizona would follow her.
"Wait, wait. I'm sorry, I didn't want to interrupt your dinner with a colleague, I just need to talk to you for a second. Please?" – Kai grabbed Amelia's hand, making Arizona jealousy internally.
"I'm going to leave you guys to talk" – Arizona said, trying to get out of that situation.
"No, wait. Arizona, don't leave. Kai's leaving, we don't have anything to say to each other" – Amelia held Arizona's hand, but Kai didn't notice.
"I think you two have a few things to resolve. I'm going now. Good night, Amelia. Thank you for the dinner" – Arizona said and left, calling a cab.
"Amelia, can we talk? Please? I came all the way here to see you" – Kai asked.
"I didn't ask you to. I have nothing to say, Kai. And you've ruined my night" – Amelia shouted.
"But I do, I have a few things to say to you. Would you listen to me?" – Kai held both of Amelia's arms.
"What?" – Amelia sighed.
"I'm sorry. I was wrong, I've hurt you and I regret it. I'd love to have a second chance. Please. I can't take you off my mind" – Kai declared.
"Kai, we're over. I've been through hell to get over you, us. I can't erase everything that happened" – Amelia said.
"But can you try? We can try this together. I'm going to be better, for you" – Kai insisted.
"I don't want you to be better for me. I wanted you to be good. Just a fucking good person and you're not. You weren't, at least" – Amelia said.
"Well, let me be, now!" – Kai begged.
"You can be good. Just not with me. We're done, Kai. Please, let me go" – Amelia asked.
"Why? You said you've been through hell, that you loved me. Why are you giving up?" – Kai asked, raising their voice a little bit.
"Me? I'm the one giving up? What were you doing when you were fucking another woman, then? Investing in our relationship? I loved you very much but not anymore. You don't deserve me. I'm not perfect but at least I respected you" – Amelia shouted.
"Is there someone else now? Are you in love with someone else?" – Kai asked.
"What if I am? It doesn't concern you. Not anymore" – Amelia affirmed.
"Well, I'm not giving up on you. I love you, Amelia. I'll prove it to you" – Kai said and left the parking lot and Amelia started to cry.
She felt bad for Arizona, but also for herself. Seeing Kai and hearing all of those words she wanted to hear so bad a while ago made her feel like the saddest person on Earth. She didn't know what to do: should she call Arizona and try to explain? Should she just go straight to her hotel? Should she just go home? Should she accept Kai back?
Suddenly she felt like being alone. Not only that night, but for a while. She shouldn't have invested on Arizona so quickly, maybe she wasn't ready to date anyone.
Meanwhile, in her hotel room, Arizona was sipping a whisky. It wasn't her drink of choice, but she felt the urge to drink something strong. She had planned to stay in Seattle until Wednesday, but with all of that, she might go back home as soon as the conference is over, on Sunday. Her thoughts were interrupted by a phone call. At first, she thought it was Amelia calling, but to her surprise, it wasn't.
"Nicole, hi!" – Arizona said.
"You're not supposed to take my call" – Herman pointed.
"Then why did you call me?" – Arizona asked, confused.
"I was reaching out your voicemail, just wanted to tell you that Dr. Page called me today and said wonderful things about your talk at the conference today" – Herman told the news.
"That's great, Nicole. Thank you for sharing with me!" – Arizona thanked her friend.
"Weren't you supposed to be having sex with Shepherd now?" – Herman asked, making Arizona frown.
"Nicole! Would you please not talk about my sex life?" – Arizona scolded her.
"You're the one who told me you had a date tonight" – Nicole laughed.
"It didn't go well" – Arizona confessed.
"Why? She's into men, after all?" – Nicole asked.
"No. It's not that. Her ex showed up" – Arizona said.
"In her life or actually showed up in person, at the date?" – Nicole asked.
"The second one" – Arizona confessed.
"Oh, my God. It's sad, but I wish I could see that. Well, I couldn't anyway" – Herman joked about her blindness – "But Amelia just let go of you, and went back with the ex?"
"No. I mean, I don't know. Kai wanted to talk, she didn't, but I felt like I wasn't supposed to be there, so I just left" – Arizona confessed, with a sad voice.
"Yeah, well, you're stupid enough to do that" – Herman teased.
"Why do you say that?" – Arizona shouted.
"Because you're clearly sad, you like Shepherd and you let someone named Kai say half a dozen words and win the girl!" – Herman exclaimed.
"Oh my God, Nicole, this is not high school. I wasn't disputing Amelia. They need to solve their unresolved problems, that's all. If she decided it is in the past, maybe we can be something, I don't know" – Arizona vented.
"I can't stand the drama, Robbins. If you like the girl, tell her that. Stop waiting for the universe to arrange things for you" – Herman scolded Arizona.
"She's not a girl! She's a woman. Whatever, it's late and I should be sleeping" – Arizona tried to quit the conversation.
"Actually you should be having sex" – Herman laughed.
"Good night, Nicole" – Arizona said.
"Good night, Robbins. Tell her already" – Herman said and ended the call.
