Chapter 28
Settle Our Differences
Beta, also known as "Natsume" in her very professional outfit, does some book signing after selling her next novel. It was once again a hit and Beta was so happy that her books were selling well. A few days after, the book signing event took place and every fan of her novels have lined up to have their books signed. Beta has just finished signing Rose's book and hands it to her.
Rose blushes, but is very grateful to meet the one and only author she's a big fan of. "I cannot thank you enough. Your books have intrigued me. I cannot wait for the next book to come out~"
Beta nods with a smile. "I'm glad to know that you enjoy my novels so much. I'll do my very best to make the next book as wonderful as this one."
Rose giggles and bows to the author. She turns to leave to have the next person have their book signed. Beta is all smiles as she signs a few more books for her fans. It's a good thing she's become famous, despite working for Shadow Garden. She just hopes she will keep working with her precious members without having to take an offer that will separate her from them for good. Even if she did, she will let her members know and will try her best to go visit them if things go wrong.
She signs another book and tells them to have a good day. When she turns to the person for the next book signing, her smile slowly fades. The person, who just plops the book down in front of the silver haired elf, is none other than the Princess, Alexia Midgar. Beta despises this woman ever since her foot got stepped on during an event and the two never got along ever since. However, there were a few exceptions, such as teaming up to foil some plans from evil. But other than that, the two of them never spoke nicely to each other. But something is clearly up when Alexia handed her the novel she was supposed to sign. It's better not to get worked up in front of her fans.
Beta clears her throat and starts to take the book. But Alexia gently puts her hand on it.
"Wait, stop," the silver haired princess says.
"What's the matter?" Beta asks.
"This…isn't for me," Alexia taps her two index fingers together. "It's for my older sister. See, I was actually reading one of your books and then introduced them to Iris-nee-san. She loved them so much that she wanted a signature from you someday. And now that I got this chance, I uhhhh…"
"No problem," Beta says as she gets out her pen and signs it. "Iris…was it?"
"Yes," Alexia says.
"Okay, give me a second here," Beta keeps jotting it down and then hands it to Alexia.
The princess opens the cover to read, "To my fans, Alexia and Iris. Please keep enjoying my novels. Hope you have a nice day." Her eyes widen and looks to the author.
"I thought I told you-" Alexia starts but the silver haired elf cuts her off.
"Listen," Beta leans forward a bit, elbows on the table. "I know we don't get along very well. But just know that I'm happy to see that you like what I do. I'm not that bad of a person once you get to know me, right?"
Alexia blinks twice and then closes her eyes. "You're right. I shouldn't have been so tough on you based on your…looks." She eyes Beta's large chest.
"So we have an agreement?" Beta says.
"I should treat you more fairly," Alexia says. "Yeah."
Beta nods. "Well then, you run along. You're holding up the line."
"Right," Alexia bows and turns to leave.
She walks a few steps to stop and turn toward the beautiful author, who is continuing signing books. She actually properly talked to her without any trouble. Natsume seems like a very nice person. She clutches the book to her chest with a smile.
"I hope we to talk again like this," she says to herself.
