Hawkmoth plummeted towards the street below, bounced off a car, and rolled across the street.

Above him, Black Cat and Ocelotl grinned. One wore a helmet in the shape of a cat's head, and the other looked just like Chat Noir except for his black hair, which matched his costume almost perfectly.

"Had enough yet?" Ocelotl shouted down.

But Hawkmoth just scowled, and with impossible agility he leapt towards them, brandishing his cane. The two cats had not been expecting it, and he almost managed to knock them both aside with ease; both skittered away at the last second.

"Clearly not," Black Cat grinned, as Ocelotl pressed the button on his staff, bringing out his vicious green blades. "Shall we go hunting, then?"

"I am the hunter here," Hawkmoth replied testily, rushing towards him. The Englishman backflipped up and out of the way, landing on top of a chimney and making a show of looking bored.

"Not with skills like that, you're not." He told the villain.

Ocelotl charged towards Hawkmoth, his staff brandished over his head, but Hawkmoth anticipated the move and parried him, his cane fitting neatly between two of the Mexica hero's blades. He yanked it upwards, and had suddenly disarmed him. But Ocelotl's grin did not waver, and no sooner had his staff left his hand than a yo-yo had wrapped itself around its shaft, and with a yank it flew back into the hand of Temoli.

"How many of you are there?" Hawkmoth groaned. "It doesn't matter, I'm sure your miraculous will do just as well."

"Like I said, I wouldn't do that if I were you," the Butterfly shouted over.

"I don't care," Hawkmoth replied.

Temoli threw the staff back over to her partner, and brandished Hawkmoth's own cane at him, but with a flick of Hawkmoth's hand the weapon broke free of her grip and returned to its owner.

Temoli looked a bit disappointed for a second, but soon recovered, and threw her yo-yo, which Hawkmoth knocked aside. It narrowly missed the Black Cat, who was charging, but Hawkmoth ducked under his strike and whacked him, sending him flying backwards into the chimney. He fell to the roof, winded, as Hawkmoth made a run for it, but Ocelotl blocked his path. The two exchanged blows with their staffs for a few seconds, before Hawkmoth had to divert his attention as Temoli attacked him from the other side.

"You're not my Ladybug or Chat Noir," Hawkmoth said as he fought them. "Where did you come from?"

But they just shook their heads and looked baffled.

The Black Cat stood up, shook himself off, and then sprang at Hawkmoth's head, his fist drawn back, but Hawkmoth ducked, and he flew over him, just managing to grab a drainpipe on his way down and flip himself up and back onto his feet. Hawkmoth then managed to exploit an opening to knock Temoli aside and grabbed Ocelotl's tail. The warrior yelped as he was pulled off his feet; Hawkmoth spun him around his head a couple of times and then let go, sending him sailing into the Black Cat and knocking them both off the roof and to the street below. There was a nasty crash as the two heroes hit the pavement. Temoli shouted in alarm, as Hawkmoth looked over and saw that the street was beginning to fill up with civilians. The Butterfly yelled and attacked with his own cane, but Hawkmoth easily swatted him aside.

"Pathetic," he told the Venetian, scathingly, and then glanced down at the street again. He knew that he was being filmed by about fifty cameras, for while Akuma attacks were common it was a lot rarer for Hawkmoth himself to make a public appearance- let alone two Hawkmoths, two Chat Noirs and a Ladybug.

He growled and turned away from the rooftop, just in time to see two familiar figures approaching, Chat Noir and two more Ladybugs, one with the familiar blue hair and the other with red hair.

"Did you really think you could get rid of me that easily?" Ladybug called as she approached.

"I should have known not to ," Hawkmoth replied, more to himself than anyone else. That had been a miscalculation, clearly, and he was paying for it with what was about to be a seven against one fight.

The three of them landed in front of him, and Ladybug wasted no time in attacking, joined by Ladybird and Temoli. The latter two threw their Yo-yos as they approached. Ladybird's yo-yo wrapped itself around his left wrist, Temoli's around his right, and together they jumped off the roof, swinging down around him and forcing his arms down to his sides. Ladybug took advantage of that by kicking him in the face, and it was followed up by Chat Noir whacking him with his cane.

Hawkmoth grunted in pain and stumbled backwards, as Temoli and Ladybird swung back onto the roof and landed behind him. But Hawkmoth pulled, causing Ladybird to lose her footing and be swung back into the air. Hawkmoth brought his arm down in a slashing motion, sending Ladybird swinging towards Chat. The hero had been trying to reach for Hawkmoth's brooch, but looked up in time to see the approaching red blur in time to catch her, stumbling backwards and nearly falling off the roof but stopping himself just in time. But Hawkmoth had no time to watch as he was busily defending himself from the other two Ladybugs, and out of the corner of his eye he saw Ocelotl and the Black Cat clambering back onto the roof.

It was now a six on one, and Hawkmoth needed a way to even the odds. Fortunately, he had one. A purple light suddenly flickered to life in front of his eyes as he barked "Come here, now!"

Meanwhile...

Rena Rouge rushed in front of the marble Akuma, which screamed in rage and lunged at her. The blade passed clean over Rena and lodged itself in the wall, and Rena took the opportunity to whack it with her flute. It howled in pain and yanked the weapon free, knocking over what was no doubt a priceless work of art just out of spite.

Rena winced. Unless Ladybug returned, this could be a very expensive day.

"What do we do?" Carapace shouted from where he was fending off blows from the other Akuma. Despite taking each punch on his shield, he was being slightly forced back with each one.

"I don't know," Rena was forced to admit, dodging another swing, "Have you seen anything that could be their Akumas?"

"No!" Carapace replied. "Hey, lead your one towards me! Maybe do something to obscure its vision!"

"Are you sure?" Rena pointed out. "That'll mean-"

"Trust me!"

Rena put the flute to her lips and played a short tune, causing an orange ball of energy to appear. She tossed it onto the ground, and five more Rena Rouges appeared, which began to crowd around the Akuma. The stone creature bellowed, and began to swat at them as it charged, picking up speed as the illusions continued tormenting it. At the last second, Carapace glanced over his shoulder and rolled out of the way, and the two Akumas clattered into one another, sending them flying. One of them smashed through the wall with the painting they had admired earlier on it, splitting the artwork in half, and the other knocked over a statue.

"We could have fought somewhere with a bit less collateral damage?" Carapace asked. But Rena was already rushing forwards, eager to finish the fight before her timer ran out and she became Alya again. Carapace followed, shield at the ready.

No such luck. There was a roar as the Akuma rose from the rubble. Carapace threw his shield, but it bounced off its head as it looked around, leaving a visible dent. Its face changed, until it looked just like Rena Rouge.

"I didn't know it could do that as well!" Rena muttered. "Am I going to have to punch my own face?"

She was answered by another roar, as the second Akuma lumbered back behind them. The two heroes were now surrounded, and Rena's time was running dangerously short. She gripped her flute and turned to face the Akuma behind them, but as it raised its marble arm to strike, a familiar purple pattern appeared in front of its face. She did not hear what Hawkmoth said, but she did see both Akumas nod and immediately lose interest in them. They both turned and began to run towards an exit. Rena made to follow them but Carapace stopped her.

"What was that all about?" He asked.

"Hawkmoth is up to something," Rena Rouge replied.

"Hawkmoth is always up to something."

"Yes, but he's definitely up to something now. We need to follow them!"

Carapace nodded.

"But first, we need to raid the restaurant," he pointed out. "Unless you want to take him on without your miraculous."

"Good idea," Rena grudgingly accepted. "Let's go!"
