Lucretia hadn't been sure what to think. She'd known her brother hadn't had a happy marriage, but she hadn't thought it had gotten to the point that he'd happily have an affair with someone else. Her letter had contained quite a bit more information than her father's had, not that she'd tell them that. She didn't know what her brother had been thinking, leaving behind evidence of what should be considered a scandal in the form of a child. Despite this, what he'd actually left the family was a gift beyond measure. Regardless of the fact that these children had been born out of wedlock, they were also directly from the male bloodline and were purebloods that had been verified by the goblin nation. Sure, their bloodline was a bit bent due to the squibs and Riddle, but the squibs were all from pureblood families and Riddle was the heir of Slytherin who later became the man known as Lord Voldemort. She'd never told her family about Voldemort's origins though, she didn't have a death wish thank you very much.
Although, Lucretia thought to herself as she slowly walked towards the new heirs' mother, the boys have a claim to the heir status of Slytherin now. Orion left us quite a boon and the family would forgive his infidelity and the children's illegitimately due to their connection to the Slytherin bloodline.
She knelt before the young mother and greeted the girl.
Esther, she mentally corrected herself as the girl skillfully hid her cunning in the blink of an eye under a shy demeanor, Such a clever girl. She knows not to show her cards too early and is willing to bite back her pride in order to achieve her goals. She'll do well in Slytherin.
Her father, mother, and husband all introduced themselves before Lucretia moved onto telling her parents about the girl's 'lineage'. She believed it would be best to hide that Esther had been the result of squibs and spun a story of a visiting foreign pureblood couple that had met a tragic end before they could register at the Ministry of Magic. Esther had been their child, trapped in a country with no relatives and had been taken in by Orion's mistress. From there, Gragnus took over in the explanation on the resulting pregnancy and the birth of twin male heirs before the tragic passing of Orion's son and mistress. When asked about what family the mistress had come from, Gragnus told them she had been the only daughter of the Voldemort and Charlus Potter. At first, her father had been livid at the slight against his cousin Dorea that had married Charlus. Gragnus had managed to appease her father by letting him know that it had been before their marriage, that Charlus hadn't even known he'd been a bearer, and that it had been against the poor man's will. He'd hidden his daughter away both to protect her from her sire and to save his betrothal to the woman he loved. Arcturus still wasn't happy, but he now realized that it had been out of the man's control. It was decided that Lucretia would raise the children alongside her husband, but Arcturus would be their magical guardian.
After the magical guardian situation was resolved, they moved onto the lines of succession and what titles they had claim over. This was when they were told that Voldemort was technically still alive, although currently in the form of a wraith, and that Harry Potter had been murdered by his muggle relatives after being left on said muggles doorstep by the poor boy's 'magical guardian' Dumbledore. They'd been livid that filthy muggles had killed a member of such an important pureblood family, willfully ignoring the fact that little Harry's lineage had been less than pristine due to his mud-blood mother. They chose to believe that Lily Potter née Evans had been the result of pureblood squibs and that, while she hadn't known, the Potters had allowed the marriage after researching her 'true' bloodline. Not only that, but Dumbledore hadn't even been the Potter boy's magical guardian as Sirius would have gained that title the moment of the Potter couple's death. His being thrown into Azkaban hadn't negated the fact that Sirius was Harry's magical guardian since he'd never been given a trial.
They decided to find a way to avenge the loss of a magical child at some point, but the loss would be the Black family's gain. They proceeded to name Markus the Black heir due to him being the elder of the two while making Erik the Potter heir. Both of the twins were given the title as heirs of Slytherin which they would only tell the Dark pureblood families as extra protection for the children.
They then moved onto the planning of getting Sirius a trial and keeping him in the family despite his blood-traitor status. While Sirius would never be a favorite in the Black family due to being a 'muggle-lover', he was also a member of the Ancient and Noble house of Black and his being thrown into Azkaban without a trial was an attack on the entire Black family. Not only that, but getting him a trial and standing by his side could only benefit them. By standing by his side when the Light side abandoned him, Sirius would see their family in a better light. Not only that, but he'd further turn from the Light when they told him of the fact that his beloved godson had been murdered by muggles all thanks to Dumbledore. Thankfully, the existence of his half-brothers should help Sirius heal from the tragic loss of his godson and give him a stronger connection to his family. Although, they agreed to never let him know of the twins connection to Voldemort until he was firmly bonded to the innocent children. They would tell him about the twins' connection to the Potter family though.
They also quickly brought Andromeda Tonks née Black and her daughter Nymphadora back into the family. Alphard Black hadn't officially been disowned so didn't need to be brought back into the family despite Walburga's screeches and her blasting him off one of the family tapestries for willing money to Sirius. Nymphadora was a metamorphmagus and it would only benefit the Black family if she were a part of it despite her mud-blood father, Ted Tonks. They could move past that due to the girl's rare ability that hadn't been seen in the family for the past few centuries and there was always the possibility that the male Tonks was actually descended from squibs. They had considered bringing Cedrella back into the family despite her being disowned for marrying the blood traitor Septimus Weasley. However, while the Weasleys were still a pureblood family and hadn't sullied their bloodline with muggle blood, they were firmly on Dumbledore's side. Once everything had been figured out, they left Gringotts with the three children and went to the Black family's manor.
It was time to call a family meeting.
